So KGW is working great, the fork went off with out a hitch and now we're whale proof! So I want to move on to the next topic. A few days ago I asked if we should open source the technology or not and the vast majority of you all want it to be open source, so we're going to do that. So, that being the case earlier today in #darkcoin we were discussing the anonymous technology (An improved variant of coinjoin built into the client) and we were brain storming names for it.
Since it's going to be opensource we want to brand it, if other coins add it the users will know where it came from. So we have these ideas, we want to do a sort of poll and see what everyone likes.
Please limit your reply to your favorite name for the technology:
DarkSend DarkTransfer DarkTwister DarkXport DarkTransit DarkStep DarkTrigger Darkify Darkifier DarkForce Darkoflage Darkize DarkShroud DarkEncode DarkPool DarkPooling DarkCipher DarkJoin (as in based on CoinJoin)
(or if you think you have a better name, put that in the reply)
Thanks!
DarkCloud maybe join your namelist?I like this name.

What is the reason for doing ASIC resistant coin and not GPU resistant? Both of them significantly rise mining entry level. GPUs less, ASICs more, but the result is the same: the majority could not afford mining on GPUs as they are too voracious, loud and expensive.
+1 It is GPU resistant, that's why it's so hard to make! But determined people will eventually make it and by putting up a bounty, it will be shared with all. otherwise, the person who makes it will use to grab up all the coin they can. But if it seems that the best that can be done is 4x the speed of a CPU with a GPU costing much more than the cpu and eating much more electricity, cpu mining will still be viable. Anyway, either no one should have a gpu miner, or everyone should have it. more than more mhz/s in GPU.maybe six GPU one pice of motherborad .....I think CPU is not necessarily cheaper than GPU, but the efficiency is low countless times.

Guys I have a huge problem. Suddenly my wallet started crashing right after the splash screen / before the wallet opens. I've spent the entire day trying to get access to my coin to no avail. I keep a back up of all my wallet.dats on a flash drive as well as my main pc. I downloaded a fresh wallet on two laptops (that have never had a wallet on them, empty appdata folder) I have using the backed up wallet.dat files that I had saved prior to ever having this issue (as far as I'm aware), and the wallet just crashes with the same error System error: Can't open database file wallet.dat. error -30974 . When i go to relaunch it shows the splash window for a very long time followed by yet another crash. I still have the wallet prior to kimoto, and it recreates the same issue on all 3 PCs. I reproduced the same error on winXP, win7, and win8 Finally.. I tried to run the client with a fresh wallet.dat, and boom... it works without a hitch.. I let it fully sync and tried to replace with my old wallet.dat.. boom it crashes again. But of course my address is gone, my dark are gone, everything.. I'm assuming my wallet somehow corrupted, and i backed it up after the issue was born without knowing. I don't know the intricacies to wallet.dat enough to figure this out. I don't even know my own address now without access to my wallet. This is a new issue for me, but I fear the worst.. If anybody has any idea's how I can fix this please please let me know. I have been here since the beginning of Xcoin.. I ran azure and ec2 machines on this at a great expense for weeks, this has been my sole CPU coin for weeks. I don't even want to mention how much is stuck in my wallet.. EDIT: -salvagewallet fails, I can't get anything out of pywallet. Making as many attempts as I can based on the advice I received from a trusted friend who is a pro with all this unix stuff.. He is suggesting that I may have destroyed my wallet.dat by simply right click copy pasting it to my flash drive while darkcoin-qt was running... Has anybody ever heard of that? It's destroyed so bad I can't even get my private key back? I sent my wallet.dat over to him.. but as far as I'm concerned I'm screwed.. I'm going to sleep DOUBLE EDIT: Based on final advice I attempted python pywallet.py --recover --recov_device C:\wallet.dat --recov_size 10MB --recov_outputdir C:\foundkeys .......... nothing............ this one stings fellas... goodnight. in the meanwhile.. my new address is XbrUuAHAyBiUagcvWZ88ScALRy7w4UxcZy ...if anybody wants to put a smile on my face with a donation. Do you have a copy of the wallet before the crash? If you do and trust me, I can check it out for you. I am one of the founders of Darkcoin so I think you can trust me. You can email me at internetape@me.com

Really lame to see shitty/useless coins like lemon (yes, offense) get a thousand votes. Marketing mostly I imagine.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5424980#msg5424980

Really lame to see shitty/useless coins like lemon (yes, offense) get a thousand votes. Marketing mostly I imagine. I think a couple minor things are deterring new visitors away from this coin. one being, the release date that is still posted on the first page/post. This confused me at first cause the date had already passed, so I thought the development team had moved onto other things. Luckily I read the whole thread instead of glancing at just the first post. But, unfortunately most people do this.

I created a subreddit (since the xcoin one is dead and the name has changed anyway): http://www.reddit.com/r/DRKCoin/r/darkcoin and r/drk were already taken Darkcoin devs, please PM me if you want to moderate this subreddit, otherwise I'll just hold onto it for now so nobody else nabs it for malicious purposes.

Block 16097
1 share
What are the odds?
Should have been more clear. Block link on pool site shows 1 share. I had it and got all the coins. Lucky I guess.
