Does this coin need a foundation? If yes where can we get a new one or at least 50% of a new one?

Just look at Bitcoin foundation for guidance here.  They decided to de-emphasize lobbying in favor of development.

At this stage of IXC, really what you need is a group of committed developers who can move the technology forward.

That starts with having some consistent ability to upgrade the mining pools that control IXC.

162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 05, 2015, 12:18:25 PM

CEX.IO has done more for IXC than you have ever done.

We just need them to perform one critical upgrade.  IXC 0.9.3 on their GHash.IO mining pool.

Without their hash power all my efforts would be worth ZERO, so we are in total agreement there.

But besides their merge mining, CEX has NEVER done a single thing nor spent a single penny or a single iXcoin for IXC.

Regarding the critical code upgrade:

They will do it whenever they want to do it [or not] and nothing and no one will alter their preset plan.

Just a simple reality check regarding CEX.

There are two exchanges that has most of the IXC trades,  that is CEX.IO and Cryptsy.

I for one really would like to see the GHASH.IO mining pools upgraded.   We need this to add new functionality to IXC.

Let's hope he is nothing like me because hell would freeze over before I touched that code after reading this.

A)  Jeffrey is nothing but another frontman - just like everyone running IXC [and Bitcoin].

B)  The powerful monkeys running CEX [and all of Bitcoin] don't give two shits about me, you, hell freezing over or our code update.  They have a fixed plan and a [secret] agenda and nobody is gonna stop them.

This is why I can double dare them and triple dog dare them and it will have zero effect since they're not gonna be slowed down or stopped by any talking monkey.

CEX.IO has done more for IXC than you have ever done.

We just need them to perform one critical upgrade.  IXC 0.9.3 on their GHash.IO mining pool.

Does this mean you have joined Team IXC?

I may join soon.  I have been experimenting with another coin that is merged mined with Bitcoin and am having some success with the java code.  ixcoin can be next on my list.  I am using the code from DevCoin and looked at Dogecoin modifications for Aux POW, as it is called.

Looking forward to seeing your build.
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 04, 2015, 07:52:10 PM

PS BTC -12% in two days? People are running away from cryptos

Massive manipulation to drive BTC down, affecting all crypto.  Well, except for IXC and a few other alts.

I would buy all the BTC I could here.
I guess when it comes to ‘trust’ and this experiment is as much about that as anything else, your average person will stick with the devil they know!  You can’t expect anyone to embrace a technology where all around, others seem to be losing fortunes, that just mysteriously evaporate from their computer screens and that’s just tough! Banks provide people with security, that’s why we trust them even when we don’t trust them so regulate or try to regulate them. BTC and other cryptos including IXC need Banks to provide the same security. This is no easy task and I would imagine has to be better than bank security when it comes to cryptos because a crypto bank will never be in a position to continually pretend an incident just did not take place and any ability to do this will entirely depend on their reserves and the security in which they are held. Banks have lost money hand over fist through hacking, they are just a lot less vocal than the BTC community and you can make fiat up to cover it!
We’ll get there eventually but still only tax and death is certain!

There clearly is some value for crypto if you happen to live in a country with massive devaluation (example:  Russia).   Relative to the Russian Ruble,  BTC has done much better in the last couple of months.

Right now, the BTC price is being driven by the whims of the shorters.   C'mon,  the latest attack was done on a weekend were nobody can buy new coins via fiat.

I use GroundRods wallet, I am no expert in these matters but it works well and I have not had any problems with it. I remember seeing a post of his somewhere about wanting to know more about android and it wouldn't really surprise me if he was off somewhere teaching himself how to make an IXC application for mobile devices. I don't really know what he may be doing but I hope we have not seen the last of him.

Is there still a need for and android wallet?
There most certainly is and one for ios too like deadsea says. Can you help with that? Our main forms of payment are lulz, kudos and I personally would pledge some IXC, perhaps there are others here that would too for working applications by verified developers.

I am doing some research on ixcoin.  It appears to be merge mined with Bitcoin.  This may be a problem for an SPV Light Wallet, the kind of wallet that doesn't download the entire blockchain.  Any blocks that are merged mined will contain extra information in the block about the bitcoin block and difficulty and hash that were used to solve the block.  In the regular bitcoin wallet, the block header is all that is needed to verify a block (because all the necessary information is in it to check the POW and difficulty).  This is something that I am looking into.  A dev had made a wallet for DevCoin which was never published and I am looking at the code to see if it solves the problem I think these types of coins will have.

I believe a SPV client is indeed possible.  The best place to look is the DogeCoin implementation.  DogeCoin is merged mined with Litecoin.
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 04, 2015, 11:48:47 AM
0.9.3 is COMPLETE. As i stated earlier it has been for some time (In the time since its been done ive even hard forked DGC to V3 from the original V2 code) which shows the time since its been done. If @Frictionless you do plan on doing it. I must insist that you start ASAP. Once v0.10 launches i plan on upgrading straight to it, and any of your counterparty work if not completed will NOT be ported. Which will leave you left with porting counterparty to a 0.10 base.

Ahmed

I'm waiting to see 0.9.3 on the GHASH.IO servers.   The counterparty will not work unless the miners have the 0.9.3 code base.   They will reject all transactions.
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 03, 2015, 11:56:48 PM
So, are you saying you gave Friction 10,000 IXC for Counterparty, he didn't deliver it and never returned the money to you?
I'm saying that I sent Friction 10k IXC as part of the 25k they requested for the Counterparty work. I don't know if the work has been delivered. I assume it is still in progress based on the last page or two of this thread. I have not received any refund, nor do I expect one if the work is still ongoing.

I gather it is part of the 15K IXC that I received.  I never received the 25k IXC that I had originally requested.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 03, 2015, 10:59:45 PM
Frictionlesscoin 30,000 IXC?
mmpool.org paid 10k ixcoin to Frictionless and other pledges were 15k for ixcoin updates for counterparty support. I'm not sure if this was completed though - I haven't kept up with the thread.

I received 15,000 IXC for the counterparty port.  This however is dependent on the 0.9.3 port being completed.

Regarding other bounties that I received,  that was all for the 0.8.x port that I completed.

So really, I don't know what the 10K IXC that you are referring to here.
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: December 21, 2014, 11:47:37 AM

Looks to me to be a miner at Ghash.IO that's too lazy to even bother with managing his IXC.

Isn't it not the same address with a total of 500,000 coins?  Why do you think it is 4 million coins?

Their phones still ring with the same messages....#1 for sales #2 form Billing #3 for tech support.....and still no answer.....ever, no return emails, last returned email was from Jim Brown. Its ashame that these guys have not been thrown in jail for robbing people. Went by the office in PA....door locked with mail on the door step.

Was Jim Brown ever a real person?

Looks like the amtminers.com website got updated.

Are they still in business?

What happened to the lawsuit?

I still want my MPP!

Looks the same to me. Same shitty spelling and all.

Oh... haven't been looking in a while now.  I thought they went out of business several months ago.

You mean to tell me they are still operating?

Here is a short write up some others wrote on stack exchange for a few similar services for bitcoin

I think they say it better than I can

https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/2240/what-are-the-risks-of-using-strongcoin-com-as-an-online-wallet

Cinnamon,

Can you educate us on the possible security problems with js?  I noticed the Namecoin team seems to have accepted the js wallet and are testing it ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=758247.0 ).  I hate to throw away free apps, or discourage dev support for iXcoin.  Maybe we can put disclaimers on the use of this wallet to let the public know of potential risks.

in java script ? lol glad to see iX getting some development but that may not be a secure way to use any coin,

no disrespect to your work, but java script wallets for bitcoin are a little hot for me

Looking for a Browser based deterministic wallet for iXcoin (and other crypto currencies) ?

Checkout https://djswallet.com/wallet.php

In beta, but basic functionality works.

bitcoinjs-lib fork

Additional features are coming!

FULL DISCLOSURE: It is my site.

I think you are confusing an online wallet with a javascript wallet.

The djswallet uses bitcoinjs-lib which appears to be a javascript implementation of bitcoin.  Therefore this application allows you to have your own wallet that resides in your machine just like the current bitcoin-core wallet.   The only difference is that it is implemented in javascript and not c++.  I haven't tested this yet so I'm not sure if this is a thin-client or one that requires downloading the blockchain.

An online wallet by contrast is a web interface into a bitcoin-core wallet.   It is a shared application into a shared wallet.   That is why there is a security issue when it is hosted on the public internet.  Anyone who can hack into the shared wallet has access to all the coins.  This is because bitcoin-core stores all private keys in its wallet.    Djswallet uses a determinstic address generation so what this means is that the private keys of the addresses are not recorded in the server and therefore the coins associated with the wallet cannot be removed by a hacker.

In summary javascript => web, web wallet => unsecure  however   djswallet does not =>  unsecure because web != web wallet

I tested Electrum IXC. It works quite well. Not having to sincronize the blockchain: not bad at all!!!
So far, better than paper wallet.
The fee is quite reasonable too: 0.000113 IXC, or 0.113 mIXC (it can't be worse than Vircurex: still 10 IXC fee!!! It means 88495 transactions instead of 1)

PS What about the final QT wallet 0.9.3? I know Ahmed was two days work away from completing the task. He spoke about repetitive work. Can anyone help him out to finish the job? It's a waste to be so close and not see the full result of such an effort.

Yup.... still waiting for 0.9.3 to be deployed on the network.

Can you foundation folks do something about getting this done?
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: November 25, 2014, 10:08:07 PM

Very neat!  A thin client wallet for IXC.

I'm still waiting for a big seller to show up!!

What, you still haven't bought the IXC you wanted during this big downturn?  Man, the price got very low.  Not a lot of volume on the sell-side but enough to accumulate some good amount of IXC for those who had the Bitcoin.

Good luck!

The volumes were pretty low,  I accumulated, but didn't reach my target.

I can arrange one to be setup with the DGC/ARG/SRC block explorer's that we @ the DGC team are putting together if needed. it would be free of charge however any donations would be accepted once its running

ok....  that'll be of great help.

A piece of interesting statistical data for you guys, I worked hard to get, courtesy of our loyal partners at CEX.io.

I have said for a long time iXCoin is the best distributed alt-coin in earth and quite possibly better, more fairly distributed than even Bitcoin.

Due to nearly 4 years of mining [distribution] out of which most of it was with high merge mining difficulty, today we have at least 100,000 people with an average of at least 50 coins per person.

And given I'm basing this off only ~18 months of merge mining data [at CEX.io] that number is most likely a lot higher given the number of merge miners mining IXC for years, before CEX.io appeared.

Imagine if 100,000-200,000 individuals held at least 50 Bitcoins.  That would have a massive economic impact on a national and global level.

And depending how many people actually also bought some IXC for their portfolio, given it was always very cheap, that number may be considerably higher.

This is yet another reason IXC is such a solid alt-coin to get behind and why iXCoin is such a prime choice for any large investor or government to get behind.

*
[Above statistical data supported by distribution numbers from CEX.io where ~70,000 individuals hold on average ~45 iXcoins each]

Nice.  As suspected,  the IXC distribution was extremely effective.

Hey Ixcoin folks,

Seeing as how ixcoin can easily do what bitcoin can do.......

It would be real slick if ixcoin had an api like this.        https://chain.com/

Why? because chain is compatible with "if this then that"     https://ifttt.com/chain

"If this then that" would really get ixcoin into a new audience, Id suggest checking this out for more info. https://ifttt.com/channels   Kiss

Good idea.   IXCoin can become the ultimate blockchain platform for doing stuff.  Meanwhile.... let me accumulate more coins.
