2k soon? more like 200 like it was a couple days ago.

Let's be real for a minute and take stock on where we are at.

There's still no concrete information on how close to completion the anon tech is. Zero. I understand the dev was sick after fixing the double spend attack, but that was AFTER it was supposed to be completed already and we haven't been told how far through he is or when we can expect it to be released.

If you actually look at what was committed to the GIT repository for the wallet to fix the double spend attack, you can see that the updates which he worked tirelessly 24 hours a day for 3 days straight which sent him to hospital was only 68 lines of code...

Most of this was just copying and pasting some additional block checks, changing a couple ports and fixing up some if/else statements. If this is what sent the Dev to hospital, he'll be in the ground long before this project gets finished. That should be like.. an hour or two's worth of work... max.

There's still no news on why Cryptsy hasn't opened the market.

There's still no timeline.

There's still no website.

The last time anyone from the foundation mentioned a timeframe was after the double spend attack and they laughed when someone asked if the beta test would be up within 3 weeks... which was 3 weeks ago now.. So who's laughing? Them, at us.

This coin is heading through the floor, not to the moon.

Cash out while you can.

You sound like a real expert. Why not go and dev your own coin? it's sure to be perfect and nobody will be able to dis ya.
Bye

VeriCoin soon to be accepted where Visa/Master card is accepted?? Holy sh#%

Game, set, match if this is true.

http://youtu.be/lJ9yLREpCgM?t=55m10s

Keep in mind that this is a Moolah service, not a VeriCoin service. It will likely work with every coin that Moolah supports. With the recent acquisition of MintPal, that's ~70 coins, including Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, and even Methcoin. Moolah even announced back in Feb that the DigiPay browser extension was intended to work with btc, ltc, and doge, among others.

Let's try to stay grounded in reality; this is an exciting development for all of Crypto, not just VeriCoin.

Hey!! Get your logic out of our forum, we have no room for people like you.

Vericoin to da mooooooooooooooooooooooon!

Agree with you. You and the team are doing great work. Maybe some people wanting dates only want them so as to predict best sell point.

As for the possible moolah card, every step which makes access to FIAT purchases easier is a step nearer widespread adoption and I think is a good thing. I hope the proposed card from Moolah/VRC will not be restricted to use online. I hope VRC will go the whole way and come up with a debit card which can be used to draw cash in local currency at any ATM that accepts Visa/ Mastercard / Union Card etc.
Hong Kong exchange ANX already offer a debit card which can be topped up using Bitcoin and can be used at any ATM or POS that accepts Visa.
It can be done. Imagine the impact a VRC debit card would have. Veribank debit card?  Future now.
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: August 01, 2014, 04:17:06 AM
I know this will mean a centralised service integrated with legacy systems but if the proposed card CAN actually be used in any place Visa or Mastercard can be used, the team have definitely cracked it.
I fully believe in getting as much as possible decentralised but for the moment, I believe we must work alongside existing FIAT services. This would be a fantastic way to get new people into VRC and find how easy it is to use. I presume I will not need to have a bank account to get one of the cards. Think about that.
Most of the world is not American or first world. For now, most of the world uses local FIAT currency and crypto is of about as much use to them as a rubber crutch in a swamp. Sure, it's easy to sms or e-mail it to them but then what do they do with it?
I have an ANX (Hong Kong ) Visa debit card that I can top-up with BTC and it means I can work abroad and send funds to family without the need for them to have access to internet, smartphone, a currency exchange, a bank account or a local agent. There are fees but it gets things down to a simple set of steps. I buy crypto. I deposit. I use crypto to load the card in USD. The end user draws local currency from any atm that accepts Visa. Simples.
I wouldn't mind paying for the proposed VRC card to get one but I hope the card will not have a "loading" or top-up charge or annual fee.
I hope charges for use (ATM withdraw, POS purchases ) will be reasonable. The ANX card charges are too high.
One of the things I love about VRC team is the way they think outside the envelope and try to get VRC to the point at which anyone can use it anywhere.
Good luck with the card idea. If anyone asks why I do not simply use a bank Visa card it's because this way I can get VRC in front of people and without needing a bank account. Utility is the key to getting widespread use.
I think great work guys. You can put me down for several VRC cards as soon as they are available.  Grin

Heard about HIVE multitoken wallet today. Are devs already considering getting VRC included on HIVE wallet? Looks like multi wallets are going to be the future and it would be a good way to get the VRc name out there. Just a thought.

Many detractors are missing the point. VRC has value-added services that allow a single entry point for people to be able to perform functions that they would otherwise have to trawl through the industry to find who does what and how much it costs.

If you have a person new to crypto who downloads a wallet that allows them to use online services that accept BTC, allows them to send an SMS payment to someone who doesn't have a wallet and numerous other functions, you cut out the need for that laborious and steep learning process we all had to go through.

A long term goal will always be for these value-added services to be able to migrate to open-source decentralised platforms but, at this time, we'd be deliberately handicapping wider adoption if we insisted that everybody faced having to attain the same degree of knowledge about what is going on behind the scenes, technically, socially and commercially, as we did.

I support this coin because it clearly aims to reach as many users as possible around the world including the unbanked and those unable to access secure internet. It's making amazing progress. It is well distributed and fair.
What good is a crypto if you can't spend it? With VRC there are already many ways to go but nothing comes out of the box fully evolved.

Until perfection and worldwide coverage is achieved  Smiley, there may be a need to integrate with legacy services.
FIAT is not going away any day soon.

VRC is a business not a religion. It's not heresy worthy of burning at the stake to offer a centralised, optional add-on.

The only way for a coin to succeed and last is for it to be known and useable. People want to buy things not play with wallets. I understand the wish to establish a network of dedicated ATMs and so on and that may well happen some day but, in the meantime, how do we get widespread everyday use of VRC? How do we get the name out there and have it known for it's ease of use and benefits?
The VRC devs always try, it seems to me, to work on as many fronts as possible and still manage to avoid diluting quality. They offer choices.

It is now possible to have a Bitcoin Debit card and draw cash at ATMs all over the world. Yes, it"s centralised and there are fees but it's the fastest way I can imagine to make people aware of crypto as a real alternative for storage and spending. When people come to understand the benefits they will switch. Only a matter of time.

A bit like VeriBit, BTC has been clever enough to make use of existing possibilities to broaden use. I think it would be, at the very least, an excellent way to get people using VRC if VRC could be added to such a card. I made an earlier post suggesting this be considered. I offer it only as an idea.
I have been into BTC since Aug 2013 and I've held many alt coins. I have applied for two different BTC debit cards and will learn more about their use in practice. Having one card that does not require a bank account, can be loaded with BTC and used at standard ATMs all over the world strikes me as very interesting. At least, until crypto ATMs become as ubiquitous, which I'm sure they will one day. Smiley

http://debitcard.anxintl.com/ if anyone wants to take a look. I'm gently nudging the idea not selling it. I have no financial interest in it.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: July 11, 2014, 09:14:23 AM
Is there any chance of getting something like ANX (Hong Kong ) International VRC debit card? or getting on to the ANX card?

http://debitcard.anxintl.com/ Doesn't seem to be Visa or Mastercard. Probably the Chinese equivalent which is set to grow big.

Load with BTC VRC and some FIAT. Use at ATM's worldwide.

Just asking because BTC will do it and that makes for ultimate utility even if centralised. I think this kind of thing will do more to grow mainstream use than anything else. VRC seems perfectly placed to take advantage of it. (Indirectly via VeriBit but better still as a named coin.

Just an idea. Feel free to reject.  Smiley

@Aragoon
Drawing cash in local currency would be only possible at participating merchants.
I think the One wallet will have a site where you can login, not sure if one is able to top up from there as different things are still being worked on in the background by Diamond Circle,so we wait on what they decide.
The idea of one wallet,ATMs,Diamond Circle cards and getting more merchants to participate is to get away from the usual Visa/MasterCard system and build a new CryptoCurrency infrastructure,so the card can't be used on normal ATMs,only the DC ATMs and Merchant POS.It functions like a prepaid card.

Thanks for taking the time to post the information. Appreciated.

I can see the world is about to change big time.  Grin

If I understand it correctly, the One Wallet card can hold FIAT, XC and BTC.
Using the cashless ATM, I can exchange between any one of these on the One Wallet card.
I can use the card to purchase goods or get cash in any participating merchant.
I can use my credit card to top-up the One Wallet.

Can I exchange, top-up from a device or web page without using the cashless ATM?

For the purpose of drawing cash in local currency, am I, in fact, restricted to using only participating merchants?

Is there any plan to have a One Wallet with Visa/Mastercard so as to use ATM's worldwide?

Can I send XC or BTC to the one wallet? Does it have an "address" ?

I'm very keen to get answers to these questions but perfectly happy to wait until the guys awake from well earned sleep.  Wink

So much good stuff about this coin it's hard to keep up. Sorry so many questions.

I'm looking forward to the first ALTCOIN ATM in the world --- Duo Coin ATM : XC & BTC
Maybe people could buy some BTC in the ATM then exchange to XC in the ATM as well or directly buy XC. Then, they could use anon trans to send coins to the receiver.
They don't even need to download a wallet in their devices.

The One Wallet is even better than that. You can load FIAT and BTC and XC and exchange between them. You can cash out at a participating merchant. You can top up using Visacard. Amazing advance.  Smiley

I'd just like to comment on a couple things here that I think anyone investing in VRC should keep in mind.

1.) The devs are still the same folks that started this up. They can't feasibly release something new every day. Over and over again people said it's best to under promise and over deliver. Just because we don't have something new to hype up doesn't mean they aren't still working hard. I for one still have 100% faith in them, especially during the 'slower' times.

2.) Remember Bitcoin spend a couple years with a virtually negligible value. While VRC spiked recently, that kind of growth rate has to correct and fluctuate. Price is down now compared to a few days ago, but still on the up since it came to the major exchanges, and by a lot. Patience folks.

3.) Always remember that the crypto community by and large has the attention span of an ADHD goldfish on methamphetamine. Just because volume decreases and people aren't all over every social media hyping or FUD'ing VRC doesn't mean it's dead, dying, abandoned, failing, or anything. It just means the goldfish found something else sparkly to divert it's attention to for the next 7 seconds.

I'm still HODLing, and have no intention of dumping/selling. I still have complete faith in the devs and the other members of the VRC community to continue taking the steps and initiative to bring this coin to it's full potential, a potential that I think is well above it's current price, but I know it's not going to get there overnight without ups and downs.

Anyway, that's my two cents for what it's worth.

Well said.  Grin

Promoting some other coin

Perhaps in this thread we can find a balance between what would be considered promotion of another coin and what would be considered reference of another coin for the sake of enhancing XC.

And considering my holdings are about 85% XC, I plan to only try and enhance XC.

I'm sorry if I had The wrong impression but we get this (pr other coin) a lot here.. That is why I'm walking on my toes.. We should definitly learn from others if The have something better then we do.. If they do

We could miss out if too touchy about references to work being done by other devs. Some of it is actually very good. I hold VRC and XC. Both are excellent in different ways.
There is a need to find the most decentralised way to enable transfer of value. The bottleneck is always at the point of getting Crypto exchanged to local currency. This is usually where the sharks gather looking for fees.
Millions of people working abroad want to send money home to family but get ripped by currently available services. Many families do not have access to currency exchanges and don't know anything about BTC or Crypto. They just want something that works out of the box. ATMs appear to be the cleanest centralised solution. At the end of the day there must be a range of solutions.
It seems a very cool idea to have decentralised exchange FIAT to Crypto to FIAT in a privacy wallet and a facility to load the wallet direct from Credit card. That gets value into the system. Getting it out again is the problem. This whole area will explode with new ideas soon. I have not yet seen any decentralised solution to exchanging Crypto for local currency. To my mind, this is the final frontier. This is utility, mainstream. Most of these people do not live in America or Europe. Millions and millions of them.

I'm in Malaysia, and am promoting crypto to migrant workers, predominantly Bangladeshi's who work at my local petrol stations, as an alternative remittance.
since telling them about Vericoin veri-sms some have shown more interest over btc as most do not have internet access readily where they dorm or work, and their spouses at home are generally not computer literate or dont have a pc of their own, but all own smart phones and do make video calls, so these guys do use the internet when available. (info from the guys i know.. not in any way a generalisation)

apart from western union, there are "money changer" syndicates that offer services to workers at competitive rates, and i have even heard that some have used phone credit as a means to transfer funds, only hear say but sounds interesting, humans get very resourceful when there are leaches and parasites at every corner.

i have yet to find a willing adopter/partcipant, due to the lack of crypto 2 fiat conversion at the Bangladesh end.. if any bangladeshi / indon / myanmar folks are on vericoin thread.. theres a whole bunch of ppl being raped of their hard earned cash by the likes of western union, i urge you guys to promote vericoin and push for conversion services at your end

Yes. In Indonesia you can use a phone operator card to top up with credit and then use for shopping and cash back.( XL network ). Crypto could do it much better if we could find an accessible and easy way to cash into local currency. Not many people know about BTC never mind alt coins. But VRC can offer a way to transfer value and, if it could then be cashed into local currency the word would spread like wildfire in no time. First mover will win the day. Yes, it's using VRC as a means to an end and it goes back into Fiat but what a difference it could make for millions.

In-wallet decentralised exchange from FIAT to Crypto, systems to send value by SMS, privacy options are already on the table. Sending is easy thanks to VERisend

The bottleneck is getting the token (VRC ) into local currency and, in so far as is humanly possible, keeping the middleman centralised services out of the process. Prypto cards offer one way to go but I still think direct use of ATMs would be better. I personally would avoid the PayPal route.
For rural areas, if folk understand the benefits of it, local centres could be set up with an ATM and Internet connection in a nearby town. It might be combined with micro funding projects run by women to encourage small business development and reach a global source for crowdfunding. The possibilities it opens up are limitless.
I'm sorry I am not a tech so I have no idea about the likely complexities in setting up such a system but I believe it will be worth the effort. meantime, I'll just keep telling people about VRC and how good it is.
