That 3900x is a beauty (on paper anyway).  I have a feeling it's going to be rather popular once Monero finishes their fork to RandomX.

With  no tweaking or turning it does  1090-1125 for xmr    running at 67%

this is it with 2 1660ti

https://old.nicehash.com/miner/1JdC6Xg3ajT3rge3FgPNSYYFpmf53Vbtje

I have been busy have not tested it much the last day.

But  It is a  better then the threadripper 1920x

It uses 2.4 kwatts a day to earn 45 cents.

while that seems poor it is turning a profit of 21cents  I think  the new fork will help that alot.
16182  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 on 2x 110v question on: August 13, 2019, 11:36:21 PM
I gave you a merit  for posting the photo.  as for photo the ground on the board it is a meaningless reference. for your purposes.

what matters is as follows..

all your black wires on all your pcie cables  that go into the break out board are on  the side that has the clip

and all your black wires  on all your pcie cables that go into the miner are on the side  that has the clip

look at this thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2215578.0

mine are black and yellow

but the good wires are all  black to clip   and   yellow to no clip

you would be black to clip  and white to no clip

photo it before you turn it on.

since you want 2 psu's

you should  just  use 1 psu  and do 2 boards  with the controller

show us that photo

one of us will say it is good. or bad.

or to the moon and I am completely wrong Wink

trump announced he would postpone some of the new tariffs .   Not sure about mining gear.

But 25% + 2.6

would be better then a jump to 35% + 2.6

Info changes constantly. A very fast world we are in.
16184  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Gear Pricing just becomes more irrational then ever on: August 13, 2019, 10:01:17 PM
s9 have been actively replaced s9 for a while. I would expect well run larger farms already cycled out most of their older gear.

Sure some has cycled out.

My small farm is 680th newer  220th s9

But I think  not as much as you may think

diff is 9.9 soon to be 10.2

when we were mostly all s9   diff got to  7.8 in october

so a lot of s9  are mining at the moment

we peaked at 57 eh in october

we have now hit some 83 eh 1 day peaks

that means  57 + 26 = 83

more likely

50 + 33 = 83
16185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I purchased a new ryzen amd ryzen 9 3900x pc. try this again. on: August 13, 2019, 09:27:22 PM
Okay I set the amd 9 3900x to do nicehash xmr

And I am running 2 Rtx 1660ti  at x16r

About 48 cents on the cpu. 1124 hash

About 125 cents on the 2 x16r

So 1.73 a day. Uses around 333 watts or 8 kwatts a day.

That is about 80 cents for my winter power costs.

So it clears 93 cents with early testing.
16186  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If you have 2000$ USD. Where you invest? on: August 13, 2019, 09:16:48 PM
50% cash
50% btc

Reevaluate in 30 days.

If btc drops 10% or more buy more with the 1000 cash.  Buy 500 more.

Reevaluate in 30 days

If btc drops 10% or more buy more with the 500 left.  Buy 250 more

Reeevaluate in 30 days if btc drops 10% or more buy the last 250.

If btc does not drop.  And goes up up up. Just stay at 1000 in btc and 1000 in cash.

Until the btc you held is worth 2000 at that point sell 1000

Put it with the first 1000 you held giving you 2000

And 1000 in btc.  Just hold that as it is all profit.
16187  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Advice on what miners to get if electricity cost little to nothing? on: August 13, 2019, 09:06:50 PM
I'm trying to get into mining, so far I have a S17 coming soon, hopefully in a week. Aside from that I'm looking at getting some other miners. I have a location I can set these miners up in a maintenance like room, so noise wouldnt be a bother. The cooling on the other hand have to figure out. Also space might be an issue I can't take up too much.

Anyways I was trying to look at miners that aren't necessarily efficient due to the electricity. I looked Ebang E10.3 24th but didn't realize it takes 2 PSUs which means 2x the cables for power. To me feels like it might take up but I'm not sure.

I'm looking to get 4-5 miners at the beginning but I am so indecisive. I keep finding one I like but then decide no because I may not know everything before I buy. Anyone mind sharing some of you wisdom please?

Let me decide for you.  Use the s17 and just mine with it.  No miner is worthwhile at the inflated prices offered.

You have a quality piece of gear use it for a month learn how to mine with it.  Then make a move.

As a suggestion run at mid speed not turbo.

Yeah the diff is 9.9 t not 6.3 t
16189  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 One Hashboard Does Not Hash on: August 13, 2019, 02:29:36 AM
Mikey is describing a pattern of behavior that boards do for a week or two or three then die.

I have run s9s since 2016 batch one.  I have had twenty or more boards act this way then finally truly die.

Think of a person that was old and got sick quite a few times got better a few times then they die.

Not every person does that.
Not every hashboard does that.

But quite a few do this.
16190  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Gear Pricing just becomes more irrational then ever on: August 13, 2019, 01:29:43 AM
If your power deal is 50-50 coin split

Buying a pair of s9s is better then buying any new more efficient gear.

I am stuck in the USA so. All gear other then a pair of s9s is subject to the trump tax. Which moves to @ higher number in around a month.

I do not see moving from 9.9 t to 20 t in only 138 days.

Btw for me with a 50-50 coin split  the s9 does not hurt me much .

Obviously buying new gear like an s17 for 4000 simply does not work.

With trump tax it pushes 5200.

I tried it but it wouldn't boot.
Thanks,

16192  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: August 12, 2019, 06:04:41 PM
Going to try to break down math better for turbo vs normal.

Your stats will help.  Down time vs turbo gain.
16193  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: August 12, 2019, 05:20:31 PM
It happens I just found it and  posted it above.  let us know how long they take to replace it.

more warnings here

you don't understand how they measure.

a single chip with test leads  can do 30J/TH

this gear is doing 50th at 2050 watts on = normal speed  that is 41J/TH

you are doing turbo numbers  to mine on turbo speeds gives you  a little more hash and burns power like mad.

so this gear does 41J/TH using the  fans and controller  on normal speed.  I suspect fans and controller are at least 100 watts

so it is  doing about 1950/50th = 39J/TH on normal speed

In what seems like a million years ago bit fury shows its chip in a single chip setup  it did 60J/TH  which when built into a  big machine did about 100J/TH

Turbo should never be used at the moment with current coin prices.

Normal speed should be used at the moment with current coin prices.

But I am sure some can create an example that shows turbo is smart to do at the moment.

and someone refuted me here  Grin

I have metered smart switches for each circuit-PDU so the only way I could measure each cord would be to connect to two separate circuits which I'd rather not risk. Otherwise I'd need to measure with my amp-meter with a split cord which I don't have. If I can figure out how to safely do it I'll let you know.

UPDATE: I remembered I had a dual metered PDU that reports amps (in whole numbers) that I don't use that readout anymore.  So I tried one of the S17s on that so I could measure each cord separately.  It measured exactly 5 amps each on Turbo mode.  Exactly being that it only reports round numbers.  At my voltage that is around 1150 watts per cord.  But I'm sure it is 5.x not just 5 amps.  But either way, it seems to balance the load very close between the two cords.

... Turbo should never be used at the moment with current coin prices.

Normal speed should be used at the moment with current coin prices.

But I am sure some can create an example that shows turbo is smart to do at the moment.

I'd like to see your calculation/thinking.

By my profit model turbo mode makes sense currently.  But I am working with 5.4 cent electricity so that obviously will make a difference.  Simple Cryptocompare shows $8.50/day for Turbo, $7.84/day for Normal, $6.24/day for Low Power mode.  So Turbo currently makes the most profit.  I have wondered if the extra wear and tear is worth it and for that extra 8% profit and maybe not.

As energy price goes up then it would flip to where normal would win out and then low power mode.

So in your case my advice was correct and his was wrong.
16194  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: August 12, 2019, 05:02:11 PM
If you go back and look  I said anyone running them on turbo  risked  gear death.  let me find my post.

He set his range to 80 dB and I believe gear is at normal speed.

Try one of your s17s on normal speed and range at 80 dB.

As I see specs turbo looks to be really hard on  unit with not much gain in hash.

But this is not my gear as I was not able to order on in first batch. Since then I have decided to not purchase any new gear from bitmain.  I will buy used s17 from forum miners, but not from bitmain direct.
16195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I purchased a new ryzen amd ryzen 9 3900x pc. try this again. on: August 12, 2019, 04:55:49 PM
Thanks for information.
My question is that do we need such a high speed SSD?
My current build is using https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M9K0N8I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
The speed for this is see is Read/Write up to 560/520 MB/s *Performance vary by ssd model
However the one you suggested is 3 times for the $100 corsair one.

the one I used is the fastest most nvme ssd there is.

it is also   2tb in size

I then replied to you  don't buy it you almost certainly don't need that one so:

 I suggested a 1tb for 100

https://www.newegg.com/crucial-p1-1tb/p/N82E16820156199?

the one you purchased is a 128gb for 28

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M9K0N8I/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?

it is not a speed question  between the crucial and the adata it is a 1tb vs a 128gb question.

to me if it is a pc I use for a lot of stuff I do not want small size drive  as I tend to fill my pc's up  with 300gb to 1.3tb  worth of info.

Everything that is not a bitcoin is a shitcoin?

close enough
I will link you to my altcoin thread
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5144362.0
I have been running an altcoin thread for years.

Also if you want a cheap way to mine bitcoin

use a sidehack newpac

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5131245.0

many people point a newpac to  solo.ckpool.org

you have a small chance on every single block to win the entire block.

Note a very very very small chance more then 1,000,000 to one
16197  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Inquiry: Need feedback or thoughts on Love Core Aixin A1 25T on: August 12, 2019, 11:55:35 AM
it is not cheap   25 th for 1025

25th using 2300 watts

2 bitmain s9k    do  27 th and use 2500 watts cost 798 shipped to usa

you would need some psu's but they cost about 75 each on ebay

so spend  1025 plus shipping for a complete unknown item  doing 25th and 2300 watts

or spend 800 + 150 = 950 for 2 s9k  doing  27th and 2500 watts
16198  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Gear Pricing just becomes more irrational then ever on: August 12, 2019, 11:49:40 AM
yeah I could have had 10 s17 pro 53th for 22,225  would have been nice.

I ordered 1  not 10.
16199  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: US Tariff Ruling N297495 = 2.6% mandatory tariff on bitcoin mining hardware on: August 12, 2019, 02:11:02 AM
you may have to pay the 2.7%   but I can cope with that  and the 6.75% NJ state sales tax.

but 25%  + 2.7% + 6.75% = 34.45%

soon to be

35% + 2.7% + 6.75% = 44.45%

if I choose anything but the s9k.
16200  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 One Hashboard Does Not Hash on: August 12, 2019, 01:25:05 AM
You are most likely correct that it is a dying hashboard.
