161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum 40$ in 1-2 weeks on: December 29, 2018, 08:06:43 PM
At the moment, ether is going up. I think that it will fall only if Bitcoin drops sharply. But I hope that this will not happen.
True, they're still bound in price, and Ether follows Bitcoin.
I think there's going to be a slight bump thanks to the hard fork, nothing substantial though.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: It is the time of the prophets on: December 29, 2018, 08:05:42 PM
It's up to you to follow only worthy people, with the growth of the crypto ecosystem more and more fluff will enter the space.
There's mostly either permabulls and permabears. Very few people are actually giving good predictions.
The only person I can name that called the top was Jeff Berwick
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bull run in december on: December 29, 2018, 08:03:23 PM
this year there will be no bullrun even at the end of the year the bull run is impossible to come, I hope you don't hope too much because it will make you disappointed. cryptocurrency will never experience the same goodness as 2017 again.
Frankly, it's been a solid month. Vitalik was right in saying there's gonna be no more x100-es.
The small price hike of the last few weeks is still more than welcome. Let's hope it remains this way into 2019
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Invest in ICO or buy BTC? on: December 29, 2018, 08:01:13 PM
Ignore ICO-s at the moment.
But if prices remain at the same places, it's indicator of coming alt season.
So look for good alts that either scale really well, have good news coming soon, or maybe darknet/anon coins. I expect they'll perform better than BTC.
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which Altcoin for 100-1000x returns by late 2020? on: December 23, 2018, 11:39:44 PM
All of the coins listed in OP are already too expensive for x100.
I think that no more than 1-2 coins will 100x, those times are over and at best you need a ton of luck.
I still hope that Universa can pull it off, though.
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NOLLAR - first USD stablecoin with instant & feeless transactions on: December 23, 2018, 11:38:11 PM
USD is kept with licensed & regulated trust company, similar setup than TrueUSD, Gemini, Paxos, USDC
I don't mean to hate but you need to be more specific about the actual company inside the ANN thread.
This is essential information. Without it, I doubt anyone would want to visit the website, even if it has it on it.
Please list more information in the OP post.
167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: fear of ransomware attack like wannacry on: December 23, 2018, 11:34:54 PM
is there any chance of losing bitcoin by ransomware cyber attacks like wannacry Huh
Well, as long as you keep your documents backed up on a cloud or a computer with no internet connection I doubt you'd get in real trouble.
The ransomware was mostly targeting corporations and not individuals anyway.
168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin with real gold on: December 23, 2018, 11:33:29 PM
Now that companies are actually accepting BTC to buy gold with, I think gold is a better hedge than some stablecoins.
Sure, the reverse process will be difficult but you can rely on gold to store value.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Waves - jump to number no.19 on: December 22, 2018, 11:18:46 PM
Top 20 might be too much but it's a solid project, their tx throughput is amazing.
They deserve a high standing.
These quick pumps never last though, I think it's gonna drop soon.
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The buttom for this year on: December 22, 2018, 11:17:43 PM
We've had a nice price hike since the bottom, so I think we're not going lower for now.
But if bakkt is not approved and US citizens need to sell to pay taxes, $1000 wouldn't surprise me.
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Next big ICO on: December 22, 2018, 11:15:12 PM
I fear too many scams have tainted the term ICO.
Now it is a negative PR from the start if you create an ERC20 token so startups went back to VC.
Which is a shame because BAT and LINK were very legitimate, and there's plenty of room for more of these.
172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain size on: December 20, 2018, 11:20:53 PM
Hi all,

I've recently discovered something is quite concerning for me, i.e. with Segwit transactions single block size will rise up to 4 Mb.
This would lead to a blockchain increase up to ~200 GB/year, while a normal laptop does not have more than 500 GB.

Right now blockchain is already at 200 GB.

In ten years it seems quite unsustainable. Common users will cease to run a full node, only pros and geeks will do that,
and we'll never have millions of full nodes in that way.

If bitcoin is peer to peer electronic cash and want to be worldwide, IMHO more than mining centralization and price dumping
it's mass adoption of the peer-to-peer network that should be concerned.

If LN will have a great development in the following years, and I hope I will. what about reducing block size back to 1 MB or even lower?

I would like to have explanation and thoughts about a technician.

Thanks in advance.
4Mb is only a theoretically possible block size, we're never getting there in practice.
I own an external 2GB SSD drive. I'm not some crazy geek, this is a consumer product.
It is theoretically guaranteed to be able to contain the blockchain for another 10 years.
In 10 years 2GB SSD drives will probably cost what 128GB USB flash drives cost today.
That said, there's no reason for any pleb to actually download the entire blockchain and there's literally nothing wrong with using SPV wallets, so why would it matter. I stopped using Bitcoin Core software in 2016 because I didn't wanna melt my CPU with all the block verifications - so ordinary users are already NOT using bitcoin core, opting for SPV instead.
173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin allowed to continue? on: December 20, 2018, 11:16:25 PM
I have been thinking a lot lately about why the central bankers are allowing Bitcoin to continue with only minor resistance.   The central bankers have set up shop in almost all civilized countries and have a money printing racket going on.  In America the central bankers are kind enough to let our treasury print the money and then they take 6% off the top thus enslaving the American population.  Don't worry though most Americans are completely unaware of any of this.  The central bankers control the military as well as they own the government.

The last country, without nuclear weapons, to attempt to bypass the central bankers was Libya.  I can still see the vivid video on the internet of Qaddafi being murdered in broad daylight in the middle of the streets of Libya.  Another fellow who attempted to not use the US dollar and went against the wishes of the central bank was Saddam Hussein.  Once again he met a similar fate.  He was hung.

The three countries without central banks right now Iran, North Korea and Syria are under constant attack or threat of attack from the central bankers.

Why would they allow Bitcoin to continue like this and grow momentum?  All they would have to do is outlaw it and 90% of the world population would bitch out immediately and stop.  But they don't do it.

Is Bitcoin a trap?  Is this a central banker monstrosity used to turn us into tax slaves by recording every transaction?  Was Bitcoin innocent and free money and the central bankers are trying to squeeze their way in so they can use it as a weapon?  The only thing I do know is they are not handing over a decentralized economy to us because they love us.  What's the play?  Are we being set up?  Are we the useful idiots getting all our friends and countrymen involved in crypto?
Why do you think the resistance is minor?
Bitcoin is already demoted from a cryptocurrency to a "store of value" - which sounds pretty meaningless. Of course LN can bring it back into currency territory but we'll see.
To answer your question - I think that bankers have such power only because people don't understand how economy works.
If they are too open about their hatred for bitcoin, more people will begin to be aware.
As long as bitcoin is only bought with hopes of future profits they can let it live and they won't be exposing themselves.
174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why does Bitcoin seem to always rally in December? on: December 19, 2018, 10:18:35 PM
My theory is that people buy it as holiday gifts.
In 2013 it was congress hearing.
Don't know about last year.
But what we're seeing December 2018 is not a rally, it's a small correction following huge dump.
175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: REASON FOR MARKET RECOVERY on: December 19, 2018, 10:17:36 PM
It is not recovery, it is slight correction.
Coins that were down the most also corrected upwards the most - BCH, Waves, Stratis.
For me this is only temporary because of overselling. Too Early For Bull.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you use diversification? on: December 19, 2018, 03:13:47 PM
In my opinion. Now is the right time to buy altcoins. because the market conditions are not yet stable and many altcoin prices are weakening. we must hold our assets and wait for further growth in the market.
I think best time to buy altcoins was 3 days ago.
Second best time to buy is today.
Green candles everywhere, reminds me of 2017.
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: In crypto world ,tokens tend to be the king of risk investment on: December 19, 2018, 03:12:43 PM
Yeah, it because of the easiest way to make a future asset especially for the people who have no experience in making a crypto asset.
Agreed.
Although if someone just copy+pastes token code and launches a crappy ICO, it is investors fault for not doing background reseach.
I never invested in scam and I invested in a lot of coins.
I think it is simple to actually not get scammed in this market.
That said, not every investment was a success, sometimes the market just doesn't like some token, even if it is not scam.
178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy now or wait? on: December 19, 2018, 03:10:32 PM
I prefer not to wait until it started to increase the value of any currency in the market because it's like a big decision to make sure you have a investments in your favorite currency. And I think investing right now will cost you a great earnings after the following year because of the current price of any currency are soon to increase their value.
Basically this.
I think buying right now is cheap enough. But consider we can fall more so only invest 10% and wait 1 week. Then put another 10%.
It is safest because if we continue dropping your average is still good and if we moon quickly you still made profit.
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What happens to the other cryptocurrencies if the Bitcoin goes to $ 2,000? on: December 19, 2018, 03:08:30 PM
Judging from what happened during the $20000->$3000 crash, they crash even more than BTC.
But I think if we go really low like $1000 it is very cheap for whale to flip BTC, which will bring enthusiasm back into his coin.
I think $1000 is dangerous territory and Ether Lumens EOS and BCH can all make a fake flip with whale money.
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Believe The Trading Volumes On Most Exchanges on: December 19, 2018, 03:07:13 PM
23 Out of top 25 volumes are faked. Make out #3 and #4 and we're left with 21 exchange I haven't even heard of.
I stick to Binance, Poloniex, Bitmex and Coinex.
The rest is scam territory
