An acquaintance accidently clicked on the link. What is the risk of his PC being infected? Does anybody know what he should do?
Gee you have to ask? Its like you do an escort on craigslist bareback and then ask..... what is the risk of having STD? Hint for virgins like you, if an escort doesnt care doing it bareback, shes already infected! that is what I thought. Will tell him he should never touch his BTC from that PC ever, again... LOL what? its like telling him never have sex again after infected with STD? You tell him remove ethernet device on that PC and export priv key then import that private key to a new wallet. Dont bother using the old wallet on that PC. Then move all BTCs to a cold storage. Reformat the HD and use the PC again, this time not being dumbed again.

i dont understand why ppl even have theories about this fiasco.... seriously....

yes you do make really valid points there, but again who though that bitcoin could go to $1000 in one year when buying at $10 ....
It took $6.8 billion to get from $10 to $500. It would take $63 billion to get to $5000/Bitcoin. A lot of people are counting on Wall St. and institutional investors to make that happen, but $63 billion is A LOT of money, even for Wall St. How likely is it that investors will come up with $63 billion to put into a speculative currency? Do you really believe it took $6.8 billion to get to $500? LOL. I find it hard to believe you believe this. Why not? after all he sold all his coins .... after mtGox fiasco Doesnt sound like hes smart to me. His math and "analysis" is comparable to a 5 yrs old....

Op, i wish your entire family a horrible death. You're a scum and your parents are scum littering. Every night i pray to god, ppl like you will suffer the rest of their lives.
You should also light some candles along with your prayers , after you have dumped a gallon of gas on him. that would be too easy for him..... not suffering enough. Fraudsters and thieves are worst sin of all.

LOL isnt this pointless? I mean if the users got passphrase stolen, says bye to the coins?
Thats not what "cold wallet" means. The thief must get your wallet AND passphrase. With this, its simpler easier now.

I know one person who spent $500 on those Gox coins.
Hell, I'll be honest though, if the price dropped to $10, I probably would've tried buying some.
You're the perfect example of greedy pigs. If the price is that low , then it even means something is wrong. Its not about risk management, its about stupid greedy gamblingand we all know how that turns out. What if i open an exchange, make the site looks "so nice and modern" that has btc priced at $10, would you send me money? I'm actually glad idiots whos trying to buy btc at $100 lost all their money. They're never bitcoiners, just bunch of parasites who cares about profits and MONEY, fiat money. Yes it is a gamble, but so is supporting the Bitcoin protocol (which I am proud to support and proud to be a community member of). And yes, sure it may be "greedy" but it's also a calculated risk based on a history (albeit very clouded) of them having gotten out of stupid catastrophes in the past. The reason why I would go and snatch up a few coins in at such a "low" value is because in a sense, when the disparity is that significant (50:1) it's essentially a niche prop bet. At least in my eyes. I'm sorry that my post impassioned you in the wrong manner; that was not my intent whatsoever. I was just being frank and candid about how at that type of disparity, the "gambling itch" would kick in for me as I think it would for many others. I did not in any way mean to downplay, ridicule, or justify the losses of others; nor did I mean to imply how "good" it would be to attempt to take advantage of a situation like this. Calculated risk huh? ... why do gamblers like to use that as their fancy reason for gambling. Also supporting bitcoin is same as gambling?.... are you serious bitch? Just admit it bitch, it was pure greed that blinded you and all you cared was profits. You would dump those coins like bitches on other exchanges as soon as you got a chance.

Hey, i'm not the idiots that lost money. Greedy much bitch? Then why are you in this thread, sadism issues much? To laugh at idiots like you ...bitch. Gatorage me bitch

Blockchain.INFO does not know about your address, but as soon as you send a deposit, it sees you sent X bitcoins to address X. Bitcoin has a public ledger, everyone can see to an extent where bitcoins go.
Ahh alright, that makes perfect sense. So essentially, if you're using a cold storage method of a paper wallet and generate the address and private key offline and print it, you should be all set? Yup Thats how everyone should be doing. We're having many great projects ahead such as Trezor that would help removing fiction for having a cold storage.

I have come across many posts and threads talking about things like wallet trojens, wallet Stealers etc. I know what they do obviously their end motive will be taking the money out of my wallet leaving it empty. But I want to know how they target and attack users what are the common scenarios through which a person can end up compromising their wallet so in future I can take care of the things if I know how they trap users.
Thanks
Mod note: this is a troll, don't delete your wallet.dat without safely backing it up in more than one place, and verifying whether the backup works. First delete your wallet.dat.
Copy your blockchain folder to a USB drive and store safely. Delete your block folder.
When you need to spend your coins just cp your block folder back to your bitcoin folder, open bitcoin-qt and spend.
No joke, its the safest way. No one can steal your coins.
