161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.1 on: June 24, 2016, 07:51:04 PM
Dear Genoil,
Will you  build new version still on geth or on Parity ?

Geth and Parity are the same thing, and Ethereum client with RPC support.

Genoil's miner version should support both with getWork (-F), so, I suppose it's not really up to Genoil.

What is the fix for nvidia 1080 on windows 7 64bit? I am getting .75MH/s, lol.

The fix is don't use Windoze.
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.1 on: June 24, 2016, 05:28:45 PM
Is there a specification for Eth Stratum v2? Currently my SGMiner port only works with getwork, and it does NOT work well at low diff.

Try DonkeyPool - min diff is 1.5 Bill and fluctuates so all miners share submit average is equal to the average ETH blocktime.
That's what stratum is suppose to do, right?

There are now (3) stratum options (thanks to NiceHash).
They each have differing opinions on how to deliver getWork from the wallet without polling a websocket.

DonkeyPool supports the Coinotron spec, which makes the most sense.
Why use a proxy? all miners now support some type of stratum.

DonkeyPool still has getWork support, but only until June 30.
Then it's all stratum(ish) support.

DonkeyPool getwork string would be address: / workername / hashrate integer value

eg

No, Stratum is a lot better, which is why I'd rather SGMiner use it than getwork. But fucking NiceHash had to reinvent the wheel (again) - are there actual specs for any of these stratum versions? Specifically 2 and 3?

Stratum is marginally better - for pools.
It's easier to administrate - but keeping a socket open has essentially the same footprint as 2 requests to nginx per second, per miner.
There is no spec, only code.
NiceHash's document is outdated and I haven't found it to be accurate.
Maybe they just haven't updated.

Not just better for pools - you can find two shares in a row, and submit both with Stratum. With shitty Eth getwork, it forces new work every submit.

Not true with DonkeyPool.
Nnginx sits between the wallet and proxies eth_submitWork.

The getWork params only change when there's a blockchange, as it should be.

True with others, at least.
Yup, other's who aren't paying attention.
ANY share can solve a block - it's stupid not to allow this and just look for duplicate nonces and verify the share diffs.
sammy007 is convinced this is a bad idea and his pool doesn't (and never will) support vardiff.
He also won't share why he's so paranoid on the subject.

I've examined the code in geth and I just don't see a problem with a difficulty "proxy".
It's not REALLY vardiff, just a mech to balance share submission.

So any word on when Q1 2016 and Q2 2016 dividend payments will be made?

Yes on the 25th of July

http://amber-trade.com/2016/06/06/dividends-payouts/

looks like they're waiting for the rise of bitcoin price, so they can only pay a little amount of bitcoin.
what a sly company.

price is now dropping hard back Wink

We may see it go back to 500 dollar. But with some bad luck it will come even under 450 dollar.
Back to amber how certain is that payout will happen?

@Amberdev
You mentioned that no shares would by sold by the company and the company would use it's profit to buy shares from exchanges.
It's good to see half of what you said is true. What about the other half? When will the company start buying shared on the exchanges?

I think all previous promises made by the dev are gone , The new Owners are going to come with a new set of goals / rules and we just have to bend over and take it.

Yeah, this can't be a surprise.
If you add it up, they (AmberTrade) walked with a fair amount of $$$ from "investors" and now won't honor their agreement to make them whole.
Also, the title of this forum thread is A LIE.

They did indeed pay dividends for the first year, but, the Ponzi scheme ran it's course and now they're keeping your money.

I'm glad I got out when I did.

I also feel like a fool supporting this company/coin - I even built a mining pool for this ShitCoin.

If you stay with this shit-show, you do so knowing this:

1) Anything the admin says is subject to change, he is not the decision maker.
2) There has been a large profit made by AmberTrade from the sale of this coin, and this information is private. The company releases no financial reports.
3) Dividends have not been paid in BTC since Q3 of 2015. Q4 2015 dividends were paid in AMBER (Ponzi anyone?)
4) Eventually, they will be booted from this forum because what's happening here is dishonest, plain and simple

I not longer hold any AMBER shares, but, I want to make sure potential new investors know what's really happening here.

Code:
ethminer -G -ES -SV 2 -S daggerhashimoto.usa.nicehash.com:3353 -O 1HtkaiWKeKZ6MJgag6a3fUQo3BxcT2gAKv.amdo:x

Try removing -SV 2 ... @Genoil: it really seems best to remove -ES and introduce -SV 3 to avoid some confusions.

Nope - core dump

Using Ubuntu 15.10
Code:
ethminer -G -ES -S daggerhashimoto.usa.nicehash.com:3353 -O 1HtkaiWKeKZ6MJgag6a3fUQo3BxcT2gAKv.amdo:x

The miner works fine using getWork - just no pools seem to be working using stratum and Ubuntu 15.10
I've tried (2) different machines and the only (2) pools that are supposed to work with stratum coinotron and nicehash.

They both subscribe and auth fine - then segfault.....
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.1 on: June 17, 2016, 10:41:50 PM
Thanks, I didn't encounter that during my own tests.

I'm getting a segfault when trying to use the new NiceHash stratum feature.

Code:
ethminer -G -ES -SV 2 -S daggerhashimoto.usa.nicehash.com:3353 -O 1HtkaiWKeKZ6MJgag6a3fUQo3BxcT2gAKv.amdo:x

Genoil's ethminer 0.9.41-genoil-1.1.5

Yeah Claymore, if you indeed wrote in a backdoor - I'm sure you'd tell us, RIGHT?
WTF - There is  %0 chance of risk abatement by asking the developer anything about this.

You are 100% correct.

I understand your work here has value, but, it's based on software that others have built.
At some point, you really should consider releasing the code.

You are wrong. I don't use any GPL code and I don't have to release sources. There are a few ETH miners, you can easily detect if a miner is based on original ethminer.

Or, address the problems of virus "confusion" like a typical software vendor.

Did you ever try that? I did. The only real option is to contact AV vendor and tell them about false alarm. And usually false alarms are from weak AV with no real support, they just ignore your messages.
It's impossible task. Especially for mining software that can be used in botnets with almost no changes.

This is why I refuse to use your miner, and don't promote it.

No problem. Some people use only free and open-source software like Linux. Some people pay for closed-source software like Windows. You always have a choice.

Thanks for the reply Claymore - good to know your opinions on this topic.

What`s about INVESTMENT PROTECTION PROGRAM? Still valid?

It was valid until March 2016.
This program was supposed to be a protection for early investors during the first year of company existence.
During this first year it was used less than 5 times by company's shareholders.
So this program has completed its mission.

I know that now the new Dividends Policy is being developed by the company.
Most likely it will be published right after Q1/Q2 dividends payouts in the end of July.

There should be all information.

@AmberDev
Are you saying that people who bought shares @ 31000 satoshi can no longer get that price from AmberTrade?

@AmberDev
Is this true? Those who bought AMBER directly from AmberTrade can no longer get full value from their AMBER?

1.1.3

i m a bit confuse  what s the last version?  is it not the 0.9.41?

0.9.41 was the version of ethminer when I forked it. 1.1.3 is the release number of the fork.

Is the stratum code working in the OpenCL build of 1.1.4?
It builds fine, and runs great using network - but, I'm getting a missing symbol when using a -S (stratum) config with Ubuntu 15.10.

Does it need a link to boost? or is that built-in?

Anyone else running stratum with 1.1.4?
If so, would you please share your config line.

thanks!

Does donkeypool support stratum now?

Late testing phase - DonkeyPool should be stratum-ready by Monday
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | Hybrid Security | 25% PoS on: June 16, 2016, 04:07:06 PM
Well, that all who wished to sell their Diamonds for a pittance, or yet have a wish?  Cool

Today many users throw their coins and go invest in the ETH.
But they are not aware of the hidden threat.
What will happen to Ethereum if someone starts to write viruses and attach them to the ETH blockchain?
I think it can bring dead for ETH and DAO. Bitcoin protocol is protected from this much better.
The maximum that you can attach it only a small piece of code in the form of comments to the transaction, but the size of the comment in advance is limited and the virus code just does not fit in it.

Um, yeah - No.

There are some contract issues, but, no "virus" in the traditional sense.
It's a blockchain, you can move any coins around without the private key.

There is no way to get the private key from a contact.

I'm not talking about the theft of the private ETH key.
As you know in the blockchain ETH you can attach any files.
If their system is filled with viruses that will be introduced through wallet in your computer, it will cause massive panic.
Of course Vitalik and his team will be able to clean the blockchain of these viruses and perhaps even create anti-virus, but who will need such a system?.
Now from this it saves only that very little of developers versed in the kind of programming language which was created ETH
But the case of those who invest in the ETH   Cool

When a Diamond switch to the new protocol (version 3.0) it will be one of the most secure coins for storage your wealth Wink

You can't attach files - that is a myth my friend.
You CAN develop dapps in a very strict limited language that is an "opt-in" style framework.
You actually earn ETH by running these dapps, which is the "killer app" for Ethereum.

At some point, mining will be obsolete and blockchain technology will be used to provide computational services.
The idea really is an awesome next-step in a shared computation environment.

This takes nothing away from DMD, what's good for one crypto is usually good for all.
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum+Decred GPU Miner v4.5 (Windows/Linux) on: June 16, 2016, 03:54:06 PM

Even v1.0 was recognized as a virus by some antiviruses, check first page of this thread. I have no idea how these AVs work and why they find different viruses in different versions.
Check this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1433925.msg15070453#msg15070453

No it's not part of the stratum spec.

Note that there are currently two stratum clients; async and sync (V2). The latter is much more straightforward and works just as good.

Will you add it if I code it?

Pools need to support it.
Of course, Donkeypool.com will support it:)

Is the stratum mining logic seperated from the getwork one?

No, only the protocol - see https://github.com/Genoil/cpp-ethereum/blob/master/libstratum/EthStratumClient.cpp

The nonce generation appears to be modular.

@Genoil - is the hashrate ever submitted when connecting via stratum?
If not, can it be added to happen right after mining.submit? - seems like a logical place to me.
