The price seems to be slowly crawling its sorry ass back up.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [EXCHANGE] Create app to help exchange new altcoin - newchg.com on: January 09, 2014, 04:06:04 AM
Still getting an invalid value error for Monacoin for any price below 1.

I wonder how people are even putting up orders in the first place? None of the big 3 browsers work at all.
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 09, 2014, 03:33:11 AM
Whoa I missed a fair bit while I was gone.

I don't know where all this hate towards the dev is coming from. He has his own priorities and it isn't just up to him what happens with Catcoin's code; it's up to all of us. And while I was initially against a second fork, in light of the continuing hashrate death spiral and absurd difficulty oscillations, I think another fork is required after all, to introduce either some kind of two-tiered difficulty adjustment mechanic, a loyalty system, or perhaps even a combination of the two. Because at this point it's become quite clear that someone or something is heavily manipulating the difficulty even after the fork. And Catcoin being the first coin to introduce an anti-oscillation system into its code could really give it some much needed attention. Apparently a simple 4x limit on difficulty changes is far too wide a margin these days.

I'm not saying anything should be done right away, this time around we should take our time to implement another fix. A second fork in the space of a week is almost guaranteed suicide. This time, we need to completely eliminate the problem, or at least as much as feasibly possible without destroying the essence of the coin or needing yet another fork in the future. We run the risk of exchanges like Cryptsy not tolerating any more forks and simply removing CAT altogether. However in the meantime all major pools could implement that loyalty system that was discussed earlier, or something along those lines.

Also I'll take this chance to remind everyone that the Coin Payments Coin Vote is still ongoing.

While the price has recovered back to ~0.00041, those two sell orders higher up in the list (a combined 70k worth) are still there. I'm a little worried that the price may never recover back above that point at this rate (volume is nearly non-existent these days), but I'll still keep a hold of my CAT in the meantime.

And my computer has been mining CAT nonstop for the last few days, so I know I'm not contributing to the sorry state of affairs at least. Not that 300KH/s is going to influence much anyway.. though at this point even that is a significant portion of the current net hashrate..
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 08, 2014, 12:25:06 PM
Also WTF @ those 32k and 36.6k CAT sell orders @ 0.00059 and 0.000595 respectively. To think there's someone out there that actually has that much (I very much doubt they are from separate people).. I mean that's almost 41BTC worth combined. What the flying FUCK.

rly ? here :

Retarget: 2016 blocks
Starting difficulty: 0.00024414

...

The point is that up until now I have not seen a single buy or sell order anywhere near that high, and now suddenly there's two massive sell orders at below 0.0006 BTC. I mean yeah, I've seen some pretty large ones (around 15k or so max), but nothing in that league.

Looks like we won't be hitting 0.0006 again any time soon.
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 08, 2014, 10:23:52 AM
Odd, we have lost quite a significant amount of hashrate over the last few hours. We're at around 168MH/s according to the Catcoin Hashrate & Difficulty charts.

I wonder what happened? It shouldn't have dropped to this level under normal circumstances, it should be closer to 260-300MH/s if the last few days were any indicator.

【WTB】want to buy 100K dubstep coin
escrow must be.

if you have ,pm me with offer

That would be just under 1/3 of the total amount of WUBS mined so far.. surely that's a joke or typo?
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 08, 2014, 06:37:59 AM

Cryptographic
Anonimous
Transactions
It's too serious to say meow.

Think this one more like real coin and more serious. CATcoin doesn't need rebranding, but let this coin be.

Also I took the liberty of cutting down the size of that image. God damn it's massive.

Of course if anyone actually wants to use it for something, I recommend using the original image for optimal quality.

Assuming you are in the USA, Coinbase is better.

Coinbase BTC purchase fee = 1%
Coinjar BTC purchase fee = 2%

Coinbase BTC sell fee = 1%
Coinjar BTC sell fee = 1.1%

Coinbase current price per BTC = $808.30 USD
Coinjar current price per BTC = $818.28 USD

If you're in Australia, ignore this post Smiley

Yeah nah I'm Australian. Coinbase isn't even an option for me since they're US only. I also applied at Bitstamp but they rejected my proof of residence because it was 1 day over the 3 month limit and I don't have a more recent bill. And I did apply at Mt.Gox but that was nearly 2 weeks ago, and they recently went from saying it'd take 10 business days to 20.

So Coinjar it is.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 08, 2014, 05:03:32 AM
Speaking of BTC, I finally got approved at Coinjar. About freaking time.

Too bad I don't really have the money at the moment to buy BTC to stock up on CAT.

Thank you seller!

What did I miss?
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 07, 2014, 05:10:30 PM
You know what to do

None of the major pool operators have linked to this on their website yet.
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [EXCHANGE] Create app to help exchange new altcoin - newchg.com on: January 07, 2014, 04:42:46 PM
As others are reporting, it's not possible to put in values less than 1 for the price per coin (at least with MONA). I tried with Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox and none of them work.

There's quite clearly a problem somewhere.
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MONA] Monacoin LAUNCHING 2014/01/01 0:00 GMT on: January 07, 2014, 12:55:37 PM
I like how CoinedUp will add all these other shitcoins but then you have MONA which launched with virtually no controversy and is the first real coin aimed at the Japanese and yet it's already losing hashrate and is dying a slow death because there's no easy way to trade.

It's been nearly a full week now. There's two threads on the subreddit, the one that actually shows up in search has 47 upvotes and the other one has 49 upvotes (not going to bother mentioning downvotes since either there's someone going around downvoting everything out of spite or threads are automatically downvoted for whatever reason). Other coins with less votes have already made it onto the site..

I'm starting to wonder if they even read their own subreddit. That, or they are simply refusing to add it since the dev himself isn't the one pushing for the addition to the exchange. If that's the case then I doubt any exchange will add the coin. The dev himself needs to get in on this, even if he is Japanese.

A coin with no dev support is dead in the water, no matter how big the community behind it gets.
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 07, 2014, 11:30:36 AM
If we want Catcoin to survive we need to stop being so fixated on the price and actually start building it up as a currency.

Which is why we need to get more votes at the Coin Payments Coin Vote. I strongly urge pool operators to link to this on their respective websites.

Also I'm no longer a Jr. Member, thank god.
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 07, 2014, 11:24:31 AM
Or what I find to be far more probable: the numbers were thrown off by the fork and are simply wrong.

Frankly we were lucky to survive the first hard fork, another fork to impose some kind of 'loyalty credit' so soon after the first is not likely to go down well.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][CAT] Catcoin Pool - cat.poolerino.com, PROP, 0% Fee, ONLY 60 Confirmations on: January 07, 2014, 10:13:22 AM
Bump.

Poolerino is one of the only (if not THE only) CAT pool using a Proportional setup instead of PPLNS. Given how so many people are unwilling to move from other pools to redistribute the hashrate to prevent another fork due to the extensive use of PPLNS across the major CAT pools, Poolerino is a good alternative if you don't want to feel locked to such a pool when redistribution is required.

Honestly we need a fair balance of PPLNS and Proportional pools.

Poolerino has had its problems the last few days, but it seems stable enough now and really needs the miners. The shoutbox on the dashboard is pretty useful too, most other pools don't even have that. Oh and of course there's the 60 confirmations for payouts instead of the standard 120.

I do have one suggestion though for Mike: consider adding Coin Payments Coin Vote to the noticeboard on the pool website. We desperately need votes to at least catch up to Lottocoin and Earthcoin so that we have a chance of being added to CoinPayments.net. After all, the value of the coin will only increase if there's a use for the coin.

Any users from other pools reading this should also suggest this to their respective owners while the vote is still ongoing.
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 07, 2014, 09:44:08 AM
Finally hit 200 CAT, not bad considering the fact I only have an Nvidia card and made most of it from trading.

Yet another reminder to vote for CAT here: Coin Payments Coin Vote

We should have a ton more votes than we currently have. Did we really lose that many over the last few days?

I propose that all pools advertise that url to get us some more votes from people that may not have been visiting this thread recently.

SInce we aren't doing much else, here's a catcoin app that myself and a friend made. Our first version is available, updated one will be put up sometime later this week.

Feedback here or via PM plz!!

Doesn't even work for me on Windows 8.1 x64

Aww, haven't really tested it yet on Windows 8...what happens?

It.. doesn't even run. Nothing happens at all.

Hmm, we'll have to get a test platform to see why. Makes me a sad kitty..

Well I don't think it's my setup anyway.. I mean Minecraft works fine and it's also Java.

And fuck this 360 second post cooldown, how goddamned long do you have to stuck as a Jr. Member for?

kk, think I found the problem. Uploaded a new version.

I have both 32 and 64 bit versions of Java installed as well.

I even tried opening it through command prompt but no luck there. No errors popped up other than what was shown in that image either.
