161  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it right to advice other people against gambling for personal reasons like?? on: April 09, 2024, 07:09:55 PM
Hi guys and ladies,

Sorry I can't share the Facebook post this thread stems from, as I lost the post, hours ago before deciding to bring it up as a discussion on this forum.

Like 6 to 7 hours ago, I was over there on Facebook scrolling my life-time away  Grin, I came to this post where the user was advising readers on how bad gambling is, being a gambler myself, I decided to open the post in fall to read and know what the dude is all about, and from all the story, it seems the dude went all in on a gambling sprey which didn't turn out the way he had anticipated, according to him, he had lost all his life savings (over $60,000) to gambling and it all started with a bet of $10.

And right now, the dude is all out to castigate and discourage as many that are willing to give him a listening ear; from gambling, all for what? Because gambling didn't turn out well for him, he lost his entire life savings, and he now believed that that is exactly how every other persons out there gambling will lose too.

What do you make of this, I honestly do not know but deep inside of me, I feel it's absolutely wrong to advice people against doing something, just because you did the same thing and it did not favor you..

Do you guys think it's OK to advice other gamblers to quit gambling simply because of your own bad experience, does your bad experience mean that every other gambler out there will also have the same bad experience?
I will like some really useful discussions around this topic.
Op the dude is actually doing the right thing at the right time, he has experienced something unusual and he does not want others to experience same thing . Experience they said is the best teacher and he is actually teaching with experience.

For me, advising others not to fall victim of gambling losses is not bad rather it shows good of him to be morally inclined to help others desist from failure. Gambling is a game of luck and chance and it’s not must you take the advice but there are those whom the advice will influence their lives very well.
162  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have a habit of tracking your gambling progress? on: April 09, 2024, 02:55:13 PM
Do you have a habit of tracking your gambling progress?
Tracking your gambling Progress can be very frustrating especially when the bets remain just one To finish , tracking is not always Good for me because most people lose their lives because of It .

Every Good gambler do not see the need To track their gambling Progress because they either gamble for fun or To keep themseves Busy , when you track your gamble you are always very uncomfortable, disturbed And very restless just To see the last result of the gamble .

Tracking the gambling progress is dangerous to health because it increases the number of hypertensive persons in the society so I would advice all those with such habits to minimise it because it is not the best approach to monitor your gambling progress .
163  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can we help beginners not to get addicted on: April 09, 2024, 01:29:59 PM
The reason why I'm not addicted to gambling is because even before I started to play gambling I already understand gambling and its addiction, and my understanding has helped me on how to follow up gambling. Sometimes I ask myself why do people get addicted to gambling, is it because they have no understanding or awareness about the addiction of gamble.

I think majority of people who are addicted to gambling is because they do not understand gambling as beginners, the rules and the side effects of playing gambling excessively.

I think if gambling companies can help to giving beginners to understand gambling and addiction it will help and reduce the rate at which people get addicted o gambling, I mean good lesson for people to get understanding.  Or do gambling companies benefit from gamblers who are addicted, which the awareness of getting addicted can affect their business?.
Gambling companies are like every other firm who  set up their Business for the primary purpose of making peofits. And it is not the right of the gambling companies To advice potential Gamblers not To be addicts because there is no sensitization that will change the perception of a potentially adficted gambler.

Lets take for instance , there are products that have exclusion clauses And which the company have spent alot of money To sensitize But yet It has no effects on the end users , like the ciggerate companies that attatched a notice on the packets of every cigerate ( that smokers are liable To die young) But yet people are turning To chain smokers Everyday And still dying of kidney failure And many more associated lung diseases.

However, gambling addiction is something that you can not predict because It starts gradually till It becomes very uncontrollable.
164  Economy / Gambling discussion / Have you achieved anything from gambling on: April 09, 2024, 01:11:15 PM
Hello pals , this might Sound Crazy And funny But there are some meanings To It when looked At critically ,I Was having some chats with My colleaques in the Office And I told them that I am waiting for the right Time to stake my bets online and one of them opted that he hates gambling and that he has never achieved anything from the money he makes while gambling , and that he either Drinks with The money or goes to club with his girl Friend and many more unfortunate reasons .

Still on the matter another colleaque of mine backed him up saying that since he started gambling that he has never achieved anything tangible from gambling and that he feels that something mysterious is associated with the money he makes from gambling.

Lastly , i Dont know If you have achieved anything from gambling or you have same perception like my colleaques But for me i have achieved something reasonable and tangible from gambling , So please friends let me see your opinions on this .
165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the highest amount of money you've ever bet in a single game? on: April 08, 2024, 11:46:41 PM
Op that might be very painful losing such amount of money To a strong team like Argentina , I am not a Good gambler And I Find It very difficult To risk very huge amount of money instead I will use the money To fund My fixtutes account And trade crypto And make some profilts.

In addition , even If I decise To gamble for any game , I Dont usually give any trust To a team because I believe that gambling is a game of chance And luck And I often Favour those with the higher odds because any thing can happen within that SPACE of 90 minutes And I Dont gamble any amount that i am not willing to lose.

Lastly , everything that invloves risk needs carefulness, consistency And appropriate decision making , It is not actually about the money you will stand To lose But How much It will hurt your feelings And distract your emotions. So talking about amount of money To lose I Dont actually know the exact amount because I always stake less To win big And It has been working for me .
166  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Patience can help alot on: April 08, 2024, 10:26:15 PM
Patience And self discpline is the key when It comes To gambling because gambling invloves risk And the ability for you To reduce or manage the risk is to wear the armour of patience And self discipline especially while playing online games .

Patience helps alot because It not only reduce the chances of  your losses But also increases the viability of your potential wins, patience controls your decision making process ,It also helps you To guide against Instability when It comes To selection of odds and games. Patience emphatically plays pivotal roles when It comes To gambling because It regulates your decision making and prevents you from unfortunate losses And also gives you chance To exploit every meaningful opportunities .

167  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where is the fun when you lose your money? on: April 08, 2024, 10:05:01 PM
Op what you will understand is that most people Dont gamble because of money they will win or lose , they gamble for fun sake because the game makes them happy And nothing much .

I have actually seen a gambler in different scenarios that will gamble  with huge amount of money But At the end he will give out the money To others after winning , he just gambles to have fun .

Looking At your question’where is the fun when you lose money’ . My dear no human being enjoys loss And no one has Ever be happy that he is losing out Resources, But when It comes To gambling most people Dont consider the losses , some are even willing To lose more just To be happy . Every gambler has what motivates him or her And It  is either the winning aspect or the losing aspect .

168  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: advice for a beginner on: April 08, 2024, 09:29:19 PM
Hello, I'm a new trader. I started a month ago. I deposited $100, and now I've lost $40. Any advice for me? I watched some YouTube videos and found a technical analysis video which helped a lot. I started not losing as much. Sometimes I even earn. But even though, I feel so lost. Like every day, I see some random coins get boosted. Some people earn from how they know that coin will go up. I'm sorry for my bad English; it's not my first language.
Most times It is always Advisable To start with demo accounts for practices before using a Real account .trading requires time And patience before you can achieve huge Success as you are envisaging because It deals With price fluctuation .

However, I will advice you not To quit because  failure begets Success , you have already lost $40 as you said , Do not regret It ,always try And push harder with Good strategies , also try And have self discipline So that you dont jumb in every trade you see without a proper analysis .

Focus your Technical analysis on a particular pair And take much time To observe It with higher time frame, dont be So quick in making decision And do not be greedy while trading because It will make you To Lose more money .

Finally , always see every loss as a challenge , And dont risk any amount that you can not afford to lose, And also learn To hodl as a beginner than trading .
169  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does gambling excites you ? on: April 08, 2024, 08:56:45 PM
Hi,

There are always things that we are passionate about doing, such as video games, football, basketball, and sports in general, meaning that everyone has something that excites them and makes them want to do.
Like others, I get very excited when I sit down, take my phone, and start my bets. This does not mean that I am addicted, but rather I find it more comfortable and I have more fun.

Does gambling excites you? What motivates you, winning or just the fun in it ?
Op just like you said , So many things make people happy At different direction , gambling in other hands excite me But not as much as when am Reading a novel or playing  football . I  only get excited in gambling when am playing visual bet And winning all My chances staked And It is not frequently because am not a Fan of gambling .

Most times i gamble just because i see My friends gambling And not because i like It, maybe because i am not an addict But gambling sometimes make me happy when my predictions ate Accurate And successful as staked .
However, what motivates me in gambling is the winning aspect because there is Joy in every win And gives me the mind to try another prediction.
170  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What makes a post to be quality? on: April 05, 2024, 12:44:51 AM
Some forum members are known to be shit posters by the way they use English in sentences wrongly, and some readers would say they can't read or merit a post that is written in broken English, and some members of this forum the English language is a borrowed language to them which it is not very familiar with them. Non English speakers will definitely want to use English to discuss in the forum because this forum is all about discussion and for other members to also understand their point because the English language is a universal language for communication.

What makes a post to be quality? Good English language or the content of the post?.
And if good English, well written in good sentences defines a post to be quality is it that Non English speakers are not qualify to be in this forum or to discuss in general boards because they are only good in speaking broken English which is a borrowed language.
Speaking about what makes a post quality , Good English is quite nice for easy communication so that the message will be well communicated To the public But looking critically To what defines a quality post Good english might not be prioritized, reason been that your english might be well organized But Lacks quality And has no valuable information To pass To the public.

However, from my own perspective what makes a post quality includes one of the followings :
1.content: The content should be educative, valuable And have the ability To infulence the readers.
2.Precision : The post should be precise And the information should be conveyed without excessive words.
3. The post should define a particular area of interest . And many more .

174  Other / Beginners & Help / The identity of the bitcoin founder. on: March 28, 2024, 03:46:03 AM
This might look very crazy, but it is very important that i know it, i was having a friendly chat with my bosom friend and some of our fellow students, and we were discussing on how to manage our funds and how to make proper investment without fear of scammers and other related criminal effects on the invested funds.

While still deliberating on the issue i told them that i have already invested in bitcoin and some other Altcoins, i also made it very clearer to them that cryptocurrency is the only way out for financial freedom considering the lingering economic crisis. more still, i told them that someone introduced me to this forum bitcointalk that if they want to know more about bitcoin and cryptocurrency at large that they should join the forum and gain more knowledge about it, they all accepted but one of them came up with a shocking question which i cannot answer and i know that some of the newbies like me do not know the answer too to the question and that was why i decided to bring it here .

He came up with this question 'why is the identity of the bitcoin founder (Satoshi Nakamoto) remained unknown'?,  i will be very glad if any of the high ranked members can provide us with the answer so we can add it to our knowledge too. thanks.
175  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is age a limitation in Bitcoin on: March 27, 2024, 07:59:47 PM
Hi there to all of you. One of the most amazing things I've noticed about Bitcoin is that it doesn't have an age requirement before using it or creating a wallet. In traditional banking, however, one must be 16 or older to open an account, unless they have assistance from a guide who helped them do so. Additionally, no matter how young you are, no one can question you about how you make money because no one keeps an eye on your wallet.
yeah, it's quite different from our normal traditional banking system but even at that age is also a major factor while acquiring bitcoin because your understanding as a teenager is not as same as an adult. And also, most exchanges might require some identification cards for verification and validation and those cards are gotten when you have reached the statutory age requirement of your country, hence Age is important in every sphere of life.
176  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: What is the nature of life when life is not constant? on: March 27, 2024, 03:48:59 AM
Op that is a good one but remember that change is the only thing that is constant in life. And from your definition you said that life is dynamic which invariably implies that life is not constant because dynamism is synonymous with change hence life is transitional.

Remember that we are born into the life without our permission, and we are told to be the slave of the system and then die. so, the nature of life when life is not constant is change because even the clouds, sun, moon, human nature, time and many more changes as well.
177  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If there was no government to govern us (humans) on: March 26, 2024, 11:40:29 PM
At some points, I wonder how the world would be without a governance, I don't care to know about histories of how politics and government has been in existence before these days.
My interest is ... Could we (humans) had lived a peaceful soul here on earth without a governing body and no laws?

my dear that is a wonderful question, human beings as the name implies are higher animals and they are very complex to deal with, very stubborn to control, and very hard to take corrections.

for instance, there is government who instituted some regulatory agencies to govern the affairs of human beings but yet we still leave in a lawless society where rules and regulations are very difficult to obey, where the laws are being neglected, where some individuals are above the law, where some laws are being made for only the poor and many more scenarios.

however, if the world existed without governance, the world would have been in state of Anarchy and doom, state of confusion, there will be no respect for fundamental human rights, it will virtually turn to a situation where the rich will marginalize the poor and it will even shock you that we might end up buying the air that we breathe. lastly i thank God for governance even though it's been manipulated at some points, but it is quite better than existing without governance.

179  Other / Beginners & Help / How do you feel when you earn merits in your post or replies. on: March 23, 2024, 03:17:21 AM
Before i started making a post or replies as a newbie, I explored the forum and I saw different usernames and ranks with so many earned merits and post counts, at first i was confused and very scared because I don't know when I will get a single merit not to talk about multiple merits of the legendary ranks.

Because of fear and huge phobia to write nonsense, I started reading the posts of high ranked members, precisely from full member rank up to the legendary rank to know how they organize their words and come out with a quality post. I was very comfortable reading their threads and learning how they arrange their topics to fit the forum standards, so many of the high ranked members are good quality posters i must confess, i did not want to mention names here but permit me to tell you that fillippone inspired me a lot with his writing skills and his organization of words.

lastly, my first post was not merited and the feeling is not something I can say here, but I was still very curious and anxious to learn how to earn merits then, my second post was merited and that was when I felt that am beginning to understand the forum because i was very excited at my first merit even when I know that I don't have much merits now but that first feeling gave me hope that I will succeed and  learn more in the forum . So, friends  i will like to see how you felt at your first merits if you can make out time to share with me thanks.
180  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quickest way to earn merit? on: March 23, 2024, 02:43:56 AM
I'm new here. What's all about this merit count? How is it earned? I'm assuming it's linked to the quality/usefulness of your posts/replies? Their originality maybe? What are usually the subjects you'd get the more merit for posting about?
For someone to earn merit on the forum just like you said that is linked to the quality/usefulness of your post and replies, that is very understandable. but outside that i don't really think that there is quickest way to earn merit rather to identify your area of specialization, identify the boards that you can make quality contributions, useful suggestions and make an educating post that people can learn from, then merits will come.

most times, you often see your post as quality post and reasonable replies and at same time you will be expecting to be merited but at the end you will not see any merits , just have it in mind that the merits source have seen your quality post and good replies and they will give you merit when the time comes , hence , the summary here is that you can earn merits through a quality post and reasonable replies and nothing much.
