I still can't buy any smiley coin it is only listed at C-cex and they will not allow a new user account to sign up.

I would like to see this smiley coin get listed over at Crypto Hub Exchange.

Is this something the smiley dev would consider?
We've no problem with registering at any of the exchanges we've heard of... Is it this one: https://cryptohub.online/ ?

But registration sometimes costs money and usually some work. Do you know what this one requires and is there a reason why we want to go there?

PS Yes, ccex is a problem at the moment. I'm sure you know that we've applied at a whole bunch of other exchanges and Novaexchange will definitely reopen.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SMLY- smileycoin - for rewards in education on: February 02, 2018, 08:36:42 AM
Remember this?
You all know that 45% of the coinbase (new coins generated in each block) goes to Education in a Suitcase (EIAS).
...if the price of SMLY goes up a bit then it is logical for EIAS to sell some of the donations.
...EIAS to submit multiple sell offers (set ask price) in a range around a target.
...The sales will be used to fund operations in Kenya and possibly also some development work
...select a price or price range where it is considered appropriate for EIAS to sell some of the funds.

We've tended to think prices in Sats since the markets are all in crypto, but that has its problems: The price this last fall went up in USD but down in Sats.

So maybe we should also consider selling directly for an acceptable price in fiat? It seems there is considerable interest from buyers who want to support the EIAS project by buying SMLY, but they don't normally work the markets. If we can find supporters who want to buy&hold SMLY, maybe we should figure out a way to sell directly for fiat?

Comments are still welcome.

Hello Dev! Is there a working pool for production?
Hi! 'fraid not -- people are just solo mining from within their wallets still.

The pools have a problem with this coin because of the way we split the coinbase.

164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SMLY- smileycoin - for rewards in education on: January 28, 2018, 08:56:13 PM
Where else can I buy Smiley Coin apart from C-Cex? And what is the secrete behind the recent pump in price? Thanks for answer.
SMLY is (only) listed on c-cex and novaexchange. Neither one are fully functional at the moment , i.e. both are closed to deposits and at least c-cex is closed to new user registrations Sad

There are a few (non-traditional) alternatives. It is also possible to donate to a specific nonprofit, who will give SMLY as perks, but make sure you use only low amount since noone is guaranteeing anything in this case. Finally, a steemit article describes a SMLY ATM where you can send a complex LTC transaction to a LTC address which will send you SMLY back. This is highly experimental.

The recent increase in price coincides with three things: more Twitter activity (follow @smileycoinnews who tends to track all things SMLY), a new telegram account with very enthusiastic people (see invite above) and an extremely positive article in the Dutch Quote magazine (see Twitter). All in all, I have no idea whether we should call this a pump or increased interest -- probably a bit of both Smiley
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SMLY- smileycoin - for rewards in education on: January 28, 2018, 12:01:43 PM
You all know that 45% of the coinbase (new coins generated in each block) goes to Education in a Suitcase (EIAS). We have not yet decided how to handle this and I'd like to put something up for discussion.

Now, the SMLY premine is used for rewarding students (with an option of giving a bit to places which will enhance the use of SMLY). So EIAS does not have access to this.

EIAS are basically free to use their coins for whatever suits their needs, but of course it is understood that EIAS will not simply dump a billion coins on the market. On the other hand, if the price of SMLY goes up a bit then it is logical for EIAS to sell some of the donations.

An improvement on this is for EIAS to submit multiple sell offers (set ask price) in a range around a target. This will allow EIAS to reap some of the benefits of a surge in price, while also dampening surges, i.e. not allowing the price to go up 1000% in an hour.

The sales will be used to fund operations in Kenya and possibly also some development work, on software for EIAS servers/tablets, SMLY or the tutor-web.

So we need a discussion on how this can be done. I have a suggestion but am willing to be convinced of a different approach:

My suggestion is that we select a price or price range where it is considered appropriate for EIAS to sell some of the funds. To begin with, we can set a simple target such as 1 SMLY=10 Satoshi, when EIAS will sell if the price reaches this target.

Comments welcome.

I'm fully aware of C-Cex having a lot of issues lately, and with them ALL apparently being gone for a month didn't help any..

Be cautious before you send any SMLY to them right now with the price spike.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/smly/address.dws?BPiw7XeoXZ6ySEM2yW1t3sbV8AYwx2whaX.htm

The last 4 transactions here.. I sent 3k over, was never credited them, and now they're gone?

I created a new address and sent over another 1k..

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/smly/address.dws?B4bKKnWRWpcCd4bofW6Nc4T3SsqdSLezca.htm

Same thing. No credit, and now they're gone?

Interesting indeed!
Weird shit! Particularly the part where someone has clearly moved your deposit somewhere else!

There is a fair amount of discussion in their chat room: Nobody seems to be able to deposit anything properly - nothing shows up in the account.

25000000 x 4 - how do I set-up for dividends - thanks very much
Transfer each set to one address.

kudos to devs/admin

fast question... do we have a telegram group??
I do believe that SMLY need it..
till later  Wink

Very good idea indeed. Really hope that admin will take action immediately. Most of coins has their own telegram group as well. Am I right??
Anyone can set one up. See above.

Where can I buy the SMLY coin?

Both C-CEX and Novaexchange do not allow new users to register. Are there any viable options?

Thanks!

So this project is still alive. I will like to get some coin but I will like also to know the plans for this year. Maybe like roadmap so I can be more informed about the plans.

Then please, what is the maximum supply of this coin?

For basic info on the coin, take a look at the opening page: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=845761.msg9431919#msg9431919

Next, note that this thread is also where all decisions are made, so you will find all currently accepted plans discussed above. After acceptance here, decisions are put into the coin info page at https://tutor-web.info/smileycoin

More detail on the coin itself can be found in the Ledger paper, which should now be considered the whitepaper of this coin: http://ledgerjournal.org/ojs/index.php/ledger/article/view/103/84

Mining pool on site not working, who knows about another? Maybe solo is effective?
There is only solo mining at the moment.

As you will know, only c-cex is really open for trading at the moment and unfortunately c-cex does not allow withdrawals. They claim they will reopen for full business on Jan 20th. As usual, please be careful with your funds: It is NOT normal that they have not allowed withdrawals for a month.

You should follow the Twitter account @smileycoinnews where several announcements have been made on this topic and where to get SMLY.

If you really want to get SMLY into your own wallet right now, the easiest way to do this is to donate to Education in a Suitcase. They will give you some SMLY as perks.

Their donation page is http://bit.ly/EIASdonate

If you want to try this out, make sure that
  • You only use small amounts when you donate
  • You have installed a wallet and have access to a deposit address
  • You realise that you are on your own: This is a perk for a donation to a non-profit; it is not an ordinary sale
  • You really do realise that you are on your own: Officially, you are giving a donation!

There is no official price, as these are donation perks. That said, they do give you an amount proportional to your donation. They occasionally change the amount when the price changes a lot, as they e.g. don't want to cause dumps.

With all these caveats, feel free to try this out.

If you are feeling really adventurous, you may want to test the ATM  at http://bit.ly/SMLYatm but be warned that this is more involved  Smiley

I have SMLY from long long time on nove exch. Now I trying to instal wallet.
But I need minimum 25M coins to join the game?
The 25 M is just to get paid dividends. You can buy/hold/sell any amount you like.

So I need 25 M coins in my open 24/h wallet  to recived devidends ? What kind of divident ? how much?

so stupid will be keeping only 2M in wallet without staking rewards ?
The wallet does not need to be open (that's not how the blockchains work).

If an address has 25 M SMLY it will be paid 4500 SMLY dividends once it is the oldest untouched address. At the moment this happens about 3 times per day.

For detail look at this link: https://steemit.com/smileycoin/@gstefans/making-coins-from-coins-with-no-effort

Sorry if I missed the info somewhere but I wasn't able to determine the staking reward?

Is it a fixed % or does it vary?
Is it by the block or is it wallet weight vs. network weight?

Thanks Smiley
It's probably not what you'd normally call staking.

The coinbase is split 3 ways, one of these is dividends, 4500 SMLY per block.

If you have a wallet with an address which contains at least 25 M SMLY, then that address will get dividends once it becomes the oldest (untouched) such address.

There are about 150 such addresses right now. If they do not get otherwise modified, they just take turns getting the 4500.

The entire dividends for a block go to one address, changing its status from the oldest to the newest.

Interesting and thanks for the answer. This brings me then to yet another quick question. Do you have any idea how long it takes to cycle through those 150 addresses that get a 4500 SMLY dividend? I'm just trying to get some rough idea of how often the payout might occur...

Yes. There should be 480 blocks per day. So just over 3 dividend payments per day.

Wonderful so I can relate to that and some simple math tells me an address with 25 million might see a payout every 50 days or so. I love this coin and have very thoroughly checked it through and through. I got the wallet all synchronized now and will be heading to the exchange to buy a good chunk of it. If there is anything specific you need me to do to help out with the coin please let me know. Thanks for your input on these questions!

An address which has 25 million should get 4500 SMLY about 3 times per day.

Each block gives 4500 to one address on the rich list. There are 480 blocks per day (on average) and about 150 addresses, so each gets a payment about 3 times per day.

Note that this is not a function of the amount at the address other than it being at least 25 million. So it's not a traditional interest rate. If you own 50 million then you'll want to spread it onto 2 addresses, each with 25.

You're quite the joker :-)
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SMLY- smileycoin - for rewards in education on: December 27, 2017, 02:06:11 PM
People sometimes think this is another scam coin intended for pump schemes and getting rich quickly - and complain that it is still a low-value coin. I apologise for being abrupt sometimes, but I am a bit sensitive to this. The coin has a very clear purpose and this has been advertised again and again, here and elsewhere.

But there have been several developments and also a lot of new people, so let's go through this point by point. Most of this has been mentioned above or by @smileycoinnews on twitter, or in steemit articles, or in scientific papers, but here is a summary.

  • The coin was initially developed for rewarding students in a freely accessible and open educational system, the tutor-web
  • The coin is primarily for fun, not profit
  • The coin has survived since 2014  Smiley
  • There have been developments every year, most recently a brand new multi-algo wallet so you can solo-mine on a CPU
  • The coin implements a form of staking: If you hold 25 M SMLY in an address you will get dividends
  • All decisions are taken openly after discussion in this forum and usually also on twitter
  • This coin has a peer-reviewed scientific publication: http://bit.ly/SMLYledger
  • The coin has been used for many educational research projects, some of which have resulted in a PhD thesis: http://bit.ly/PhD-AHJ
  • Development of the coin has been funded as a part of several of these research projects
  • The coin may be primarily for fun, but it can certainly also be used as an investment
  • For this coin, the miners' fee is not the same as the coinbase
  • The coinbase is 10,000 SMLY per block and is split three ways
  • The miners' fee is now 1,000 SMLY per block
  • 4,500 SMLY from the coinbase are used for dividends
  • 4,500 SMLY from the coinbase are used to support the non-profit organisation Education in a Suitcase (EIAS)
  • Education in a Suitcase donates servers and tablets to schools in very low-income areas, primarily Kenya
  • The primary system on the servers (and tablets) is the tutor-web - designed to operate with unstable electricity and no Internet
  • In light of the coinbase, any investment in the coin is also support for Education in a Suitcase
  • One of the SMLY goals is to be able to pay the students in Kenya $1 per day in SMLY (not there yet)
  • A number of Steemit articles describe the SMLY, EIAS and tutor-web: https://steemit.com/@gstefans/
  • The coin is now a part of more projects than ever before: It will not go away!
  • If you want a long-term investment and support a good cause at the same time, then this is not bad, see http://bit.ly/SMLYinvest
  • If you want secure dividends, get 25M SMLY and keep them in one address. You will get SMLY dividends several times per day!
  • SMLY are also the easiest way to enter crypto: Just donate to EIAS and they will send you SMLY http://bit.ly/EIASdonate
  • Experimentation with SMLY is encouraged: You can now send text messages in the SMLY blockchain (see above)
  • Experiments include a SMLY ATM http://bit.ly/SMLYatm
  • Marketcap today (Dec 2017) is over 2 million USD -- not bad for a fun coin!!
  • A double-or-nothing game has been set up on the blockchain itself, as a proof-of-concept
  • A proposal has been made to use the SMLY block chain to announce atomic swaps
  • Some preliminary work on atomic swap announcements may be on the way: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2559322.msg26071572#msg26071572
  • More to come...

The Ledger paper listed above should now be the definitive source of information on the coin. We have tried to include absolutely everything of relevance in that paper.

In short, this coin is not going away, so it is a much lower-risk investment than most coins on coinmarketcap, but it is also not intended for quick profits.

(Edited several times to add stuff and make it a stand-alone note)
