161  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: When Self-investment beats every form of investment on: March 22, 2024, 03:38:07 PM
Self- investment is really one of the great achievement in life but I believe it's crucial to understand that self-investment encompasses more than just financial gain or professional achievement. Investing in your relationships, interests, and passions is also important. Engaging in activities that make you happy, exploring your interests, and spending time with loved ones are all examples of self-investment. Actually, you may find that doing these things increases your success and productivity in other spheres of your life. We are more likely to be driven and effective in other areas of our lives when we feel content and joyful. Additionally, investing in your knowledge, talents, and abilities can open up new doors and result in a fulfilling existence. This is one of the area of personal development.
162  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Why people dey fear to invest in Bitcoin and crypto? on: March 22, 2024, 03:27:52 PM
I believe that one of the main challenges is the absence of legislation and regulation pertaining to cryptocurrencies. It can be challenging for people to feel comfortable investing in digital currencies because different nations have varied rules and regulations pertaining to them. There is also the security concern. Given the abundance of reports of cryptocurrency exchange hacks and users losing their private keys, it makes sense that consumers would be concerned about losing their money if they made an investment in cryptocurrency. Additionally, some people's fear of the unknown prevents them from investing because, even after you explain things to them, they might not know how to proceed. E get some wey their no dey fit carry computer, dem go learn tire yet nothing go enter their brain, while some people dey fear to invest na say dem no dey civilized, dey just believe in old days and are not ready to learn either although no be their fault sha.
163  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Will the Prices of Cooking Gas Ever come down in Nigeria on: March 22, 2024, 03:16:30 PM
The rising price of cooking Gas in Nigeria has affected Nigerians Even as many Nigeria homes are now resulting in alternative fuel source. FG have taken various steps to reduce the high cost of cooking gas in Nigeria, it is also important to Note that since cooking gas is imported using The United States Dollars,Same will continue to increase if the Nigeria Naira continue to devalue.

If there are ways to lower the price of cooking gas, but the government lacks the political will to put them into practice, then those ways won't cut it. And that presents a significant challenge because the government must weigh a wide range of conflicting interests and priorities. In order to make cooking gas more accessible and inexpensive, the government should also consider lowering or eliminating import tariffs on the fuel. Enhancing the nation's trade balance by lowering imports and raising exports would help the Naira's value, which is one of the factors contributing to the exorbitant price of cooking gas. This is something the government could do to assist.

If you're facing financial issues paying for digital courses on Coursera, udemy, or Google, even when you would have loved to get that digital skill, this is surely an opportunity you wouldn't want to miss for anything.

The Commonwealth of Learning is partnering with Google, udemy, and Coursera to teach free digital skills to interested youths in the Commonwealth member states.

From the information I gathered, the three learning platforms, i.e. Google, udemy, and Coursera have been fully paid and your certificate is all sorted out so what you need is just the willingness to upgrade yourself, an active mobile device and you're good to go. The registration process is very straight forward and it's damn free.

For those that want to upgrade their portfolio by learning more digital courses, this is a perfect opportunity you will have to cease. The registration is opened till the 30th of this month so you're free to register now or pass it on to someone that's in need of it.

Here is the link for the registration and any possible detail you would want to get https://col-skillsforwork.org

Based on what I've read, living in a Commonwealth member state is the primary prerequisite for this free service. This covers a wide range of nations, including Nigeria, India, Australia, and Canada. Apart from that, it appears that students of any age or educational background can enroll in the classes. Therefore, you ought to be able to benefit from this chance regardless of your status—retired, enrolled in school, or employed as a professional. The fact that so many people can access this is extremely awesome. There are a ton of possibilities available if you're merely seeking to pick up a new skill; creative writing, photography, etc., for example, might be very helpful for job growth.
165  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Having Self-Appraisal on: March 21, 2024, 09:17:18 PM

168  Economy / Economics / Re: Fix the money, Fix the world. on: March 21, 2024, 03:07:40 PM
The Rich/Government has used money as a tool to oppress the poor in a way that they practically use it to control everything in the world with the help of financial institutions.

The high class as they are called has maintained dominance in everything, not to be bitcoin biased or cynical, but in this case, I see Bitcoin as the alternative to this controversy and if we want to eliminate the power that is intoxicating us, then we must advocate for alternative means, Bitcoin as a currency without any central control will handle this menace in a manner that everybody will have power, control and self custody of their bitcoin, the market forces will now depend on more individual investments in it and group or institutional adoption, just imagine making Bitcoin handy and accessible to the populace.

I think the world will be a better place without notice or segregation between the rich and the poor if Bitcoin is embraced fully since Bitcoin is not a currency of a particular country everyone has the equal right and power to either store it or use it.

Indeed, one of the main obstacles to Bitcoin's mainstream adoption is the belief that it is a speculative asset. Instead of using Bitcoin as a medium of exchange for regular transactions, many people view it as something to invest in and cling onto. The price of Bitcoin can fluctuate significantly, making it difficult for some people to use it as currency. In fact, I prefer earning in dollars rather than our own currency because of the state of affairs in this country and the government's desire to destroy rather than help. This is something that critics of Bitcoin frequently cite as evidence why it won't be able to replace traditional currencies. Therefore, for the benefit of others, particularly those who did not attend education, Bitcoin is truly not the only alternative.
169  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic growth and it effect on the standard of living on: March 21, 2024, 02:52:44 PM
Economic growth growth is an increase in the production of goods and services of a nation

Effect on the living standard of a population can't be overemphasized as it has an impact on the living standard of any country

When ever there's an economic growth there is always a creation of jobs and new opportunities for the population thereby translating to creation of wealth of the population

Guys what do you think about economic growth as it affects standard of living let discuss

Income disparity is another important element to take into consideration. If economic growth is not distributed fairly, it might not result in an increase in everyone's standard of life. For instance, not everyone may profit from a nation's strong economic growth if there is also a significant level of income disparity. It's likely that some people's level of life will really decrease. There is a growing awareness of this among economists and decision-makers. The quality of social services such as welfare, healthcare, and education can also have a big influence on people's living standards.
170  Economy / Economics / Re: Recession soon? on: March 21, 2024, 02:46:56 PM
You should also take into account the particular industry you work in. A recession is more likely to affect some industries than others. Certain businesses, such as construction and hospitality, are particularly susceptible to fluctuations in the economy due to their cyclical nature. More stable and less cyclical are industries like healthcare and education. Thus, it's important to think about your industry and assess how vulnerable it is to a recession. Since nothing in this world is permanent, you must be prepared for everything. To avoid going bankrupt, you might also think about beginning a side business or investing your money in case there is ever a recession.
171  Economy / Economics / Re: Banking on people's ideas, visions, and talents. on: March 21, 2024, 02:37:16 PM
Have you ever met individuals with insane and brilliant ideas that got you wondering, how come he knows all this and it's not even reflected in his life? Some could give you real business ideas that could change a whole generation but that's all they can do, they can't bring it to reality and all their ideas only end on the discussion ground and never come to life.

I've met some of them and I must say, they are the backbone of so many successful businesses. Always with brilliant solutions to hands-on problems but can't put things together all by themselves to create a company of their own.

I believe nature is fair to all and while it gives some people that quality, others can bank from these brilliant ideas and bring it all to reality by supporting the ideas with the needed finance, resources, and coordination required to have a successful firm.

What do you think?

In my opinion, it all begins with appreciating the unique qualities of every individual and refraining from pressuring others to conform to our ideals. Even though they don't have the temperament for entrepreneurship, some people have brilliant ideas that could advance society. Additionally, some people may not have the same talent for developing original concepts even though they are fantastic at making ideas come to reality. It's critical, in my opinion, to foster an atmosphere in which both kinds of individuals may prosper and collaborate. The creators of Apple, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, spring to mind as one example. While Wozniak was the technical wizard who could really turn Jobs' ideas into reality, Jobs was renowned for his vision and ability to sell ideas.Together, they built one of the most prosperous businesses in the world. They also formed a strong relationship, which is how things should be balanced and explains why partners from different socioeconomic backgrounds work together.
172  Economy / Economics / Re: Farming and it importance to the economy on: March 21, 2024, 02:23:51 PM
Farming is an essential part of any society's economy, and I appreciate that it can also help us by keeping prices of goods stable and affordable. The government can also assist us in supporting our farmers by giving them the resources they need, including farmland and tools, even if that means sending them to school to further their knowledge of agriculture and providing fertilizer for farming. Furthermore, agriculture is greatly impacted by climate change globally, and farming can also aid in lowering the high rates of hunger and poverty in our society, particularly given the state of the economy, people will not find it difficult in eating again, the only problem is that, we won't prepare the food as we wanted but we still eat, " half bread is better than none" like they said. So it's better to go to our farm, take what   we have planted and process it to food.
173  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Coping with expectations on: March 21, 2024, 01:06:51 PM
Expectation from people could be the driving force that keeps us going or the reason why some of us gets depressed because of our inability to meeting those expectations.

Because some children did well while growing up in there preliminary classes, people always expect you to come out of the university with destinction and when you're unable to do so, it could get you depressed because it appears most time as though you've failed big time in life and that no one will even understand you at all. I'm at a cross road where my parent and siblings believe so much in me, academically, because I did well in high school but the reality is that I wasn't my best in the university and no one wants to imagine that its a possibility.

How then do I mange the expectation of people on me such that i don't get into depression when I'm  unable to meet up with it.?

It's almost like everyone knows you're going to succeed but don't even care about what you're passing through while you're striving to make them proud.

You may use this chat to let them know that you're scared that you won't be able to live up to their expectations and that you're feeling overburdened by the pressure of them. You might let them know that you wish to follow your own path rather than just doing what they think is right and discuss your own aspirations and plans for the future. Having this talk could be difficult, but it could also be very crucial for you to set limits and stay loyal to who you are. By doing this, you may avoid placing the blame elsewhere and keep the discourse focused on your own experiences. You may use this chat to let them know that you're scared that you won't be able to live up to their expectations and that you're feeling overburdened by the pressure of them. 174  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do not waste your time on: March 21, 2024, 12:52:23 AM
Time is money, in the affair's of life every second counts.
Wasting your time on frivolities, is not in the best interest of any individual.

Social media has its own positive side, but I believe some persons use it negatively, you can spend precious hour's on social media without knowing how far you've gone. This are precious lost times that cannot be regained.

So let's learn how to be focused on goals and not be distracted.

You're absolutely correct; understanding that time is money is highly essential to how we spend our lives. Another effective method is to engage in time-blocking, which is the process of organizing your day into specified pieces of time while setting responsibilities to each one. For example, you may schedule an item of time in the morning to check the internet and reply to messages, followed by another period of time to work on a particular task or project. This can help you stay organized and effective while also making time for the things that matter to you.
175  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How do you handle borrowers? on: March 21, 2024, 12:42:58 AM
Only lend out what you can afford to lose.
In the past, if someone whom I am not certain about came to me asking for Financial assistance, I would only give them the amount am comfortable losing in case they don't repay. For the case of family members or very close friends, I give them without expecting it back.

If I feel like I can't afford to lend out the money I have, i just simply tell them that I don't have anything I can lend out at that moment. If they offer any form of tangible collateral, then well and good.
Great idea! You appear to be taking similar approaches in different parts of your life when considering the possible advantages and dangers of making a choice. For example, while making a professional choices, it's possible that weigh the possible advantages of choosing another position, such as more income or more fulfilling work, against the possible risks, such as reduced secure employment or an extended trip. It's a matter of hitting the right point and choosing the best option for you. It's a very practical way of observing matters, and it's an extremely useful ability to have. And it's wonderful that you're prepared to help those who are closest to you without asking something in exchange.
176  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Things you see in the society on: March 21, 2024, 12:26:32 AM
Yes we have different people with different religion and different opinion this is how it looks when we see from outside but if you drill down its divided at every stage. You will be known as Muslim, Christian, Hindu or any other religion only when you are amongst other community but within community you will be identified with the sect, sub sect of the religion. Society is divided where everyone wants power and younger generation thinks that older generation as liabilities and older generation thinks younger generation are misguided and spoilt. Unless we keep our opinion to ourself and stop judging people it would continue to be a messed up society.

The easiest way that could assist is by concentrating on establishing commonalities rather than pointing the disparities between us. For instance, rather of concentrating on the various religious factions within an organization, we should emphasize the common principles and convictions that unite us. We may strive to have an open and respectful discussion about our opposing viewpoints minus making anyone feel disregarded or ignored. And we have the opportunity to solve problems that affect our entire community. This may be challenging at first, but it is an important move in establishing a more united and accepting environment.
177  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Is this a result of a poor investment plan or what? on: March 20, 2024, 11:56:06 PM
Lately, we've seen series of deaths in the Nollywood space and sadly, most of our legends died because of diseases that could be treated if the financial resource was readily available at the time it was needed but as sad as it's always been, most of them have to beg for financial help from the public before even getting the money needed for thier treatment.

I know some of them joined the industry at the time when social media monetization wasn't popular and might not have gotten the financial benefit this current Nollywood stars have now through social media but I still know that they had money during their prime and that if they had probably invested the money into some major things, by now, they wouldn't get to a point where to get money for  proper treatment would be a major problem.

What do you think is  the possible cause of the mysterious sickness that always surrounds the death of most of our Nollywood stars? Do you think the industry isn't fetching them alot of money as the average outsider imagin? If they invested their wealth into something tangeable, would they necessarily beg before undergoing major medical treatment?

Fowl go dey shit for person head, person go just dey continue dey follow am dey go, if the person nor go do anything. Na so the acting profession for Nigeria be, dem no get financial management on how to chop their money. Na why dem dey beg for social media after dem don old small. The industry fit help them, by teaching them about money. Dem fit do class for money management. Dem fit connect them to person wey dey work with money, to give them advice. Dem fit even set up welfare scheme wey go dey give help to the actors and actresses wey don old small and no dey fit work well well again. The scheme fit pay for some of their bills like rent and medical care. So that them fit no dey beg for social media again. Or maybe the government fit help or maybe use part of the money wey dem don make from acting or shows to take do welfare scheme.
178  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Elementary Economics or What Alternatives? on: March 20, 2024, 11:34:06 PM
When I was in class three in the year 1983, my economics tutor taught us in the class the fundamentals of the subject. Till now those topics such as; definition, market forces, opportunity cost, scarcity, comparative cost advantage, laws of returns, productivity and so on are more often than not a reflection of my mind.
Again, in this recent times, another topic has caught up my reflection such as Import Substitution as was one of the topics of yesteryears in the class. It is an economic device to remedy the continuous fall of the demands and earnings for primary products, mostly oil and gas. On this basis, it inadvertently brings about the fall of foreign exchange earnings. With this development, budget is affected which creates room for externalities, this means much suffering and woes.
The import substitution device makes room for two solutions; the curtailment and limitation of foreign imports, secondly, the massive production of local substitutes such as agriculture, local content products etc. However, within the space of one year, this device is able to provide sufficiently all the goods and services needed by the people of the country.
Is this what is happening in Nigeria or there is another economics device not being taught in the class rooms?. The Almighty God should help calm the fray nerves of the disappointed citizens, or otherwise.
I would want the public in this forum to contribute to the body of knowledge on this serious matter on ground so as to ventilate violent conflicts in the country.

I believe you presented a wonderful point on the necessity of food safety and how it may contribute to the prosperity of the nation. Agriculture is an important business for the country's economy, and it has been recognized as one of the fields that might be expanded to increase national production as well as job creation.
I also find it fascinating that you emphasized specific local goods. sincerely concerned whether there is a method to encourage the use of local material using things as law enforcement, etc. And you are correct that informing the general population and creating ways that encourage conversation is necessary.
179  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How to make choices in difficult times like this on: March 20, 2024, 11:22:05 PM
Every human being must make a choice each day neither good nor bad one must be left with a choice to make in our everyday life. And what is choice? choice simply means ( choose) a business person must choose the goods that would give him profit at the end of the day strategy is also a choice, there are different online businesses now you as an investor that wants to make profit from it will know the one you put your finance in to get a profit at the end, same way we have many Altcoin you choose the one to trade and also choose the one to invest in also choose the one for mining. The part you choose to trade on in life determine your success so many people have made wrong choices financially and other way round.

I heard about some one who was given the chance to choose between three times feeding with no pocket money and work that will pay him 60k every month by a soldier who was transferred to his area, but instead this guy chose the feeding I won't criticize it's his choice now what if this same soldier is transferred has this guy not lost everything thing it is as good as from grace to grass, from something to nothing.

So we should learn how to make our choices very well some people might need it urgently but will that urgent taught help you later or you just want to eat your tomorrow today and suffer tomorrow. LET'S BE WISE IN OUR CHOICES.

Wetin fit really help person become better at making choice, na to dey reason why dem dey do wetin dem dey do. Make person dey understand why dem dey feel or think wetin dem dey feel or think, and how that thing dey affect how dem dey take do things. And also e dey  important to dey set goals wey clear, wey person fit measure, wey person fit achieve, wey dey make sense, and wey get deadline. Dis fit help person to dey focus and to dey motivated, even when things dey hard. So even if things dey hard, person no need to dey give up on top the goal wey dem set. And we fit dey also dey seek help from our friends, family or professionals or counselor etc. to help us reason why we go dey make choices wey we dey make. Those people wey we go meet for their support fit give us their own idea and dem fit also help us see things wey we no dey see before. And also, e dey always important to remember say every mistake na opportunity to learn. If we dey make bad choice, no be to dey hate ourselves too must but rather make we try dey learn from am.
180  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Looks like Nigeria is getting worse.. on: March 20, 2024, 10:56:31 PM
Omo, Nigeria dey get worse no be small thing o, and the way I dey see am self I no sure say e go better again o rather e go dey worse dey go, like as things don over cost now, dem never even reason am to dey reduce price because them never even open bother wey go even make importation no too dey cost again and as e be so, we wey be Nigerians don dey adapt to am, so the thing go dey make things more difficult for people even if as we dey complain yet, we go still dey move on. So Nigeria no fit better pass as e dey now so wentin we go just do na just to dey pray make God also dey help us if not plenty bad things go dey happen every day and e go dey affect us, some even fit die in the process.
