Chrome should be called PRISM Personal Edition.
162  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Whats the differennce between a patriot and a terrorist? on: June 09, 2013, 09:47:00 PM
Patriotism is a primal instinct that is essential for tribe's organization and survival in a harsh environment and in competition against rival tribes. Tribes are no more, but evolution didn't keep up. Now individuals project those feelings onto their nation/state/race/religion. However, that system can not be logically complete, because patriots of two different nations can never agree whose nation is superior.

==== TINFOIL HAT ON
Just remember everything you wrote here is permanently stored in NSA database, cross referenced to you Facebook account, all your google searches and all your phone movements. A blue diode just came ON in the middle of a Uta data center, as certain keyword combinations have been matched.
Drone is taking off right now from a secret airbase, and your GPS location is being transferred to its warhead.
==== TINFOIL HAT STILL ON
164  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin source code is a giant mess on: June 09, 2013, 07:09:15 PM
Interesting that people still use COBOL, FORTRAN and C++. Rather than try to fix that C++ code, would be easier to switch completely to some modern language, and have a small library of functions coded in C/ASM where efficiency is critical.

And to Mr. Exoskeleton, let's decide that my tax money goes to compensate for the poster's deficiency, and your tax money goes to support a Guantanamo prisoner at $3000/day, now you feel better?
168  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin as a savings account on: May 27, 2013, 10:57:51 PM
I mention paying fair taxes is a part of that system. The taxes pay the doctor. Obviously, nothing is 100% free in absolute terms. I meant little to no out of pocket expenses on each visit. Obviously a doctor has to be paid. Obviously.

In the US, most of what you pay for health care is not going to doctors. Most of that money goes to insurance against greedy lawyers, to paying off loans for ridiculously overpriced education, to administration needed to comply with endless regulations and perverted insurance system.

Only in the US, honest people that worked hard and paid taxes all their life, end up without any help from society in case hard luck strikes them. That same society that so hypocritically trumpets "christian" and "community" values.

Don't feel guilty if you need to trick the system a little bit at this point. Don't use bitcoin for savings, it could easily lose value, why do you need another thing to worry about. Just put your cash into safe deposit box, nobody will inspect it. If you think that hiding money in bitcoins is more "legal" or more "moral" than hiding it in deposit box, that's not the case. At some point you will have to convert btc to cash, so you going to 'break the law" anyway.
169  Other / Off-topic / Re: Interplanetary trade on: May 26, 2013, 05:36:35 PM
Probably a hardware (Caucasius) coin can be sent to the remote location to seed the local bitcoin network.
170  Other / Off-topic / Interplanetary trade on: May 26, 2013, 07:41:13 AM
My friends at the Trade Federation expressed a concern.

Assuming Bitcoin network is Earth-based, confirmation of a transaction conducted at a nearest star (Proxima Centauri) will take 8.44 years, whereas gold or US Dollar can be exchanged instantly at any location. How can we overcome that limitation?

172  Economy / Services / Re: Medical Consult for Bitcoins on: May 07, 2013, 06:49:52 AM
What about anonymous telemedicine, using tor+bitcoin. Good for doctors - no fear of lawsuits. Reputation can be gained in ripple-style. Good for patient - privacy, lower cost, no insurance records. Many illnesses can be diagnosed using just chat and a webcam. People can do many basic tests themselves. Throw in a medical equipment rental shop.

177  Economy / Economics / Re: IRS to come after people for selling Bitcoins on: April 11, 2013, 01:55:00 AM
How can I prove I held bitcoins more than 1 year, for long-term capital gains?
Should I declare them now so to set purchase base date?
178  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitstamp arbitrages on: April 10, 2013, 06:18:37 AM

1. Go here or here https://www.bitinstant.com/ https://www.aurumxchange.com/
2. Choose Mtgox -> Bitstamp
3. Enter usd amount
4. Enter destination account
5. Proceed, make needed mtgox code
6. Enter it to bitinstant/auruxchange
7. Get your USD into bitstamp
8. Buy cheap coins
6. Send them directly to your mtgox deposit address
10. Sell at gox

This process called arbitrage. Oftenly processed by bots.

11. Pay MtGox commission
12. Pay Bitstamp commission
13. Pay bitinstant/auruxchange commission
14. Wait several days for USD to transfer
15. That 0.01BTC sitting at 227 ask looks good, but prepare to pay 3% more to buy any sizable amount
179  Economy / Speculation / Re: So when is it going to blow? on: April 10, 2013, 06:03:21 AM
If we assumed 50% of those 3600 were to be sold off, right now selling 1800 at the highest bids would bring the value to around $225/BTC. To keep

Where did you get that number 50%? I suggest 2.71828 %, a very nice number, you are free to use it in your calculations.
180  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another possible reason for the price run-up that we haven't thought of? on: April 08, 2013, 04:19:04 AM
Remember it hit $0.001 when mtgox was hacked? It could hit $1,000,000 for 0.000001 bitcoin as well, when we run out of asks. It's just technical temporary liquidity squeeze. Hope no one is putting his life savings on it, it will end in tears.
