1621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoBiz Magazine Cover! | Cryptogenic Bullion | CGB on: August 08, 2014, 03:04:24 PM
Mark,
Sorry, I must be missing something here. Can you please clarify what you feel is the fundamental problem?

I think he means to say "dinosaurs will die".
CGB has little to offer over other coins especially compared to new coins. There is no real reason to store value in CGB. In fact there's a good reason not to - CGB has been nothing but falling in value no matter how the crypto landscape was doing in general. To anyone that isn't watching this thread it looks dead. It's almost funny - any other coin would have seen a significant rise in value if they had been on a magazines cover yet CGB somehow managed to fall even lower.

Why on earth would anyone want to sotre his value in CGB ? Can anyone here answer this question ?

I still have some CGB and I wish I was wrong and CGB would rise in value once again but I'm afraid we've seen the heights.
1622  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NODE - Official Discussion Thread! Distributing the coins! on: August 08, 2014, 12:08:19 PM
....
Yes i agree to some level. node is a totally different coin to nxt so the devs say. (we havnt seen any code yet). but nxts distribution was one of the best imo. You cant have fair distro its a myth. and were already seeing downsides of distributing to 1000's of user instead of less than 100.
....

But wait only 25% of whole NXT was distributed in IPO to  72 people...
Who got rest of 75% ? ( i think main devs ) correct me if i am wrong with some links please.

*******************
Best IPO/Minig distribution for me had Bitshares 200 days 5000 for BTC day / 5000 for mining (PTS) .

*******************

I personal like BC and BC Volume is about 50k today while NXT as 60k and market cap 8x higher
PPC with 1/2 NXT market cap have 2x NXT volume 100k...
this is red flag for me and prof of fail distribution.

That is why i wait Node and NEM to compare it - before they are full operational is really hard to compare we just speculate.

Node with Bank + instant transaction is that what i wanted see as coin feature for ages.
Sorry have to correct you,  100% of nxt was distributed to 73 ppl who had massive balls. Even bcnxt had to buy his own stake.

100% of NXT were distributed to 73 BTT accounts. Could have been 3 people. No hate - just saying  Smiley
1623  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - One Click Install Is Live[Updates & Discussion] on: August 08, 2014, 07:39:39 AM
I think that's normal. You see webstart installs NIS on your computer while the standalone package is merely lying around in some location unknown to it.
I think the best way to run the client is to choose Webstart OR the standalone package. Mixing things is a recipe for problems like yours Smiley
The standalone package is imho best for people that want to run a node 24/7 or only want to run NIS. Webstart is meant for people that just want to use the client and have an easy way of starting it.

Nobody is mixing anything though.

I understand that things are setup this way to accommodate those that go for the One Click Install but it causes this issue when running  everything through the Standalone Package.  Not saying that the issue is critical (or even important for the matter)...  we just need to point to the solution when people report having this particular problem.

Oh you mean you start NCC from the standalone package and it tries to download and install NIS ?
I'll file an issue in the repo.

Thanks for reporting it.

Same happens on my Linux box too.

First I run nix.runNis.sh, than when I execute nix.runNcc.sh it generates an additional log (ncc/ncc/ncc-nis.log) complaining that Java Web Start cannot start:
Code:
Java Web Start splash screen process exiting .....
Splash: X11 connection failed: No such file or directory

It would be nice for NCC to execute NIS only if local port 7890 is free.

I think the standalone should not deal with webstart at all. Not sure how much more pain that will introduce to the building process though.

For some reason...  the auto-downloading process starts even when you are already running nis through the Standalone Package.

Here strange behavior with 0.1.2.

My nemesis account X in WALLET1 works good: I can send and receive NEM, can harvest, can start node.

So I created new WALLET2 with account Y. Both wallet files are in the same ncc directory and I'm able to open both. And then begins:

1. My WALLET2 account Y can receive NEM, I tried this by sending some NEM from account X and also received some NEM from others;
2. Account Y cannot boot local node, error "Wallet does not contain this account";
3. Account Y cannot start harvesting, error "Wallet does not contain this account";
4. Account Y cannot send NEM, error "Wallet does not contain this account".

Restarted with webstart, problems remain the same.
A. Is it known issue?
B. Am I doing something wrong?

Working on Windows 7.

Here are accounts for investigation:

Code:
WALLET1 account X: TAZUHL-TXN2LN-ZNIYAN-LYFJVK-CROXKJ-PPRXGD-5FJT
WALLET2 account Y: TDEIMT-JDHYFE-Z7MM7S-YB2OPZ-6OOFXL-UDB46G-XNLA

Try making Y your primary account.
If that's the problem then the error messages are off but it would make sense that only the primary account can harvest.
1627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - One Click Install Is Live[Updates & Discussion] on: August 08, 2014, 05:57:08 AM
I was able to login into the wallet after the cleaning up. But now facing this new problem.after i created my wallet and booting, My NIS keeps disconnected or getting killed after few minutes. Any idea why or anyone else having this problem. Error showing NEM Infrastructure not available?

Solved. Need to kill the java downloader process. Where do i ask for nem?
Next time show your logfile: this is useful for developers to know what's happening.
You can ask for nem here: http://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2232.0

That java process, j2lp (cant exactly remember the process name) is killing off NIS i think. Might be a problem.

What OS are you running and what is your Java version?

Windows 7. Java 8 update 11

Flushed your cache? Deleted the old wallets and directories? Firewall initiated kill? I have the same problem when I resume my windows from a hibernate. What I did was, I killed the process and restarted the nem-clinet.jnlp. Then it worked again. Further, I need to wait for the NIS to properly complete its booting process before I log on the wallet. I usually wait for 5 minutes just to make sure. Same OS as yours and Java version.

The wallet is working for me. Just saying that J2pl process is killing nis after a while. So i had to manually kill the j2pl process to use the wallet. Highlighting the problem i see.

Are you use j2lp is what it was called ? I can't even find anyhing on that with a search engine.
1628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - One Click Install Is Live[Updates & Discussion] on: August 07, 2014, 09:26:26 AM
In the Java controllpanel you should delete all cached files and remove NCC and NIS (don't deactivate caching though).
You should also delete all files in your "home" folder even the wallet (just remove the directories).

The it's prob best to restart the machine and try again afterwards.

OK, got rid off problems. Did what you wrote and additionally:

1. run ccleaner to clean all temporary stuff include java
2. updated java to version 8 update 11
3.restarted PC
4. webstart went smoothly

Good to hear Smiley
That pretty much confirms that it's not the software but residues from the older version.

OK...  I pretty much have the same issues described by martismartis but I also noticed something...  after nis and ncc are both up and running...
nis crashes AFTER loading up http://localhost:8989/ncc/web/index.html

EDIT SOLVED:  The issue is being caused by the auto-downloading process that starts after you fire up ncc...  I had Task Manager open and killed the javaw process soon as it appeared and everything is working fine!!!   Grin

If only I hadn't deleted the Private Key for the address I provided in the Reset Thread...  lol   Cheesy

That auto-downloading process is the download and installation of NIS.

One question: for who try this alpha, with how many "alpha" nem we will start?

0 NEM. You'll have to ask people to send you some to play with. Please don't post the address here though. Put it in your sig our post it here http://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2232.105

0.1.2 doesn't like me either right about now...   Sad

Did you delete your NEM folder?

Yes.

I didn't give up yet...  I will let you know when I'm up and running again!   Wink

Important thing to remeber is that these issues wouldn't occur outside of alpha.
With new versions that are not 100% backwards compatible and blockchain resets you'll have a way harder time to run a new version of the client than you normally would.

Planned blockchain restart along with new fresh build 0.1.2 is here.

http://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2230.msg2723#msg2723

Trying new release. Doesn't run neither one click nor standalone. Where all files of old version and of new version are storied? Windows 7. Want to delete everything and start from the scratch. Is old wallet file still valid with new version or I need to create new one?

Because of the reset i think you'll need to delete them yes.
They should be in your Users "home" folder. Where Dekstop, Downloads and such are as well.

Plz always post error messages or a more detailed description of the behaviour you're seeing.

Plz test everyone.
This build should be way more stable and smooth.
You want to know what you can do right now as a NEM supporter ? - Test Test Test. And give feedback obviously.

People November is for official launch. BETA = distribution of coins = Septemeber.
At least that's the plan and always has been.

You have to remember that even Bitcoin is technically still in Beta.

Incorrect. ***AUGUST*** was the original target. NOT September.

Can you direct me to the post that states this ? Can you find any official post that states that August was the target ?

I'm seriously asking cause I'm wondering where all those dates are coming from.

WOOOOW, 1 NEMstake had fell to 15000NXT

Maybe it will be 10000NXT soon! Cheesy

You guys were a waste of time to discuss the future, HOW BEAUTIFUL IT IS!

Nothing had released, just Alpha has launched. A lot of investors had lost they interest in NEM

Other projects had speed up the project progress in order to present they advantage.

And the NEM project just slow down?

It is suspicious that a stakeholder speaks like that...

I believe the original intent was to be a stakeholder with all that comes with it, and not an investor. If you want to be an investor then do your short sighted day trading. If you want to actually build something, stay put, ignore prices, and do something of high quality. We can shake loose the weak hands. If you have confidence in the devs and what they are doing you won't care about the price. The first coin across the finish line that has the same feature set as nem doesn't mean it wins at all. Rushing your product can be bad. One bad security flaw and it destroys the coin forever. You want to properly test for as much as you can, and it sounds like our guys are.

I think we have to face that all NEM supporters will have to take a lot of shit until we reach our goals. A lot of nay sayers will come and go. Don't let them fool you. NEM is still on track to become something big.
1639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Logo Voting Has Begun[Updates & Discussion] on: August 06, 2014, 04:21:10 PM
More and more guys will sell they NEMstake and leave.

You will find out one day what you guys working for, other projects had reached!   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Maybe everything would seem a little better if less stakeholders were like you.
1640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Logo Voting Has Begun[Updates & Discussion] on: August 05, 2014, 06:47:36 PM
If every stakeholder was doing their part,The devs would not need to discuss raising more funds.

Let's not forget that this is supposed to be a call for participation. Now that nemstakes are on AE, I understand why someone that payed $1000+ for a stake feels that they have done their part, but there are still 2,000+ people who haven't stepped up.

As far as raising funds, what about selling off a portion of the "auctionable stakes", and using those proceeds for the development fund?

And what shall the stakeholder do?

The coin hasnīt launched and we got no coins.

First of all we have to go live. I donīt see tasks for the community besides this crazy logo thing.

Here's a crazy idea. Check out the alpha and give feedback Smiley
That's something that is very valuable and everyone can do.

Come up with ideas for:
  • community events
  • business models
  • apps for nem (besides the obvious ones like a wallet)
  • anything that is usefull for the ecosystem
