Awesome InternetApe!

Yes, that's the right one Matt, you're all set!

Hammerhedd, I think it has something to do with the x-ll algorithm not being properly retrofitted, LOL.  I'm no programmer, so I don't know how to expain Smiley
1622  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | Anonymous (pre-alpha) | CPU only | KGW | ASIC Resistant on: February 12, 2014, 06:06:35 PM
I'm trying to compile and run cpuminer in Ubuntu, and I >think< it's failing to run because I don' t have the X11 algorithm in the git pull. Everything else seems to work, but when I include "-a X11" in the command line, it tells me to type --help. If I leave the -a flag out, it connects fine via stratum, but of course all my hashes are rejected.

Where can I get it? And what do I need to do to compile and run it in Ubuntu?

Make sure you are using the miner from the web site. darkcoin.io. There is a link to the correct source there.

Sorry for the newbishness of this post -

I only see the source for the linux wallet there. Should I simply be using the wallet (-gen) to mine? I was actually trying to mine via a pool, so I was compiling the pooler cpuminer. Should I be doing something with the Qt source?

Sorry I must have missed that link on the website I will add it.

Its here: https://github.com/ig0tik3d/darkcoin-cpuminer-1.2

Thanks! You rock, and I love this coin, BTW.

I'm not a coder, but I'd like to help out in any way I can.

join Lotterypool or smalltimeminer (links on first page) so that we spread the hash around, much healthier for the coin and for all of us!

You really want to update it to https://github.com/ig0tik3d/darkcoin-cpuminer-1.2c as it's even faster and better.  Please update the first page here as well Smiley

One coin(BTC) to rule them all,

One coin to premine them;

One coin to bring them all,

And in the darkness bind them.

I'm laughing so hard!  LOL  Grin  Cheesy

And now, how about collecting a good hefty bounty for a working effective GPU miner? I'd put down up to 1000 DRK - not much but if many people donate it'll build up.

If more people are interested I could work on GPU miner for a bounty. I already have something more or less working (pools are accepting shares, also solo-mined one block this night with it), but it's still very slow (nearly 2 MH/s on Radeon R9 290). Unfortunately I can't promise it will get much faster, still working on possible optimizations.

FYI

I'll put up 1000DRK, but I want the code you have now, to prove that it is getting at least what you say.

I'll match his 1000DRK

I can definitely make a GPU miner (how fast it will be is another question, but based on the algorithms in hand, they all parallelize pretty well, so I expect it to be reasonably fast).

But a few people offering 1000DRK isn't enough incentive. It's not the money (if it was, I'd make one for myself), I just need some more detail. Have you already got someone working on a GPU miner, for instance? I don't want to put 10 hours into this only to find that you've had someone else do it.

I've been working on this one, I'm not sure it works. https://github.com/evan82/darkcoin-sgminer

My furher, how is the anonimity module coming along? We are gaining a bit of traction. The Russians are getting antsy on the Eastern front.

LOL

But please, never ever again!!! (war) [just a little prayer]

Well, as you can see, phm has says he has a working, though slow Gpu miner, so you may want to work on it together?  And our fearless leader has been working on one but it doesn't work yet.  He put a link up a while ago, just ask him,, he's also putting up for the reward!

er.. eduffield is our fearless leader ;P

thank you
http://drk.lotterymining.com
130 DRK received!

Congratulations!]

Hey  everyone!  We need more miners at http://drk.lotterymining.com!!!  The fee was reduced a long time ago and yet we still have a lottery each week!  One more week where the owner has kicked in 100 dark, so one more week for a great prize!

Spread the hash, jump in the water's great here!

also, CHAOSiTEC  has been a very active and helpful member of this community, lets build up his pool!!

Great points, will be moving my miners over today.

Awesome!  Even so we get larger payouts, being a smaller pool, I'd like to see more action, LOL.  It's really all the same in the end, though, but CHAOSiTEC put a lot of work into the pool and I'd like to see his pool grow Smiley

This is probably a painfully newb question, but how can I solo mine? Is there a flag on wallet startup?

hello, and welcome!  In the wallet, go to Help => Debug menue then open the console tab, at the bottom, enter setgenerate true and you are mining.  type in getmininginfo to see if you are mining.  This will not be zero if you are mining: "hashespersec" : 0,  There is no other feedback.

I suggest joining a pool for better odds of getting something though  Wink

Unfortunately, I found it Sad

How do I sell Linden dollars?
Linden Dollars can only be sold on Second Life's LindeX exchange.

I'm confused about what you're stuck on.  Did you get your BTC?

Maybe I am confused... Is there a way I can upload my SLL's that I already have to Virwox?

Can anyone tell me how I would go about depositing cash into C-CEX?  I have just a little bit (scraping $100 together) and want to buy a few more dark ;P  But I can't figure this out!  Please help me  Huh  Tongue  Cheesy

Think you need to get set up with payeer for that.

Ugh, it has to be transferred to rubles or something?  Can't it just stay dollars?

How about buying BTC somewhere first where you can pay with USD and then buying DRK with BTC on C-CEX?
I signed up to the account, but I don't see any place where I can sell SLL for bitcoin.  They only let you buy virtual world currency as far as I can tell.  Have you done this lately?

Tante, you might be able to get btc now through localbitcoins, ive never used it but i hear you need to be careful who you deal with.  Virwox is another place you can use a credit card at and get btc right away, but with the first purchase, when you try to transfer your btc out of their exchange they postpone it for two days.  Maybe thats changed since i last heard about it but im not for sure (which was a couple of months ago).

Oh ok, I"ll check them out Smiley  Thanks!

Haha, you remind me of back when I first started trying to get into crypto.  I tried literally all day to get some dollars into the market so I could buy a few litecoins, they were trading at 6 bucks each.  By the end of the night I still couldn't get in so I decided it wasn't in the cards and that I should just forget about it.  Checked back like two weeks later...facepalm.

Yah, I don't see how to do this, I get nervous and  Payeer is a very confusing site!  Virwox used to buy LD with BTC but linden forbade that, so it's not an option.  I said it before here, I am slow to learn each step, LOL.  I need time between firsts, LOL.  Last night, I cashed in the minute percentage of a bitcoin and litecoin  I had mined up and bought a little more darkcoin with it.  not much, LOL.  Anyways, I may have to stick with mining Sad

Someday, when trading is made easier between fiat and crypto, these coins will be worth so much  more!

With virwox you put dollars in.  Then you buy SLL.  Then you buy BTC with SLL.  They totally rip you off on the transaction fees tho.  Just looked at the site and everything seems to be running normally.

I don't see an exchange for SLL to BTC.  You can buy SLL for BTC, but not the other way around.  I think LL put an end to that almost a year ago, have you used it recently?

What is the reason for doing ASIC resistant coin and not GPU resistant? Both of them significantly rise mining entry level. GPUs less, ASICs more, but the result is the same: the majority could not afford mining on GPUs as they are too voracious, loud and expensive.

+1

It is GPU resistant, that's why it's so hard to make!  But determined people will eventually make it and by putting up a bounty, it will be shared with all.  otherwise, the person who makes it will use to grab up all the coin they can.

But if it seems that the best that can be done is 4x the speed of a CPU with a GPU costing much more than the cpu and eating much more electricity, cpu mining will still be viable. Anyway, either no one should have a gpu miner, or everyone should have it.

Exactly!  GPU may work but not much better at the  moment, and it costs more in energy Smiley  It's still going to take a while!
