Nice GUI wallet.  Good job.  Things are starting to happen Smiley !!

I haven't had a chance to check out the lightweight wallet, but it sounds like another great recent development, to put alongside MoneroClub, and Mymonero.

It certainly feels like Monero is building momentum.  Smiley

MoneroClub is a great idea and should be an important part of the growing Monero infrastructure going forward. Thus far, I have obtained over 90% of my XMR by buying BTC from localbitcoins, transferring to Poloniex and trading for XMR. If I need some fiat for a big purchase in the future (e.g. house/business), cutting one step out in the reverse process would be excellent.  Smiley

...
I'm not usually interested in altcoins myself, but I can see how people can enjoy them. Most altcoin "investing" is a lot like gambling. I can see how trying to navigate and manipulate these tiny markets could be fun for a lot of people. These pump-and-dump altcoins aren't really competitors to Bitcoin: they're really a way of using your bitcoins to gamble. There are also a handful of technologically interesting altcoins like Monero, which I think are very useful for testing new ideas that might one day be incorporated into Bitcoin.

Even theymos finds Monero interesting Tongue

Nice. Just wait until we can start marketing this next year.  Grin

Poloniex went dead for me a few minutes ago. There is nothing on their twitter feed. Anyone know anything?

Very nice missive. I have a couple of questions about the new version.

1) Should transaction fees for withdrawing from Polo be reduced soon (currently 0.1 XMR)?
2) Are there likely to be any problems with any of the unofficial GUI's? As far as I know they haven't been updated in the last 4 months.

168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: December 08, 2014, 01:30:53 PM
Thank your your grace. My first design for the church is to be a ladies school to sit in E3, E4, E9, E10, east of jackets apartments and north of iluvbitcoin's tavern and Dame Roopatra's house.

Here is my rough floorplan. The red line is the boundary of the quadrats here, and I show the surrounding 1m on all sides. There is a 2m wide paved road on the city map that runs north-south to the west of the building, and that takes one column from the plot. To the south are Iluvbitcoin's tavern and Roopatra's house. The wall might be shared if they both agree, but it won't save a huge amount of money/stone. The last column plotted is the currently unused land owned by the Marquess of Oz.

It will be a low arch design with the same plan on each floor, but external doors only on the ground floor.

There are to be four floors, with 40% luxury.

There is a hallway/stairwell in each wing and four classrooms per floor in the west wing. The smaller room in the east wing will be a kitchen on one floor, and offices on the other three. The large room will be a dining hall on the same floor as the kitchen, an assembly hall, a gymnasium and perhaps a music/dance hall.

Any comments or suggestions appreciated before I finish and cost it up.

Well said Bassica. I only discovered Monero in early June, after looking at BTC and DRK. I have been consistently buying XMR since, and increased my holdings in June, July, September, October, November and December (small sale in August, bought back quickly in September). 2015 will be XMR's big year IMHO.

CoolGecko - you understand the concept of open source right?

Open source software development and fraudulent activity are separate issues here.

173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Monero officially dead? on: December 01, 2014, 05:19:09 PM
It's not dead I guess. Monero has been overvalued for a long time. As it has negligible real world economy, it's value is determined almost solely by speculators and enthusiasts. Quite natural to see it's value falling.

Correction: the price may have fallen but the value has not.

I am honored to be able to build my the Casino CryptoNight in the prestigious city center of the great Crypto Kingdom.

Thank you everyone for supporting my work, thank you everyone for taking the time to vote and participate in this event, thank you to all the competitors that made this event exciting, and of course thank you to the generous HM King, Dame Roopatra and other admins that invested their time and effort to carry out this event.  I would not be able to see my idea come to fruition without everybody's involvement.

With the great community and benevolent leaders, Crypto Kingdom will last through the ages Cheesy

Congratulations. I look forward to rolling a few dice in the gaming rooms. :-)

Paulson, Esq. Votes:

1 Casino
2 Marketplace
3 Theater

He asked Mss. Irma but she is still upset for not having her festive clothes in time for the last celebration. The fiancee agreement seems weaker by the day...   Cool

Irma will be delighted to hear that new festive clothes are available to order again for the Jubilee. Surprise her.

BCX comes here in curious mood because he got several PMs (and not because he had an agreement to find exploits DRK)

BCX says he has a deal with XMR.

XMR devs says no.

BCX says he has a deal with Risto.

Risto says no.

BCX's credibility seems rather low right now...

I just hope he doesn't manage to create as much of a FUDstorm here as he did around XMR. Peace.

Should adapt it as the general chit-chat talking thread. How did you liked the unified color scheme of the new wallet design?

Which wallet? The web one?

Does anyone else think the Supernet logo looks disturbingly like the Monero one in terms of colors and style?

I was wondering which wallet as well.

Both Monero and Supernet logos look extremely similar to some other logo as well as being very similar in both scheme and structure .. I can't remember what it was, but remember some company's logo being posted at around the time we got this one.

OK, probably coincidence. I'm not really up on branding in general.

Crossposting for info:

BCX' thread is fun to read from time to time, with some popcorn.

Can anyone remember him substantiating anything he has said about Monero. Sound and fury, signifying nothing?

Why is DRK a scam and why do the Monero crew want to take it down?
~BCX~

It's not a scam and it's Monero's closest competitor functionality wise.

I'll never understand why people like to bring/take down other currencies. There's enough space for all of them.

My current deal with Monero ends on December 20th as we came to an agreement for 60 days of BCX free Monero.

Where we go from there, who knows?

They have however offered a proposition for DRK but I wanted to find out about it first.

I think they feel that DRK is why they are steadily falling week over week.

If a coin is good I have no interest in bothering it but if it is a scam, shit is on.

Let's hear the good, bad and ugly!

~BCX~

Oh really? Can you show us any evidence of that BCX? Any contacts in the Monero community I can contact to confirm these claims: 20th Dec agreement, DRK-related proposition?
