1601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where Will Bitcoin Be In 2 Years? on: March 04, 2015, 02:57:26 PM
This year's benefit will be % rise in merchant adoption. If there isa significant rise with the merchants, users will follow...

Yup.
There will be a lag effect, but users and bitcoin's price will subsequently increase.
1602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Startups Bring Rebittance Service to Argentina and Mexico on: March 03, 2015, 04:18:56 PM
Anyone have any stats, or links to such, showing the use of bitcoin for remittances? Everyone seems to agree it is a great idea, and news like this looks very good for bitcoin adoption. But I don't hear much about the degree to which foreign workers are actually making use of it, or planning to (and explanations as to why they have not yet done so, etc.)

Once people start using it for remittances, they will also be more likely and interested in using it directly for payments without the bother of converting back to fiat. So a wave of remittance use could be followed by further waves of merchant acceptance and use.

There is still a long way to go before bitcoins can be spent easily in developing countries;
So fiat-->bitcoin--> fiat is the way to go now.
1603  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Extreme waste of electricity on: March 03, 2015, 04:17:29 PM
In the future, mining farms will move to areas like Iceland where electricity can be cheaply generated.
The market will find the most efficient method.

Bitcoin and Porn: An Extraordinary Mix
http://bitforum.info/t/bitcoin-and-porn-an-extraordinary-mix/284

I really don't know that porn sites are allowing bitcoin payment.

Well, anyone here knows other 'unusual' sites who are accepting bitcoin as payment?

There are still currently a few of the sites who are accepting bitcoin.
Honestly, porn accepting bitcoin will be a big thing in the future.

Most porn sites do accept bitcoin.
It is a natural fit. Smiley

People think when they purchase something, they own it and should retain all control over it eh? Own a cell phone? A car? Property?
Not agreeing with those who want to control what you buy...just saying don't be naive; there is precious little that we buy that we have total control over.

Hopefully we have total control over our bitcoins.  Smiley
1606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi donate some of the 1.500.000 bitcoins for Greece! on: February 28, 2015, 01:16:13 PM
I dunno, Satoshi hasn't been paid for his invention yet. So maybe the first thing he would need is to get paid. Possibly collect royalties first. Everything else is yet to be considered.

Royalties..?
It is open source man.  Smiley
1607  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting On Cricket World Cup [Help Me Bet] on: February 28, 2015, 08:26:10 AM
It is possible if UAE scores alleast 170 runs. If they only score 100, then its obvious that no century will be scored.

Yup. The odds are more on UAE collapsing than an Indian batsman scoring a century.  Grin

lol sometimes i bet at the middle of the game just to ensure some winning chance but id pay attention for the odds too, tho all thing can happen, but atleast i got more chance to win  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Yes. At this point nobody will bet on an Indian batsman scoring a century.  Tongue
UAE are 78/9 and is threatening a sub-100 score.
This will be the first time India has dismissed any team for less than 100 in the world cup.

When you are in Rome, do as Romans do.
She isn't in Saudi Arabia.

"The job description you are trying to view is no longer available."
I wish I could get the chance to really read the full description of the job posting on their website. Anyway, these shows that crypto currencies are certainly changing the way business is conducted and bitcoin in particular. There is no denial that bitcoin is going to be big some day and I mean if one do not improve and leveraging the potential to hire the right people and remain competitive, there's an every chance one would get left behind.

ha ha...
Maybe they wanted to hire somebody without the press coming to know about it.  Smiley
1611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can Bitcoin fail? on: February 28, 2015, 07:38:37 AM
As long as demand is present, there is no way that bitcoin will fail. And also, if the miners shut down their miners at the same moment, transactions cannot be processed, and thus disabling the network as a whole.

That's what even I was thinking, that if all of a sudden, all the miners shutdown their miners and the txns stop processing, won't it be considered as failure to the whole BTC network as what will make it run if the difficulty suddenly decreases and (not at all possible but) reaches to 0? How will the Blockchain work? Is there any backup by the Foundation?

Well, I definitely know one miner who won't shut down operations. Smiley
Number of miners coming down will increase the chances of a 51% attack, but definitely won't mean the end of Bitcoin.

"Ripple, Stellar, and Altcoins are all a distraction. Bitcoin is way too far ahead. We should be focused on bitcoin and sidechains"

Seems he is a bitcoin maximalist!

I see his point. Bitcoin has the better chance of success compared to any other altcoins. It even has a better chance of success of all other existing altcoins combined.

People are still waiting for that one bright idea.
The altcoin which can emerge as a bitcoin killer.
That is why they keep investing in alts.

Everyone most use there brain and don't put yourself in a position for this to happen to them.

Yup. Even if your partner is insistent, you should be firm. If he/she still doesn't understand, it may be best to let him/her go.  Smiley
1614  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Putin Critic Shot Dead at Kremlin on: February 27, 2015, 11:34:13 PM
While there are a lot of countries where political assassinations do happen, I am surprised to see it happening in Russia.
1615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin and Not a better improved crypto? on: February 27, 2015, 11:32:33 PM
Unless someone come with a total new idea like Satoshi did , any Alternative coin will be a total failure .
They are basically all cheap copies and Bitcoin is unique and original . that simple

Cheap coins with much lower processing power and hence lower network society.
No wonder that the combined market cap of alts is lower than Bitcoin's market cap.
1616  Economy / Speculation / Re: Damn, just bought 0.25 btc and now it's tanking! on: February 27, 2015, 11:28:45 PM
It never misses... Every time I buy, btc price drops right after. Why do I even try???

Was it just a coincidence? Or is it your fate? LOL. Well it happens. Just to be sure, don't sell at a loss. At least try to get back and cover up what you spent.

OP's luck isn't that bad after all.
Another few jumps like the current one and he would be jumping with joy.  Smiley
1617  Economy / Speculation / Re: what just happened .. and why now ? on: February 27, 2015, 11:26:06 PM
i will buy back in when we break 666. anything else are just fluctuations within the continued bear market.
You will buy in when the price is higher than now? You will buy in when you can get less coins than you could now? Why?

He believes $666 could indicate the real breakout.
If we take a long time to cross $666, other asset classes could give better returns.
If we cross $666 quickly, he believes that the rise above $666 could be even quicker.

Think of it as the equivalent of a "stop-loss" in the reverse direction.
1618  Economy / Speculation / Re: Least volatile week in a year? on: February 27, 2015, 11:20:49 PM
How long does the price been like this?  We've been sitting around the $244-$250 price range for the previous week and I think it's even more stable than this week.

The price is breaking up, it could go to 300$ this week end!

A bull run is definitely around the corner.
$300 could be crossed in no time.  Smiley
1619  Economy / Speculation / Re: Too fast for the dumpsters on: February 27, 2015, 11:19:38 PM
Some are questioning why this current spike in price hasn't been followed by a dump. It is quite clear that this wasn't a pump and dump. It was one person buying a lot in a short period of time. A period so short that few dumpsters had the opportunity to ride the wave. Had the price increase been slower then the dumpsters would have joined in the buying only to dump later.

If the dumpsters had joined, the price rise would have been much sharper.
So while we definitely would have been more happy looking at the price increase, our joy would have been short lived.
1620  Economy / Speculation / Re: TO THE MOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on: February 27, 2015, 04:34:29 PM
Guaranteed to go to the moon!!!
Here's the proof.
The average daily increase, over the past day, is 7%. We are now in the run up to Easter, where stable increases are the norm.
So, 7% increase each day until Easter equals..... 1,200%!!!!!
That means BTC > USD 3,000 by Easter guaranteed!!!
Fill yer boots

The "proof" is very believable.  Grin
