This shouldn't be at Meta, there is Alternate Cryptocurrencies or off-topic to post this type of things

BTG is scam coin, dump it, they will attack you people for holding their coin anytime

Deciding whether thread is spam or not is very subjective, even this thread can be spam thread to some other user, so that is not a wise decision to do that just to stop spam.

Instead of making automatic filter, just use Merit score as measure to determine how much the account will have signature feature available, the higher Merit score more signature feature available.

After looking at how people merit post, my rough estimate only around 10% that given appropriately to quality post, other than that it is given to friend and people who they know regardless of the post quality, so I don't think the system is working as intended.

Just to make sure you don't waste your time and readers here please do us favor report this topics because I see you already have a lot supporter to your cause

I think the Signature feature should be tied to Merit and Rank just simply tied to Activity would be better easier and not involve too much logic and compute processing and also not expose the system to vulnerability if we make too many complicated changes

I don't entirely agree with this. In fact, there is a newbie (his rank was updated to Jr. Member now, here's his profile Husna QA) in my local section who started a contributive thread to our local section (Indonesia). But I do understand that there are many newbies who created too many unnecessary threads. Which is kinda interesting, how come there are so many newbies that do that? Simple answer is they are Newbie

Yeah, your right. The important thing in getting merit is the content of your post not the appearance of your post.
Correct Me If I'm Wrong
You are absolutely and fundamentally correct! Content, not appearance gets the sceptre. As the topic title say " increase chance" and not simply just " to get merit" just like this topic get merit because of how he present the content, the content is just general knowledge you can learn yourself but since it is presented in a beautiful way, the guide become more clearer to follow through. If it just an unstructured lump of text, it would be very difficult to understand anything in there. Guide to forum search

Since we already have More serious discussion. No advertising of any kind. No junk posts. board for season members who don't want any distraction in their discussion by repetitive thread with same question, where spamming is not tolerated, I think we should give Newbie their board to ask away, whatever they want, as many times as they like. If you think fighting spam is good probably you need to police another board, policing Beginners & Help which specifically created for Newbie to ask away is not wise thing to do, its like trying to police kindergarten kid to follow adult rules. Reporting Newbie behavior in their own board will just open another opportunity to others to open spamming topic that pollute this Meta board without any logical reason and add nothing to our knowledge, its just some wild gossiping, and if it become trend and people who do this getting merit point I believe soon after Meta will be filled with this unnecessary spamming report topics

You can modify the signature line to include links to bitcointalk posts.
Go to your profile Select Forum Profile information (on the left side) See the big white box that says signature, add your text there.
[ccc=aaaaaa]bbbbbb
Replace ccc with URL replace aaaa with the link of the post you want to show (go to the top of the page and copy the https: address) replace bbbbb with whatever words you want to show
Just to correct your message and give you much better guide to put clickable hyperlink with message text on your signature Let say you want to put this link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3057603.msg31514701#msg31514701 on a clickable text [My post] 1. click on the # button you will see this tag 2. Put = like this 3. Put your link just after the = you just put and clickable text right after the first ] My post Here is how it should lool like My post

Here is simple way to embed the link into your reply area, just make sure it is not too intrusive, but need Jr. Member rank and above to use this, after posting 30 good quality post and passing the required 14 days period should be able to utilize this method. - Snip -
No. Ads are typically not allowed in posts (outside of the signature area) because they are annoying and off-topic. It is especially disallowed to put ads or signatures at the bottom of all of your posts. Except for traditional valedictions, which are tolerated but discouraged, signatures are for the signature area only.
It occurred to me that I should write a little about this in case anyone's wondering about what dogie's doing, or why other people are getting banned for somewhat similar activity:

However, if you are using the forum as a publishing platform to host something really substantial and useful, selling ads in that substantial work is allowed. To be eligible for this, your post must be in a topic that you started, and your post must be substantial and long enough to make the ad seem entirely insignificant. If in doubt, ask me.
Your quotes snipped half of the message, therefore missing half of what theymos said in that post, first of all this is not ads, and secondly it is something substantial and useful for bitcoiner [in my example at least] the only thing is I have to make sure it is posted on topic I started. Take a look at this topic you should see the advertisement area on the top of the page, but anyway this thing is in gray area let just leave it like that or maybe open a topic at Meta and ask if this is allowed to make sure that we do not go against any rules here.

As a member, my smerit has not been refilled. I found some post that really deserve a merit and when I check my smerit to merit that post, it's still 0. I think it's already over 1 month. Is member not eligible to get smerit refilled?
As Member you should have 1 sMerit click here to check it Merit status page

Hi Everyone
I feel like maybe this has a home at Serious Discussion, but I'm a little while off for the activity requirement. Didn't see anything VIA searching, but my apologies if I overlooked anything.
My assumption is that there are many forum users here who are either starting or in the process of creating a business catered towards an ICO for their idea. I'm seeing a lack of related resources for these new users and given the expertise within this forum, I wonder if we might create a board catered towards new business topics or the path towards an ICO. Things like advice on where (And why) to incorporate, how to create budget/business plans related to an ICO, writing a whitepaper etc; resources of this sort.
Personally, I'd find this useful and would be interested in offering help; while I'm not the most technical person and lack the expertise to advise other on the merit of technical in's and out's, I do have a scholarly background and could help with people who are just getting started.
If this has some merit to it, I'd love to be involved in creating a sticky'd thread with some templates and links to help people move in the right direction.
Again, sorry if this isn't the right place, just seemingly noticed a gap and thought I may be able to offer some help.
Thanks for your feedback!
This is generous but, as the name suggest this forum is originally bitcoin talk only, some of the earlier members of the forum would be very much against for such things even ICO that specifically help towards BTC mass adoption. But you probably can offer your expertise at Bitcoin Forum > Economy > Marketplace > Services

Here is the page where you should look for your sMerit amount Yours should look like this You have received a total of 6 merit. This is what determines your forum rank. You typically cannot lose this merit. You have 3 sendable merit (sMerit) which you can send to other people. There is no point in hoarding sMerit; keeping it yourself does not benefit you, and we reserve the right to decay unused sMerit in the future. So you have 3 sMerit to send to a post you see as quality post. To send the Merit to a post click on +Merit on the right upper side of the post box. You don't have credited sMerit at the Merit system initiation because admin only provide it for Member and above ranks only but you have 3 sMerit after earning 6 Merit

Read this FAQRanks and activity:Brand New: 0 posts Newbie: 1-29 activity Jr. Member: 30-59 activityMember: 60-119 activity Full Member: 120-239 activity Sr. Member: 240-479 activity Hero Member: 480 activity Legendary: Somewhere between 775 and 1030 activity

Thank you for the opportunity to earn Merit, I am not participating but as Merit economy goes, the faster we move it around the better the system will run. just as an advice asking Newbie/Jr Member to post 60 and also checking 60 post is too much, you probably just need 5 post as a sample, even copy pasting the link would be so much of work to do that probably will take up their time over thinking for quality post
