161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed bitcoin transaction ?? on: May 12, 2022, 10:22:22 AM
Ok ok, I really feel like a newbie now  Grin thanks for all your replies.

If so, is it normal that my transaction is unconfirmed (it was 1 hour and 40 minutes ago) and do I just have to wait ?

There are currently around 50K unconfirmed transactions in the mempool. If you are in a hurry you can maybe increase the fee (as long as you enabled the RBF for the transaction) but if you are not in a hurry you can simply wait, it will eventually get confirmed but nobody knows exactly when.
162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed bitcoin transaction ?? on: May 12, 2022, 10:12:26 AM
Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I wanted to send 0.7.
I don't really understand why would it be some change returning ? But maybe you're right, I don't know how to check if this address is mine (in Trezor it seems like I only have one).
Do you know how I can do to complete or cancel this transaction ?

You had a total of 0.99359277 on the Trezor? Yes, most likely the 0.29 is the change and you don't know how to see it.

As to why, it's like if you give a $100 bill to pay $90 and you get a $10 bill back, what happens is that with BTC it doesn't just go with round numbers, you can get the idea that you've paid with a 0.99359277 BTC bill although the change goes to a different address for privacy reasons, as in some transactions it is difficult to know what the change is and you may want to hide it.
163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you know why Bitcoin price is dropping down ? Don't Ask Satoshi ? Just buy ! on: May 12, 2022, 08:42:28 AM
that is for sure and everyone will not argue about this even though satoshi i.e. the price of bitcoin goes down because many are selling it. hahaha (joking but true)

(now serious) what is happening to bitcoin right now is the phase before it soars higher. like receding sea water before the arrival of a tsunami wave. or like pulling a bow backwards so that it shoots faster.

now is not the time to sell but the time to start buying installments.

I am confused about people who are afraid to buy when the price drops. and instead they queue to buy when the bitcoin price is above.

but of course everyone has their own reasons. like scalpers who of course will cut losses when they lose 10% in contrast to long-term holders who repay when the price drops.

I agree with you pal. Now is not a good time to sell, it is a good time to buy. Whenever we talk about BTC and other premium stuff outside of the cryptocurrency market, but I wouldn't buy an altcoin, as most of them are going to eventually disappear and shocks like this are going to help that.
164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UST Stable coin depegs from dollar USD may Crash BTC,cause crypto death spiral on: May 12, 2022, 06:11:22 AM
Do you guys think Luna could come out of this?

At the moment, it is priced at $0.3045USD on CoinMarketCap. Thats a 97% drop in the last 24hrs.

No, I don't think so. It looks like yet another cryptocurrency that is going to disappear. To get the price back up to where it was, it is going to take huge amounts of money and I don't think any serious investor is going to consider it, as although there might be a small spike, it would be like trying to catch a falling knife:

'A falling knife is generally used as a caution not to jump into a stock or other asset during a drop. Traders will trade on a sharp drop, but they generally want to be in a short position and will use technical indicators to time their trades.'

165  Economy / Economics / Re: Looks like markets are crashing ! this is it ...it's the big one ! on: May 11, 2022, 06:19:37 AM
Now is a good time to buy. Markets may go down further, but it is in times of panic that you can buy cheap and make money. I am sure a lot of retail investors bought at or near the highs and have sold now, as is often the case.

Those who had to sell houses in 2007 for lack of liquidity or other reasons lost money. Those who were liquid and bought at the time of the crash made money.

In the same way, those who buy now will see good profits in a few years.
166  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bearish market continues? on: May 10, 2022, 06:12:29 AM
Bitcoin is crashing now due to investors panic selling. The structure of confidence and trust we were living since the last bull run started has just collapsed. Known resistance and support levels don't exist anymore.

I believe they do exist. The clearest one would be USD 20,000. It is not going to be easy to pierce that level downwards no matter how bad things get. At 30,000 we seem to have another one, as yesterday's panic selling seems to have stopped for the time being.

You guys are so mean. When I got the email that I won, it was one of the best moments I've had in a long time. I am a 4th year math teacher, I don't have credit cards. I posted my occupation to add to my credibility. My mom just died leaving me with tons of expenses so once I can withdraw this money, my life is going to be so much better. If you didn't feel comfortable then you don't have to do anything. I will wait until my payday to make the required deposit so I can withdraw. Any way, I am super happy today. Happier than I've been in a long time.
Bye bye. Learn to be kind to others instead of being jerks. You don't know what someone is going through.

In any case, I think you mean to say that I was the mean one. The others have merely told you that it is a scam, because it is a scam. If you don't want to see it is your problem.

I doubt your story, but since I think there is a minuscule chance that what you are saying about being a math teacher and not having credit cards is true, I will explain a few things to you:

1) According to the image you put, hurry up to collect the paycheck because the offer has an expiration of 48 hours.
2) An Bitcoin giveaway makes no sense, even less in ethereum.org. If it were a newly created currency still, but not Bitcoin.
3) Repeat after me: if someone gives you money for free, but wants you to pay him first to cash out he is a scammer, he is a scammer, he is a scammer.

168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Someone sent me $2000 woth bitcoin on: May 09, 2022, 06:25:52 AM
It's a scam! Don't pay anything.

Yes, give us more details, but it is a scam. It turns out that someone gives you $2,000 but you have to pay first? You're the second one I've seen in a short time. Good thing you're not asking for a loan.
169  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.01 Bitcoin Loan on: May 08, 2022, 05:45:46 PM
I don't believe the story that it's a math teacher that this is happening to him. If he had said  that he is a literature teacher or something, but of mathematics, come on, and on top of that he has no money or resources to get $350.

Do you have all the credit cards maxed out math teacher?

If I was sure I was going to get $7,000 just by depositing $350 I would get them in a short time if I had no money.

If he had said he was unemployed or worked in a fast food restaurant, it might sound less like bullshit than the math teacher thing.
170  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.01 Bitcoin Loan on: May 08, 2022, 05:03:29 PM
Having to deposit that amount to be able to withdraw sounds like a scam to me. Also, that you are asking for a loan sounds even worse to me.

On top of that you are supposed to be a math teacher? Sorry buddy, but there are just too many things that don't add up in your story.

Problem is, I have to make a deposit of 0.01 in Bitcoin in order to become a BitLocal user.
It's a scam!!! Stay thousands miles away from it.

A NJ math teacher asking for a $350 loan for this sounds good to you?
171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AN INTERESTING WAY TO INTRODUCE BITCOIN LEARNING TO OUR FUTURE GENERATION on: May 08, 2022, 04:57:22 PM
I am a teacher by profession and think of this interesting action plan to teach the concept of Bitcoin to our primary kids (10-11) in their early stages.

Nice one good teacher but first of all, make sure the school that employed you is aware of your plan so you don't lose your job in that process. I will suggest that you teach them the concept of Bitcoin after school hours maybe you set up an extra moral lesson just to teach them Bitcoin.

Yeah. It is not clear to me that the director and the board, or the parents, will welcome the measure. Either he lives in a place with very open-minded and tech-friendly people, like Silicon Valley, or he could run into a problem.
172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think we should do with our investments in times of uncertainty? on: May 06, 2022, 07:08:32 AM
If you are a good investor, you should be prepared for times of uncertainty, and don't act as if they will never happen and catch you by surprise. The latter is more typical of retail investors who invest following the advice of their friend/the banker/the trendy youtuber, etc.

Good investors know that bad times will come, and are prepared for it, managing liquidity well to buy cheap.

173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Trying to spend an unconfirmed input by mistake on: May 05, 2022, 06:32:29 AM
You should check to see the block containing each of your transactions. If they are both included in the same block that means it was a CPFP thing and a miner picked that up for the reward. Otherwise if they are in two different blocks, that means you just wasted money since that's normal confirmation.
Considering that fees are at the minimum most of the times, there is no need to use such methods though.

I didn't waste money because I set a high fee as I wanted a quick confirmation before I realized that the first transaction had not been confirmed and before I knew anything about CPFP transaction.

Although the mempool tends to empty regularly, not everyone wants to wait an indeterminate number of hours for a transaction to be confirmed, and prefers to pay a few extra satoshis, as it was my case. In fact, I just looked at the mempool just now and it is quite full. There will be many people who will pay more to avoid having to wait.
174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Trying to spend an unconfirmed input by mistake on: May 03, 2022, 06:14:16 AM
Hey,

My transaction was confirmed just after I asked here. Well, both transactions. I suppose that having used a higher fee for the so-called child transaction was key. Yes, the mempool is not that bad nowadays but the positive thing I get from this is that I learned something by a coincidence.

Cheers guys!

175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Trying to spend an unconfirmed input by mistake on: May 02, 2022, 05:19:42 PM
Today I received a transaction that I was expecting, and after a couple of hours, not realizing that it had not been confirmed, I sent a transaction from that address that had no confirmed funds yet.

Has this ever happened to you? I searched and saw on reddit that a trick if you want to spend unconfirmed inputs is to set a high fee, so if the miner wants to confirm the transaction with the high fee, he will have to confirm the previous transaction as well.

When I sent the transaction I set a somewhat higher fee than usual for me, because I saw that there were more than 10,000 unconfirmed transactions and I preferred to confirm it quickly.

176  Economy / Speculation / Re: $1 Million Bitcoin On Track To Break This Price Level. on: May 02, 2022, 07:55:14 AM
Isn't this the same guy that recently gave a prediction for bitcoin to go to 30k USD? I wouldn't trust in his speculation too much. After all this mane makes money every time you make a bet, so his goal is to make you bet and the more you bet, the better it is for him and his company.
Personally, I feel like leverage trading is worse than gambling because you're betting so that other people with more money can make or break your bets as they please and Arthur and his likes are making money anyway. You can be winning or losing, they make money, so they will keep making these "predictions" in hope that it will make you feel like you can make money following them.

I don't usually trust people with economic interests when they make these kinds of predictions either, although it doesn't seem so far-fetched to me. Even if we are conservative and apply only a multiplier of 3 times the maximum of prices of the next cycles could occur. From the previous cycle to this one there was a 3.5 multiplier between maximums, and it was the lowest in history. So I think it is quite likely that by 2030 we will have or will have reached a million dollar price.

177  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitrefill's new bill pay service on: May 02, 2022, 03:04:11 AM
So Bitrefill is rolling out their US bill pay.
https://www.bitrefill.com/buy/bill
And since you asked @o_e_l_e_o here is another trigger warning :-)

Seriously, they want a drivers license / ID and live selfie and a bill with an address that matches your ID and a phone number.

Since for other reasons, outside of the selfie they already had that info and I figured I could be the tester for all of you I did it.

the 2% fee seems high to me but it seems to be what is out there for other non crypto bill pay services.
You can't do multiple bills at the same time you enter the info and pay then enter the next and pay.

Did 2 small payments to credit cards. If those work I will move to mortgage and some other stuff.
Could not pay my cable bill, kept giving an invalid account number.

Will update as I do more.

-Dave

Hello

I was surprised to see this as I have used bitrefill and I am not aware of anything similar in Europe. I have searched and it seems to me that it is only available in the United States.

Anyway, I don't quite understand why you are worried about them asking for your driving license to pay your bills. Is it because you have been asked a second time? Did I understand correctly?

I have used bitrefill pretty much anonymously, but if I wanted to pay my house bills, then I guess it's like paying them through the bank, they know who I am.
