163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sell now? on: May 26, 2014, 07:52:49 PM
Just like the others said: sell.

A few weeks back, I bought some cheap blackcoin at 3000 satoshis. At 90000 satoshis, I refused to sell. Look where it is now. Don't let it happen to you.

Can anyone show me one shitcoin that ever recovered from it's initial pump n dump?
Lucky you only said one, I can't think of any others: Dogecoin.

there's always litecoin!! how about peercoin and namecoin?

some of the innovations in coins like ethereum, NXT, MRO and even DRK (most of these were all premined except MRO i think which is partly their downfall) are interesting and can't necessarily be coded into BTC if only because of monolithic/centralized nature of the bitcoin devs and the foundation. so there may be value there.
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sell now? on: May 26, 2014, 07:41:56 PM
DRK was a great buy if you got in early but i'm not sure if the HODL mentality works the same as for BTC, haha. i'd dump on the next bounce, and i'd set the asks high because those altcoin chasers are crazy!!
165  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 26, 2014, 07:39:29 PM
i think that we will have another push up above 600....maybe to 610 or 620, then maybe have a slide down to the 510-530 area before the next massive wave of buying happens. well, thats what i am hoping for anyway!
166  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: May 24, 2014, 07:59:30 PM
On Finex we have 6k coins to even touch $500. We've got about 36 hours of weekend left. I do not think we will see 460.
Fair point, though it's important to keep in mind that walls can (and regularly do) get pulled.

stamp is 4k to 500, and that is more important to me. i trade on bitfinex, but tbh, walls on bitfinex (that aren't shared liquidity from bitstamp) have a pretty high tendency to evaporate. and walls at 500 are pretty meaningless when those putting them up know we are $25 away from touching them. on bitfinex you can make support appear very strong just with margin bids very from price action...
167  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 24, 2014, 07:55:20 PM

Whales making walls, whales breaking walls. I'm out of words!

You think these are whales??  Cheesy
Remember, remember, the 25th of.. June. >BTC90,000 traded in <4 hours.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.19200

Price was much lower then, so raw coin value will maybe never be this high again.

Still, we're seeing 10k coin volume on a good day right now, but in early '14 we saw 70k on the highest volume day. I'd like to  see that kind of volume again eventually.

Stamp?
More exchanges and people buy off-exchange now. So what's a new healthy volume?

people keep saying this, but how do you know? besides say, secondmarket, isn't it all anecdotal? why is everyone so sure that so much is being bought/sold off the exchanges? i am just not sure i believe it.
168  Economy / Speculation / Re: Double top near 548 on: May 24, 2014, 07:53:51 PM
Double top on the daily chart.  The order book on Bitstamp still looks bullish.  But that double top may be problematic for bulls.

"The pattern is completed when the security falls below (or breaks down) the support level that had backstopped each move the security made, thus marking the beginnings of a downward trend.
"

source- http://www.investopedia.com/university/charts/charts4.asp

A double top is an M not a U it has to break back down past the point of support to be a double top. If it fell to around $420 you could call it a double top...

well, it wouldn't really make much sense to wait for the formation to be confirmed in that case, if you were trying to profit on the move from the top to the neckline... fwiw, i kind of think it will play out like a double top.

that's too bad. always good to have more competition in the marketplace. however, i am not so sure about a consistent price rise. i think we may have another decent leg down to make!! Cool
170  Other / Off-topic / Re: FACEBOOK IS DEAD on: May 24, 2014, 07:48:45 PM
Facebook will still live a couple of years longer until new and more innovative social platform emerge.

what do you think will be the next big thing? i have tried to wrap my brain around it and honestly, the only conclusion i can come to is that social networking is going to die off eventually
171  Other / Off-topic / Re: IF YOU HAD 1,000,000 DOLLARS WHAT WOULD YOU BUY??? on: May 23, 2014, 03:49:50 AM
yeah i'd just buy some real estate, maybe set up a small business. no more paying rent. not really exciting, but i'm salivating just thinking about it, to be honest. Cheesy
172  Economy / Services / Re: WE PAY FOR SIGNATURE MORE. UP TO 0.0014 BTCs PER POST. WEEKLY PAYOUTS. on: May 22, 2014, 08:58:19 PM
Thank you, I've recieved my payout as UpDown has promised.

I'm wondering, who are the spammers
1JE6n6udjaJEwKKjJKNjUBvWdtqNFkh1o1 and 18DtKCK86CKHduAg2QTz2TiYq3AcnLL3fd?  They have received 0.8424 BTC and 0.4572 BTC respectively.

Because I've NEVER seen a hero member spam that much, I know that they are probably Full member or maybe senior member.
0.8424 BTC = ~100 posts/day at a senior member's rate...  They were probably spamming, I suggest you look into them xD

Well, either they are spammers, or post random posts, OR just have a lot of free time.  A bit too much for a human being Tongue

It was Ranlo and Coinjournal. We're starting to watch hard since 3rd week.

...and this is what Ranlo said after the last Payout !!!

Look at his previous posts. They're all short, lol. So I'd go with the latter.

Also, this post is to confirm my payment was received! And I will +trust you now too, UpDown.BT. THANKS!
I noticed that as well (see my edited post). It seems really sketchy.

I definitely think that the OP needs to evaluate posts people make. The campaign induces the desire to spam, and that's not good. On top of this, a lot of people around here are making worthless posts to try and get their count up.

Two solutions:

1) Open it up to only Sr/Hero (which helps cut down on a lot of this stuff)
2) Evaluate posts and remove people that are spamming

Otherwise he's going to run out of money quick, and those of us that are legitimate are going to get screwed like always.

Ranlo is still sending PM to OP to enjoy privilege. This person has not learned anything but shameless oiling.

Hey, UpDown.BT, can you please check out the PM I sent you yesterday? Guessing you missed it, :p.

Thanks!

what are you saying exactly? i have seen ranlo around. seems like a solid poster and does not seem to spam.
173  Other / Off-topic / Re: Your Highest Earning IN A Day on: May 22, 2014, 08:30:08 PM
i made $10k in one day shorting bitcoin. but i also lost a $1000 here and there as well. but that was my best. it was back in february of this year Smiley

Very nice. Of course all profits and losses are only real until we cash out/spend our coins right? Just like they point out in the Wolf of Wall Street.

I'm still waiting for my big win until I can cash some out and then trade with the rest.

Well in that vein, I urge all to -- once you have made significant gains over your initial investment -- to take some profit off the table, at least your initial buy-in. Dont be one of those investors with massive unrealized gains only to lose it all!!

Definitely. It's so easy to keep gunning for wins that are compounded by profits.

I suppose people will take different strategies - some will argue that they are happy to trade with their investment, while others seek to trade purely on profits. It depends on the success you get if you are fortunate/smart/patience (delete as necessary) enough to make significant returns on your investment.

FYI: I'm of the 'cash out your investment and trade with profits' group.

same here! it was such a HUGE load off to finally realize some of my btc gains. now it's all profit -- and even though i may miss some potential gains by cashout some out, now my wife and anyone else cant fault me for investing in it! Smiley
174  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: May 22, 2014, 08:24:12 PM
has there been discussion anywhere about what the best deal is for different situations? with all the different rates for different ranks, per post vs per month, it is all so confusing!! i just took a shot and went with updown.bt...
175  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help for newbies with starting btc on: May 22, 2014, 08:20:57 PM
Sig deal is interesting, looks like you need a few posts to achieve this deal. Makes me feel like a cyber whore, like I am giving up something of myself..lol

This Bitvisitor site got stuck on a page,so for anyone that runs into that just head back to the initial page and start again. Otherwise your waiting 5 minutes and getting directed to the same page over and over.

yes most of the sig ad deals now require a minimum forum position like "member" or "full member" probably to root out multiple accounts and spammers. but if you end up sticking around a while, no reason not to do it! well besides the cyber whore feeling hehe.
176  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there any paying get paid to work website that pays in bitcoins? on: May 22, 2014, 08:19:35 PM
It looks like http://coinworker.com/ is still around, but i have no idea if there is much work available or what the payouts are like now.

i used that site last year sometime and made some bitcents here and there. i dont think it is worth it anymore. small payouts and not enough tasks. Undecided

179  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it better to keep your coins on an exchange or in your local wallet on: January 19, 2014, 09:46:02 PM
if i plan on holding coins for a while, i keep them local. no reason to keep them on the exchange unless you are planning to sell in the short term.

coinbase sucks btw.

i'd watch the altcoin markets. they go through hype cycles like bitcoin.
