161  Economy / Reputation / Re: What made Spoetnik such a troll? on: April 18, 2016, 11:45:38 PM
In Spoet's defense, I have noticed his posts to be less inflammatory in recent weeks and some of them are quite intelligent or at least to the point.

Has his medication been changed? Is he turning over a new leaf? Can it last?
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest-able Altcoins? on: April 18, 2016, 11:34:49 PM
I have a theory.  That alt coins fore tell the future of bitcoin and now ETH.
Look at the ones that where launched in 2013-early2014. (must be at least ranked in the top100)
Almost everyone had a bubble up boom ... a long valley of despair ... and are now slowly but surely working back up in Market Cap.
Will they hit their peaks, maybe but not likely for a few more years.  But they are in the lows and will see highs.  Better returns than BTC if that helps.

The point is they have gone thru a half dozen market cycles.  And are 2-5 skips ahead of the BTC market cycle.  ETH, lolz.  Is just at the year 2013 bubble pop of BTC.  And doomed to test sub $1 supports.

You want invest-able, the numbers are out there, stick with older alts that have survived.  Look at their charts.
And avoid high inflation Wink

Lots of opportunity to make steady profit. It may not be the big money you can make on a shitcoin pump but its safe money.  I would rather baghold an established coin than the shitcoin-of-the-day, soon-to-be-worthless coin.
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where on Google Maps is the crypto bagholders cemetery? on: April 05, 2016, 04:04:55 PM
There should be a thread, club, or organization like AA for bagholders.  They can all commiserate together in one place pumping their respective bags.

Hold it! We already have such a place. bitcointalk.org.
164  Other / Off-topic / Re: Did you watch The<Star Wars: The Force Awakens> "? on: April 05, 2016, 03:42:58 PM
I watched it. Great movie for 11 year olds.

165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Two Bittrex accounts hacked today. on: April 02, 2016, 06:29:52 PM
Most likely a browser exploit but Mint linux was hacked a while back and a compromised iso was downloaded for a day or two.

I see where syscoin is having a comeback. Right on.

Just curious. Sys had their IPO money stolen from Mintpal/Moolah. How have they kept development going all this time?  Ethereum burned through 18 mil to get some code out the door.

Btw, I don't own either.

Will Vitalik flee the country after the Eth scheme implodes?

He won't flee Switzerland but he might have "some splainin to do".

He's already admitted to dumping coins for continued funding and 2 million eth for a "cushion" in fiat. This was in early March. God only knows what he's dumped since then. They wanted 20 - 50 million to fulfill the "vision".  https://news.bitcoin.com/vitalik-buterin-ethereums-price-rise-increases-our-sovereignty/

Few rules and little enforcement regarding cryptocurrencies so these guys can do what ever they want.  Its like taking candy away from a baby.

So ... Its pretty darned nice of folk to finance this lad yet again. Will it pay off in years to come? Time will tell but history shows us these projects fade away.

ETH GETTING DUMPED HARD!!!!

Duh. Every pump has its dump be it eth, btc, or whatever.

Feel sorry for those who got sucked in by "eth will be $50 in a month" and other such rubbish. The pump went a lot longer than I thought it would for a much higher price. Its been a ticking time bomb for weeks.

The pumperdumpers/insiders got rich and their suckers now belong to the fraternity of bagholders.

Sell for a loss now or wait on the hope of another round of pumping. Sometimes they never go back up to former glory.

Waiting and hoping is historically the worst decision.

Has bitcoin returned to $1000. No.
Has litecoin returned to $48. No.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Vitalik flee the country after the Eth scheme implodes? on: March 15, 2016, 06:27:13 PM
Switzerland is famous for its financial privacy.  Good place to bank and keep your affairs private especially if you don't want agencies like Fincen and SEC sniffing around.
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think coins with IPO/premines will succeed and be popular/mainstream? on: March 15, 2016, 06:08:13 PM
IPO/premines/instamines are all free money to a few.

People like throwing their money away in the hopes of making a quick buck. A few win but most lose and the cycle of "free money" continues.

Its like going to Staples(for example) and buying that hundred dollar extended warranty they push on you. Chances are you will never use it and if you do you will probably be denied. Its "free money". Everyone loves "free money".
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin - getting stealth features this year? on: March 15, 2016, 05:55:58 PM
Nice to hear there is something happening with Litecoin although I have only heard it here, I will need to look around and find out more information.

Stealth feature though? is there a massive need for this add-on as this was a huge selling point for the hundred altcoins we have seen over the last year or so, if it has a real purpose then great but if it is just going to be added on for the sake of saying "we are now stealth" then it would do more damage perhaps.

I think there is merit to private transactions or having the option of such.  Lot's of honest people and businesses may not want their transactions tracked for many reasons.

172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to Create my own currency? on: March 13, 2016, 10:56:55 PM
You can launch your own currency on NXT.

They have a 'Monetary System' that allows you to define all the parameters you want for your coin and then simply click launch.

You won't have to bother about having your coin secured against 51% attack as NXT does that for you.

I think it costs 1000 NXT, which is $7 or so.

NXT 2.0 is also in the works which will allow you to not need NXT coin anymore as currently on the Monetary System you need to send your coin but also nxt coin to the people as they need it to pay for every transaction.

However with NXT 2.0 your coinholders will be able to pay transaction fees also in your own coin. You will also be able to fork NXT and not just have your own coin, but also your own alias system, or market place, or asset exchange, or voting system, etc.

Hope you join our community Smiley

Thanks for your post. You don't hear much about Nxt around here and I was unaware of its capabilities.
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to Create my own currency? on: March 13, 2016, 01:52:08 AM
Yes, Ethereum makes it super simple to create your own shitcoin.

Thanks Ethereum  Roll Eyes
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Changed my mind: Litecoin is, indeed, DEAD. Sold my last 10,000 LTC. on: March 12, 2016, 11:37:24 PM
Ltc. Eth. Ltc. Eth. Ltc. Eth. Ltc. Eth. Ltc. Eth. Ltc. Eth.

I'm getting dizzy. Make up your mind already.
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POLL - which coins are scams as defined in the OP? on: March 12, 2016, 09:24:30 PM
Another reason I am leaving this forum, is I realized the average IQ here is far too low. And I am doing myself a disservice (stunting my own intellectual growth) by not being challenged by people who are smarter than me. I am wasting my time by choosing to post in a forum where the IQs are so low.

Wew... I'm glad you're not leaving on my account... That's a relief.

It always hurts to be called stupid even if it is true.  Cry
I guess there is no delicate way of putting it. (as I walk away knuckles dragging on the ground)

Its too bad you feel that way. You are an asset to the community. I understand you gotta do what you gotta do.
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think coins with IPO/premines will succeed and be popular/mainstream? on: March 11, 2016, 05:53:59 PM
Until a better system of distribution comes along i will stick with POW or even POS maybe.
I don't jump on board with Angel Investing or Crowd funding IPO / ICO etc bullshit
simply because we did not make a better alternative method yet.

IPO shit was born out of the need for dev's to continue flogging THOUSANDS of news shit coins non stop.

It was taking the easy scammy way out.
And users who are only interested in profit from any coin (even if obviously scammy) are fine with it.
just so long as they make money off them.

THIS IS WRONG !

This rapes the spirit of true Altcoin dev's.
I enjoy the technical aspects of crypto but am not the smartest at that stuff Sad
I want to see it go forward and not actually die off.

It just seems you all agreed to go along with IPO's because well there wasn't a better and as fast method of
pumping out endless coins to make money from.

It defeats the entire point LOL

The point of an altcoin is to one up Bitcoin and improve it.
Not establish a money making pyramid scheme from it that is distributed in an even worse way than BTC was !

Altcoins are suppose to be better than bitcoin.. NOT worse !

Many of you lost the point of it all.

And what i want to see is dev's find an improved method of distribution over BTC's
But instead they stopped working on that key aspect of ALT's and focused entirely
on misc other gimmicks or un-needed features like Anon features, Markets etc

I have heard all the retorts on this issue such as Mining can be exploited for example..
Well, IPO launched coins are even more vulnerable to Exploitation so that doesn't improve anything does it ?
It's a step in reverse code wise !

I hate to agree with Spoetnik but once in a while he manages to write a decent post and this is one of them.

There have been so many IPO scams. I thought they were dying off then came Ethereum. Well... after bringing in 18 mil and a dramatic rise in price we are seeing a resurgence in the IPO/ICO/ITO scam. Developers are quickly bringing out "the next big thing" in hopes of a Ethereum repeat.

When they are telling you litecoin is dead - its time to buy.  Wink

I think you missed the point. The users here want to get rich quick on technology they can't possibly understand nor discern. That is what they want.

Everyone who missed the bitcoin train hopes for another chance on something else.  No one really cares about the tech except for its hype value.

Throw some smart contracts, decentralized apps, crypto assets, decentralized assets exchange, industrial strength code, delegated proof of stake consensus, etc. into the mix and you have yourself a surefire pump-mobile.

It doesn't matter if you can't buy anything with it.

they raised $18 million and spent it.
Quote
they ran out of funds and started pumping the stock price in order to raise more funds

Forget all the other drama going on. Let's face it - 18 mil was one hellava lot of money to burn through for what was produced.  Price manipulation since is a given.  Eth may turn out to be the best thing since sliced bread but it started out tainted.
