Unfortunately there are plenty of people out there who think their interpretation of religion is the only correct one and they are willing to kill others based on that belief. Some of them are relatively smart, working in government jobs and industry. Motivations vary. Not what I mean. What I mean is that our current Western civilization is weak and fragile. It would be so easy to crash it down but they don't. Why? Few elements leading me to wonder this:
-All major terrorist attacks are used as an opportunity by the governments. Bataclan attack, 9/11... They're used to distract the people from important economic and political questions. To add even more regulation and control in daily life. To monitor private data.
Governments role is to regulate and collect tax. Is it different anywhere? One's could argue it is not the role of a government. The role of a government is to apply the People Will. Fact is that they use such attacks to manipulate those people and to make them forget about real problems. |

What I am questioning here is the existence of independent organisations.

But give me 15 men and 10k$ and I'll put the whole France down on its knees. 150 men and 200k$ and it will be the Europe that will cry like a baby.
But no. They only do few spectacular attacks when people are starting to question the government.

I had 357 magnum S&W revolver and it was fun, but the long barrel and the kick was not something I'd recommend. My wife could not shoot 357 with one hand. .45ACP, .40 or even 9mm are much better for other people in your family to learn and become proficient shooters. 9mm hollow points in 147gr would leave a nasty wound, and would kill as well as .45ACP. But 357 has this "Dirty Harry" look. Any intruder will freeze at the sight of 357 cocked magnum revolver  Sad. Ban guns and upgrade our baseball bats to make them more lethal weapons. Everyone will be entitle to one baseball bat per household. Cops will have the more lethal version with spiked 6" nails protruding like a death wish. Students will have a less deadly version but can still justify a few broken bones if needed.
I don't see the use of lethal weapons really. Do you really need to blow someone's head off or would a few broken bones suffice?
When one gets to the point of needing self defense, the situation is utterly serious and it would be unwise for most people to be making less than a 100% effort to defend themselves. Bonking a home intruder on the head with a frying pan makes for good comedy on TV but has a very good chance of working out poorly for the defender in real life. Arguments for less-than-lethal ammo can be made both ways (and have on this thread.) I personally still keep that as an option, but it is mostly because my biggest threats are against large animals which I don't normally wish to kill, and I can switch over in less than one second. As long as I can keep my head together in an emergency situation which hopefully I'll never be in. Yeah better make it legal to own lethal weapons. It will help the whole population and make it easier both for criminals and good citizens to kill each other. Great. |
