162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] OPAIR | Decentralized Debit Cards | OCaml | New Blockchain Platform on: September 01, 2016, 11:09:28 PM
did I read correctly that the sig campagin is 7 btc???
I am sorry, but if thats the case, I want my ICO refund back. no way I am investing in an ICO for that much btc going to the campaign.
if anything total btc for the campaign should be no more than 0.5 btc total going to the campaign. As you can see, if we are having this discussion, that means they failed miserably at that campaign.

All best suggestions should be taken by the project team and then ask the investors ONLY to vote on it.
I had brought this up about the vote broken down to who invested and by how much on the Opair slack channel.
The same way you do when you invest in stocks.

It was BTC7 from the start, well BTC7 in XPO at first. but in investors interest they decided to pay out in btc because many people might dump the coin if it hits a exchange. The shares I got are way less then I received on other ICO's and signature campaigns. That the ICO didn't raised enough is because Opair team wasn't being transparent from the start and raised so many red flags that investors stayed away. I wanted to invest a lot more but after a lot of hassle I decided not to.
So you don't believe in the project you wanted to be a part of the campaign , thats like the most negative campaign ever and that deserves less than the .5 btc I suggested for this.
I saw a a ICO succeed with less than 6btc.
Since the numbers went down as initially planned for the ICO, that included the Bounty, then the bounty and signature campaign should be reflected by the percentage raised.

Testnet is not working with the release on github, it keeps searching for a genesis block when I run with -testnet

You might want to fix that...

I believe they took down the testnet node

Uh okay... thats... unfortunate.. I have no supercomputer to test miners :/

have to help you test if you need, I can put like 4 or 5 computers with i7's to test for you.

He is actually do it it for almost all the popular coins, I saw it for Monero too.
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][VRM] Verium PoWT Reserve | Verium launched! on: September 01, 2016, 02:13:18 AM
guys be patient, on my slow i3 laptop it found a block and meanwhile my i7 gaming rig took an hour to find one, so its like solo mining, you have to leave it overnight and then you will see it.
Its not like a pool where its consistent.

All going well, just wanted to verify that, just a slight lag showing the hashrate, but in less than a minute , it showed the hashrate.

I am surprised there is no mad rush in the last 24 hours to buy Naut before the announcements.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Mass Network on: August 31, 2016, 05:12:21 AM
So the product you are creating has nothing to do with a blockchain? so basically this is a way to raise funds for an application, similar to seed fund/venture capital by creating a coin, but the investors who no stake in it? The application where the user get remunerated by advertisements is not tied to this coin or use of the blockchain?
So if the application is not successful, the value of the coin plummets to zero.
Most products from Ethereum to others all have and had a community involvement, but the legalese says no by the Mass Network OP.

***Whats the plan and is there any interest showed by any one of those 3 and if not how do you plan to go about it?***
We did not contact, neither we were approached. It most probably is not going to happen until some significant critical mass of users is achieved. But, let me emphasize it again, it's not our ideology to ransom a large player once we start to influence its income.

So no market studies or evaluation ? I am asking these question because I have worked in media companies here in NA.
Has advisory board already seen whitepaper yet? Is anyone of them based in NA or working knowledge of the internet advertising market?
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Mass Network on: August 27, 2016, 08:11:26 AM
Could you please tell us about the browser and app you are planning to create. Are the Mass coins part of it? or is it something similar to Adblock or Brave browser?
I understand the value of Adblock and its big battle with Facebook whose only revenue is via advertisements, so too is Whatsapp, so any block to the advertisements is a huge blow to their revenue.
I only want to invest in a product, not just another ICO. I know a lot of folks here just want to make a quick buck as soon as its traded on the exchanges sadly.

The browser is very similar to brave.com with the two major differences:  (1) while brave.com fences off regular advertisers (the entire RTB framework), Mass, on the contrary, want the to join and tune their behavior.

Ad&track blocking changes the paradigm of online advertising anyway. Some reshaping of the industry is inevitable. So we propose to adjust in time. The straight-forwards capitalist approach is the only viable one. Web users are sick and tired of them being used for free. So everybody has to take that into consideration.

You may not know this, but adblocking reach 50% share within the important user group — younger users under 29 in US and EU.
So if you are planning to use your product with the advertisers, and the users have an option to opt-in in return for some form of payment?
What payment would that be? Give me a good reason why I should use Mass Network's product over the rest?

The good reason: there are only two browsers that pay for ordinary browsing: Mass and Brave, the latter being limited to its own ad network. How large can that network grow? We don't know. But we bet on changing the system from within not from outside.

What kind of money. Well, the total global annual ad revenue is like $10^12 order. Say, 90% of it is the real estate itself (actual time/places for ads), and only 10% is the surrounding infrastructure such as data management. Now. The owner of $10^11 starts to demand its share and acquires half of that. We have $5 x 10^10. Advertisers are interested in the "gold billion" (10^9 people). So, we have $5 x 10^2 for each user during the year.

As for the link, my question based on the chart, should majority of the Mass coins should be purchased by the advertising market to pay for the users?
Advertising agencies or organizations don't have a fluctuating budget, as the coins do.
Second part about the browsers, its very critical to get not just plain websites to partner with you, but companies like Google, Facebook and Apple, who have their system for advertisers to leverage their system.
Whats the plan and is there any interest showed by any one of those 3 and if not how do you plan to go about it?

Here is the provisionary website, it still needs work but will do for now.

I hope all updated will be reflected there with information for pools and such.

What was the reason other than its not ready yet, you did not choose waves?
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] INCHAIN. Ethereum based insurance platform on: August 26, 2016, 05:26:00 PM
Do you plan to use hardforked Ethereum, or also consider Ethereum Classic, Expanse, other Ethereum like projects?

Our initial thoughts were about the hardforked one, the question is still open though. Any suggestions?
Stick to the one that has proper support and accepted widely

deleted the files again and now it works.

If you were on testnet1 make sure you deleted everything including wallet.dat from testnet1.  If you did or weren't on testnet1 it should sync up soon, also make sure you are using testnet2 wallet 1.0.1.
I was on testnet 1 and deleted all the files as mentioned before and downloaded the new version 1.0.1
and I am still having the same issue.
Could somebody else with the same scenario verify please
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][VRM] Verium PoWT Reserve | Verium testnet live now! on: August 26, 2016, 01:11:26 AM
testnet2 is up! http://www.vericoin.info/ico.html Clear verium data folder including wallet.dat if you were on testnet1 it's a fresh chain.

How long does it take to sync the network?
I have more than 4 connections and still seems to be stuck at "145 blocks remaining"
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][VRM] Verium PoWT Reserve | Verium testnet live now! on: August 24, 2016, 06:36:18 PM
We are preparing a fresh testnet, with optimized parameters and bugs squashed. We are also setting up a dns-seeder on second testnet to aid with connectivity. If all goes well this be the final parameters for mainnet Verium which will be launched after we run some tests on second testnet. This we be a fresh testnet chain, so if you want to try to mine on it again you are welcome. New wallets will be posted with these final parameters on vericoin.info/ico.html when they are ready. Key parameter change that will effect mining is we are dropping the memory requirement from 256MB to 128MB, to support older and hyperthreaded systems, speed syncing and loading the block index. This is still a very hard memory so won't advantage gpus or asics in any significant way.
As a reference this likely final memory requirement is exactly 1000x more memory hard than standard scrypt. So we may end up calling it mega-scrypt.
in this context standard scrypt would be kilo-scrypt
standard scrypt is 128kb memory requirement

The way you mention very hard for GPU's to mine, is this a reference meaning this could be mined with GPU's currently?
Will there be pools for this or just solo mining via the wallet only?

We haven't been able to mine it with a GPU, anything is possible, even if you were able to make it work, you would likely have to use a fraction of the available processors in a GPU at one time, in which case it would be less competitive than a CPU because GPU cores are slower.

Thanks for the reply, I would love to test the second testnet test . Roughly when will be be online?
