Don't rely on fact checking websites (and mainstream media). DYOR is still the best practice since the paper usually available on the internet. Don't use research paper as the bible with utmost truth, since many things can influence the research. Funding is one of it. You still have to trust the integrity of the researchers, and the validity and reliability of the instruments. And don't think that when you don't have the degree, you cannot ask questions.

There are two types of "misinformation" (1) Baseless claim obvious false information, and (2) Dissenting/opposing views. It's safe to put (1) into the trash can, but I encourage you to dig (2) for more useful insight.
Fact checking websites link to the research and studies that have been done on the subject. If you cannot trust peer reviewed studies then any research you do will not be valid and you could only judge it on face value. Studies are peer reviewed to stop corruption and bias in the research. If we could not trust peer reviewed research a lot of our facts and science today would be obsolete. I think research which is peer reviewed is better than me and you looking at data that we do not understand and coming to our own conclusion because at least with the researchers they are qualified and know how to interpretate the data.
162  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin vs Altcoins on: August 18, 2021, 11:48:30 PM
As what the above keep telling, OP should not dump all of the altcoins because diversification is still important. It is to minimize the risk of losing everything in one go. So it's better to hodl the remaining altcoins that you think has a better chance to gain profit in the future like Ethereum or BNB.

But it's not bad just to hold Bitcoin if that's what you wish for although, holding only one crypto won't be sustainable I think because what if Bitcoin price goes down then the altcoins price rises where do you think you would trade when you are only holding Bitcoin at the moment.
Ethereum follows Bitcoin's movements look at the history of Bitcoin and Ethereum and you will see that when Bitcoin increases in price so does Ethereum and the same for the opposite market direction. All other altcoins are not worth investing in the only one that is the exception is Ethereum and like I say that follows the ups and downs of Bitcoin.
163  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Work Smarter, not Harder: How to Earn Passive Income with Cryptocurrency on: August 18, 2021, 11:45:40 PM
You are spreading what could be dangerous information. I would not trust any Bitcoin service that is promising to give you interest on your deposits. This makes sense with fiat and banks because they reinvest your money and you sign up to their service allowing them to use your money for that. I do not know how this service advertised does it but they will either use your Bitcoin and trade it to make more money which could go wrong or they are promising something they will not be able to sustain. Stay away from services promising interest. There is no way that this service called Hodlnaut will be able to sustain offering interest rates from 6-12% that is higher than most fiat banks which are specialists in investing.

Maybe I should give up?  and stop trying to 'splain my lil selfie and just causing confusion amongst the peeps?  Maybe that is one of PlanB's problems, too?  Me and PlanB share something in common.  too wordy.. PlanB the wordyman.
I sometimes find it hard to understand what you are saying but I do not think you should stop or change your habits based on me not understanding. I enjoy reading your posts as do many other people here in this thread I am sure. I sometimes find myself reading your posts multiple times to try and understand because you talk about a lot of things at once. That is not your problem but mine for not understanding. I hope I did not cause you to doubt or change your habits because you are one of the reasons WO is great Smiley
166  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Blocks of Crypto -- a Minecraft-Crypto Concept on: August 18, 2021, 05:15:33 PM
That is some fast coding. I think that allowing members to contribute to the wiki when the server is released publicly will help with keeping it up to date. You could still be the admin that approves of edits but writing a whole server worth of information and changing that every time something is changed in your plugins sounds like it will take away and slow down the development of the server.
167  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Regulation is needed likewise the law involvement on: August 18, 2021, 05:13:18 PM
There is no problem if there's a centralized project that you like and you're benefiting from it. What the problem with these centralized projects is that they can easily manipulate the data that they show and especially if you're a trader, you'll likely see bots and manipulated prices for the cryptos that they want to manipulate. That's just an example but we cannot also deny those good projects that are centralized are also the ones that are being close to the newcomers. Well, as long as the project you're investing in, centralized or decentralized, you'll still ending up having the thought of decentralization and invest with what you afford to lose.
I agree I do not think everything is better when it is decentralized but the problem with centralized projects is they lack the transparency needed to trust a project because there are many projects which are scams now. I think if we are talking about cryptocurrencies it is better to have a decentralized currency instead of a centralized currency but if you are talking about services which provide a service like a exchange sometimes centralized services are better than decentralized.
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: CRYPTO CASINOS WITH STAKING FEATURE (THEIR OWN TOKEN) on: August 18, 2021, 05:10:29 PM
Betfury is deserving on the number on spot on this list I think it is the only one which I have and will continue to use. I do think it is better for the gambler to use Bitcoin or other altcoins to gamble with instead of the casinos own token because you can profit more on using Bitcoin. If you win 1 Bitcoin that could go up in the future and earn you a lot more money but that is not possible if you are storing your winnings in tokens.
169  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which are the best cryptocurrencies for esports betting? on: August 18, 2021, 05:07:40 PM
Bitcoin and other altcoins which change often in price are not good for gambling. One week you might gamble $10 and then in a month time that might be worth $20. When you are gambling with higher amounts the price change is more noticeable. Stablecoins are the best things for gambling because they do not change price a lot.
170  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The connection between gambling and addiction behaviours? on: August 18, 2021, 05:05:42 PM
I think gambling is accompanied by alcohol if you think if you lose a lot of money you will be sad and hurt and will look for a way to numb that pain. Alcohol is what gamblers and addicts think is the best decision for them to help them cope from their losses. Then it is a vicious cycle where they try to get the money they lost back and when that does not work out they go back to drinking.
171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 18, 2021, 05:03:01 PM
It is not expected that he will score 28 goals in 34 matches in the 2020-21 season, having scored only 6 goals in 35 matches in the 2019-20 season. He has abilities. We've seen gameplay from him in the past. He can't adapt himself to this team. If we could adapt, the performance would not have deteriorated. Moreover, he needs more experience.
There is nothing wrong with what you say, he really needs time and effort to adapt well to his team which will give him experience. Tuchel may be able to give him plenty of chance to get more playing time in this busy season and Werner should make the most of them. There's no way Chelsea would be interested in him just to sit on the bench all season. If this season Werner fails to play well, then next season he will not be in the Tuchel project again in my opinion.
Werner had a bad season last season and he has not lived up to expectations. Chelsea made a decision to replace him with Lukaku. If you look at the team that Chelsea have there is no room for 2 strikers and one of them will be benched. I cannot see them benching Lukaku when they bought him for as much as they did. Werner is out of favor in Chelsea and I expect him to look for a transfer out of there next season.
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WALMART is hiring a cryptocurrency product lead ! on: August 18, 2021, 04:58:22 PM
It looks like there are a lot of larger businesses hiring cryptocurrency people lately. Since the larger they are the slower they move we are probably years away from seeing anything real. There will be tests and limited roll-outs. Then pulling back and examining the results, they some other testing. Then it will either all come to a big launch or just shutdown and moved to the this didn't work (make us enough profit) pile.

In the crypto space we are all used to seeing things happening very quickly, in the "real" world, big business moves at a snails pace.

-Dave
If they do plan on accepting cryptocurrency payments then I do not think it would take as long as you think. They would not need to test it or do limited roll outs. They could test it themselves but when it is working they do not need to touch it. They do not lose any thing by including crypto payments on their platforms. I still think that we are being optimistic and I think this newly hired person will be a advisor for investing into Bitcoin instead of accepting it on their platforms.
173  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mobile phone vs. laptop vs. tab...what's your preferred device for day trading? on: August 18, 2021, 04:53:06 PM
Most trading websites now have apps that you can download onto your phone or their websites work in the browser of the mobile phone. I like to have a lot of space to avoid making mistakes and I that is where a laptop or desktop computer is better but if you do not care about using a smaller screen size then a mobile phone has benefits like being more portable.
174  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Buying Btc and housing on: August 18, 2021, 04:48:31 PM
True 💯 binance P2P isn't P2P to me it's like a centralised P2P technics I was surprised they compulsory KYC verification for P2P users, this is nonsense but I don't anyways, if this doesn't happen binance will be facing more charges right now anyways, CZ saw this coming

It's technically still P2P, just with unnecessary AML/KYC requirements. But yea, the reason why P2P-with-KYC platforms such as Binance and LocalBitcoins still has users right now is just because of name recognition. Other than that, there shouldn't be a reason why people should use them at all.
Localbitcoins still allows you to do peer 2 peer trades with a small amount without KYC at least that is how is was when I used them. I left localbitcoins because it is the most popular but because of that the fees are higher than average.
175  Other / Off-topic / Re: I have a dog named Bit on: August 18, 2021, 04:46:28 PM
Pure bred Labrador or do I see some mixed breed in him? I like the name in the future there might be a lot of other people naming their dogs "bit" when Bitcoin gains more popularity and you would have started it! I have owned Labrador's and they have always been the best dogs not that there are any bad type of dogs but my Labradors will always have a special place in my heart.

I'll visit this tonight when I have nothing else to do. Cheesy
I just check a little bit of the site in my mobile phone and was happy that it is somehow convenient to scroll down unlike other where I still need to zoom, though do you plan to still make a mobile app for that soon though? Cheesy

A mobile app is entirely possible on Android! iPhone can only do a web version pushed to their home screen. Hmm, interesting thought, I might look into this if people want it Smiley
I would not put a lot of effort into creating a android app because you will not be able to host it on Google Play because it would be against their TOS and you would need to get people to disable their security feature on their phone to allow install from unknown sources which not a lot of people will be willing to do. I would concentrate on making it mobile friendly with a web browser instead.
177  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Blocks of Crypto -- a Minecraft-Crypto Concept on: August 18, 2021, 04:42:20 PM
Just calculated, altogether the project is now almost 8000 lines of code (excluding libraries).
All custom coded? How big is your team? If the plugins are custom coded then people will not be contributing to the wiki because they do not know how the plugins work. I think a wiki will be a ongoing project when you have released the server to the public.
178  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Regulation is needed likewise the law involvement on: August 18, 2021, 04:13:29 PM
We do not want to get rid of government we want to reform into something better. The current government is not suited the government is only in power to serve the people but they are exploiting their people. That is the problem once we remove the current governments then we can reform into something better and more fair. Bitcoin might allow people to break away from the methods that the government use to control them. Governments regulating Bitcoin is a good thing atm because it brings legitimacy to Bitcoin.
Decentralisation gets rid of government involvement in whatever the decentralisation is built on this is why BTC is cool I think you misunderstood what OP was saying, central bank have access to their customers information and that's because it's centralised, imagine a decentralized bank 🏦 lol, of cos that won't work on the surface of the earth
We are the decentralized banks. The government do not run all the banks and Bitcoin has stopped many of us relying on banks. I think most Bitcoin investors are still using a bank out of simplicity but in the future when Bitcoin becomes more stable and accepted globally I think more people will take banking into their own hands and manage their own money completely.
179  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you trust the co-vid19 vaccine ? on: August 18, 2021, 04:09:03 PM
The treatment of covid19 is so controversial to the extend I am not sure of who to believe, for now the vaccine is still in the trial version so I don't think young and healthy people should try it but those with the virus should be vaccinated so that we can ascertain it potency.
Look at the countries that have finally beaten covid-19. Most of their people are vaccinated so they got the herd immunity. Whilst in the midst of the newer variants.
They've proven that it lessens the severe attack of the virus for the infected people and it lessens hospitalization.
The vaccine is taking on a new form physicians also because the country's government believe that vaccination will reduce the danger of infection that's why the govt has introduced mass vaccination and everything is slowly opening up. Developed countries are usually taking this type of step the vaccine is acting as an resistant to the body.
The problem we have is even if developed countries open up they will only open up to each other leaving the under developed countries behind more than they already are. This could cause the developed countries to become a lot more developed and places like India and Africa who are struggling with the pandemic might have the virus for years because of a lack of vaccines. The developed countries need to focus on helping the less developed if they want to open up their borders globally.

I use fact checking websites like https://www.factcheck.org/. You type in what you have read like if plants can cure a disease and they only give you credible research and do not inject any bias into their answer. It is not perfect because it does always have all the answers but it is the best resource for checking if what you are reading is misinformation.
