checking that thread... Its MASSIVE (74 pages) but will read every post, thanks for the heads up, I think this is what Im after. Might have to ditch windows, might be for the best though.

I tried a pool (deepbit I think) that allowed you get get an alert when your miner became inactive, neat feature. Right now Im only on Slush, I like the vibe there so I will stick there for now.

I have a separate monitor in my office and like (would like) to obsessively watch the miners if I can. Getting emails etc is not exactly what I want.

I will be installing some miners at my cottage also because I get power for $0.02 a kw hour (Im serious, its called 'farm hydro') so I really wanna watch these miners  Grin

Again appreciate the info LOTS. Time to get reading  Grin

IF you get scammed by anyone post EVERYTHING about them

name, address, email, names they use etc.

I actually contact the local police in their area and let them know someone is doing fraud on the internet

This actually works, scares the buttcoin out of scammers!

I now have 2 windows 7 PC's up and actively mining in my basement.

I want to be able to watch them from the PC in my office, instead of running downstairs to see if they are up.

They keep crashing and I would like to know when that happens.

I have tried logmein but I think that uses up a lot of hashing power.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

JTM29- can you share a link to the site where you invested in mining shares? thx-

Yep, I invest here https://www.havelockinvestments.com where you can buy 1/100th of a share in ASICM, currently trading at around BTC0.02. I bought about 50 at 0.014 about a week ago. Havelock is good as its a super simple interface, and there are no trading fees. Only a 0.0010 (i think) withdraw fee.

Check out this thread for info on the ASIC Miner https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=99497.0

investing in such things has never been my bag baby! learn it yourself and do it yourself, other people dont care about your money like you do

you really need to define investing

I slapped a 7970 card in an old pc I wasnt using and I just got paid .08 btc for a few days of electricity. At this rate the card will be paid for in about 40 days. So far its fun, 'investing' usually isnt much fun  Tongue
167  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am I mining wrong or something? on: May 20, 2013, 01:01:30 PM
Mining is not a get rich quick scheme  Wink If you think it is a waste, then just stop mining, especially since right now probably you are spending more in energy than what you gain

correct it is not a get rich quick, treat it as a passionate hobby, trying to push the limits of your machine. If you can make it profitable then it gets really fun!

How much is electricity in your area?
