161  Other / Off-topic / Re: How much time you spend online ? on: August 10, 2014, 03:52:07 PM
about 13 hours a day. Give or take.

Sucks when your job and your hobbies are internet based.

Hopefully my friends aren't Wink
162  Economy / Speculation / Re: Am I the only one who wants bitcoin to tank? on: August 10, 2014, 03:50:18 PM
People that own no Bitcoins yet obviously want bitcoin to tank. Also the ones that want to rebuy or are shorting bitcoins.
Then there are just spectators that want to watch the world burn.

I think you tend to change sides depending on whether you currently are invested in Bitcoin or whether you're not. Either because you're too afraid and don't believe in it or because you're currently trying to short it. I think shorting is a bad thing. It just let's go off something and hoping for it to lose and then buy it back again later. Not good for your Karma!

This is certainly true. People tend to root for what profits them most. They are not objecitve.

None of those guys have that much BTC.

you'll never know  Cheesy just count how much btc they scammed from their investor

TF has about 4000+~10000 BTC stolen from his customers and maybe a few thousand he had himself. No way that he has 52000 BTC
165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Anonymity so important to you? on: August 10, 2014, 03:31:09 PM
Since people have a right to privacy and an expected right to it without interference from another party
Although in a court case that gets overruled by a warrant or interacting with others  Wink
Still in general freedom to access information and to form opinions independently is why anonymity is important.

Also to purchase some goods that might seem embarrassing if others knew about it ^^.
Or medication etc in the future those type of private use cases where you wouldn't want others to know.
We do have a right to those privacies. We also need them. But the NSA and the government just want everything. Ugh. >.>

The worst thing is, if they try to convince people that they need to do that because of TERRORISM, and righteous people who do nothing wrong have nothing to fear. lol
166  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to earn 52000 BTC on: August 10, 2014, 03:29:40 PM
what is goat??

Goat is an early Bitcoin adopter, that used his valuable time to troll the bitcoin talk forums and participate in very shady businesses. I think he is banned now.

168  Economy / Lending / Re: Want to Loan 0.03 btc on: August 10, 2014, 03:28:04 PM
You have no feedback and it appears you have conducted no trades here.

do you have any collateral? if not, then why did you think people would loan to you?

Sorry I don't have collateral. I saw someone giving loans without collateral. There is no reason for me to scam because I would lose more. I really don't think that someone would loan me. I'm just hoping.

I can loan you, if you are willing to give your bitcointalk account as collateral.

lol

It was a valid request wasn't it?

He only wants the money for 7 days, I bet he can live without his account for 7 days. And if he doesn't pay back I can sell the account for more than that I guess.
169  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitcoin-trader.biz on: August 10, 2014, 03:27:09 PM
my own brother was involved in a Ponzi

He invested $10 with Madoff?

he "invested" in Telexfree, biggest pyramid sceme in Brazilian history

From the bitterness you display I can only assume more was "invested" than could afford to be lost, if not then with all due respect so what. And if so, erm don't invest more than you can afford to lose. Pretty simple game tbh. Smiley

bitternes? lol

read more: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=393570.msg8124408#msg8124408

I read it before and thought your brother sounded like an idiot then in all honesty. Maybe he should look at it as an education, after all they cost money too.

Don't you feel back promoting something that is most likely a ponzi?

I think you should!

All are innocent until proven guilty. Do your own due diligence.

It is pretty obvious in this case.

It is like a guy with an axe in the hand, covered in blood comes out of a house where a dead body with axe marks lies. Still innocent? Sure there might be a 0.0001% chance he is, but come on...

More than 1/1,000,000 pick up a murder weapon at a scene without thinking especially if it was by a loved ones body. Yea blood gets everywhere. Rather crappy example you found there. I think a safe bet is never invest more than your IQ, or a comfortable factor there of.

Furthermore Shaky, I assume you promote BTC? So when a vastly superior alternative takes over and there are loads of BTC bag holders left making it look like the largest ponzi in history, you will be feeling bad? Or from today you'd rather no longer promote BTC? Smiley

Denial is good thing I guess, keeps you guys happy.

I do not promote BTC, I just like the concept of it. Other than BT bitcoin really does add value to the world and not just scam people.

Well, whatever makes you sleep at night Wink

Can someone post a link to this information? Is there a Wikipedia announcement about it somewhere?

You can find 100s of news and announcements about it

171  Other / Off-topic / Re: karma on: August 10, 2014, 03:23:36 PM
Karma is the nature of god within a dualistic universe.  It is the essence of nature, interdependant with the environment around it.

Every action has a reaction whether you understand karma or not.  If you believe on Newton's third law, you believe in karma.

What horrible things did you do to end up homeless then?Huh
You must have killed some1!
172  Economy / Economics / Re: Mining USD? on: August 10, 2014, 03:22:26 PM
Would anyone be interested on mining USD, if it was possible, @ $0.01  per block (scrypt)?

Its easier for the federal bank to print them, 100million a minute...

And if the difficulty gets too high, they can just change the blockreward Cheesy

1000 USD notes will come back :p
and we all know that centralized currency with unlimited amount of coins (paper) will be worthless garbage Grin
hope people understand this and leave that shitty worthless paper for economic transaction

Yes, and the average life for a reserve currency is only 80 years. For normal currency it is even shorter. Good future ahead of us Cheesy
173  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you do if you received 20 bitcoins? on: August 10, 2014, 03:20:38 PM
Your just sitting there and you get a notification that you have received 20 bitcoins out of nowhere. What would you do?

Woah, I don't know man, that's a loooot of money right there! I think it'd just put some marley records on and celebrate for a while. Just think about all the stuff you can get for that kind of money! I guess it'd put a lot of it in an Armory wallet but use some of it to buy some nice thing, ya know? Wink

So, not a single second of your time would be wasted on figuring out who accidently sent you 12000$?
Not very naiise Moonn.
174  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: [WTS] [VERIFIED] Assload of netflix accounts on: August 10, 2014, 03:18:24 PM
It has been 4 days and account is still working fine and I can guarantee it is not shared with anyone because all recently watched are stuff I watched. This is a good service that seems legit. I will give him a big vouch. Grin

Are you sure you are not only watching the 30 day trial?
175  Economy / Economics / Re: Would u pay in bitcoin? on: August 10, 2014, 03:16:44 PM

Or are you considering international purchases?

My OP was made because i was selling a bike on gumtree for $150 i think but also said half price if paying in bitcoin just to see what interest i got from it, not one person wanted to pay in bitcoin but everybody asked "what is it"? Some researched it and came back saying it just looked to hard for them to bother with. I know its not that easy to begin with and it made me think with all the money being put in to bitcoin why is it still not easy for the average joe?

Wow. I'm actually surprised no one took you up on that offer in order to save $75.

That really speaks volumes about the state of Bitcoin usability.

"speaks volumes" really? Do you know the term samplesize?
176  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you really believe that Bitcoin will hit 1,000,000 on: August 10, 2014, 03:15:47 PM
Lets assume that BTC doesn't gain in "value". Only rises because of inflation.

Today 580

Year XXXX = 1,000,000

Inflation = 4%

580*1,04^x = 1,000,000
1,04^x=1724
x= ~190 years

So in 190 years we will see a price of 1,000,000 USD even if BTC doesn't gain in purchasing power Wink

So BTC will hit $1,000,000 USD but none of us will be alive to see it happen.  Grin

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Medicine is so innovative and innovations coming in big heaps! Who knows, maybe in 30 years with stemcells you will be able to heal nearly every injury and every aspect of getting older. Scientists are predicting that the first human to reach 200 years old, is already born. Spooky!
177  Economy / Economics / Re: Is 1 bitcoin a decent and good investment? on: August 10, 2014, 03:13:49 PM
Every day more businesses are accepting bitcoins. It's an expanding universe, ofcourse with pullbacks when it goes too fast. Enter the market well after a pullback and you be sitting pretty even with 1 or 2 btc's.

Exactly, people forget that if you invested 500$ 3 years ago you would have a nice amount of money now.

Same is happening now, if you invest 500$ now and the adoption keeps the same pace, you will get a nice chunk of money out of it!
178  Economy / Economics / Re: Is 1 bitcoin a decent and good investment? on: August 10, 2014, 03:12:36 PM
Whatever you invest in Bitcoin is at risk so you should only invest in what you can afford to risk or are willing to risk there is no difference in buying 6 bitcoins and losing it all than buying 1 bitcoin and losing it all.

The difference would be 5 BTC and the amount of fiat money lost.

But true, if you invest X% of your wealth, it doesn't really matter how much BTC that are.
179  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you do if you received 20 bitcoins? on: August 10, 2014, 03:11:33 PM
I would try and return the funds to the sender.

In fact this did happen to me once. An upstart business called BitSpend (remember them?) erroneously refunded me twice to the sum of 12 BTC. I sent it back to them, but in retrospect maybe I should have just kept it because they were out of business no more than a few weeks later.

Hindsight is a bitch, but good for you for sending it back. Most people are very scruple when it comes to money.
180  Economy / Speculation / Re: oh no another fake pump. on: August 10, 2014, 03:09:04 PM
Price has been stable at 580. Hard to see it go below 500 with more merchants accepting bitcoin.

I don't see us falling under $500 anytime in the near future. I think we will be above $600 again soon. There are a lot of people here, however, that argue that prices actually go down as more merchants accept BTC

btc-e and bitstamp now have almost the same price, meaning it won't hold longer. I guess we will see bitstamp around 620 and btc-e around 600, after the stabilization, since I can't see the price going down.

Why does a similar price on btc-e and bitstamp mean anything?

BTC-e normally has prices $5 to $10 below Bitstamp. Thus, it shows the exchange valuations are a bit out of whack. It essentially means that either Bitstamp is $5 to $10 underpriced or BTC-e is $5 to $10 overpriced.

Didn't they stop doing arbitrage on Stamp? Wasn't that the reason for the rather tightly coupled price? I guess if the free market now has to do the arbitrage, it may fluctuate or diverge more! Doesn't it?

You are confusing BTC-e with bitfinex I guess. Bitfinex had strong price ties with bitstamp, but now the price can diverge quite a bit.
