161  Economy / Economics / Re: What would happen if Bitcoin became a legal currency? on: August 27, 2016, 09:40:23 PM
Legal currency.  All the currencies that I know of, the fiat ones, are tied to government.  How would bitcoin become one of those?  I don't think that's possible, but what is possible is if a government developed a blockchain based coin to use as their own fiat currency.  And that would suck for bitcoin.
162  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dump or long term goals? on: August 27, 2016, 09:35:06 PM
You're on a forum that's pretty much full of greedy people, so OP your not alone by any stretch.

I don't consider myself an *overly* greedy person, but I aspire toward being wealthy.  To that end, I think bitcoin has very good upside potential and my goal is to accumulate right now.  If OP got in at $200, he's very fortunate, but I still think buying now at $565 isn't a bad idea.
163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin moved above $10,000 USD per coin what would you do? on: August 26, 2016, 03:38:29 AM
Crying in my beer, crying in my sleep.  But that's a big 'what if'.  Right now I'm focusing on earning enough IRL to actually buy enough coin so that IF the day comes when bitcoin is $10,000, I can see about buying a farm with enough seeds and space for a nuclear fallout shelter, and I'll commence prepping for the end.  After that, it's going to be all about guns, precious metals, pharmaceuticals, and medical skills.

But yeah, till then I'm still loving bitcoin.  Smiley
164  Other / Off-topic / Re: Way to get bitcoin..!! on: August 26, 2016, 03:34:54 AM
faucets - Complete waste of time if you can work for more than a buck/hour
web mining or cloud mining - most of them are scam
hardware mining - need serious $$$$
 pools - need hardware = $$$$
Solving captcha - available for fiat and bitcoin. You will earn maximum a buck/hour
 Watching videos - maximum a buck/hour
 Doing tasks - maximum a buck/hour
Online jobs - skill depending, freelancer.com is for you or fiverr.com
Trading - skill depending could make you money
 Investing etc etc...
This is a great example of a thread that needs closing by the mods.  OP's question was answered completely and accurately in the above post.

I'd like to also emphasize that doing faucets might be fun, but it's an awful waste of time if you're actually trying to earn bitcoin.  The easiest, safest, and probably best way to earn is via signature campaigns.  Unfortunately a lot of the newbies who join them end up actually having to work and have nothing to say.  It ends up in posts that are short or complete garbage.  OP has probably figured out how to proceed by now, seeing how old this thread is.

Watch out for trading.  If you don't know what you're doing, you can get into a lot of trouble very quickly.
165  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain is charging high fees - $0.25 for sending 1 Bitcoin transfer on: August 26, 2016, 03:31:19 AM
$0.25 as a miner fee for sending $575 worth of bitcoin?  That sounds reasonable to me, unless you mean something else.  I've paid higher fees to send less bitcoin in the past using Android wallets.  What you described doesn't sound all that high.
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many coins needed for success? on: August 26, 2016, 03:29:01 AM
I see from over on the rimbit.com forum (see link http://www.rimbit.com/threads/decreasing-the-amount-of-rimbit-in-circulation.5996/#post-13149) that they are going to burn the excess coins that were created.  Some 392,380,976 RBT were initially made and it seems to be far too much.

Apart from the obvious, what do you think is a reasonable number of coins to have?  (The obvious being zero from all those who are not into it!)  I am not just thinking of Rimbit here but any coin - what is too many and what is too few?
good concept but no matter what you do, its doomed.
ther are shitcoins that are doing much better like https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=719019.0 and they have 111 pages of commenting.
your coin has what??? 2 pages after how many years?  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Agree with this 100%.  I don't know anything about rimbit, but I don't know anything about TRUMP, CC, blibbityblah, and all the other crap ones you see trading on the shady exchanges.  They are doomed.  You could probably trim rimbit to ONE coin and it still wouldn't hold its value.  No one is using these, and I would be more than happy if they were all "burned".
167  Economy / Services / Re: Is it possible to hire someone to post messages in an account for you? on: August 26, 2016, 03:22:01 AM
Hello,
I want to know if it is possible to hire someone from here, to post some messages in another account with a signature campaign, and be paid less than the signature campaign reward per post.
It's like a worker for you.
That is possible?

Its possible but i think this idea would be discouraged by mods and dt people, and also its very risky for your side since your account might get compromise and we don't know how people you hired post accurately to make your account remain safer and theirs a risk that your account will be used for scamming, loaning and anything bad you can imagine thats why better think twice if you do that,
I agree, it would certainly be discouraged and definitely frowned on, but I don't think it's grounds for a ban or even censure.

My question is, why would anyone agree to do this?  It would make more sense for someone to buy an account here, make the investment up front, and then earn the normal rate from a campaign.  What the OP is suggesting sounds like what someone with multiple disconnected neurons would find attractive as a business opportunity.
168  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you do with your btc? on: August 26, 2016, 03:19:43 AM
Its a currency to me and what do you think ? what would i do with it ? i do any thing with it Cheesy
I haven't exactly read this entire thread, but it seems that a good number of bitcoiners do absolutely nothing with their coins, and I would put myself in this category as well.  The number of places where you can actually buy something priced in bitcoin is extremely small, and the items are very limited.  Dell and some of the tech places are excluded from that, and Overstock.com.  Me?  I'm just holding on, waiting for the price to explode.  The $560 we're at is just primed and ready to take off to $1000.
169  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTB] jr.member account's on: August 26, 2016, 03:16:46 AM
will pay up to 0.003 btc depends on your activity
still low, jr.member 0.01-0.02 Smiley
You must be joking, sir.  It takes very little to rank up to a Jr. Member, and very few people are going to pay even 0.1 for that.  There's just no reason to.  And not that I condone doing this.  I think account farming is a despicable practice suited only for charlatans and knaves.
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What makes a cryptocurrency (alt coin) valuable? on: August 24, 2016, 04:48:10 AM
People have answered it just as well, but I'd say it's consensus that gives anything value.  Two or more parties agreeing some intangible altcoin has value gives it a price.   And it's pretty much as simple as that.
171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The ‘Bitcoin Family’ One Year Later on: August 22, 2016, 01:56:21 AM
This is novel, but it sort of reminds me of  that guy who tried living solely from things he ordered off the internet, not leaving his house for a year, or the other person who webcammed every room in his house...novel, but really proves little.
172  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: nimirum disappeared on: August 22, 2016, 01:41:21 AM
That is really bad news for signature campaigns. This means that anyone can start one and then not pay the members that don't know who to trust and doesn't know what escrow is about at all.
That's a shame because I think they had 100 members who signed up and was part of that one.
Sure, anyone can start one, but no one has a gun to your head to sign up for one.  Personally I wouldn't join any of these new coin campaigns.  More than one has ended in a scam, if I'm not mistaken.   Squallcoin, candlecoin, and probably some others.  It's too damn risky that they're going to end up with free advertising.
173  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does anyone here give trading tips to friends? on: August 22, 2016, 01:10:24 AM
Nope, and it's bad advice in general to do that for friends, much like lending a friend money or selling him a car.  Money and business strain personal relationships,  and giving altcoin tips?  That is very risky, and your friend will NOT be happy when poopcoin X goes to nothing and his entire bankroll is gone.
174  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your reason to gamble? Fun or profit? on: August 22, 2016, 01:04:42 AM
Don't do it very often, but the dice games kind of take on a life of their own after a while.  Start out trying to have some fun, then it becomes about making, then about not losing,  all my money.  I don't think gambling should be all about making money.   Go to medical or law school if you want to do that.
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ima little drunk tonight and I have 3 more btc to invest in alts. But which ones on: August 21, 2016, 05:34:26 AM
My suggestion: get sober and hodl that bitcoin before you end up doing anymore stupid things with it.  I know it's the altcoin section here, but dayyym.  That's a lot of bitcoin that you could end up losing.
176  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Position between traders and markets on: August 20, 2016, 05:10:04 AM

and this is why we keep seeing price swings in bitcoin and much bigger price swings in altcoins, because there are so many novice traders in cryptocurrency trading that a simple and smallest manipulation can cause a lot of havoc and then the panic selling starts.

Yes. I think it's far too small to attract the absolute trading titans, but if they took a closer look their mouths would start to water.

Unregulated, 24/7, and filled with minnows who've probably never traded anything else in their entire lives who are also seemingly willing to be scammed and have a penchant for emotional attachment to their shitcoin.

That's nirvana for someone with the right mindset.
Well said, sir.  I have seen far too many credulous suckers here go full GAGA over what turns out to be a steaming bowl of turds.  It just never gets old, but then you'll get the threads crying "scam!" when everyone should have known that from the beginning.
177  Other / Off-topic / Re: Old people earning bitcoins on: August 18, 2016, 03:46:49 AM
45's not old.  I think there are plenty of people on this forum in their 40s and above.  But if youre talking senior citizen age, 65 and up...not that many, though earning money through sig campaigns wouldn't be a bad idea.  The average senior citizen doesn't know anything about bitcoin, so that's not likely.
178  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: On exchanges is it cheaper? on: August 17, 2016, 03:26:54 AM
That's one of the good things about exchanges like Yobit & Poloniex (and Cryptsy before they died) is the percentage as a fee.  It's good for people who only can buy a small amount, because with things like stock brokerages, a flat fee of $7/trade will kill you if you're only buying $40 worth of stock.  I think it's beneficial for bitcoiners with not so much money.
179  Economy / Speculation / Re: Expect Bitcoin Price to Reach US$1,200 or More Next Year on: August 15, 2016, 09:02:56 PM
The Bitcoin's price will increase to about 1000$ in the end of this year, i think. So it's not impossible that it reach 1200$ or more the next year, and it will be highly profitable for the holders.

We're falling lower and lower, what makes you think people can keep up thinking the price will reach $1000 by the end of this year? When the price reached nearly $800 in June, I could understand that people were having a fantasy about reaching $1000, but right now it's not likely anymore.
No it's highly unlikely,  but this forum, like the world of bitcoin users in general,  is full of dreamers.   I don't know if that's a bad thing or not, but it seems to me that we ought to be realistic about this.  The halving brought us close to $700, and we've dropped significantly since then.  $1200 and above is a long ways away.  And those predictions quoted by OP were worthless like a lot of predictions turn out to be.
180  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: URGENT [WTS] 53.5$ BTC [WTB] PAYPAL on: August 15, 2016, 08:02:03 PM
hi guys,I just need some paypal for my btc,I need this asap, please pm me fast
I can show proofs that I own some btc
That's fine.  You have a lot of offers here, including mine.   Are you going to do any business or are you just here to fluff everyone?   I'm willing to trade, but you made the thread and ought to respond.
