161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is the creator of the bitcoin??? on: February 23, 2014, 02:57:40 PM
Guys, I am really confused who made the bitcoin...

Why don't you ask the google?

163  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: February 21, 2014, 08:23:32 PM
In case it's relevant to anyone, the email address "erin@hashfast.com", now insta-bounces. I guess she left (forgive me if this is old news).

Have to wonder what's going on with John gone, and HF-Engineer Phil suddenly not posting in the tech thread as of 6 days ago.

HF-Engineer / Phil still logs into bitcointalk every day (at least for the last 3 days, including today).

He probably violated the company policy of providing the worse possible after-sales service known to man, so he was told to stop posting.
164  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast BabyJet users thread on: February 21, 2014, 08:12:39 PM
One tip:

If you happen to point your BabyJet to a bitcoin-qt wallet, make sure you turn off the minepeon donation.

bitcoin-qt uses GetWork, and the minepeon donation uses stratum.

The switch from GetWork to stratum works (sort'of), but when it switches back to GetWork, cgminer now looks for a stratum longpoll on that GetWork, which causes it to go insane (lots of errors).
165  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast BabyJet users thread on: February 21, 2014, 07:43:01 PM
But I don't know where cgminer is started from in the first place, so I can't modify it to do that.

Quote from: HF-Engineer
In MinePeon, the shell script that calls cgminer is:
/opt/minepeon/etc/init.d/miner-start.sh

Hah! Thanks. I see it's already running under tmux. So to connect to that, just type:
tmux attach -t cgminer

Then when you're done and want to get out, use ctrl+b, then d

166  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast BabyJet users thread on: February 21, 2014, 07:06:01 PM
yes ues an app like putty , then to log in use u: minepeon pw: peon
Afaik his problem is that SSH to putty will connect him to a new terminal and there seems to be no way to connect to the console session to see cgminer's interface.
Maybe this link helps: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=299286 but I think you want something that will attach to the console terminal without any interaction needed on host.

I'm not exactly sure why you need to do this tbh, if you say "interact with cgminer" what kind of interaction you got in mind? Switching pool?

Right. In general you can run a Linux app under screen by using e.g.
screen vi

or something, and then connect from another terminal session by using
screen -r

But I don't know where cgminer is started from in the first place, so I can't modify it to do that.

Mostly I want to be able to clear statistics in cgminer. (I'm doing solo-mining and want to clear out Best Share every now and again without rebooting the miner.)
167  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast BabyJet users thread on: February 21, 2014, 05:05:41 PM
This may be an obvious question...

In the RPI minepeon dist for the BabyJet, how do I get cgminer to run under 'screen' (so I can do screen -r)?

The 'Monitor' in the web page is cute and all, but I want to be able to interact with that cgminer instance, and you can't do that from the web page.

I'm not a linux wiz, but afaik it should be possible to SSH onto the RPi's console screen, no?

That part I figured out Smiley.

But the current cgminer isn't running under screen right now, and I don't know how to get it to run under screen.

(I'm also not a linux wiz.)
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [TAK] TAKEICOIN *SHA256* Decentralized Currency. Centralized Purpose. on: February 21, 2014, 04:57:34 PM
it is on purpose of course.

Why? (What purpose does it serve?)

Is there a full description of how this works? How do we calculate total hashrate against the coin if the difficulty isn't directly related to the hashrate?
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [TAK] TAKEICOIN *SHA256* Decentralized Currency. Centralized Purpose. on: February 21, 2014, 04:03:47 PM
Is there a bug in the difficulty retargeting, or is it on purpose that that difficulty will oscillate constantly between very low (10K) and very high (700K)? Or is this a MULTIPOOL effect (on sha256 though??).

Actually I don't dislike that it does that - it's kind'a exciting.

However, the coin may get trapped at the top if you have a sudden exodus of miners.

Actually I take this back - it's annoying that at the top of the graph it takes sometimes 3 minutes to mine a block. When you're trying to transfer money somewhere this gets painful.

So is this on purpose?

Woo-hoo!

I just solo-mined my first ever SHA256 block:
http://altexplorer.net/block/0000000000001fb04706569c9a07eaa99477fdfd81021d7da76750bbbc9697de

It even has real transfers in there - not just an empty 1000 block.

For the first time I'm feeling that I made a useful contribution to the coiniverse Smiley.

Saying you are female, and actually being female are not the same... This is the internet after-all!

There is no definitive proof that there are any women on the internet.
174  Economy / Service Discussion / Mt Gox's new office on: February 20, 2014, 03:49:01 PM
I'm generally the last person to spot things, so this may be very old news, but I just noticed that Mt Gox is saying that they:
"had to relocate MtGox to our previous office building in Shibuya (details can be found here https://support.mtgox.com/home)"

That office address is:
MtGox Co.,Ltd.
Cerulean Tower 15F
261 Sakuragaokacho
1508512 Shibuya Tokyo
Japan

However, Cerulean Tower floor 15 is not a general office. It belongs to a company called "The Executive Centre", which is a business that offers virtual offices.

From:
http://www.executivecentre.com/virtual_offices/faq

A virtual office provides your business with the corporate image and business infrastructure of a multinational company without the cost. Your business will get a prestigious business address and a designated local phone number with a receptionist answering your calls in your company name. Professionally trained secretarial staff will manage your correspondence, and can provide additional administrative and support services as you need them.

If you go to the Executive Centre link above, and click on the Virtual Offices link above, then click on Locations, you will see under Tokyo they have the Shibuya Cerulean Tower, which when clicked on, reveals that they have floor 15 - the new Mt Gox address.

http://www.executivecentre.com/location/shibuya_cerulean_tower

Level 15, Cerulean Tower, 26-1 Sakuragaoka-cho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan 150-8512

So I'm just curious how Mt Gox plans to "relocate" into what is essentially a phoneline.

The deserve the name ScamFast more and more everyday.

No they don't. They really don't.

They can't have "fast" in any part of their name.

Ah sorry I thought Scamming was the ONLY thing they did fast  Grin

Not even - it took them a week to allow me to pay for my upgrade kit.

177  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: February 19, 2014, 10:49:44 PM
The EVO seems to be a bit overprice, no?

$6800 for 2TH in April-ish, where you can get 2TH worth of Ants at the end of February (guaranteed) for $9000.

In March you can make $3500 with 2TH, meaning the EVO is at least $1300 too much. That's if it ships on April 1st, which we all know... it won't.

Realistically it will ship at end of June, making it about $3000 overpriced.
178  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: February 19, 2014, 02:03:41 PM
Hashfast sales is back up with the Evo 3

interesting. 2 TB +- 20%.

So -20% == 1600 MHz.

Is this what the MPP is going to look like? The timing seems to fit.
179  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: February 19, 2014, 08:34:32 AM
Could be just 2 Bj's in one case. I have 12 BJ's. I wanted to put them all in 6 cases to save space. He has a cable joining them today.

I thought about that - that makes sense if you keep them.

However, if you sell them - why on earth would you want to keep an empty BabyJet case for yourself?  You can easily get $1000 more selling 2x 400's complete with cases etc. compared to selling a single 800 unit.

PS: What do you mean by "he has a cable joining them"?
180  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: February 19, 2014, 07:52:49 AM
Look at this auction - this appears to be a BabyJet with an upgrade kit, complete with 2 Power Supplies (and fitting pipes):

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=111283047373

I thought nobody has yet received any upgrade kits?
