Sounds like a "fix" to me.
Maybe they know something we dont???

Anyway, my miners didnt explode with a halving bug and im still mining here at CKPool.

Time for an Indian and copious amounts of alcohol.

Eighteen blocks left until 1/2 ing.

I have been catching up on my readings in the forum and several miners have called it quits & selling their gear... citing rewards halving mainly, expensive & un-ROI-able S9 and couldn't justify power bill etc.

I couldn't see the rationale here because they can upgrade to S9 which basically gives 2-5 to 3 times more hash for lower power than S7, Avalons etc.

Yes, block rewards is less now but TX amount should increase since its more difficult to find a block.

I think the most important variable that we can depend on is Kano's track record reporting on average we will see 100 blocks every 23 plus days.

My question now is ... will the increased (or lower) difficulty change the 100 block mark to 46 days (23 x 2)?

Any insights from experts?

I am thinking that people are scared of the unknown.  The S7s are still and will still be profitable, just not as much.  I have 43 S7s for sale right now.  If they sell great, if they do not, great.

I do not think that there will a big difference in the difficulty level from historical averages.  The ones getting out of mining are small.  The biggest difference will be in the supply and demand; furthermore, drastic changes in the price of Bitcoin.  The next 2 weeks will be a settling in period.  I think that Bitcoin will have a dramatic increase by September and by the end of the year!  My thoughts.   Wink

I'm hoping that Bitmain lower the price on the S9's then I'll be selling the S7's as well.
The efficiency increase should easily cover losses on a one to one basis.
Still reading some posts on the S9's not sure if they are stable just yet.
Fingers crossed!

Just a short time away.

 Undecided

My estimates are: a tough couple of weeks with halving and not much change in Bitcoin, but then the price will shoot up.

Thinking along the same lines. I see a drop in value, a decline in hash power generally over the network over a week period then a strange week or so until the difficulty and network hash rate sorts itself out.

Then I see green and lots of it all over the Kano dash and more happy times to come.

Unless of course some bugger in China turns on a super factory full of S9's then we are all in it.

And happy halving day to you all.

Fingers crossed we get "the halving block" now that would be cool.
Nice and rainy and cold in the UK today, just trimmed my S7's to overclock for that extra bit of thrashing power.

It's about time we scored some luck and see the blocks fall.

About 9 hours to go folks, see you on the other side!

An old Spondoolies SP20 I sold a while back just started mining again about twenty minutes ago.
Its mining for me for free!
LMAO if it finds the next block.

When you watch the hash rate fall in the ckpool dashboard and find some one unplugged my three phase to the mine to plug in a welder .........
No welding today folks, not with green lights like this!
 Embarrassed

It's been a great day today, outstanding performance on pool!
Hope to wake up to more blocks.

This one adjusts frequency based on miner temp.
Might be easier than setting by time maybe?

For those looking at controlling frequency by ssh.
Not saying this might help but this link

https://github.com/ctubio/cgminer-bitmain-fan-controller/blob/master/README.md

He seems to have a way to adjust fan by ssh.
Bit of thought might be able to tweak by using a local script to do the remote work.

It's a nice Tuesday TBF.
Hope we can keep it up.
171  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S9 - Stops Hashing still using power on: July 04, 2016, 09:05:29 PM
Don't Antminers mine locally if the Internet connection goes down?
As said above check cables, change port on switch etc.

So glad I stuck with Kano and rode out the bad times.
Ive never done this before, always got cold feet and pool jumped.
Good times are back, blocks are solving and the dollar is flowing!

Block!

One or two more blocks in the next 2 hours would be SWEET!  Grin

Five today I'm in profit, hope when I wake up tomorrow the pools smashed some more.
174  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Cheap electricity on: July 03, 2016, 08:15:53 PM
Well i think its a good investment because the price of bitcoin right now is high and more price increase will come so i you have 29 5 pieces i think you can earn high amount of bitcoin  you can pay for your monthly bill for power and hold your bitcoin for few months and sell it when the price of bitcoin is high so i think it will still profitable..

thanks for your response. İ still dont know if i should wait to buy the miners because of the halving. Maybe they will be cheaper after that...

Im hoping the S9 cost comes down.
I'm running S7's with cheap ish electricity.
The cost of the S9 is IMHO way to high at the moment.

After the halving the price will either come down, or knowing they have the fastest commercially available miner wil just hold the price and cash in.

The B2 / B3 was a typical money maker, sell B2 with a delivery date a week ahead then release B3 available today for $100 more money.

Just sit and hope the price does come down.
Also hoping the S7 price stays high so I can eBay the S7's.
Not sure the S9 is quite stable just yet reading the thread on here.

I've got a Win10 boot drive on my workstation, but only use it for Seamonkey...could never figure out how to get it to install properly on my main drive, which is Ubuntu (16.04...but Seamonkey wouldn't install on 12 either). I've not been able to find a decent wysiwyg html editor open-source. Otherwise, I've become allergic to anything MS.

LOL...  Cheesy..... is Wordstar or WordPerfect still available for Windows?

Wordstar, now there's a blast from the past!
First word Proc I ever saw when I was a trainee network technician at the good old age of 16.
Showing your age now!

LOL... those were the days....Wordstar and those KX1050 or was that KX1051 dot-matrix printers, but then again I was "lucky" I didn't have to go through using punch cards...  Grin Grin Grin

hehe... and boot ms-dos with 5.25" flobby disk using IBM computer with a green monochrome monitor, those days Tongue

And the WD XT GEN hard disk controller card, now that's a few years ago.
Was training as a network engineer using 3-Com 3+ Share, before the days of Novell and even Windows.
Floppy disk heaven.

Lets get some blocks today .......

"Spirit, Earth, air, water and fire.
Come to me and give me what I want;
Waves of blocks fall on me,
And I make my hashing wishes without effort;
As I what I want".

Lets smash them out .......

Sticking with Kano and riding this out!

Thanks CKPool, I've nearly mined enough to pay my next holiday instalment and with my low 14.5 th/s I'm only earning like $7 a block!

Benidorm here we come!

Come on good luck, one more holiday payment to go yayyyyy!

Withholding Blocks.
I've only been mining less than a year.
I've heard of withholding blocks.
Pool finds a block, does not broadcast to network.
Apart from not earning a reward what effect does this have on the network?
Does this cause the orphan blocks?
Sorry for the questions would like to understand.
Flamer.
