16062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT vs BitsharesX on: August 24, 2014, 12:11:22 AM
bitassets won't come out until Monday last I heard and NXT is already planning their own equivalent / counter.  NXT as far as I care has a more extensive ecosystem and more developers.

The difference I think is BitsharesX is extremely popular in China (99% comes from Chinese exchanges and 80% is Yuan-BTSx) while NXT is more international.   BTSx almost doesn't register on the internet compare to its' activity in China.

I think NXT is more secure and stable than BitsharesX.

BitsharesX lives and dies at the hands of the Chinese private funds.  Do you really want to invest huge amounts into BitsharesX this very minute if some guy in China can type a few numbers on a keyboard and send the capitalization down to $5 million?    Huh  That's like being a Bitcoin bagholder who bought at $1200 - a lot of them were bullish until the dump from China.

Heck it would be a disaster if the Chinese Government reacted and bans BitSharesX - *poof* that's 99% of BitsharesX activity gone overnight.

i like your thought process.  and that could indeed be it.  but keep in mind, it's still a buyer's market.  you think chinese private funds would settle for a little profit by dumping now?  it only has begun.

16064  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Millionaires Should Look More into P2P Energy Grids on: July 24, 2014, 05:58:44 AM
Why not just produce your own electricity.

exactly!

from the OP:  The P2P Energy grid is a concept whereby any home could produce its own energy, using renewable energies like solar energy, and sell its surplus to others who need it.

... and it would be awesome to see a bitcoin mining company that is fully self sufficient producing it's own power.  and even better.. it sells its surplus power to other miners.
16065  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Millionaires Should Look More into P2P Energy Grids on: July 24, 2014, 05:57:32 AM
These ideas are great. They problem is that the technology simply isn't there yet. In my area we are forced to subsidize windmill power. The ugly windmills that ruin the view of the mountain tops around my town run at about 30% capacity over 50% of the time. We actually end up paying more for our power to support these wind mills.

then maybe it's time for the btc millionaires to band together and fund an R&D team for it and start a p2p electricity industry and diversify.
16066  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Millionaires Should Look More into P2P Energy Grids on: July 23, 2014, 04:20:39 AM
P2P Energy Grid

The P2P Energy grid is a concept whereby any home could produce its own energy, using renewable energies like solar energy, and sell its surplus to others who need it.

"Microgrids are “a collection of small generators for a collection of users in close proximity,” explains Dr Markvart, whose research appears in the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Ingenia magazine. Microgrids’ premise is that electricity demand is split up and shared around the network of users, much like BitTorrent file sharing. “This microgrid appears to the larger grid as if it’s any other customer. And it can quickly switch between operating on and off the grid: when the grid offers cheap electricity, the microgrid can purchase it, but if prices rise or there’s a power failure, the microgrid can isolate itself. ” (http://www.ivanenviroman.com/2007/03/08/microgrids-are-p2p-electricity/)

16068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DOGECOIN - INCREASE IN VALUE on: July 13, 2014, 09:08:41 AM
a crypto 2.0 project just might use dogecoin as its main currency.  not entirely sure, just a hunch.

hoping an announcement comes out soon.
16069  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEM is a SCAM. :'o( on: July 13, 2014, 09:04:39 AM
I feel sorry for the guy. Without him, there would have been no NEM. If he hadn't made that one silly mistake (forgetting to log off), all of this would never have happened. Sad

wait wait.. what silly mistake?  and what happened?
16070  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT innovation -gets a special mention at the end of my Crypto educational Blog on: July 01, 2014, 12:14:58 AM
that's too bad...  some people won't be holding nxt when it reaches dollar parity because of this thread.
16071  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why the people creates a lot of alt coins? on: June 29, 2014, 01:57:30 PM
That's one question I don't understand
I see there are thousands of alternative coins and most of them are forgotten or just not being used anymore.

Any logic reason?

profit.

16073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Doge game over? on: June 29, 2014, 12:20:54 PM
doge is a perfect medium to build poker/gambling sites on.  people are more willing to part from it due to its inflationary model.

i think doge pker sites should make it possible for people to buy doge from them using credit cards.

Winklevoss twins: Bitcoin will be bigger than Facebook. The brothers, two of the most influential players in a new generation of investors, say bitcoin will encourage financial openness.

coming from the winklevoss twins, that statement is lol.
16076  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Original Slashdot Bitcoin Article on: June 29, 2014, 12:06:51 AM
It definitely was Amir Taaki as Genjix on poker forums. He used to play.

He was telling people to buy bitcoin but unfortunately for him(and lots of others including me somewhat) he sold his coins ultra cheap a very long time ago. Not sure where he stands now, but he was living in an abandoned building not too long ago. Sad

Hopefully his situation has improved.

yup. this is true. i also heard some of his traveling adventures in asia(?) where he ran out of money and had to borrow from his poker player buddies.  his best friend in the poker world is 'stealcity', if stealcity stuck with genjix all these years, getting involved and funding his projects i would think he will become a billionaire too.  for a young guy stealcity has a lot of cash as he was a highstakes poker player.

16078  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs to clean up it's reputation - Support the good cause. on: June 28, 2014, 01:45:51 PM
what bitcoin should be doing is support renewable energy by setting up and funding a R & D team on it.

No. The market should support renewable energy... And who exactly is this bitcoin?

yup. this is what i meant.  the bitcoin millionaires specifically.
16079  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Original Slashdot Bitcoin Article on: June 28, 2014, 01:15:32 PM
yup could be him.  i know he is british with a middle eastern background as mentioned here:  http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/analysis-and-features/meet-the-worlds-next-billionaires--from-mashables-pete-cashmore-to-bitcoin-renegade-amir-taaki-9042710.html

congrats to him.
16080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Original Slashdot Bitcoin Article on: June 28, 2014, 01:12:40 PM
i remember a guy with the screen name 'genjix' preached bitcoin to a community of poker players back in 2010, encouraging them to invest.  nobody took him seriously, including me.  fuck me.

Amir Taaki, libbitcoin  author, dark wallet dev etc etc. He also has an active accout here on btctalk with the same handler

it could be him. ask him if he used to play online poker and if he used to go to liquidpoker.
