161  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] [ASIC miner] [Block Erupter USB] [Price Updated] [Australia] on: August 26, 2013, 02:41:40 AM
Any price updates incoming?
These are starting to look a little expensive with oversea's vendors selling  @ 0.32 and other aussies suppliers looking at local stock with 0.4.

Im looking at ordering some more but im wondering if its worth it atm.

Making ROI with these things is tough, but I'm doing it as a hobby.

dazz,

will the price go down again with the next shipment?
163  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 23, 2013, 06:12:40 AM
Hi all, I have successfuly setup my RPi to access my wifi with wicd-curses. The problem is that it won't reconnect to the wifi when I reboot the Pi.

Any suggestions?

there is a setting on the screen where you add the wlan0, I think its down the bottom. it says to reconnect on bootup or something similar. you probably need to check there.

If its not on that screen its on the screen where you setup the IP address and Wifi password etc.

sorry if im vague im working from memory without a Pi in front of me

Thanks for the help. It seems to be working now, though I did have to fiddle with it a bit.

After contemplating my options, I am now considering buying more Block Erupters with the BTC I have earned from mining. daemondazz's perpetual group buy is currently selling BE's for 0.4 BTC each. For that price I can pick up 7 and start mining at 4.0GH/s. However, I need another DUB-H7, and they are becoming increasingly difficult to find in Australia.

Is anyone able to buy a DUB-H7 on my behalf and ship it to Australia?
166  Economy / Goods / [WTB] D-Link DUB-H7 powered USB 2.0 hub on: August 22, 2013, 01:56:49 AM
This hub is known to work well with USB Block Erupters on the Raspberry Pi. However, it's hard to find one in Australia. If you're interested in selling yours, or can buy one on my behalf and ship it for a reasonable fee, please get in touch. Smiley

I saw on this forum somewhere an image of a mining rig with an LCD display showing its vital stats. Can this be done with MinePeon? Are there instructions anywhere?
As cardcomm mentioned in this thread
https://github.com/cardcomm/cgminerLCDStats/blob/master/MinePeon%20Install.md

Cool, thanks! But what LCD should I buy? Cheesy

I too am interested in getting an LCD display to work with MinePeon. Can anyone help with this?

To calculate profit we would need to know how much you spent on hardware and power. To calculate revenue, check out this link:

171  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Worth it to buy a block erupter? on: August 12, 2013, 06:11:12 AM
As a hobby and/or educational exercise, I'd say go for it. Mining your money back with these things is going to be difficult, but you'll learn a lot and have some fun. Smiley

Neil,

my network hub has run out of ports, so I need to use a USB wifi dongle with my RPi. Does Arch Linux/Minepeon support this? What's the procedure for setting it up?
174  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Encrypted Paper Backups on: August 09, 2013, 03:47:30 AM
Why not just print the paper wallet to PDF and encrypt it with TrueCrypt?
175  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory online mode help and other problems on: August 09, 2013, 03:39:31 AM
Have you told Armory in settings where your Bitcoin-Qt install is located?

I just put 1 directly into the usb3.0 port of the laptop and it ran over an hour @ avg270mh... it jumped to over 400 mh down to 30mh while keeping that average.

I have no idea what the issue is?

What happens when you plug it directly into a USB 2.0 port?
177  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Rasberry PI Minepeon(How many days mining uninterrupted) on: August 09, 2013, 12:37:42 AM
I accrued over a month of uptime with my 5 block erupters on a DUB-H7, but I eventually got some instability. I think we decided it was due to the donation code.
178  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is it possible to realistically break even mining anymore? on: August 08, 2013, 07:37:41 AM
The most readily available ASIC is the Block Erupter USB which hashes @ 336MH/s. I paid BTC 2.6 each, but now you can get them for BTC 0.55 each. It's a much better deal, but you might still have trouble making ROI.

Another bug related to graphing. This appears at the top of my status screen:
