1621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Creating transactions manually? on: November 03, 2013, 01:19:01 AM
I'll tell you this, I don't think I ever want to use Blockchain.INFO, something is terribly wrong with that website for people to get hacked so often even with 2factor and whatnot authentication.

I plan to try Electrum, though it uses a central server.
1622  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Google Authenticator for Windows, secure BitStamp without phone [No Install req] on: November 03, 2013, 01:14:50 AM
2 3 posts and no source code? Looks suspicious. My advice? Don't even bother downloading this.
1623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Urgent! Need to raise ~$1,200 USD in 24 hrs for South Pole expedition. on: November 02, 2013, 06:42:03 PM
Quote
Thorkil Værge, head of Sirius Money, has pledged €1,000 (6.8 BTC) to Hanneche, who is undertaking the challenge to travel alone to both poles in a single year. He also says if Hanneche manages to raise more than 15 BTC, he will carry a bitcoin flag with him, if one can be made before his departure from South Africa on November 5th
I am sure that his departure date will be a date worth remembering.

Free up some space or move the bitcoin-qt folder to a partition that does have space. If you do the latter you can start up bitcoin-qt using the datadir switch to point it to the new partition:

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Running_Bitcoin#Command-line_arguments

This approach is preferable to creating raw transactions because with raw transactions a lot of things can go wrong.
I don't have space on my drive. It's all been used up with important data. I can't free anymore.
1625  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Inquiring about making a faucet on: November 02, 2013, 09:41:48 AM
So I've been a part of the BTC community for a few months now. And lately have been inspired to peruse a project involving bitcoin.  While I'm no expert coder; I do have lots of experience with Linux and Systems in general. So I figured developing a faucet could be a good project to invest in with an obtainable brake even goal.  The reason I'm posting is to get any references or advice from those who know or have tips for such a venture.

GOALS:
> Learn more about scripting deposits to wallets based on users visits.
> Learn about revenues generated from traffic.
> Break even with investment.
> Provide a comparable & competitive service to similar ones offered.

Where are you stuck exactly?

1628  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to store and forget btc? on: November 01, 2013, 04:06:19 PM
I plan on investing 5-10k into btc and am wondering what would be the best way to store and forget about them?
1. Buy coins.
2. Send them to 1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuE.
3. You can now forget about them.
1629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mining Bitcoins should be renamed to burying. on: November 01, 2013, 02:21:24 PM
Generating Bitcoins wastes electricity

No.
Yes it does. I mined solo with my 5850 at a difficulty of 3 million at the time for several months, I didn't find a block. Was that electricity not wasted since I didn't even help the network?
Actually the system worked perfectly: it stopped a random guy with a 5850 from doing a 51% attack.
If you look at it like that, but I was asking, where did all that energy go?

@e4xit
I was not decreasing any chances. The network was not affected by my mining. It was as if I never mined.
1630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So I got a hotdog stand accepting bitcoin at the school trade fair... on: October 31, 2013, 06:33:13 PM
+1 for the gloves. Recently I developed an obsessive-compulsive disorder for washing my hands so I have to wash them from everything unclean before I enter my room or eat. Hell, I even push the door handle with my elbow as to not dirty my hand.

This is a definite + because dead skin cells don't end up on the food, but of course touching money and then the hotdog kind of ruins the point(unless of course Bitcoin is used in which case..less diseases!).

1632  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitadress.org safety concerns on: October 31, 2013, 06:08:56 PM
Nice guess but each point was way off Cheesy

It's funny to face ridicule about such safety concerns especially in the post-Snowden world.

It's also interesting to get Ad Hominems. What does it matter who I am if what I'm saying makes sense. So why don't you stick to the facts and try to defend the use of external javascript files?
Yeah, it'd be worse if Rainden also released some disturbing information.
1633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Creating transactions manually? on: October 30, 2013, 11:57:45 PM
I no longer have any space on my drive where my copy of the blockchain is, so I cannot afford to run Bitcoin-Qt anymore. What are the available ways for me to use my wallet.dat file in conjunction with some program to create a transaction manually or automatically and just send it to someone to broadcast for me?

Just to let you guys know I am not very up to speed on how to create manual transactions.
1634  Other / Off-topic / Re: What video games do you play? on: October 30, 2013, 08:21:51 PM
Started playing Mass Effect 2 yesterday. Pretty damn good game. Reminds me of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Also tried the Betrayal Alpha version. Graphics are awesome. Not so sure about the game itself yet. Killing armored spaniards with a bow and arrow sucks once they start charging you, but nice to see a game that takes place in America. Looks like woods around here.

Mass Effect series is one of the best in vg history. One of the reasons is the amount of work (and $) that went into it.
Is the story really that interesting? Never played any of the games nor Assassins Creed.
1635  Other / Off-topic / Re: Google android is still buggy dog shit. on: October 30, 2013, 08:14:35 PM
So logged into google play with non default username. You can use google play for most apps on your phone with any account you have gmail for.

However some apps it seems only work with the default account on your phone. So after adding funds to google play when trying to install a game i was presented with an error. Using google i find this error presents itself quite a bit to people and google are fully aware of it. However once you have funded an account you are screwed. They will not transfer the funds to your default account unless you have used 0 of the credit.

The most insane part of this is now apparently if i could click refund and get my funds back so it was a nice round £10 they could transfer.

but WAIT what happens when i press refund, it will not do it because it can't uninstall a game that wasn't installed correctly. So now that is impossible.

Googles solution is to just hard reset my phone. (great solution there) only had about 3 years to fucking sort this shit out.

Why not NOT allow you to purchase anything without using the default account on your phone???

Why not transfer my funds between my accounts if i fucking want to.

There are work arounds on the net, however none of them have worked. Time to buy more credit for this shit that is android.

Another annoying thing with this is that long sms are turned into mms ? even my 10 year old nokia didn't do this crap it just broke it up and sent in seperate messages.

Fuck android and their crap store.
This is why you root your phone, end of story.
Android is great compared to iOS.
I like Android, it has it's quirks, and sadly it's called Lagdroid which is sort of true in my case with my rooted SGS2 with a faster kernel, but with Jelly Bean 4.1.2, and it's a bit slow.

Downloading BF4, legit version..  Roll Eyes

Hopefully you will like it as much as I do. But almost all my friends say, hmm, not much different from BF3
Most get it for Multiplayer. I personally don't like normal non-scifi Singleplayer campaigns, which is why I prefer Fantasy/Sci-Fi games.
1637  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Help with hashes on: October 30, 2013, 06:39:52 PM
Does anyone have a method for transforming these type of characters into alphanumeric strings?
Yeah, true. You would need to get the actual bytes instead or use a modified blockparser that outputs the hash instead of those characters.

Due to the ad signature?  Cheesy
And not only, but similar post counts and dates of registrations.

Still, the image with no fees is misleading. You can choose to send without a fee, but it could end up being the worst decision ever.
