161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if ETH survives? on: July 13, 2016, 08:00:20 PM
If ethereum will survive well i think the safe that i can instead of investing again with bitcoin better to mine ethereum for safety..
Do you think ethereum still affected from the dai issue?

The initial cost of setting up the Etheruem mining is quite high, you also need some skills to do that.

The Ethereum mining difficulty is still rising. That means a lot of investment in the mining facility. People are very confident about the Ethereum.
162  Economy / Speculation / Re: 10 BTC. Will I be a millionaire by 2030? on: July 13, 2016, 07:57:07 PM
In 2030 a million bucks will probably buy you a 1 bedroom apartment in Detroit. So it is highly likely that 10 BTC will make you a millionaire.

I think differently. The bitcoin price will be $1 million dollar each in 2030. That is today's dollar values.
163  Economy / Speculation / Re: 10 BTC. Will I be a millionaire by 2030? on: July 12, 2016, 07:03:59 AM
It will depend on the value of bitcoin at that time, and the value of bitcoin depend on our interest and our support, so if we support bitcoin and use this currency for at least our online use then I think at that time we will be millionaire .

The value of bitcoin will be at least $100,000 each in 14 years at today's dollar value. If the dollar devalue further, the price could be higher.

I also think the bitcoin price will be $100,000 or higher. If there are more people using it, like 5%  world population, it will be higher.
of course the price is going to be even higher than that because in my opinion all the people will be buying it when the price will start to be pumped, i hope i will make money

When the price is pumped, many people will be attracted to the bitcoin, the price could be higher. But too much pump is bad.
164  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sell my stocks buy bitcoin... on: July 12, 2016, 07:02:42 AM
Bitcoin heading back down to $500 in my opinion  Grin

Not necessary. The price of bitcoin will trade between $550 to $750 in the next 2 to 4 months or longer.
165  Economy / Speculation / Re: Be sure, this will drop hard soon... and here is why... on: July 12, 2016, 07:01:35 AM
I think the Bitcoin's price will reach the 1000$ after some weeks, it's volatile now, but for the long run i think the price will rise highly, as the halving happened.

I do not think the price will be $1000 in a few weeks. The price could be $1000 in a few months at least.

100 BTC? 0.00000001 BTC? Nah... extremes are not for me.

What do you guys think?

Nobody knows for sure.. What you get from opinions are pure speculations because in these time, people are patronizing bitcoin (even me, I love collecting bitcoins now). However, we should not put all of our assets in 1 basket, we must diverse so that in the event bitcoin will fall, you still up because you have other investments.

Maybe you will be a millionaire with 10BTC by 2030 or BTC will have no value when that time comes, nobody really knows.

Quite not sure but if you track the price of Bitcoin back, the possibility is very slim.  But as I said there is a possibility since we can't predict the future.  My speculation will be, if Bitcoin fail to adopt the advance feature of some altcoin, it will be no value at all.  And if ever a government is about to adopt cryptocurrency, Im sure they won't touch Bitcoin.

If the number of users increase due to good user experience and the bitcoin user number increase to 100 million, it is possible.
168  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sell my stocks buy bitcoin... on: July 07, 2016, 07:38:41 AM
Yeah sell you stock to buy more Bitcoins because Bitcoin is the better investment of the two if you really want to make money.
You will have to be patient with Bitcoin but that does not matter because you are going to make money.
Yeah bitcoin is unpredictable and also the price of bitcoin is increase because its always depends in demand and supply.. block halving is coming and our supply will be decrease more and i think we are also increasing population using bitcoin so the price should be rise more price will come in the future and more people are using bitcoin..

If the block size is 2MB or higher, and the transaction confirmation is faster, there will be more users.

What's the actual plan for the fork?  Are they just freezing and returning funds to old owners?  This means loads of eth dumps. They should just cut off the rotten limb and burn the lot.  Id say its the only shot they have at saving eth.

I heard that there will be no soft fork to freeze the coins due to a buy. There will be just a hard fork.

So after all that drawn out debacle, they still had to opt for the hard fork? If they were gonna end up here, why not cut straight to the chase? It seems like they are drawing out what will be the obvious decision.

Soft fork is good for the Ethereum as it freeze the 3.6 million ethereum. Hard fork will return the 3.6 m to DAO holders.

https://blog.slock.it/proposed-hard-fork-specification-394245b968dd#.vaa0n7h7m
is this why price is falling?
not sure if I understand correctly but if I traded ether for DAO in last two weeks of ICO, I get no DAO after HF?
"1. Token holders who created tokens during the last 2 weeks of the creation period"
are they kidding ?

Sounds like a suboptimal solution to me.

Thats acceptable in this case. Its because the dao price rose during the last 2 weeks, thats why their share is worth (a little) less. It's like you buy something in a bubble, what they did...

Will there be a vote for the hard fork? I know there was a vote for the soft fork and majority voted for.
171  Economy / Speculation / Re: 10 BTC. Will I be a millionaire by 2030? on: July 06, 2016, 12:33:45 PM
Yeah 10BTC will make you millionaire by 2030, there is still so many years left to reach that price because bitcoin has amazing potential to get more higher value and could get increased to 1000x than to its current price.

then what if the future price the same as it is now? maybe if the price increases I think the range of $1k-2k

I think 10 BTC is still lacking, you need at least 50-100 bitcoin or more to be a millionaire.

The $1-2k range you are referring to might not happen right after the event.

It might settle in for about 2-3 months or maybe a bit longer.

It took 6 years to get our $400 price zone last time I checked before this halving scenario.

Having will raise the price to $800. Only the mass adoption of the bitcoin and increase number of users will increase the price further.

There is a white hat attack. It seems most coins are secured.

See the date, see the notice.

https://np.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/4p9z93/it_seems_attacker_just_targeted_the_whitehatdaos/d4j7ldn

fun  Grin Grin Grin

and yeah OP, i agree with you. but the main point of making jokes with these is the fact that people still buy ethereum... even with that said in this topic people still belive... that's not hope, that stupidity.

That is old news. Today we have the hard fork:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/4r9yud/the_current_hf_status/?st=iq9k6bus&sh=d4303e35

From what I see there, most people support the hard fork. So maybe the hard fork will be implemented.

The problem is that if the DAO holders get back their Ethereum, they might dump the coin immediately.
174  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sell my stocks buy bitcoin... on: July 06, 2016, 12:30:00 PM
OP did you end up selling anything?   US stocks have been on a tear as of late, and the whole brexit thing seems to have not mattered in the least.   Then again, bitcoin has also been booming.  It is indeed tough to decide where to put your investment dollars.

OP still has a few days to go before executing the second part of his strategy.
We still have to see how bitcoin's price moves around the time of the halving.

I will just buy the bitcoin when the price is below $630 and and sell when the price is over $680. It will trade within the range.
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if ETH survives? on: July 04, 2016, 07:47:20 PM

Buy BTC or other alts which haven't gone up $1 billion.
though i think those alts might never happen to reach such market cap any time soon most probably and it wouldnt make you a lot of money in the future i think though thats just my opinion

i think i would buy some ethereum then in order to make some big profit in the future if ethereum will start growing at a really rapid pace, in this way i would manage to make some good money i think

If the Ethereum does survive after the DAO crisis, that will be because of the big community support, the price will rise a lot.

The Ethereum has a very good community. The price is still over $10 after the DAO crisis. If it survives, the price will be $50.

https://blog.colony.io/why-a-post-hard-fork-ethereum-will-be-more-valuable-abc35bbf6e98#.totpdos4h

What a great article, I hope the etherium developers and etherium community take this onboard. And will serve to help those who are unsure about how things stand and possible outcomes. And the far greater scope not stopping a theft like this would incur. For those with some understanding having a simple etherium fork is such an easy, clear and absolutely has to be done known fact.

Ya, that was a great read, thanks for the share!

Let's not worry about the hard fork. We need a soft fork first.

Is there a plan to release the soft fork very soon?
177  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sell my stocks buy bitcoin... on: July 04, 2016, 07:44:15 PM
Two weeks later re buy..?

You are Legendary member. Have you not bough any bitcoin before? Maybe it is time for you to sell stock to buy bitcoin?
178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Who will be the next victim for Vitalik to dump his Ethereum IPO scamtokens on? on: July 04, 2016, 07:40:46 PM
Vitalik now picking fights with people on twitter over "chinese bitcoin miners". I think it's totally out of place.

Also @OP: what did you expect? "Developement" needs to be funded, right?
Just hope he doesn't dump the rest on the inevitable decline.
That leg down will be so violent, i can feel it coming in already.

Not only the investors, but also the miners will lose a lot of money if the Ethereum goes belly up. The mining investment increase a lot recently.

So the miners will also be the supporters of the Ethereum because they have the vested interest in it?

I think so. If the Ethereum is dead, they will have no coin to mine at present. All other coins are too small.
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which GPU to purchase with $200 for Ethereum mining? on: July 04, 2016, 07:38:19 PM
From the information we gathered so far from the 480 RX mining ,it seems that 470 RX could be good for Eth mining.

If the 470 memory can be overclocked to 2250MHz or higher, its performance could match that of the 480.

That could be true as the memory speed is the bottle neck for the 480. But when the 470 is available, it might not be profitable to mine.

If the mining difficulty is just 40% more than now, it is still profitable to mine, but the margin is very tight.
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Radeon released RX 480. (Card is Released) on: July 01, 2016, 10:08:14 AM
I think the 480 RX's power input configuration is a failure. It should use the 8 pin power input like the Nano.

After what I've been reading, I'm inclined to agree with this.

I'm considering returning the 4 I purchased and waiting for the Sapphire Nitro as it has an 8-pin connector.

Bad news

It is still 6 pin. I was excited but we have to wait for AMD to fix the drivers or for Saphire to fix the card completely

In the next few days, we will see the reduction of network hash rate as the new 480 RX will burn may motherboards and PSU.

Got all my rig with powered usb risers. Works like a charm. No overheating wires/ burned connecters or other stuff. But the stock coolers sucks horrible balls. I guess i will move my rig to the garage and turn the fans to 100%. 60% coolers with 81 temp in open rig is not nice at all. 24.8 mh/s stock hash rate by the way.

Do you use the 6 USB risers coming out of 2 PSU cables, or 3 USB per power cable? That is almost the limit of each cable.
