Just to follow up on my post, look here at the average block size for the last 30days by pool. I think this gives you a good idea of the ethical pools vs selfish ones.

Mining pool   Average size
Solo CKPool       997,415
Kano CKPool      913,563
BitMinter            776,757
BitFury              764,694
myBTCcoin Pool  749,260
NiceHash Solo    749,069
KnCMiner           698,215
21 Inc.              660,633
BW.COM            653,842
BitClub Network 652,797
AntPool             643,672
F2Pool              577,282
BTCChina Pool   576,451
ghash.io           559,856
Unknown          535,832
slush                 527,274
Eligius             431,685

Ok, the dudes making the mining software come out on top. Best of the rest is closer to antpool than Kano. While Bitcoin dev Luke-Jr's pool is last.

Mining at Kano would be to support a certified asshole. Bitminter? Sure, go ahead. Difficulty should be stabilizing soon. The others inbetween? Meh...

This, however, doesn't show who's mining empty blocks. There are lots of different reasons why miners won't mine full blocks. I would be careful with moralizing on technical issues like this.

Where are we at, are people just pretending Toomin-Coin is still happening?

As far as I can see (read) Chinese mining pools have rejected it & shown their support for Core?

Can we add Toomin-Coin to the list of failed take overs?

Chinese mining doesn't rejected Classic. This is just FUD from C0re people.

Good to hear from you! I've found nothing of substance in this regard. Can you definitively deny that there is something to this rumour?

I think this is a bit part of it : https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/41zitw/aaron_van_wirdum_on_twitter_confirmed_chinese/

Ok, I've seen that one. Some journalist and some guy translating some text. I guess I'll just have to wait.

What is there for me to acknowledge? His defence of Bitcoin was, as I said, woolly. It can be read different ways by different people. But at the very least Bitcoin Classic and Bitfury has reached some kind of overlapping consensus on the urgent need for a 2MB hard fork. That announcement was very precise. As long as people agree on the technical implementation they don't need to agree about every little thing or thought regarding Bitcoin.

Ok, we either fundamentally disagree with the principles being contradictory or you simply do not want to discuss the details I outlined. I'll respect your position and move on to other topics.

This whole thing started with you wanting Bitfury to be classified as "neutral" when they clearly aren't. I pointed this out and you started pushing me on the internal consistency of Bitfury's decision. Although I guess this can be debated from here to the Himalayas, I don't see how this will change the fact that Bitfury has publicly announced that they will pursue a 2MB block size with Bitcoin Classic.

@lambie You know me, nerds are easy prey.

? ? ?

Are you slow or something?

I am not the CEO of Bitfury.

Here: https://mobile.twitter.com/valeryvavilov/status/688054411650818048

Troll Valery instead.

I am not trolling you or insinuating that you know his mind. This is the speculation forum where we discuss data and speculate upon it. I am asking for your opinion on why Bitfury gives a nod of support and than shortly after attacks most of the principles that support the implementation he gave a nod of support to.

Do you have an opinion on this or do you believe the list of statements I laid out don't fundamentally undercut XT/BU/Classics principles?

Or is this merely an issue you prefer not to discuss because you rather not acknowledge it? If so, I will happily leave you alone and apologize for upsetting you.

@Bitusher What are you talking about? I want BIP101. But nobody gives a shit about what I think. Bitfury obviously wants a 2MB Block Size Cap without burning too many bridges.

Almost Everyone wants an effective 2MB block capacity. You aren't making any distinctions.

So You are you suggesting the Classic supports those statements from Bitfury?

Here is a hint-

1|Jonathan Toomim:2016-01-20 07:11:29:i have misgivings about the vision of the fee market as a way to pay for mining, and i think that fee market + lightning would be terrible for earning fees as a miner

I guess a hard fork from 1MB to 2MB isn't considered "abrupt" by Valery.

What gives you that indication? A nod of support and a long article directly refuting most of Classic's principles?

Your conclusion might be a bit premature. Bitfury is about to roll out its latest chips. If P2Pool's share decreases, along with the smaller ones, Bitcoin Classic might have +80% by the end of February.

Now, if we could get a confirmation of the defection rumours all of this is moot of course.

Yet, we should indeed have a neutral stance on bitfury at the moment because with one breath they give a nod to classic , and another long article they attack all of the principles that support classic.

You can if you want to. One is a woolly defence of Bitcoin in general while the other is a firm announcement of support. Things can change due to other events, but atm I see no need to class them as "neutral". Then again, it doesn't matter how I view them, the proof is in the pudding.
1610  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 21, 2016, 01:13:08 PM
What percentage of the mining pool is represented by "Haobtc, OKCoin, Bitmain, Bither, LIGHTNINGASIC" ?

The context was Chinese mining pools. With the list above and F2Pool which already made a deal with core a couple days ago(evidence provided earlier)... I see BTCC and BW mining missing which is ~20% global hash rate or around 2/3rds of Chinese mining pools  indicating they are sticking with core(If we are to believe the sources) and the remaining Chinese pools having an unknown position.

F2P deal with Core? You mean 2Mb in April 2017?  Do you know what they actually meant when they said that, knowing that Classic was going ahead in a timeframe a fraction of that?

better start reading the whole fckn conversation. wang clearly states that he is in favor of 3months before any softfork and he wants at least one year before any hardfork. that pretty much puts classic to the grave.

I saw that the backlog of payouts finally was cleared from my antpool page and I found them in my wallet as separate transactions from the dates they were supposed to be sent. It looks like the transactions were just stuck in the transaction backlog on the Bitcoin network.

Confirmed: Chinese mining pools are sticking with Bitcoin Core.

Context and more details? I knew it was coming from the conversations , but just didn't expect it this quickly.

You are incredulous or simply lack details of the announcement? Aaron van Wirdum is a respected journalist so I would give a little credence to his announcement and wait to verify.

Yeah, let's do that "wait to verify" thingy.

But it becomes clear that he has something else in mind:

1|Jonathan Toomim:2016-01-20 10:05:39:i think the majority of devs want to work on the majority coin, and won't want to play chicken once it's clear which one that is

1|Guy Corem:2016-01-20 10:06:04:Isn't competition good ?

1|Guy Corem:2016-01-20 10:30:04:And see that it's not hat terrible (my believe, not core), they'll do it more often Wink

The opening gambits made it clear that this was not going to go pleasantly. But considering his meticulous approach and questioning style, I fell he comprehensively failed to fluster JT, and simply became angry at the end. I think he tried to tease out some statement from JT that all hell would break loose during a HF, but couldn't make that point stick - JT shut him down pretty well.

How many times did he say "I'll get to that later" (which is code for "I know nothing more on that topic") ?

tl;dr It shouldn't have happened.

As you've said earlier I think JT did pretty good as well, and it does shine a light on much of what happened.  But I would prefer it if the guy on the other end was someone closer to Core willing to speak more openly. Not friggin Guy Corem. This just shows that Bitcoin Classic is open. We knew that.

1|Guy Corem:2016-01-20 09:30:41:indeed

So we have been buying alt-coins for the last 4 years according to Mr. Cohen.

I'll stop now as I'm bored as you probably are.

Still, I think Toomim did prety good, for someone with no legal/PR training.

It's clear that Toomin assumed Guy Corems stated objective was the real goal of the conversation and accepted it.

It took a while before I noticed that it wasn't some Guy Core, but Guy Corem. That's the Spondoolies-Tech CEO who's been running a campaign against dogie here on BCT. So I skipped to the end and, lo and behold, he did as he always does. He held his hand all the way down the long corridor and stabbed him in the heart. I would take anything brg444 says with a pinch of salt as he completely lacks objectivity.

without bitfury and f2p, classic has no chance to reach even 50%.

Where does it say Bitfury supports this?

Bitfury said already yesterday that they wont support Classic.
