161  Economy / Gambling / Re: I know how provably fair works but... on: December 16, 2015, 09:31:43 AM
To answer OP's question, There are different types/kinds of  "scripts/algo" one can use to generate a random seed, and most of the time, it varies from site to site, depending on how it was programmed by their dev. But nowadays, devs stick to what is "common" therefor you might see different sites that uses same algo to generate a random seed. But ofcourse it doesn't mean both site will have the same server seed, (tho there is a very very slim chance it could happen).

You can program a computer to generate a random number, but that program is and will always be at the mercy of its programming. So you cannot actually say that it has given you a random number because the fact is, its just following the sequence of how it is programmed, it generally starts with something then follows a pattern. Tho the complexity of the result is enough to be called random, its never truly random since it is just ruled by a consistently repeating algorithm. This are called "pseudo-random number generators" (PRNG). And most of the site uses this kind of way to generate their seeds.

So any script/algo programmed on a computer is always a PRNG? Answer is No.. One can generate a True Random Number Generator (TRNG) on a computer, this is by use of different kinds of entropy. Some uses a device that relies on thermal, noise or any unpredictable environmental elements that we as humans have no control over. And this can be called a true random number generator. Like ryan said, one can use /dev/random, which uses environmental noise. Another example is, Random.org, which they claim, uses atmospheric noise to generate a true randomness.

So the fact is, most sites uses PRNG? Yes. So there is a possibility to crack it? YES and NO. If we talk of possibility, then yes there is always a possibility of something, but the probability of that happening is so low. Like i said above, the complexity of the results of a PRNG is enough to be called random, therefore the chance to crack a single seed is so low that if compared, you'd have better chance of winning the lottery than trying to crack it in a lifetime.

thank you very much for taking the time to explain your knowledge in a more detailed way.

as I know you are a coder so if all depends on you regarding the provably fair implementation nothing bad can happen to your bank roll. but you know what happened to Magical Dice Sad how could they or any other non coder (like we) prevent this to happen?

In an online business, there is no 100% fool proof against this. Even big companies can get in trouble if their devs turn to rogue. But there are ways to prevent this. One example is a structural design of your system. One dev should only be assigned to a certain part of the system and not have access to everything. If the your system is project based, then one dev should have no access to the system at all once the project is finish.  Another is to hire a 3rd party security guy that will double check your site's code and integrity. There maybe other ways, but the fact is, it is doable.

But personally, my opinion is, an owner "MUST" atleast know the basic logic of his own system, you don't have to know how to code, but know how your system works is a must. Trust is a big word when it comes to this "pixelized" online world, but with proper preparation and strategy, an owner wont need this to have a successful site.

The issue with magicaldice is that, they hired a dev, and trusted the dev to run the site and have full access. When MD1 went live, the dev should no longer have access to their database, and only grant access to the dev on special occasions like fixing bugs etc..and then immediately revoke it once it is fixed. I know there maybe "holes" on my statement, but thats the basic. Owners already had this idea, what if their dev create an alt and play.. But they trusted their dev not to do it, which is totally wrong.

162  Economy / Gambling / Re: Can gambling sites deduct amounts in my account? on: December 16, 2015, 09:04:54 AM
They obviously can. They are the admins of the site and they can literally do anything.

They can do things a lot worse than deducting amounts from your account too.

and every admin wouldn't take a risk by changing everything without user permission, it would make them looks fool, risking valuable customer for something not important like that.
my question is there a gambling website that stored our password? how we can know they didn't do it?

Most gambling sites stores their users credentials, but if they follow the "rule of the thumb" it is stored in hashes or is encrypted on their database. Every site that allows you to register, and ask for username/password, stores them on their database.

Congrats on your win! As the Op has mentioned in the post, all the features of the website are not fully launched so I'm assuming the other games are still locked however we've to wait for the OP to reply.

Yes, other games are not yet launched, i'd have to squat some bugs first, before i go further on releasing other games.

Update**
-Fixed bets wherein player can bet at 99% or 1x multiplier.
-Fixed some minor bugs on chats
-Added colors to the Roll result numbers to show if its a win(green) or a lose(red)

i can't seem to replicate this issue. I tested the tables on mybets and all bets... it shows fine.

Ey uni,

With automatic betting the rolls are ordered by roll number but could you set the newest bet above. Now I have to scroll to see the results.

Also the numbers aren't good readable ;-). 0.00000001 goes well, 0.00000002 don't.

Roll # 2 Bet: 0.00000001 Bet result: 51.38=>You LOSE!
Roll # 3 Bet: 2.5e-8 Bet result: 44.65=>You WIN!
Ok, or maybe id just have it autoscrolled, and yeah ill fix the formatiing of the numbers. Thanks

Ok, we have finally fixed things up,  But tbh, i have been up for more than 24 hours trying to reach this deadline. And if i open it up now, i can't monitor the server for the first few hours of its opening. Having that said, we have reset the countdown to a good 12hour period, to give me sometime to rest up.

Tho in my previous post i assured you that it will be open today, i would have to break that assurance, =( Im just realy tired atm. But like they say, good things comes to those who wait ..

So again sorry for the delay, and we reset the count down to 12hours. We might be up even before that time frame. Thank you again for understanding.

Just a heads up.. I tested the site for small amount.

Then they lock my account, i can cashout, they said they have 9+ btc in investment, But i cant even cashout 0.01 btc..  So after sometimes, i came back to see if i can cashout, and to my surprise, i tried to talk on chat, and it says, i was banned by Mod. lol

Posted a screenshot, with my account and balance, I used a second account just to chat on their system.

Im sorry for the delay guys, upon double checking we found some major bugs within our websockets, and we are working double time to fix this. And if i say "we" thats means just me and my brother. I hope you guys understand, we just want want to launch something that is atleast working fine, and not just launch something that would make more problems.

We built the site from scratch, and not just copy and paste some untitled-dice script, we also maintained our own socket server instead of using the ones  moneypot uses. But i do assure you that we will open up the beta in few hours or minutes, and i will be needing you guys to help me snipe these bugs.

Our site may not be perfect for everyone, bugs can occur here and there, but for me that's a good thing to start with, a good foundation to learn new things, to meet new friends, and ofcourse to have fun. I will see you guys soon. ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿'̿'\̵͇̿̿\з= ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) =ε/̵͇̿̿/’̿’̿ ̿ ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿̿

uhmm it still shows me the same plain coming soon picture with timer on zeros please fix it it looks pretty interesting and i would like to try it out as soon as possible
Wait what do you mean about "You can claim some free bits while waiting for our Beta Launch" ? I have logged in to my moneypot account and clicked on faucet to give a shot how the site works but nothing happened why?
Do you really it's already tested and work? Because on me it's didn't work.

Could you try again? Its a minor bug on chrome. but i think its fixed now.

The website faucet now is working, (before it not worked on safari browser) , but is moneypot faucet only 200 satoshis every 5 minutes. I will come tomorrow to see your games.
Thanks, and yes you can claim 2bits every 5mins, with or without a balance, that means you can stack them up.

Congrats to unibtc for launching his own project finally. I wish you good luck with this and hope to see good things from you in the future
Thank you.  Grin

i can see and feel dadice when i visited the site, anybody feels the same?
Same here, very weird that the design is almost exactly the same.
I guess time will tell whether they affiliated with dadice in any way.

They used a ready-made bootstrap theme based design.. similar to dadice, there many bootstrap templates out there that looks the same.

I was on my way on releasing my app under moneypot, but because of the sudden auction, i had to pause it for awhile and see where it goes. Now that its over,i have some few questions:
-will there be any changes once the transfer has begun?
-will it be same API?
-do we have to register an account again and create a new app?
- most app uses socketpot for their chat ( tho my app doesnt), will it still be available?
-is there any change on the commision for the app owners?

Thanks,
uni
