How to get a living?
Share your BTC address

Humm, I think I see a gigantic business opportunity in tattoos for a certain occupation... .  Grin

You're about 4 years late with that thought, it's already been done. I won't link it, just google image search "girl bitcoin tattoo" and you'll see the image. Although most believe it's photoshopped.

Anyhoo, looks like more sideways -ish action for now. Probably nothing to see for another 9 days. The whole crypto market seems to take a simultaneous dump every 9-10 days since the first started, so...

Since this is the speculation thread, do you guys think we will get to 2600 again before august? Lost and made some money, still need a bit more to break even again.

Bro, I'll heartedly advice you not to play in such a volatile market as crypto is. Unless you're a full skilled trader from stock markets. BTC is king and will win the final battle against fiat. Soon things will be like that:

You are completely right, I'm definitely not a skilled trader yet, just been lurking for some time

I am just playing with around 2k, and I only buy in trends + when I see clear candle patterns and with the info from this website and telegram. So most of the time I only make "safe" (I know it is almost never safe") trades. But then I discovered leverage trades, made some good money, adrenaline was pumping, got overconfident (also the drinks did not help) went long just as it was turning (Still have no idea where my logic went).

I am aspiring to become a full skilled stock trader, BTC just happened to come on my path and with little money you could still easily make a couple of 100 bucks. Also the idea of using it as long term savings account looked great since in Holland I get less then 1% growth in a year... Also since the laws for bitcoins are still in a grey area you can do a lot of fun things with it (currently writing a coin buying and investing website with ideal support for a select amount of people). The API's in general are funt to work with as a programmer so it gives me some incentive to work.

As soon as I get that website up and running and have some more funds I'll start opening up a proper broker account and reading into where to start there... This is getting a bit off topic but any suggestions on where I can start even with a low amount off funds. Probably best not to post it here.

TLDR;
Lost all my earnings and a chunk of my 2k due too leverage and intoxicated, slowly getting it back. Also do want to get into  normal

better to buy as the price goes down and sell as the price goes up, but don't buy or sell too much in order that you do not run out of either bitcoins (on the way up) or fiat (on the way down).

So in that regard, if you only have bitcoins because you used all your fiat to buy at a price that is higher than the current price, then you just have to wait it out for however much time it takes to return to you purchase price level, even if it takes a year or two.

In the meantime, if BTC prices continue to go down, which surely is possible, just continue to buy $10 per week (or whatever reasonable amount is in your budget), and sooner or later, you continue to bring down your average cost per BTC and you will be back in the the game and be able to sell some of your bitcoins either below $2600 or above $2600 (but as long as you are selling as the price goes up and buying as the price goes down, you should be good), and whenever BTC returns to that $2600 level (whether this week or a few years from now), you will be fully back... and hopefully learned some lessons along the way...hahahahaha   Cheesy

140+ Wall spotted @ $2400 @ Bitfinex

EDIT: being swallowed in an hallucinating rhythm.
Market looks thirsty.

In the last half hour also a 150+50 BTC walls around 2100€ at Kraken have been eaten. Maybe those are somewhat "small" walls, but they were for real and of significant size for Kraken.

We are again inside the triangle. Sideways, and more sideways.

Like Jimbo says, "coiling, coiling..."

Interesting thread, I'll start following.
I have some SIAcoin I've GPU-mined, I know it's possible to earn 'em renting space, I'll pay attention if it's worth.

167  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How fragile is the pot we're putting our money in? on: July 13, 2017, 12:53:37 AM
The PBOC surely knows that China currently has a lock on Bitcoin mining, yet they do nothing to subvert it. I would think that further centralization of mining in China would only benefit or even cement their overall control of Bitcoin in the long run.

Perhaps Bitmain and Jihan Wu are being paid/compensated to attempt to exact further control over Bitcoin and its development. Having Segwit, LN, and staying with 1MB blocks would ultimately circumvent much of that control.

Fully agreed.

169  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 13, 2017, 12:26:18 AM

Probably the Deep State working behind the scenes to co-op Bitcoin. I keep thinking that Jihan Wu/Bitmain has already been corrupted. And if they successfully take it over, the statists will pump it even higher just to prove that the masses are greedy sheep ready to come on over to their darkside.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1980637

About the PBOC i am not 100% sure Bitcoin is not in their best interests. And I would guess they are also not sure. The macroeconomic implications of Bitcoin are so complex that I don't think no parties really know. And that's why no government has made any extreme move about it.

Bitcoin is a means to subvert PBOC policy so it is hard to see how they can be in favor of it. Wu will be a tool of PRC policy when the Central Committee decides it has a Bitcoin policy. China is a communist dictatorship.

THANK. YOU.

Finally someone is catching with how I see the way it works.

There was a post by Ralph C. Merkle.

While there are many technical descriptions of Bitcoin and the excitement it has created, it is perhaps worthwhile to try and capture this excitement in a way that can be understood by those without a technical background.

Briefly, and non-technically, Bitcoin is the first example of a new form of life. It lives and breathes on the internet. It lives because it can pay people to keep it alive. It lives because it performs a useful service that people will pay it to perform. It lives because anyone, anywhere, can run a copy of its code. It lives because all the running copies are constantly talking to each other. It lives because if any one copy is corrupted it is discarded, quickly and without any fuss or muss. It lives because it is radically transparent: anyone can see its code and see exactly what it does.

It can’t be changed. It can’t be argued with. It can’t be tampered with. It can’t be corrupted. It can’t be stopped.

It can’t even be interrupted.

If nuclear war destroyed half of our planet, it would continue to live, uncorrupted. It would continue to offer its services. It would continue to pay people to keep it alive.

The only way to shut it down is to kill every server that hosts it. Which is hard, because a lot of servers host it, in a lot of countries, and a lot of people want to use it.

Realistically, the only wayto kill it is to make the service it offers so useless and obsolete that no one wants to use it. So obsolete that no one wants to pay for it. No one wants to host it. Then it will have no money to pay anyone. Then it will starve to death.

But as long as there are people who want to use it, it’s very hard to kill, or corrupt, or stop, or interrupt.

Thank you for sharing, I really appreciated this.
171  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum for Android on: July 12, 2017, 02:05:20 AM
In the case of a network split, I need my private keys, so I'll be able to move my coins in any forked network.
How do I access my private keys from Electrum to input it at Segwit2x client?

This release include various changes. The most notable is a difficulty adjustment algorithm that decrease the difficulty in case hashrate gets very low. We obviously which that this feature won't be used, and it won't kick in if hashrate stay above 8% of the global hashrate. However, this ensure that this chain will survive no matter what, as long as someone think it is valuable.

Maybe if you have some old ASICs, they can be useful again ...

How long for this code to be implemented?
173  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 12, 2017, 12:37:17 AM
It looks like the big altcoin crypto bubble is bursting on all frontiers currently:

  • Altcoins crashing in Bitcoin ratio
  • GPU mining rewards decreased by 75%
  • Poloniex Bitcoin lending market down to a wooping 0.03%/day when it was 0.7% at some point

As an altcoin gpu miner I've felt that in my flesh. But as a Bitcoin fanatic and long term believer I only mine ETC to exchange for Bitcoin and increase my stash, thus this reward decrease is actually being excellent to me, as we got from May to June an outstandingly increase in mining competition that dried GPU stores off. Roger Ver's shameful news outlet reported a mass of unemployed in many eastern-European countries were gpu-mining to complement their incomes, and that made things more difficult for those who were previously mining. Now that it is not profitable anymore (at least for those who aim on mining to sell and earn Fiat), alts gpu mining is back for those who see as a good investment to change their electricity bill for Bitcoins. Or buy Bitcoins with their electricity bill, whatever way you want to see it.

176  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just DO. NOT. SELL. Bitcoin... we can ALL be rich! on: July 10, 2017, 01:25:03 AM
But to be rich you'll have to sell the Bitcoins one day or another.

Just be sure you get more Bitcoins than you spend and make your sale worth.

No, you don't. Please see my above post.
177  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just DO. NOT. SELL. Bitcoin... we can ALL be rich! on: July 10, 2017, 01:04:04 AM
How can we be rich if we don't sell?  Wink At some point, we would sell. It just depends when you feel comfortable to. You can say that people who sell early are impatient, dumb, foresightless, but you can also see them as being less greedy, and they know how much profits are enough.

Those people who sell early may just want quick profits, yes. We don't know the future of Bitcoin, and even though we know its supply is limited and demand will increase, we still won't know what may happen to Bitcoin. The only thing we know is the price now, and how much profit we gain from selling it now. Less uncertainty if you sell now than to wait even longer.

(...)

NEVER SELL! OP is explaining soon you won't need to sell. FIAT soon will be worthless. Merchants worldwide will be pleased to accept Bitcoin. You'll only sell now to re-buy it for much much more FIAT months later.

If 2500 is breached on Stamp here, we're going to see some downside.

Otherwise bot trading still in control.

BitFinex lost $2500 a couple hours ago and isn't showing strength to recover so far...
179  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another bullish prediction for this year on: July 09, 2017, 11:04:37 PM
No, it wouldn't be so bullish this year as it was last year. Now Bitcoin is going through a crucial period and its future will decided in August. This year you can see bitcoin hopping between $2000-$2800.

Can you explain me how "it wouldn't be so bullish this year as it was last year"?
AFAIK and I remember last year (2016) BTC went from $424 in January to $981 by the end of December.
It's 231% in a whole year.

This year (2017) alone SO FAR TILL NOW BTC went from $981 to $2514 (right now on bitcoinaverage.com).
It's 256% growth in only 7 months.
Where are you taking your data from? In best scenario I'd say it's from your imagination, but I can imagine worst places.
Please don't come here writing wishful bullshit, bring us reality.

Those bastards. I believed in you. Did you want an e-hug?

Who is this random and why should I care what his opinion is? He invested a few hundred in the first cryptocurrencies he saw on coinmarketcap? Woop dee doo. Great research tactic. We all bitcoin is going to do well. What is he basing this off of though?
