161  Economy / Gambling / Re: Hufflepuff Making 2k BTC On PrimeDice Nov 2014. March 2015 Update: He Cheated on: June 04, 2015, 11:30:29 PM
its fAKE. stunna was just rolling with virtual bitcoins or bank roll to attract more customers. its a regular biz strategy. dont be fooled.
I would highly doubt that it would be fake. Stunna had published an address that he withdrew the Bitcoin to.

I would also have enough trust in Stunna to not fake something like this.
162  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.05 btc loan on: June 04, 2015, 11:27:37 PM
caskey(or whoever is with his account) still can give it to a trusted escrow for an auction, and whatever is left after the loan's payment will be given back to him
This could work, although it would probably sell for somewhat of a fire-sale price. Plus you would need to pay the escrow to not only handle escrow but also to sell the account which would likely take up a good amount of the proceeds.

164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Gavin Andresen undercover for the CIA? on: June 02, 2015, 07:50:33 PM
Where would most of you guys be without your government that protects your ass? There are some nice countries in the world that show, how things go when the government is incapable. Life looks so easy, when everything is in balance and you have your fridge filled, but history has shown countless times, that things can change rapidly...
This is very true. It should also be noted that large governments (primarily the US government) plays a large role in keeping the world a (somewhat) safe place so even if there is no/little government where you live, a government is still going to be protecting you.

No Gavin is not a CIA agent. Even if he was Bitcoin is open source and several people have looked at it's source code for any backdoor/spyware/ect. and has found none
165  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.05 btc loan on: June 02, 2015, 07:46:11 PM
I dont think so, caskey hasnt been online for about 3days now, maybe we should have wait for him few more days.

Hmm.... This looks bad.
Caskey has logged in, but no post/ response.
Wow im pretty sure the op would not ruin his account for less the half of what its worth. But if he does that was pretty bad decision and he will be listed as a scammer.
The problem is that if he doesn't have the money then he will have no choice other then to pay.

The unfortunate fact is that the OP does not have any kind of history of successful loans so I don't see any reason why collateral would not be secured from him, especially when it is pretty well known that he has good collateral (bitcointalk accounts)
166  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.05 btc loan on: May 29, 2015, 08:58:20 PM
Plus he clearly is attempting to sell his accounts, so I don't see any reason why he can't effectively sell one or two of his accounts to the lender in exchange for the loan to be considered "satisfied"

Actually, I am not interested in that proposition.
Too much of a hassle to sell the accounts and recover my bitcoins.  Smiley

Well the problem is that if you claim that he defaulted then he will get negative trust and will have more difficulty repaying you. If you don't claim he defaulted then he could potentially simply continue delaying to repay you eventually leaving you with nothing. If you take an account that you can later sell then you would have a greater chance of recovering your money. It isn't the best situation however it is much better then you potentially receiving nothing.
167  Economy / Lending / Re: 0.5 BTC Loan - Collateral on: May 29, 2015, 08:53:56 PM
Lol. Nice try though.

You forgot to say what happens when your trade goes against you. As well as the likely scenario that you are trading on a scam site  Cheesy
168  Economy / Lending / Re: Offering Loans [No Collateral] on: May 29, 2015, 08:50:16 PM
plz answer my pm

I really don't see why you think you are going to get a loan. It is pretty clear that the reason you created your account was to try to get a loan and then abandon your account.

Marco is not exactly the person who is dumb enough to get scammed by the type of scam you are clearly trying to pull. There are probably a few people in the lending section with threads that would though.
169  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is this enough proof? on: May 29, 2015, 08:45:35 PM
No. It only shows that they are probably using a similar sleep/posting schedule. It also shows that they at least claim to have traded with eachother, although the trade was most likely faked IMO.
170  Other / Meta / Re: Tomatocage account banned? on: May 29, 2015, 08:42:41 PM
If this was done by an automated system that was put in place then I guess it effectively protected the original owner of the account. I guess theymos could shed some light on this

I believe so, and it's a similar case where you can't register a new account from a TOR IP. It would be nice to get official confirmation on this though.
I don't know anything about automatic banning of accounts when they access the forum via tor. However I do know that known exit nodes almost always are going to have enough units of evil to require them getting white listed it needing to pay a fee. There might be something in place to stop people resetting passwords with secret questions via tor, especially after the recent hack.

The forum really should Implement some kind of 2FA for a select few highly trusted accounts. This would probably not be as difficult to implement as 2FA for everyone and there are a few accounts that could do a lot of damage if hacked.
171  Economy / Reputation / Re: Do you think BiPolarBob is crazy ?? *share your deals you did with him before* on: May 29, 2015, 08:36:46 PM
I'm sorry to revive an ancient thread, but I see BiPolarBob hasn't been active since 20th February, does anyone know what happened to him?  Undecided
I am fairly certain that he has moved onto other forums. He told me that he has done similar things with other forums and his giveaways were likely abused by a few people claiming multiple times.
172  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.05 btc loan on: May 28, 2015, 03:59:39 AM
I asked polynesia via pm for extension of 4 days.

loan amount 0.05 with interest 20% changed to 25% interest.

Accepted.
I think it is pretty clear that you were intending on repaying the loan with the proceeds from one of your account sales, however no sales appears to have materialized.

Have you considered negotiating with polynesia to see if he is willing to accept one (or more) of your accounts as payment for your loan?
The probable reason for this would be the forum downtime, accounts are generally in high demand, i dont think he will offer any of his spare accounts as collateral as he was adamant that there was no need for collateral
Well if he does not repay in a timely manner, then he will likely receive negative trust which will eliminate any reputation that he previously had with his previous customers. Plus he clearly is attempting to sell his accounts, so I don't see any reason why he can't effectively sell one or two of his accounts to the lender in exchange for the loan to be considered "satisfied"
173  Other / Meta / Re: B(Sh)itcointalk.org hacked yet again what a joke ! on: May 26, 2015, 10:42:37 PM
Well, it's impossible to be completely secure from an attack... they admins ARE human.  My concern is how easily the hackers were able to get in.

How do you know it was easy? How do you know that this was the first attempt?
I would hope that previous social engineering attacks would have been reported both internally (within the company) and to theymos. This would have allowed both to take additional precautions to prevent this kind of attack.

It is however possible that getting KVM access was attempted multiple times.
174  Other / Meta / Re: How do I cancel my Bitcoin Forum account? on: May 26, 2015, 04:54:29 PM

Spent the last 5 minutes looking for a way to cancel this account and can't find anything.

I don't use this forum but just received an e-mail claiming to be from the admin and that ... "I regret to have to inform you that
some information about your account was obtained by an attacker who successfully compromised the bitcointalk.org server. "

I've changed my password so hopefully I've locked out anyone who breaks the hashed pw.  I've added an unbreakable "secret question" reply as well.

Since there is no point in me maintaining an account, I want it S-canned.  Failing that I'll set a ridiculously long random password and then forget it.

Cheers,
DarthSillious.

Accounts can't be deleted. Change your password to something incredibly secure, delete your posts, and make sure your email is secure.
Another option would be to change your password to something incredibly weak and then wait for the forum to get hacked again.
175  Other / Meta / Re: theymos is a government agent | do not use this forum it is honeypot on: May 26, 2015, 03:01:02 PM
Yes, you guessed it right. If you are a donator - as a result you will gain an ability to change your nickname. Normal users can not change their names.
The only problem here is I didn't know that you can change it to be exactly the same as someone else's name. As you could see there were two account named 'satoshi' at some point.
I am not sure how it is possible. Maybe he used some blank spaces in this name, I am not sure. But you can tell by forum ID when you check profile: real Satoshi ID is just user no3 and this fake is some higher number.

The username and display name are different but I don't know how they changed it. I just tried to change mine to satoshi and satoshi ' and it said the username is reserved.
they were probably either using a special characters or used invisible characters at the end of their name or theymos made adjustments so VIPs cannot change their username to something similar to satoshi

Edit: it was most likely that one of the characters was special. TF was using "ѕatοѕhi" and a Google search with that term only comes back with a bunch of forum posts from TF, while a Google search of me manually typing "satoshi" comes back with more results.
176  Other / Meta / Re: About the recent server compromise on: May 26, 2015, 02:36:10 PM
The site has become incredibly slow since the compromise and I'm getting a lot of "502 Bad Gateway" notifications.
Not actually see errors here. And the site works fine and fluent, however sometimes when I do actions(PM,Posts) it laggs so much that it usually takes about 30 seconds to post something

The forum was very laggy earlier on but it's been working ok since. I'm sure it'll be up and down every now and again until the forum gets back on its feet.
I think the period when it was laggy/slow was a peak usage time for the forum. I would be interested to see if the forum experiences similar performance issues around the same time tonight.
177  Other / Meta / Re: The New Altcoin Board Placement is Elegant and Understated. :) on: May 26, 2015, 02:55:25 AM
That's a bug. The categories keep moving around, I'd guess because SMF is relying on undefined MySQL behavior that I messed up by switching to a different version of MySQL. I will fix it in the near future.
I am not sure this should be considered a bug. Pretty much all altcoins are trash (with maybe enough exceptions that can be counted on one hand). Even these exceptions are already pretty well known outside of bitcointalk so I personally see little reason to keep the altshitcoin section anywhere else then the very bottom.
178  Other / Meta / Re: Was TF finally given a scammer tag? on: May 26, 2015, 02:33:08 AM
<--

Best regards.

It's best to assume that the display name, title, and personal text, are all set by the holder of the account as scammer tags have been all phased out.
LOL. I think I have my answer.

The reason I asked is because you were clearly impersonating satoshi which would probably be frowned upon by most.

There have been a few exceptions to giving out what is essentially a scammer tags since they were done away with
179  Other / Meta / Was TF finally given a scammer tag? on: May 26, 2015, 02:22:47 AM
It appears that TradeFortress aka freehugs aka $username aka (a few other aliases) recently has his username changed back to TradeFortress and his custom title changed to SCAMMER.

Does this mean that TF was finally given a scammer tag after two major "hacks" that resulted in the "loss" (aka theft by him) of literally thousands of BTC?
180  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk account hacked? on: May 26, 2015, 01:36:46 AM
Your account was not hacked, although there is a chance that it may get hacked in the future if you don't change your password, which I would highly suggest doing so
