It's unregulated so there is always someone with insider information - knowing about announcements a few hours before...

It's a bit of a "greater fools theory" - if you know charts and are OK with managing emotional spikes and have time to monitor trades and invest in tools and education = "easy" win Smiley
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Should I invest in GPU mining? on: June 09, 2017, 10:12:54 PM
Right now it's insanely profitable.  But don't expect it to last.

"Mainstream" media covering that: https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/an-idiots-guide-to-building-an-ethereum-mining-rig?utm_source=mbfb

I always thought there is someone with more time, cheaper electricity, safer storage, more experience... Now... I'm considering diving into mining as well...

Same GPUs for simplicity of configuration.

Is there a website explaining which GPU per hash per electricity usage to buy?

Or buy any, as everything is sold out anyway...
163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to sign a message from a paper wallet without importing your private key? on: June 09, 2017, 10:06:23 PM
without adding my private key onto the internet

You can run your software locally, without connecting to the internet.

Some software is required, humans are error-prone when hashing and signing messages Smiley

Is it possible to do in a live environment for extra security? If not, what would I need in order to do this? Bitcoin core?

Here you go: https://github.com/aeternity/wiki/wiki/How-to-sign-a-message-with-a-private-key%3F

I've contributed one of these methods...

Tell me if you need any help.

- Make offline copy of the HTML.
- Copy on USB stick to offline computer
- Run the website offline
- Sign it via HTML / JavaScript
- Put the signature on USB stick / write it down

PROFIT / DONE

164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Brainwallet - BIP39 - seed words - backup phrase - same 12 words for all wallets on: June 09, 2017, 09:40:29 PM
Depends on if a valid key can be generated with any 12 random words you want.  I generate my keys offline, so when I get a set of seed words to backup my wallet address the seed words are derived from my key, not the other way around.  If you indeed can pick 12 words and it generates a valid key from that then you could do that but would you really want to?  If you get one wallet compromised you'll have them all exposed, no?

12 words.

Then https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamir%27s_Secret_Sharing

3 out of 5, 5 out of 7...

Mums home, workplace, email, Dropbox, home, friend, wallet in my pocket where I store cards...

Something resilient and practical.
165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Brainwallet - BIP39 - seed words - backup phrase - same 12 words for all wallets on: June 09, 2017, 08:54:44 PM
Considering how the seed words are generated based on wallet address, good luck with that!
Excuse me if I'm wrong... I think it can work the other way round - if I'm able to restore wallet from seed - it means that I can:

1) pick 12 words at random (good random)
2) use restore wallet option
3) note the private key / wallet address

Please explain in layman terms what am I missing?
166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Brainwallet - BIP39 - seed words - backup phrase - same 12 words for all wallets on: June 09, 2017, 05:46:57 PM
BIP39: https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/bip-0039-wordlists.md

12 (or 24) words is a standard for wallet security.

Too bad there are many currencies and many wallets...

If is possible to use the same 12 words seed for wallets for BTC, ETH, ANT (Aragon)...

I want to minimise the surface of error and keep my coins securely...

(currently keeping them on exchanges - that are unregulated - theoretically it's not me who owns them)

Many thanks in advance.

168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most promising 50 satoshi or below coins on: June 09, 2017, 05:11:01 PM
I've invested in LDOGE: https://steemit.com/cryptocurrencies/@genesisre/trading-altcoins-efficient-markets-ldoge-and-html5

YoBit has plenty of low-value coins with significant trade volume.

If you are about to pump their value - let me know!

(I've placed buy order at 1 sat to some of them, don't have time, energy, attention to actively monitor them)

169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [STRATIS] Should I invest on: June 09, 2017, 05:03:35 PM
The coin looks promising, but is getting hit on poloniex.
Should I buy now or wait a little more? Huh

As of now it's #8 on https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/stratis/ with $887,869,468 valuation

Can it go much higher now?

Low reward, high risk.

(I might be wrong)

Who plays there every day    Grin äääähh   today  ?

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/mooncoin/#charts

I think that someone or a team is trying to play this game today (mainly in Bleutrade) with one goal: The acquisition of most coins in these price levels ! Smiley

No, it was only one seller:) he sold a lot, i bet from block #1115659 or #1115665  (you need 25 confirmations on bleutrade).

And another one is coming #1115688

How do you obtain such detailed information about block numbers?

Do you have some software analysing blocks?
171  Other / Off-topic / Re: Going to be homeless in 19 days advice? on: June 09, 2017, 04:44:06 PM
Pretty much, i'm a 22 Year Old Canadian  that lives in Toronto.

You live in the first world country.

https://genesis.re/wiki#Homeless_experiment

I actually wanted to become homeless by design.

First thing on the shopping list - new laptop - so that battery lasts longer and I charge from battery pack.

Economy of being homeless doesn't add up so I'm still paying for the rent.

So much abundance everywhere, change your energy :

CONCRETE ADVICE: START RUNNING

- more oxygen
- more energy
- connecting with highly motivational people
- no cost involved (you already have some sort of shoes)
172  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you smoke weed? on: June 09, 2017, 04:40:42 PM
Weed:
- energetic
- enthusiastic
- euphoric

Hard to fall asleep.

The next day - no sleep - tired - exhausted - low on energy - kind of hangover.

I need to be consistently high on life so now weed for me 🙏
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [ICO][Bounty]: Official SONM project bounty campaign thread on: June 09, 2017, 03:43:44 PM

Blog posts campaign

We reserve 80 000 SNM tokens for the blog contest bounty campaign.

Blog bounty will be distributed between the creators of the posts, reviews and press releases about SONM project.
Anyone can participate - just create a 600+ words long text about SONM and publish it on your website. The better is your text - the more stakes you will receive.

Blog contest rules:

1. All the texts must be published online and accessible by everyone.
2. Your text must be original.
3. We don’t allow websites with no audience or new websites; the website where you choose to publish your text, must be at least 2 months old, and must have the user activity.
4. Your text must be 600 words or more..
5. Your post must include at least 2 links: to www.sonm.io website, SONM ICO ANN thread, other SONM social media or to the other articles about the project.
6. Make sure you have the full understanding of the SONM platform - the project is very complicated from technological point of view. Read the SONM project Whitepaper and Business Overview document first - you can find them on our website (www.sonm.io)

Some ideas for the posts:
Explain the SONM architecture. Why it's so cool? What's the benefits for the miners? What's the benefits for computing power buyers?
How will miners interact with hubs and computing power buyers?
What are the benefits of SONM in comparison with competing projects?
When will SONM ICO start and why should one participate?

- any good texts regarding SONM project

Just make sure that your text is technically correct, and doesn't have typos and errors.

Important!
Before the creating the text fill in this blog contest participation form to let us know your details and also, to know the website(s) on which you are going to publish your text.

Blog contest participation form:

We will check all the requests and if your website(s) is eligible - you will find yourself in this Blog contest participants list (and later you will be able to check the number of stakes you've received):

Blog contest participants list:

Blog contest bounty
Texts creators receive 10, 20, or 30 stakes depending on the quality of their posts. SONM team makes the decision on the quality of the post, and this decision is final and not negotiable.
Blog contest bounty tokens will be distributed proportionally among the participants according to the amount of received stakes.

What if my post is "neutral"?

I understand you want much hype, but what if I explain my own point of view: "do your own research, due diligence, never invest more than you can afford to lose"?

I present some positive points too, I'm just saying I'm rather neutral, not over-hyped... Does it still qualify?

Sorry. You have to show actual mining software before ANYONE is going to take you seriously.
You say just use your Computer, Playstation, Phone to start mining!
WELL, HOW? WHERE IS THE SOFTWARE? That is a bold claim with Vaporware.
Post the software and github links so we can see you are not a pure scam.
Your whitepaper is 20 pages of crap and no where does it even say what algo all these devices will be
mining. It seems you are heavily into ETH, but do you really think a cell phone or playstation is
going to mine dagger? Put some specifics into the whitepaper about the mining instead of pre-funding
and then funding a vaporware ICO.

This is something I was also considering.

Proof of concept / working demo.

Their Github: https://github.com/sonm-io

Can you find the actual product there?
