16261  Other / Meta / Re: Is it too hard to get Merit? (not a CryBaby post) on: April 19, 2018, 09:41:06 AM
As the title says, do you think it is too hard to get Merit?

No.

People tend to send Smerit to Sr. Members and above more often, even on a single comments, not just posts...

I'm not a senior member or above, but I've currently been merited 138 times.

But the Merit system might still prove to be too difficult sometimes, hindering the progression too much. On the other hand, the lower ranks actually do not limit the use of the forum...

You've answered your own question. Being a junior member does not hamper your ability to use the forum whatsoever. The only reason to get angry about the merit system is because it is hindering your ability to get paid to shitpost.

There is no need to write again and again on same old topic related to merit..... merit and merit.there is no need to change ,it is working with good speed.
You will not get any merit for this type of post. There is only one way to get merit, write quality post with some new or unique topic that will enhance the knowledge of members .

Hilarious that you would berate another member for spamming about merit, when you have started multiple threads complaining about merit.

16263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Not as expected: Pornhub as Verge partner now accepts crypto payments on: April 17, 2018, 08:57:55 PM
Out of Verge and PornHub, it's still more embarassing to be caught using Verge.
16264  Other / Serious discussion / Re: What is your stance on capital punishment? on: April 17, 2018, 07:15:06 PM
Moral of the Story: If you want free meals and accommodation in Babylon, just murder someone - even if it is a close friend or relative. They won't kill you for such hideous crime, because they are too scared that you might be innocent. Alternatively, don't murder someone and slave away for meals and accommodation for most of your life. In fact, don't murder someone and you will foot the bill in terms of meals and accommodation (and some more) for those who have the balls to murder. What is not to love of a system that upholds the right to murder. Cool

I merited one of your previous posts, not because I agreed with what you said, but because you put forward a level-headed and well reasoned argument. And now you have completely ruined it by saying something as ridiculous as not having the death penalty is equivalent to giving citizens the right to murder. Sigh.
16265  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [Warning] Ledger Manager chrome app on: April 17, 2018, 09:33:51 AM
This is the pop-up you receive from the old version:

It is worth noting that the only new permission is "Write to files and folders that you open in the application". It always had the other three permissions.

You can see a response from the Ledger CTO in the following Reddit thread regarding the same issue:

"It's fine, you can reenable it. The new Bitcoin Chrome app added some permissions to export debug logs at user request which were missing previously"

As HCP said above: if you have any doubt, reinstall directly from the official website.
16266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What portfolio app do you use? on: April 17, 2018, 09:19:47 AM
Delta hands down. Clean, smooth, fast, all the features you need. They've also recently released a desktop version and you can easily sync your portfolio between your phone and desktop.
16267  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Ask] Lauda's red trust policy on: April 17, 2018, 09:17:43 AM
I would suggest contacting Blazed, hilariousandco and saltyspitton about this issue. They are why lauda is in the default trust network.

I have no idea why any of them would want to be associated with someone like lauda.

Pretty obvious we feel he does a good job at this point? When will you stop obsessing over this and just move on?

You might as well be asking a leopard to change its spots.
16268  Other / Meta / Re: Where did Merit come from? on: April 17, 2018, 09:08:25 AM
our lord and savior VOD, he spoke with his other deity Theymos and thank the lord merit appeared one day. So Theymos pretended he implemented it as he didnt want to piss off Satoshi

Rejoice! For it is written:

Genesis 6:5-6

The Lord Theymos saw how great the wickedness of the human race shitposters had become on the earth forum, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart shitposters was only evil all the time. The Lord Theymos regretted that he had made human beings shitposters on the earth forum, and his heart was deeply troubled.

Genesis 7:4

Seven days from now I will send rain merit on the earth forum for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth forum every living creature shitposter I have made.
16269  Other / Meta / Re: Could the thread start date be listed under the thread starter on the index on: April 16, 2018, 08:11:00 PM
If you add ";sort=first_post;desc" on to the end of the URL (for example: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=1.0;sort=first_post;desc), you can sort threads by date and time created. I use this a lot when I'm looking for new topics to read and to filter out the spam megathreads.

I do like your suggestion though.
16270  Economy / Reputation / Re: Quickseller receives 20BTC, does not do work, keeps $ **not disputed!** on: April 16, 2018, 05:43:05 PM
You forget that Quickseller's definition of "proof" follows the same rules as his definition of "scam": inconsistent, different depending on whether we are talking about him or everybody else, and modifiable as and when he desires.

16272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reseting your wallet on the nano ledger on: April 15, 2018, 05:13:57 PM
If I reset my nano ledger (and get a new 24 word phrase) will I be able to access the Eth wallet (MEW) I had on it before through the 24 word phrase it originally came with?

Yes. MEW will allow you to input your 24 word phrase directly in to their website and access your wallet that way. It is not recommended to enter your phrase directly in to a website though - much safer to restore your wallet to the Ledger or use Metamask instead.
16273  Other / Serious discussion / Re: What is your stance on capital punishment? on: April 15, 2018, 04:35:04 PM
We know innocent people are convicted. That alone should be enough to not have the death penalty!

Also i do not think the ones comitting murder consider that they can be sentenced to death, just look at the fantastic land of the free.. What matters for crime is the society. And when put in jail how the conditions are. Being in a Norwegian jail is a paradise compared to the US, yet the amount of criminals is lower and the reformation is more succesfull. If interested see Michael Moore visiting Norwegian jail.

https://youtu.be/jDjISR5OHa4

And what about all the innocent people who are getting murdered? Should that alone not be enough to have the death penalty?

Punishing someone with the death penalty won't undo their crimes, and as I mentioned before, there is no evidence that it is a deterrent to future crimes.
16274  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: hilariousandco, Mitchell,Vod,Ognasty Bitblisscoin.com could be a scamsite on: April 14, 2018, 07:27:55 AM
So your entire proof lies in the fact that they both used a very common mIRC expression? Well, that seems rock-solid and water-tight to me! (/s)

Poe's law in action here. I honestly can't tell if you are being serious or pulling our collective legs. Given your previous complete lack of insight, I suspect it is the former, which is embarrassing for you but even funnier for everyone else.
That is a satire thread. It seems very much like a joke.

I realise that of course - I am just pointing out that this very obvious fact has apparently gone over endlasuresh's head.
16275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase just added ERC-20 tokens support on: April 14, 2018, 07:25:49 AM
I think this is a good news since coinbase have a very good reputation in the market i hope it will bring a good empact to our crypto investors to help increase the price goes up again.

Coinbase has a very good reputation ? LOL NO!
just search it on google or this forum, you will see a lot of people complained about their services and actions.
for example BCH distribution a while ago.
did you know that they were delaying the distribution a few months later ? and then they were disabled their trading after it listed on there.
they made a lot of questionable acts.
so it will help ? it will only increase the price for a few weeks, nothing more than that.
generally it won't increase cryptocurreny price overall.

This. I avoid Coinbase like the plague now because of their shady dealings. I am far more excited about exchanges like Binance, KuCoin or COSS adding fiat pairs than about anything Coinbase will do.

I have not scammer anyone, ever.

Riiiiiiiiight. I'll just leave this here:

"In the bogus escrow scam, a scammer sets itself up as the recipient of money or goods and then requests the use of an escrow service which is self-operated."
16278  Other / Meta / Re: Trust system on: April 13, 2018, 06:08:23 PM
Big joke these moderators here.

Neither of them are moderators. At least try to understand what you are arguing against before you post any more word salad.

Quickseller won't even take up the bet I proposed that he provide whatever evidence he thinks he has to prove the contrary.  That's because there is no evidence

As it is with all of Quickseller's ridiculous allegations.

16280  Other / Meta / Re: Who is able and willing to moderate the Politics & Society section? on: April 12, 2018, 07:21:40 PM
If you don't believe in a supernatural God and the afterlife, it doesn't make you automatically untrustworthy, it makes you potentially untrustworthy. those who believe in afterlife and would even kill hundreds to get some young virgins in their imaginary heavens are walking around with the same potential. you either don't believe and insist on not believing, so you could do whatever you want, no consequence, no God. you want to have sex with a married woman. if you could manage to have sex without her husband finding out, nobody around to see. the potential in you is stronger to go along with it. if you get your hands on a few Millions, temptation to take the money for yourself and spend it because you only live once, is stronger.

I don't want to get off topic here, and no personal offense meant, but this is complete nonsense.

The Bible promotes slavery and states we should stone people to death who work on Sundays. Of course, these views are abhorrent, and no civilised society does these things any more. But how do we know? Because we have an internal, non-biblical, non-religious moral compass that tells us these things. You either accept that religion is not in any way the basis for morality, or you accept that slavery is fine because your religion says so.

Saying that the only reason you are not a stealing, murdering rapist is because you think God is watching is honestly terrifying.

Quote from: Penn Jillette
The question I get asked by religious people all the time is, without God, what’s to stop me from raping all I want? And my answer is: I do rape all I want. And the amount I want is zero. And I do murder all I want, and the amount I want is zero. The fact that these people think that if they didn’t have this person watching over them that they would go on killing, raping rampages is the most self-damning thing I can imagine.
