As of now, only vTorrent Core is open sourced, and the reason we need to keep our full client (2FA included) closed source is to prevent other dev to clone our work and claim it as their own (or falsely claim as their project being one of the first to implement those features).
When Bittorrent part of vTorrent is reveal in a few release from now, hopefully our project will then be wildly known in crypto-currency space and the decision to open sourced other part of our project will then be considered again.

Dev has said torrents are coming in next releases. Also said next client is coming with I2P and Tor integration and other features as well. They are working out some small bugs. Additionally there will be another hard fork at block 1300000. This may or may not come with another new client. Not long to wait and see as I think dev will explain when the new wallet is here shortly. In other words, BitTorrent will be integrated soon. So yes there will be innovation. And keep in mind this is already the first coin to implement 2FA But its coming, can you give me a list of completed working updates made since its inception. And Also, Who is the target user of vtr down the line. I haven't been here the entire time. But completed developments off the top of my head: 2 factor authentication with Authy In-client Bittrex trading HD wallet (BIP 44) Perhaps there are more. The users are people who already use torrents / torrenting sites. People who want privacy when they are torrenting. People who just want an anon currency. Sounds like a flop to me. All that in all this time. A talented dev could probably do that in a week. I was going to invest here but now I'm putting my money into the PureVidz ICO instead. This coin sucks. And he came all the way here to tell you too! |

As promised, new client with major upgrades is coming soon, it is still being worked on since there are some thread-related bugs causing the client to crash on certain conditions.

So naturally I've been thinking about this. It sounds interesting. But is it BitTorrent? I would actually like to see a video of the BitTorrent functionality vs. a release with some bugs. But if it is a BitTorrent release, then: "shut up and take my money". My bold guess is that this might be it. BitTorrent + Blockchain. But then again, where is the Tor and I2P, plus Group chat features? It could be that. So there you have it. Not really sure, but whatever it is, it's going to keep adding strength to the network. The last update was actually a lot better than I thought, it's just all hidden away. Either way you look at it, there's a huge untapped market for this technology. So many angry people on this thread attacking anyone who asks some questions. You know when trying to build a community you should welcome questions, comments and even competition.
From what I've been reading, negative comments seem to be directed at people posting FUD, which seems pretty commonplace amongst all threads. Why can't people just wait for the fork? We'll all get a chance to see if VTR was a good investment after the fork. Personally I think VTR is a good investment. I could be wrong. I've been wrong in the past. If someone has to pay for downloading torrents nobody will use a system like that.
I was assuming that it would be "charge what you want", or make it free. I guess we'll just have to see what its like when it comes out. You can ask for features to be added. What would be on your top 3 wish list? 1. Built in media player. 2. The ability to pay in vtr to advertise media on a "front page" of the client, or show media that might be trending? 3. The ability to set a limit on how much you want to make on your project before it becomes free. 3a (example). My brother owns a recording studio http://www.acaciajade.com up in Denver, and while he would love to spread his studios music around for free, that doesn't pay the mortgage and keep the lights on. If he was able to place a song on vTorrent and say "I want to make 100vtr" on this song... after that it becomes free, I think it might resonate with people using vTorrent and persuade some of these torrenters(?) to chip in a few VTR to push the paid amount past the point where it becomes free for all. |
