16221  Other / Meta / Re: "YOU CANNOT MERIT THAT POST" on: April 22, 2018, 06:51:22 PM
That error happens when some info about the post is missing/undefined. For example, you get that when you try to merit a post by a guest, since those posts don't have a defined user.

I might just be being stupid here, but then why on the same post did The Pharmacist have the error and no one else did? Surely if the post is missing some info, it is missing the info for everybody?
16222  Other / Meta / Re: "YOU CANNOT MERIT THAT POST" on: April 22, 2018, 01:57:08 PM
I don't think it has anything to do with browser, hacks or deprived sleep Cheesy
but it has something to do with maximum number of merit you have spent, isn't there a limit cap of 50 per month?
If I counted right, on your merit page, you've sent out 50 merits since april 1st
this could be the only possible reason. And the error message was just an unspecified standard warning

The Pharmacist merited bill gator in this thread, so it can't possibly be that I'm afraid. The limit is that you can only give 50 merit to each user in a 30 day window - you are free to give away 100s of merit in a single day if you so choose, as long as it is spread across multiple users.
16223  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Forum Puzzle on: April 22, 2018, 01:41:15 PM
CENTIGRADE is the only word I can come up with that fits and is even remotely close to meaning "capacity". Other than that, I'm stumped! Another clue might be necessary.
16224  Other / Meta / Re: "YOU CANNOT MERIT THIS POST" on: April 22, 2018, 12:33:23 PM
On that old thread from 2012, I can certainly click +Merit and get the normal page - is this where you got the error message, or was it after typing in the amount of merit to give and hitting the "send" button?

Additionally, I can quote that other post normally, no issues. Seems to be either your account or computer is the issue.
16225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I've been seeing a lot of controversy towards Verge. on: April 22, 2018, 09:06:17 AM
Don't forget the chain was hacked, the devs didn't know how to fix it, and they accidentally forked the chain without even realising it. Calling a partnership with Pornhub (although, how is it a partnership if you have to pay $75million first? Sounds more like paid advertising to me) the biggest in crypto is an insult to coins with real partnerships with companies like IBM, Kuehne & Nagel, and Santander.
16226  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: All projects promoted by Mcafee are scam. on: April 22, 2018, 07:34:09 AM
mcafee himself said on the bad crypto podcast he gets paid 125k per advertised tweet

125k per advertised tweet   Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked? Do you have a link?

It's advertised on his website here: https://mcafeecryptoteam.com/effect.html

"Individual tweets, whether created in Mr. McAfee’s voice or by the company whose products we are promoting, cost $105,000 per tweet."

He orchestrated massive pump and dumps with his "Coin of the Day" bullshit a few months. He's a scam artist as well as a criminal, and it's about time the crypto world ignored him.

Kudos to you for taking the time to write that reply. His posts are such a word salad of nonsense that I gave up even trying to understand them, let alone respond to them. Unfortunately though, I suspect your post won't make the slightest difference to him.
16228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WikiLeaks Calls For Coinbase Blockade After Account Ban By The Exchange on: April 22, 2018, 05:59:04 AM
The community as a whole should already be refusing to use Coinbase because of their shady as fuck inside trading surrounding their launch of Bitcoin Cash trading, not to mention their astronomical fees. There are many, many better exchanges out there you should be giving your business to instead.
16229  Other / Meta / Re: Remove signatures on: April 22, 2018, 05:42:45 AM
That isn't a bad idea, To take it further if you want to start a bounty you need to employ a mod before posting the ANN, there needs to be a signed message from the mod in the ANN agreeing to the work otherwise we can all report the thread for deletion. I am sure a few of the mods want extra BTC for a few hours work each week.

I also think this idea has merit, but I want to play devil's advocate for a minute here. With this system, what is to stop someone organising a bounty/signature campaign offsite and bypassing all of these rules?
16230  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S firmware update 1.4.1 on: April 21, 2018, 08:21:13 PM
Why aren't people simply wiping it completely before even attempting the firmware upgrade? I wouldn't bother dicking around removing individual apps. I'd simply nuke it and start again from scratch. Just do the wrong pin three times and you have a blank slate.

Obviously make sure you have your seed in order beforehand.

That seems unnecessarily complicated. I have updated my Ledger at least 4 times (maybe more?) since I bought it, and each time just followed the instructions to wipe the individual apps, download and install the new firmware, and reinstall the apps, and had absolutely zero issues on any occasion. My seed is split and stored securely across multiple locations - it would be a total hassle to have to retrieve and then re-secure it everytime I wanted to update.
16231  Other / Meta / Re: Remove signatures on: April 21, 2018, 08:08:54 PM
I agree, but I thought we could turn it into a fun thread, as I assume the OP wasn't serious. I shan't winge if it is deleted, even though I like 'big melons' Smiley

A 29 year old girl in a leather skirt with big melons who likes to punish you? I'm getting a little too familiar with your sexual fantasies here man. And I'd be willing to bet this hypothetical woman could even type in grammatically correct English.
16232  Other / Meta / Re: Blatantly selling Merit on: April 21, 2018, 07:59:23 PM
I went to have a look at their site, and was immediately met by a MetaMask "Phishing Detector" warning page. I think that says it all really. Interact with at your own risk.
16233  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin adress signature on: April 21, 2018, 04:05:04 PM
This would be better moved to the "Beginners & Help" board, which has a sticky thread called Newbies - Read before posting, which includes within it a link to the thread How to sign a message?!, which would answer all your questions.
16234  Other / Meta / Re: There are many smerit holdings but not readily given. Could we punish them? on: April 21, 2018, 04:00:11 PM
I'm considering running down the Fit to Talk site due to lack of interest.

Maybe you just need to spread the word some more - why don't you try a signature campaign to advertise it? Cheesy

Also, I live in fear of being added to your infamous ban list.

Edit: Not on the ignore list. Whew.
16235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your Best Crypto Passive Income? on: April 21, 2018, 03:08:17 PM
Some of my friends gave me the passive income coins 3 days ago:
-snip-

Nice list. Neo and KCS are easy to set up, as OP pointed out. Other good ones like Ark, XLM, VEN and ICX need a little bit of configuring to be able to claim your passive income from them - either Google for it or have a look on each coins' subreddit and you will find easy to follow instructions. I'd also add COSS to your list - exchange coins are only going to grow IMO as crypto becomes more widespread, and COSS will soon be introducing fiat pairings.
16236  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What next? on: April 21, 2018, 01:56:45 PM
So you bought high and sold low? That's the literal opposite of what you are supposed to do. Also Tron is plagiarised vaporware.

Just hold it and do nothing is not an option

It absolutely is an option, and given your history of terrible decisions, I would suggest it is the best option until you learn about crypto and learn some patience.
16237  Other / Meta / Re: There are many smerit holdings but not readily given. Could we punish them? on: April 21, 2018, 01:44:44 PM
There is already a punishment laid out by the admins for merit hodlers. Its been stated that after a while, all unused  merit will be decayed into the system.

You say punishment, but I would much rather my unspent merit decays to nothing than gets awarded to some shitposter.

Instead of ranting about the merit holders not awarding merits, why not strive harder to receive a well-deserved one?

Because that's difficult. Much easier just to create yet another topic bitching and moaning about merit and hope there someone who is as big an idiot as you are who will merit your bitching and moaning.
16238  Other / Serious discussion / Re: What is your stance on capital punishment? on: April 21, 2018, 01:24:02 PM
A baseball bat can kill if it connects. Although within a small space it's very hard to swing and guess what a baseball bat takes time to leverage back and swing. It's slow in other words and within the time they are swinging you can tackle them and disarm them. Police are taught this technique and a baseball bat is considered low danger because of this.

What if they are 6'6" and weigh 300 pounds and are swinging at me with a baseball bat? What if they are attacking a 5'0" female who weighs 100 pounds? Are you saying the victim is allowed to try to tackle them, but isn't allowed to stab or shoot them? So if the attacker is bigger than you, you just accept that you are getting beaten up or killed?

But the majority of people invading someones house is looking to steal something and sometimes it's not worth the risk. If they want a tv give them a tv. It's better than killing someone and living with it for the rest of your life.

If someone breaks in to my house armed with a deadly weapon, I don't care what they want and I suspect they wouldn't be interested in having a conversation about it. They are putting the lives of my family at risk and I would retaliate as necessary to attempt to stop them. Thankfully, in the country I live in, the law would be on my side.
16239  Other / Meta / Re: make merit a crypto? on: April 21, 2018, 11:38:26 AM
But why? As much as ICOs try to make you believe it, cryptography and blockchain is not a magical solution for anything. In fact, it's the other way around: anything that can be done without a blockchain, should be done without a blockchain!

I wish we could slap this piece of sense in to 99% of ICO and altcoin developers/investors/blindly-throwing-their-money-away-idiots. Just look at some of the nonsense you can find on here: https://www.icoalert.com. Blockchain for Dentists! Blockchain for Uber! Blockchain for Wikis! Blockchain for Fantasy Football! Utter nonsense.
16240  Other / Meta / Re: make merit a crypto? on: April 21, 2018, 10:09:30 AM
What the fuck is the internet?

If we are making merit a crypto, I would like to volunteer to organise a coin burn to make merit even more valuable. Send all your excess merits to me, and I'll make sure they are burned. Here's a (/s) just in case anyone honestly thought I was being serious.

You want a serious answer though? If you make merit a crypto, people can buy it, and it therefore defeats the purpose of merit. The end.

Thanks for having the patience to answer the retarded fucking OP

I've just burned those two merits. Honest. There's no need for you to check. All other merits in existence have just gone up in value by 0.0001 satoshis.
