If it really goes poof, I'd sue their asses.
1602  Economy / Exchanges / Re: ***CEX.IO Cloud mining official page*** on: November 06, 2013, 08:39:20 PM
It's not about the funds you left there, it's the GH/s...do they like refund us or something? I mean, imagine if you invest 20btc, in 3 months before you even break even from the mining, they shut down...what happens with the miners, where is our money??
1603  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [PSA] WhiskChat Hack Analysis - CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS IF YOU USED WHISKCHAT! on: November 06, 2013, 08:36:28 PM
What was the hashing algorithm for the passwords? Did you employ at least 7500 rounds of SHA512? Did you not check for holes in your website?
1604  Economy / Exchanges / Re: ***CEX.IO Cloud mining official page*** on: November 06, 2013, 08:34:16 PM
Same here. Is there going to be compensation of any sorts? Also, I read something disturbing...if CEX.IO or GHASH.IO go bankrupt or something...then it means all our GH/s just die and we never even get our money back??
1605  Other / Off-topic / Re: how applicable are blockchain eruptors to password cracking? on: November 06, 2013, 03:31:01 PM
Non applicable at all. Well, slightly, but since miners do 2xSHA256, it's unlikely it will affect anything. And it's only good for SHA256.
1606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would you do if you generated a Bitcoin address which had 100btc in it. on: November 05, 2013, 08:41:23 PM
Why aim for 30,000 when you have DPR's personal stash of 144,000! https://blockchain.info/address/1FfmbHfnpaZjKFvyi1okTjJJusN455paPH

Ah yeah, if I found the privkey to an address with 100 coins I'd probably do the right think (kinda). However if I found the key to that address you can be pretty sure I'd transfer the whole one hundred forty four thousand to my wallet. As many of us would do, I guess.
Yes and no. If you do find an address collision that has 100btc in there, you would take them, because you know you will never find a collision ever again(talking pure bruteforce, no weak seeds).
1607  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Most difficult block vs cracking an Bitcoin addresses private key. on: November 05, 2013, 06:06:07 PM
So block 125125 was a chance occurrence yes, but if mined today that 18 billion diff mean it would be accepted?
Right. It doesn't have an 18 billion diff, but the hash value is low enough to be accepted by such a one.

It also isn't the lowest block hash yet.

Is vastly lower, and would be accepted by a difficulty of ~110,484,089,548,580.
Wow...it was news back then with block 125125, but never saw anything about this one. Still, I do believe I answered correctly given the question and the fact that I didn't know about this new block.

EDIT:Oh, apparently block 125125 would've been valid for ~35 billion difficulty. Well, my memory wasn't right apparently.
1608  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Most difficult block vs cracking an Bitcoin addresses private key. on: November 05, 2013, 02:50:26 PM
I think the highest difficulty block was block 125125, 18 billion or something. Not sure how it would help though. I mean block hashing does involve SHA256 and so does address generation, but with address generation, there are more stuff involved.
1609  Economy / Speculation / Re: breakout or fakeout? on: November 05, 2013, 01:21:09 PM
We're at all time highs...........

So is this a breakout or a fakeout?
The all time high is 266 on Gox. Once Gox goes over 266 and Bitstamp gets near there, then we can say all time high. But in my opinion, it's the chinese that are driving the price up. Question is, will it go down ever?
1610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would you do if you generated a Bitcoin address which had 100btc in it. on: November 05, 2013, 12:03:45 AM
That's a small chance. But,, it can still happen..which kind of scares me.
If you're scared of this, then you sure as hell should stop using banks and credit cards.

Because the chance of someone guessing your credit card details, AND your online banking credentials (AND winning the Powerball twice in a row) is still much, MUCH larger than someone accidentally generating your bitcoin address.
The chance of an asteroid destroying earth or a nuclear war is way higher.
Or getting struck by a lightning...twice in a row.
Those are easy. Think of something unlikelier that is likelier than a collision.
1611  Other / Off-topic / So I wondered what it means to be a sysadmin and... on: November 04, 2013, 09:30:30 PM
And I read this article http://silverwraith.com/blog/2011/07/so-you-want-to-be-a-systems-administrator/ that pointed me to this website http://www.ipprimer.com where I can learn about TCP/IP and all that. What surprised me was, that ipprime.com has a Bitcoin donation address with a QR code... I was amazed at how much Bitcoin has grown.
1612  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best multiplayer game. on: November 04, 2013, 04:00:34 PM
What? The best game wasn't on the list.

No game is better than Arma 3. A war simulator, not even a game really. It schools CounterStrike run-and-gunners about real gunfighting.

The video linked here is long, but just check out a few mins. in the middle and see how awesome the team play is.

Whenever you gamble my friend, eventually you'll lose.
Yup. Gambled and lost 2.15 btc. Quit before you start!

1615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much to put a bitcoin flag TO DA MOON? on: November 03, 2013, 12:30:24 PM
perhaps a better and more cost effective idea would be to send and receive a bitcoin transaction on the ISS.
That could work!

All the Bitcoins in existence, pretty much.

1619  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Enable OP-Codes & Scripting? on: November 03, 2013, 01:33:42 AM
Correct me if I am wrong, but don't most op-codes already work? Isn't like OP_CHECKSIG, OP_WHATNOT already used in Bitcoin? Aren't these op-codes?? And isn't that considered "scripting"?
1620  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Google Authenticator for Windows, secure BitStamp without phone [No Install req] on: November 03, 2013, 01:28:45 AM
2 3 posts and no source code? Looks suspicious. My advice? Don't even bother downloading this.
I know I don't have a lot of posts.. But you can't blame me for that, you could at least give it a try. I did put quite some work in this.
Above that, you can always check it with your antivirus  Wink
New here and your second and third posts are posting applications without source code. With the amount of stupidity in people, anyone can take advantage of it which is why we are all skeptical.
