161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: August 27, 2015, 12:14:24 AM
Anyone tried to invest in BitMixer to grow their coin ?
I haven't tried investing in Bitmixer, but if you're looking at investing in other sites take a look at Just-Dice as well. However, I think you'd probably be able to make more money if you offered out loans here on the site, that's a decent way to grow small amounts of bitcoin by 5 to 10% per week, depending on how many loans you hand out and the interest rates. I suspect investing in Bitmixer, Just-Dice or other bitcoin sites would grow your bitcoin very slowly, but fairly steadily.
162  Other / Meta / Re: Is "account farming" frowned upon. on: August 26, 2015, 10:04:22 PM
I created this account to sell to somebody when it hits gets close to hitting Full Member status, then sell it to a newbie who want to get a higher paying signature campaign position. I don't plan to post much from this account so it may be a year's time. I do not plan to use this account with signature campaigns.

It's going to take you 4 and a half months and 120 posts to get to Full Member and they currently go for around 0.1 maybe even less by then because more will inevitably come onto the market as time goes on, so is it really worth it? If you have a Senior account you can get 0.1 for 50 posts so you're likely just wasting your time.
Basically this. Unless you're living in a third world country and this is one of the few ways to make some money, account farming is a massive waste of time with little compensation. You'd make probably ~ 0.15 BTC from selling a Senior account ($35 USD) and that would probably take ~ 160 to 170 hours to do so, so you'd be making 20 cents an hour for your work. A year or so ago I've heard it was more profitable, but with account prices as low as they are it really isn't worth it at this point.

It's also a poor idea to tell people that you plan to sell a certain account. Often when you do so people will either leave neutral or negative reputation on the account. If a negative rating is left from a trusted member, the account is basically worthless.
163  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: brainwallet.io on: August 26, 2015, 09:47:21 PM
UPDATE

A random 12-word passphrase generator has been added to brainwallet.io.  It selects words from a list of 1,626 memorable words in a cryptographically random manner.  This is a similar process to what Electrum uses for wallet seeds.

Humans are known to be poor entropy sources when it comes to generating random words.  This should be a useful functionality for people who have doubts in the security of their passphrase.

Remember to always write down your passphrase!

Is brainwallet.io using the same word list as Electrum, or do you have a public copy of the wordlist you're using if you're using a different list?
164  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Its time for the campaign runners to raise your pathetic rates on: August 24, 2015, 09:23:30 PM
Note: If bitcoin drops constantly below $200 I think would be a time to re-evaluate the rates.

Agree to this. Looks like I will agree with the TS now if bitcoin price continue to drops. Campaign managers must consider this now for future purposes because of current drop rates.
It's been mentioned before though - the signature campaign market is all supply and demand. Since there are lots of accounts willing to post at current pay rates, why would campaigns raise their payments? They'd be getting the same amount of advertising, but paying more for no real benefit.

If you really want to protest the rates of signature campaigns, then don't join a campaign. If less people joined campaigns, I suspect campaigns would either raise their rates, or just end the campaign. But you have to think about the advertiser - why would you raise pay rates by 10% or 20% for no benefit in web traffic? Doesn't make sense to them if the campaign is going well for them already.

@wakasaki808

I am in the US. I have no way to weigh this item.
According to Amazon this card should weigh ~ 3 pounds when shipped out.

166  Economy / Lending / Re: I need a loan .35 btc on: August 23, 2015, 10:04:10 PM
Yes i have gsy 4500   and i have 52000 tennet  orange coin 5000.  yovi 23689 and my account  plus 23500 ams coins
I did some quick calculations and those coins are worth more than your loan request amount. Try asking in this thread and maybe Quickseller will loan you, since he accepts stable altcoins as collateral. (however, I'm not sure how stable all of those alts are)
167  Economy / Lending / Re: I need a loan .35 btc on: August 23, 2015, 09:36:50 PM
Any kind of collateral? People won't loan you without collateral, or a repayment date, or the interest percentage, etc. Plus you have no previous trades here, so some sort collateral would be a good idea for this loan. Also, keep in mind your account isn't worth 0.35 BTC, so if you plan to use that as collateral, expect to only receive a maximum loan of ~ 0.15 BTC or so.
168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: At the botton of the window says "No source of blocks available". is normal? on: August 23, 2015, 05:38:39 PM
How long have you had Bitcoin Core open for? That message just means that it isn't currently connected to any nodes to download the blockchain from. If you let it run for a few more minutes it should connect to some nodes and start downloading.
169  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BitcoinTalk User Account Assessment on: August 23, 2015, 05:33:48 PM
I ran into the same problem as RustyNomad. I've been waiting 15-20 minutes now for the account assessment and it's still saying to check back in four minutes.
170  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: XTnodes.com - Under attack ? on: August 23, 2015, 02:49:31 PM
I was able to load it up perfectly fine about 10 minutes ago, but right now I don't even get a cached version of the site, the site just won't load at all for me.

Edit: To just add, it loaded up fine for me in the Toronto area.
171  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos needs to check an IP addy for my life's been official threatened via PM. on: August 23, 2015, 01:47:11 AM
I might be wrong on this but I'm pretty sure threats aren't illegal unless that person who made the threat has the means to carry it out
Depends where you live. Here in Canada it is illegal to utter threats that would harm a person, damage property, or that would harm someone's animal. I suspect there are similar laws across the US and in parts of Europe as well.

However, I wouldn't take this "threat" seriously. I haven't read about this Fodor individual before, but I wouldn't be taking the message sent to the OP seriously.
172  Other / Meta / Re: Ban duration/length on: August 23, 2015, 01:31:52 AM
If the ban of 10 days was doubled to 20 days and began on the day of the evasion then it is well past 20 days now.
Had a 20 day ban started on the first of this month then it would be over now but it actually started before the end of last month.

Any suggestions?

Like I mentioned before, the account was probably permabanned, meaning it will never be unbanned.

However, wait for BadBear to post in this thread (he should post in here if he sees this thread) and he should be able to tell you exactly how long the ban is.
173  Other / Meta / Re: Ban duration/length on: August 23, 2015, 12:16:57 AM
If the user was posting under other accounts while their main account was banned, I suspect that their account was perma-banned and they're not welcome back on the website. You're not allowed to post outside of the Meta section on any account, if one of your accounts is currently banned.
174  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Free Bitcointalk Forum Account Potential Activity Counter Bot on: August 22, 2015, 08:41:38 PM
Just tried this one and work flawlessly on my localhost.
maybe devs can add text animation while this bot counting the potential activity (like loading... / progressing...)
I thought this bot did not work because no sign while counting
Adding onto what Lannister mentioned, if someone does want to implement something like this, this project would probably be of use when trying to implement such a feature. It mentions what page of posts the bot is on currently when calculating the account's value, so it's definitely doable.
175  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Sr.Member .6btc on: August 22, 2015, 03:17:21 AM
the account is near to turn to hero member and its a free market.
Although it is a free market, if you want to actually sell this account you'd lower the price to the going rate for Senior accounts ( ~0.15 to 0.18 BTC). Even well established Hero accounts rarely go for 0.6 BTC, they usually sell in the 0.4 to 0.55 BTC range.
176  Other / Meta / Re: Keeping it at one trust rating per person? on: August 21, 2015, 01:44:37 PM
Here theymos explains the new system to calculate the trust rating: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1066857.0

The 2 important points regarding this are:
  • Only the first feedback of every person counts.
  • For every trusted positive feedback a user gets 1 point every month, up to 10 points per rating.

So if you left a positive trust 5 months ago then you're giving 5 points to that user. If you delete your rating and add a new one then it's reset to 0 and he will have to wait 5 more months to be where it was. If you leave a new rating it won't affect the overall rating at all, however of course it will affect how it looks when opening the feedback.

Considering this what I do most of the times is limiting myself to 2 trusts per user. I never delete my first one (unless something important happens like not trusting that user anymore). If one more deal happens I leave a second rating, and if even more (considerable/important) deals happen in the future I delete that 2nd rating and create a new one mentioning all our trades except the first one. This way I don't affect the user's overall rating and limit it to 2 to avoid cluttering.

So if I were to change his to a neutral or delete and re add he drops 10 points? I think I dropped around that many points iirc.
If you left your rating on his profile more than 10 months ago, yes he would drop 10 points.
177  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Negative Trust Account ..? on: August 20, 2015, 08:48:38 PM
May I ask - why are you looking to buy negative rep accounts? They're mostly used by scammers and cheaters and they command no respect from the users on the forums - why would you want to buy them?
He probably wants to use it for signature campaigns. Negative accounts usually sell for really cheap (A negative Senior probably sells for less than 0.03 BTC compared to a neutral Senior selling for ~ 0.15 BTC) but there are some campaigns that accept them and pay decent rates to negative trusted users as well.
178  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: EZHashing TRUSTED miner rentals for all! on: August 20, 2015, 05:30:13 PM
Fair enough, sounds good.

One more question though. In this post you mention that your company is running S5's and S4's. However, on your site it says that you're using S1's instead - what happened to the S5's and S4's?
We decided to start with s1's because they were cheaper for us, and we aren't paying for power so it just seemed like the right way to go.

I can see us switching over to s4's in the future, and possibly adding scrypt miners
That doesn't add up with what you previously said though. You said "We are using Antminer s5's, and quite a few s4's" implying that you're currently using those miners. But now there's no mention of using either the S5 or the S4, so I'm wondering what you did with those?
179  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: EZHashing TRUSTED miner rentals for all! on: August 20, 2015, 05:22:21 PM
Im waiting for my go-pro to come in the mail so i can take some hi-def pics of the actual miners. we only have 10-15 right now because theres no need for more.
On your site there's the following line: "These are pictures of our miner. It may seem small right now, but we are only renting out >30"

Is that a typo, or are you saying that you rent out over 30 miners, yet you only own 10 to 15?

Also, if you were able to snap a picture of that single miner why not use the same camera to take a picture with all the miners in it, and then take a new one with your new camera? I think a lower resolution image would be good to have while you're waiting for a better camera, at least it shows that you do indeed own 10-15 miners.
that is a typo, its supposed to say we are renting less than 30, and ill snap a picture of my 15 when i get home, and we only had 2 when that picture was posted..

Give me a few hours and ill update the site
