Is your mining pc dedicated? What's your OS?

Did you answer these questions?

Since a new version came out before I was able to get my Win7 w/49 Port Hub rebooted, again, I went with the new version 3.8.1.

So far so good.  One instance with 40 BE's and one with one Jalapeno.

Wonder if my 1 Ths BE's will recur again?
Thanks,
Sam

What Hub?
1605  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining software will not run! Help! on: November 10, 2013, 09:09:57 PM
What devices are you using?

Weee what a fun ride, not. Apologies to windows users.

Windows users having trouble try this binary instead please:
http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/temp/cgminer.exe

It's working on the Vista machine.

I'm in the process of rebooting the Win7 machine.  It takes a while.
1607  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Weekly pool and network statistics on: November 10, 2013, 08:39:27 PM
What does "CDF" stand for?
Cumulative distribution function.

Aha, well I wish I could say that was helpful.

What is the theory of operation behind that term?
Did you read wikipedia?

In short, it reflects luck. The lower it is, the better the luck is.
CDF can tell you the probability of a block being found with a given number of shares.
50% value corresponds to expected value, i.e. neutral luck.

Nope I hadn't read wikipedia.  I thought that was a Bitcoin specific term.  But reading, well looking at, the wikipedia article doesn't look too helpful since I'm not a statistician.

Your explanation does help though.
Thanks,
Sam

opentoe is no newbie. Has been around quite a while now.
1609  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: when i run the ”cgminer-nogpu.exe” with settings, it closes automatically????? on: November 10, 2013, 08:16:07 PM
when i enter the .bat with this setting,"C:\cgminer\cgminer-nogpu.exe -o [pool]:[port] -u [username].[worker] -p [password] –icarus-options 115200:1:1 –icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S //./COM3 -S //./COM4" its says " cgminer-nogpu.exe: -: unrecognized option. Then if i enter it without the current settings its starts up but it doesn't find the usb erupters.

i have all the drivers files and tried different ways of fixing it but to no avail, on a win 7 am trying on cg miner 3.7 and 3.1. thank you for your time Smiley

The serial drivers and icarus timings are required for CGMiner 3.1.1 and earlier.

CGMiner 3.7 does not use the serial driver but the WinUSB drivers.  You can install the WinUSB drivers easily with the Zadig utility.  Read the ASIC Readme with CGMiner.  Also on the newer versions of CGMiner the "-icarus" command line options are no longer needed.

Started BFG miner 3.4.0 and it just hangs there does not recognizes any devices, also keeps saying I either have wrong URL and no workers setup.  I check to see if something change because I have been mining with BTC guild for about 3 months.  Also I check CG miner and it says I do not have the right credentials, not detecting devices either.  I would like to thank anyone in advance for help me with this problem.

Post in BTCGuilds thread and/or email Eleuthria to see if your account got banned or IP Address filtered by mistake.

... people must be pressing F5 lots on this forum Cheesy ...

Yes I was about to edit and add ...

If on the other hand it is indeed returning mostly rubbish results, it will affect the calculations of the hash rate also.
The good old saying: garbage in garbage out.
Yes the driver is not designed to correct the 'garbage in'

Aside: I do have a long standing TODO: comment in the code ...
https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer/blob/master/driver-icarus.c#L1204
and the line after it.
But that is to do with timing mode also.

When you say "But that is to do with timing mode also." do you mean overriding the default timings?  Or that the default timings may be an issue as well?

I had two more BE's start reporting GHash rates overnight with 3.7.2.

But i want to tell "What To Use", no "To use what is in not in use".
When i plug the 6USB Erupter, CGMiner stops work if i'm working with the Bitburner.

Well like my daddy always used to say "want in one hand and crap in the other and see what fills up first" Smiley

Check the advanced USB options and see if there is a --usb command that does it the way you want it to.  I tell my instances what I don't want them to use and how many of the devices that I do want them to use.

To tell it to use 6 BE's use
"--usb ICA:6,<furydrivernamehere>:1"

I don't know the bitburner interface type/drivername.
1615  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER ASIC FPGA miner monitoring fanspeed RPC linux/win/osx/mip/arm/r-pi 3.8.0 on: November 10, 2013, 06:12:13 PM
New release: Version 3.8.0, 10th November 2013
in keeping with even number releases sounding more stable.

I can't remember the last time, if there was one, when I used .0 version for any length of time.

3.8.0 doesn't work for me either.  Here is the text from a Vista 32 bit machine

Hi guys, i'm running CGMiner under Windows 7.
I have 1 Bitburner Fury and 6 USB Erupter
With command i must use to tell CGMiner to use Only Bitburner Fury or Only 6 Usb Erupter?

Thank you  Grin

To tell it not to use BE's use
"--usb ICA:0"

Read the advanced usb options in the readme for the proper name for the other device plus many more useful options.
1617  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Alternatives to Zadig for Windows Block Erupter driver? on: November 10, 2013, 05:26:37 AM
In Device Manager.

I guess I'd better backup everything - I don't really trust System Restore. Thanks for the tip!

Deleting a device in device manager doesn't delete the driver per se.  You should just be able to unplug the erupter and plug it back in.  That should have no bearing on Zadig being able to run either.

Restoring a restore point doesn't change any user files.  Just the registry settings for an application/device driver that was installed.
1618  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [Guide] Noob guide to solo mining USB Erupters with cgminer on: November 10, 2013, 04:51:49 AM
By far this is the best guide I've seen for this.  I just got my $10 lottery stick in the mail.  I clicked on the zadig link and it says I dont have permission to access the file.

I got that too.  I had already downloaded it on another machine.

Post a note on the CGMiner thread so tha ckolivas can look into it.
1619  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Alternatives to Zadig for Windows Block Erupter driver? on: November 10, 2013, 04:47:15 AM
How did you "delete" the driver?

The Zadig utility creates a restore point.  So do a system restore and try again.
