Can someone with multiple boards please give me some help with getting both of mine upto speed?

I have 2 and occassionally I get them up to a total of ~710Mh/s, but most of the time I'm only getting ~520Mh/s average total (so that's 260Mh/s per board).

Hard to say (at least for me), norulezapply, since you're using a rather "uncommon" platform to mine (raspberry).

Anyway, in my experience, the only difference is in the controller FPGA firmware, 1.3 seems better in achieving an uniform U: across all boards (but you already have it).

Here are mine

-snip-

As you can see I've got a U: around 2.30-2.60, I'm using cgminer 2.4.3 as well on an ubuntu low power pc.

Note that I have a FPGA which is underperforming the others (it is ICA 9 here) and which has always underperformed no matter what controller revision I was using.

I'm starting cgminer like this

-snip-

spiccioli.

Thank you for the info Smiley

Seems like your setup is quite similar to mine though (I don't think using the Raspberry Pi should affect anything, but maybe I'm wrong).

I'll try using a few different USB cables tomorrow or something.

EDIT: I am using a powered USB hub - specifically this one : http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_5&products_id=113169

I have both boards flashed with the twin_test bitstream and the rev 1.3 controller.

The boards are plugged into a USB hub with two separate USB cables.

I am using a RaspberryPi to run cgminer 2.4.3 and provide work to the boards.

I'm running a SINGLE instance of cgminer 2.4.3 for both boards.

Command line is something like "-S /dev/ttyUSB2 -S /dev/ttyUSB3 -S /dev/ttyUSB6 -S /dev/ttyUSB7". (i'm not using the icarus-timing option)

Dip switches are set to the defaults for the twin_test running mode bitstream.

Can someone please give me a hand to figure out why I'm not getting the full hashrate? I have Skype/MSN if someone would rather speak about it over that.

At first I was just going to wait until the stable bitstream is released, but I figured I may as well fix it now just incase.

Thank you in advance

hi eldentyrell,

i have tried the last TML version on cairnsmore1 with the following result with the buildin usb to jtag FTDI chip FT4232:

Do you know what's wrong here? jtag connect to the cable and "idcode" shows 4x XC6SLX150 FPGAs. It also look's like successfully patched with the "tdo" command.

Can you help here?

Thank you!

eb

I've had similar problems attempting to run it with the built-in 4232.  Could possibly be related to the undocumented DIP switch functions.  If enterpoint would only publish a schematic, or even a .ucf for their board, we could happily have native support in no time.

Yohan: Please release a pinout or ucf file for your board, I will happily write the java interface.

Chris

Best off reposting this in the Cairnsmore1 thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=78239.1240;topicseen
And PM'ing yohan directly.
EDIT: whoops! looks like you did already Smiley

I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate this!

Okay so it is veiled...

Can you not see the obvious ( and famous ) 4-6 weeks line ?

Looks more like 4-6 years for real BFL product shots.

Fixed that for you... FPGA guys have nothing to worry about Smiley

first let me say I take anything that comes out of the *** camp w/ this much salt.

that being said, assuming they can deliver on even 20% of what they've promised, have you come up with/are thinking about anything similar to help the Enterpoint camp stay competitive?

Oh boy, here we go AGAIN...

I'm sure enterpoint will stay competitive with whatever other products are released.

This has been mentioned atleast three times already throughout the thread. Can we PLEASE not start this again? -.-
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Quad XC6SLX150 Board - Initial Price £400/$640/520€ on: June 29, 2012, 05:25:31 PM
Yohan, could you please clarify what you mean with 'you should be able to do that now (i.e. writing to SPI)'? As said above, right now no one successfully wrote to the SPI flash and it is really a PITA to reprogram all devices non persistently again when one of them crashed and need to be powered fully down (you do not know which one is the problematic one and need to turn off all of them).

So either it is possible with the current controller programming, then could you please provide a detailed step-by-step instruction. Or it is not doable over USB but needs to be done via JTAG.

Either way it would be very helpful to flash the Icarus bitstream into SPI until your dedicated one is ready. Any clarification is highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes I think all of this is currently possible and I will double check that this morning that I am not talking crap in any shape or form. We use these processes on our lines already. The load of the 4 array SPI Flash does take over 30 minutes so it does need patience to do. We do a 5-10 boards together here to stop it becoming a line blocker.

I will also see if we can somehow streamline the instructions.

I too would prefer working instructions for flashing to the SPI for the twin_test bitstream.

Personally I would prefer this now as opposed to getting the working bitstream a day earlier so then atleast I can run the twin_test bitstream without going through reflashing it every day.

I would be happy to give enterpoint an interest free loan if they could beat BFl to it.

Who's with me?
I'm not giving anyone an interest free loan.

Id rather they just focus on their bitstream or even release an early version that can hash at 300+, Ive tried for hours to get the twin, or 190_v3 working and it just wont do it on my board. I did get it working again with the shipping_test bitstream so at least I'm getting 110 hash.

Problem is that might be quite far off yet, but I'm just speculating of course. That's why I'd rather have the twin_test flashed to SPI because I'm having problems running twin_test normally also. It's just sat turned off at the minute waiting for updates.

Eb when you did this did you use the twin_test.bit programing switches?

I followed what you did Ebereon I'm still unable to get hashing at over 100, I did have 1 ICA hashing for a few minutes but they always die after a little bit. I also tried the 190M_V3 bitstream but was unsuccessful on that as well.

In most cases when it will not work is the frequency/noise problem. See my post here -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=78239.msg992167#msg992167

I use the programming switches for the shipping bitstream. But i got it also work with the switch settings for the twin_test.bit.

190M_V3.bit is running @ 401Mh/s  (1 hour average) on p2pool stats, so far so good.

I will post an update tomorrow.

Im about to get my boards later this week and it seems like your the who's reporting in with best numbers. Could you please specify what bitstream you are runnin running with what miner and what versions ?

Thank you in advance.

I use:
Original Icarus bitstream "190M_V3.bit"
MPBM latest git with some changes on Win7 32bit
Worker setting in MPBM 115200 baud, jobinterval 11.34

Standard unit switch settings:
SW1 1234 on
SW6 1 off, 234 on
SW2 1234 on
SW3 2 off, 134 on
SW4 2 off, 134 on
SW5 1234 on

Programming switch settings:
SW1 3 off, 124 on
SW6 1234 on
SW2 - SW5 same as Standard

I can programm only in the temporary mode, if i turn off the unit then it have the shipping bitstream again.

I hope this helps a bit  Wink

greets,
eb

I followed these instructions, except I'm using the latest cgminer, which ive been using with the twin_test and shipping_test bitstreams.

I'm running the icarus v3 one at the moment, and on the board i can see it flashing green to say its found shares, but cgminer never reports it. Any idea why?

EDIT: after 10 minutes it has actually submitted 1 share, even though i've been watching the green lights flashing on the cairnsmore1 quite a few times now...

170  Economy / Marketplace / Re: ["WAIT LIST"] BFL Singles Order Date / Ship Date on: June 26, 2012, 11:34:53 AM
A little story.
I ordered BitForce Single September 21, 2011 (pre-order number 22) and received only in April 17, 2012. Wait time 209 days.
When do we receive our ASICs? What do you think?

ASICs are coming! Due October 3012..

Nice ageism dude, and way to troll. I'll bet this lady has mad skillz.  Tongue

Ageism?!  lmfaooooo that is a new one to me.

And not trolling (not intending to anyways).  I am serious.  If I am investing thousands of dollars in hardware, I DAMN SURE do not want Father Times daughter working on it.

Wow, well, judging from that post, I wonder how old you are...  Roll Eyes

That power distribution board looks very well made and I like the fact it'll be stackable with the Cairnsmore1's, that's very nice! Smiley

Shame I wouldn't have any use for it with just my two boards!
173  Other / Off-topic / Re: BitForce SC - Pre order delay on: June 23, 2012, 02:49:17 PM
Wait... a shipping lottery? Is this a fucking joke?

This is going to be entertaining to watch people wait even longer for their products! How professional of you BFL.

State of the Nation Time (What again!!!)

Yohan

Yohan, is it technically possible for you to start ASIC deveopment? We trust you and we can deposit lots of money for your kickstarter.

Its not too late now, i really hope you should start ASIC project now.

The FPGA project isn't even finished yet... I don't think they'd be starting an ASIC project until after that.

Don't let *** scare you..
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Quad XC6SLX150 Board - Initial Price £400/$640/520€ on: June 23, 2012, 12:23:17 PM
Email sent yohan.

Can anyone that has a problem email the new support email with the following:

Board serial number

What revision you think the controller is in. If you didn't touch it just say that.

A description of the problem you have.

What OS your host is running.

What your host is, if you know processor etc. that is all useful to know.

We will try and understand or even try and replicate the problems so that they can debugged. We probably won't do much on that until early next week so please be patient. The better bitstream is our priority for the next few days and as a lot of this stuff will change , hopefully for the better, once that is in place.
We don't want to put a lot of time on the "get going" unless that is strictly necessary as it will delay the better stuff. It would be far better for us to move the whole of the software and firmware side forward so that's the effort for the next few days.

I would also like to know who has a unit working ok is with the currently limited bitstreams. This might get us some insight to where problems actually are as much as the problem unit data. I suspect we don't have a major issue and it's all about recognising any weaknesses in combinations of different things and make even as simple as better docs.
176  Economy / Marketplace / Re: ["WAIT LIST"] BFL Singles Order Date / Ship Date on: June 22, 2012, 11:25:20 PM
Well their statement "We have come up with a way to ship without invoking import taxes for our customers" is a complete and utter lie and rubbish.

The Single cost a total of £90 ($140) import tax.

Should've ordered a Cairnsmore1 from Enterpoint if you're based in the UK. No import tax then Wink because there's nothing to import.
177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Learning to use Bitcoins on: June 22, 2012, 06:28:11 PM

@ norulezapply       Well I define "Begging" as asking for something for nothing for MY own fianical benifit.

If you think thats what I was after then your missing the spirit of the whole post. I was using it as A LEARNING TOOL and nothing else.

I thought it was a novel way to learn how to work with bitcoins before I actually dived into this area

I plan on setting up a mining rig when I can establish whats safe to spend my money on, as at the moment there are competing technoligies arriving ( FPGA vs ASIC ). I dont have the luxury of spending 2000 quid for a rig that MIGHT last 9 to 12 months before its obselete, while I mine say half a bitcoin a day!

Sorry I didn't mean to offend you I just couldn't think of the most suitable word to use.

I do like the spirit of the post but I'm not sure people would trust you is what I was trying to say. Saying that, all transactions are trackable so that could be a way to show that the money is actually going to a charity Smiley

We are starting a Cairnsmore1 specific support email address where we can route problems to the best engineer to be able to sort them out. We will also start a FAQ page in the next few days and try and cover common problems there so hopefully whatever you encounter that there is an answer already waiting for most of you. The support email is bitcoin.support AT enterpoint.co.uk.

Yohan

This is a great idea, thank you Yohan Smiley

Any news on why the SPI flash for the FPGAs isn't working yet when I'm trying to flash the twin_test bitstream permanantly?

If you for some reason do not want to use the router configuration route, see this link:

Note that this is for people who do not have access to a monitor and thus cannot view X windows.
