has anyone tried butchering jj's hashmonitor powershell script to monitor castxmr now that it has an API?

i would but my programming leaves a lot to be desired....

Yes, working on it.  Hopefully over the weekend can get it running.

Using Y-spliiter for rx Vega is very dangerous. It can't handle the power spikes fluctuations, however you can use dual cerfified cable like the one EVGA has with 1 end 6+2 pin and the other end with 6pin and use a 6 to 8 pin adaptor

Uh, how do I politely say I don't think so?  I'm using splitters on every Vega I own and quite a few of my 1080 Ti's.  But let me quickly add that because power is expensive where I am, I undervolt and look for max Sols/w or max H/w.

And I've been doing this for some time so if a fluctuation was going to burn the place down, would have probably happened.

Guys, I just got my 6 Vega 56 cards... I wanted to power them with an EVGA 1600 G2 but I just don't have enough VGA power connectors! Do I really have to connect 2x 8-pin per GPU? Is that needed for mining?

Go to eBay, get the splitters, like this one:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Pc-PCI-E-6-Pin-Femal-To-Dual-8-Pin-6-2-Pin-Card-Power-Adapter-Cable-PCIE-PCI/222615689892?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

They work well.  I've used them on 1080 Ti and Vega (but I undervolt, I don't go crazy with TDP +120 or anything like that).

But if I were you, I think would think about a server PSU, maybe the DPS-2000 or DPS-2500 and a price-technology.com breakout board, 6-pin cables to PCIe risers, 6-pin cables to (2) 6+2 pin splitters for GPU. You'll need a pico psu as well and a 240v outlet OR a step-up transformer (search "ELC step up transformer" on eBay).

All of that is less that the EVGA 1600 PSU.  Not that I have anything against EVGA - that's a solid PSU.

so my cards for rig arrived got them all  flashed and set  but i  strugle with default  resolution without monitor im using team viewer to access my rig

the default res is 420-280 or sumthing like this its extremly low its just small box actually and i cant even open amd setting becouse min res needed is 800x600 and i cant change it in windows setting like there is no option avaible  and cant open amd coz resolution

Also  when i try to disable cards and enable them 5 of cards without problem but when i disable the first 1 the pc resets

Any ideas guys ? Alread spent 5 hours trying to figure it out but without luck so  i have 5x cards full speed and  1 slower...

Plug in a HDMI dongle - especially if you have Intel on-chip IGPU.

Does anyone have the new --remoteaccess feature working on v0.70?

I launch Cast 0.70 and the Windows firewall screen comes up, I hit allow, but I cannot get a live hash rate window via my browser (I can without any problem on the same machine with XMR-STAK).
Yes, it works for me on both localhost (same machine) and even across the internal network. Double-check the Firewall settings is the only thing I can suggest.

I did that.  Tried two different machines.  Where are you placing "--remoteaccess" in your .bat file and are you adding any arguments after --remoteaccess ?

When Cast launches, it says it is starting the server, but absolutely can't bring it up -- two different machines, two different processors, 1 Ethernet, 1 Wireless, and so on...

I added in at the end of the .bat file. just --remoteaccess.

You should see a line mentioning "starting remote server access on 127.0.0.1:7777"

Just go to that http if it's on local machine and you should see the json output. Make sure you have port forwarding if you intend to access the information remotely.

Yes, I see that line "starting remote access server on 127.0.0.1:7777" but I cannot access it locally.

I can access XMR stats this way, I can access EWBF this way.  I don't get it.  Checked firewall.  Moved it to the end of the .bat, thanks for that.

Have anyone tried mining with vega frontier edition? Wondering if the extra ram helps with running XMR?

Did you ever find out an answer to this?

PCB is identical to Vega 56.  Only 2x HBM.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: November 29, 2017, 05:06:12 AM
Is a HDMI dummy plug absolutely required for mining XMR at 1850+? or is it just for ease of use when using remote desktop?
Is there any other suitable alternative (aside from a monitor)? as shipping seems to be obscene in time-frame.
And does it actually have to be connected to a powered-on monitor?

Also, I'm using this guide to create a start-up script;
http://vega.miningguides.com/p/auto-run-miner-without-hashmonitor.html

Where is says;
Find the section of code shown below and replace the underlined portion with the miner name of your choosing.
start "XMR-STAK Unified" xmr-stak.exe --config config.txt

what would be the appropriate equivalent for Cast XMR miner? (cast_xmr-vega.exe)
I load this miner with 'xxx.bat'

would it simply be;

start xxx.bat?

Yep.  Exactly.  My .bat for Cast is named "Start-Cast" - so I modify script like this:

start "Start-Cast" Start-Cast.bat

echo.

echo.

echo Press any key to restart the miner...

pause>NUL

Taskkill /im cast_xmr-vega.exe /f

GOTO :Start

POPD

Hello,

I have the miner running on a Vega 56 no problems, 580 no problems, but when I run on the rx480 the miner only does one card at a time , each refresh all other cards read 0, then the next refresh the next card reads right but the rest are 0, looks like pool side it ok but client side read incorrectly..anyone run into this?

Yes, saw the same thing when mixing RX 480 and Vega 56s.  Pool side and total reported hash rate looks okay, but the GPU refresh readouts appear as you describe.

I use wattman with no problems. Day after day of stability at over 2K average hash rate on 4 vega 64's. It's not Wattman that is the problem, but I concede that it of course is far from perfect.

Make sure you have 8MB of Virtual Mem per card set in your virtual mem space (windows10). 1024 * 16 for (2 cards) = 16384 + 300 for overhead =16684 total. OR maybe better settings 2 (cards) 1024 *16 *1.5 = 24576VM.
Make sure crossfire is turned off (should not be an option if using the blockchain driver so generally ignore people saying this)
If using wattman sometimes it is best to toggle the HBCC on off after PC reboot. (leave it off on all cards)
My fans are set to 2500RPM min with a target 70C and max of 75C - You will need to adjust fan speed per your climate. If you can keep the cards at 70C and lower, all the better.
turn the monitor settings in windows to never turn off.

That is about all really.

Fire up the script and let it run. You can turn your monitor off and on and the hash rate should stay the same.

Wattman is a problem.  And Crossfire *can* be randomly turned on by Wattman even if using the Block chain drivers, which is all I have ever used with Vega.  So check Crossfire in Wattman, if you are still using Wattman, which is not recommended.

Wattman has not been a problem for me so I disagree with the news that it is. I don't have a crossfire option in Wattman, I use on board video. Everything is working great. Windows 10 is a bigger problem.

It works well for you, great.  But there are at least four different threads about getting Vega to work and many people have reported issues when using Wattman.

using the b110 BTC+ im at 8 vegas

What are your P7 / P3 states & mv settings?

What's the total hashing rate for all 8 cards after the miner has run for a while?  Just curious.
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help Please - Vega 56 Mining Rig Troubleshooting on: November 27, 2017, 09:14:19 PM
Interesting predicament.  I am running all 6 vega 56 at GPU P7 1408 MHz 1000 mV and  memory P3 1100 MHz 950mV.  Where it seems to be fairly stable.  I did get 1 hang in GPU0 which caused a restart.  However, when I undervolt the cards down to GPU 841 mV and memory 805 mV GPU0 that hangs in openCL or something like that.  It is always GPU0 and that confuses the hell out of me as these are all Sapphire RX Vega 56 and all have samsung memory.  The only difference is that GPU0 is in the actual PCIE slot on the motherboard and the others are all in risers.  It does have a monitor connected to it right now but that will be replaced with an HDMI dongle shortly.  Thoughts anyone?

First I would try applying a separate ONT profile of maybe 890 / 870 to the GPU0 PCIe card.  Or try lowering values in P7 & P3 for GPU0.

If that doesn't work, stick a different video card in the motherboard PCIe slot, maybe an old Nvidia card or something.  Does the problem go away?

Or does a different GPU start hanging with the 841/805 mv settings?

Raijintech Morpheus II aftermarket air cooler - works with Vega's, though not designed for them.

Advantages are: good temps and damn near silent and it may end up with you applying better thermal grease, which should help whether you run Cast or something else.

Cons:  sets you back $60, somewhat delicate operation, exposes back side of the Vega

Disclosure:  temps no better than setting stock blower fan to 3,000/3,500 rpm -- but the Raijintech Morpheus II + 120mm fans is silent by comparison.

Start here for an overview:  https://youtu.be/THaMlkNDzYs

The YouTube video leaves out a few steps.  Here is what I would add:

1.  Use a very well padded counter top in case you slip, or the Vega slips, while taking it apart (towels, something very soft for the delicate circuitry when the backplate comes off)
2.  Use a new, good quality #0 philips screw driver -- you'll need it to remove the tiny screws on the top, bottom, and shiny display port sides of the Vega case.  Focus on the first quarter turn.
3.  Start by securing the 4 metal risers with plastic O rings to the Morpheus II plate and use some Loc-tite on this.  Leave it alone to dry while you disassemble the Vega.
4.  Remove tiny top screws, then tiny bottom screws, shiny plate screws, and then easiest of all -- the screws on the actual back plate.  Keep everything together in case you have to RMA or later resell.
5.  Use a new straight edge razor to carefully remove the white sticker on the X GPU bracket.  You need this sticker in one piece if you ever seek to RMA in the States.
6.  Careful when cracking the Vega board away from the metal frame (after all screws have come out).  You need to do this gently in order to access and separate the fan cable, and the cable that leads to the LED lights.  Crack it only about half an inch and separate those two cables.
7.  I use Q-tips + Acetone + 90% rubbing alcohol to clean the old crud off the GPU/hbcc die.  There may be bits of thermal padding on the mosfets and chokes, and I clean that off as well.  I place all the thermal pads onto the black metal frame in their appropriate indentations.  I use magnification for this step.  I spray canned air over the board when done to remove moisture and any residual crud.
8.  Artic 5 Silver seems to work well.  I apply to the Vega GPU/hbcc die and very lightly to the Morpheus II plate.
9.  Take your time applying all those narrow heatsinks to the Mosfets.  Note that even the low profile heat sinks will *not* fit the chokes that are located at the top of the GPU; the video kind of glides over this without explaining.  You can put heat sinks on the side chokes.
10.  Use books or something else to level up the bare, stripped down Vega board with the Morpheus II plate when lining up the new GPU brace and screwing that in.  Otherwise, with all that thermal grease, the card will slide all over while you are trying to screw in the new GPU metal brace.
11.  You could probably get by with (1) 120mm fan clipped to the fins over the GPU, but I would use (2) 120mm fans.  Order some 1 to 3 fan cable splitters ahead of time.
12.  Go into your bios and dial up your motherboard fan settings.

Carry the Vega + Raijintech cooler using the shiny display port front part and the back edge of the card, avoid touching the exposed back of the Vega.

Also, I found it easier to clip the (2) 120mm fans onto the Raijintech Morpheus fins *before* securing the Vega to the Morpheus II.  Fan clips take a little while to get used to.

I have 6 bloody Gigabyte Vega 56 flashed to gigabyte air 64 bios the are driving me mad!  Two of them managed to run miraculously on Asus x370 board with ryzen 1600 cpu. using oldcomers more power 142 fixed reg , p7:1408/875  P3:1100/850 . have been running for a month now at 1600-1700h, don't bother touching them for any improvement!

However, the other bunch of 4 is crashing on everything I throw at them- none of the helae regs work! the Oldcomers one with the working config as used on the x370 board doesn't work!  the vegamining.blogspot.sg recipe doesn't work!
board is Gigabyte z270p-d3 , g4560 cpu, 16gb ram.  2x Vegas put in the first and third 16x slots.  win 10 pro 1703. blockchain driver aug 23

what the hell is wrong with GB Vega 56 batches?  I see people I the forum  running several of them successfully, used their overdriventool setting, instant crash!

Did anyone successfully flash other bios on those damn Gigabytes?

First thing I would do, assuming your motherboard bios is up to date:  go online to the Microsoft site and download/apply the Fall Creators Update for Windows 10.  It seems unlikely that 4 different cards would all be bad.

The Helae Reg mods didn't work for me either.  Oldcomer's "fixed" mod from pt 2 of this YouTube video was better.  Best I found was the one offered by user brnstead on this forum.

And best thing of the Cryptonight algorithm is it will save you energy money in the long run. I don't know how it behave in RX Vegas cards but in RX 4xx/5xx series the consumption is 30-35 watt less than mining Ethereum and about 55 watt less than mining Zcash. With 1850 h/s is as having 3x RX 480 cards. Fantastic performance.
Decent rx 480/580 cards usually hash @ 770-820 H/s, so Vegas are more like 2.3x times faster. Only 1.5x times faster in Dagger. And Vegas are also very noisy (except the water cooled ones), gotta keep the fan spinning really fast to cool that hbm module. It's a one trick pony at this point, but it does that one trick (cryptonight) well.

Wacko, I agree with you about this:  RX 480 would do 850 H/s Cryptonight.  So Vegas are not 3x faster.  Also, very loud as you say.  I took mine apart and put on the Raijentech Morpheus II coolers.  Now almost silent.
