16261  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 2oz .999 Silver NastyFans Minted Seats on: November 24, 2015, 07:36:20 PM
Well, as with any project there have been delays, delays, and more delays...  I have finally gotten all the rights to the fonts squared away with the mint and approved artwork for the dies.  They can now enter the minting phase.  I am told this will take between 6-8 weeks and then they will need to have the gold plating put on by hand.  This could push shipping of these coins back to February.  The good news is that there should be no more delays.  It also gives me more time to generate more difficult vanity addresses.  Grin
16262  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: November 24, 2015, 06:33:23 PM
Nonnakip has done the closest thing to a solution with his NastyPoP method (ckpool combined with p2pool).  It's a decent workaround, but it's not ideal.  I've been mining on it for a year now, and have my thread comparing the results of it to standard p2pool nodes.  The biggest problem with their solution is that you lose the decentralized nature of p2pool.  Of course, if they expanded their operations from just their two current nodes, so that anyone could operate their own NastyPoP node, then we'd have something workable.

I definitely like what they've done, or I wouldn't have dedicated a year's worth of mining and time to them Smiley.

The ckpool implementation was actually turned off because it was unstable with our implementation (our use of it wasn't what it was intended for and required a LOT of customization to the code).  We will hopefully be able to stabilize it for our use and implement it again in the future.  There is just a LOT of things nonnakip is working on for NastyFans and the lack of community support on NastyPool has put that project a bit on the back burner.  If more people were interested in it and wanted to participate it might be a different story.  Perhaps if it ever is stable with the ckpool implementation we could open it up to anyone who wants to run a node.  I actually approached the Toomim bros to see if they were interested in hosting a node but I think the centralized nature of our payout system is a bit of a turn off for some folks.  I had hoped that my reputation and only having 1 week of earnings on the line would be enough to ease community concerns, but it appears that it is not.
16263  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: November 24, 2015, 06:28:03 PM
could this be the cause of the recent bad luck?

No.
16264  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d on: November 24, 2015, 06:22:18 PM
this would make the gear better then the s-7

In what way?  I've been pretty disappointed with mine so far to be honest.  The only advantage seems to be the sound, and my S7 would be silent as well if I was willing to run it at the temps the Avalon6 runs at.  My S7 is at 58 degrees sitting next to an Avalon that is 74 degrees.  Not sure that exactly counts as being quieter...  I worry about the lifespan of a miner running in the mid 70's.

I wish they would take Coinbase with them...
16266  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: November 24, 2015, 09:18:12 AM
I think it would encourage more miners to p2pool if they knew their S7's worked properly here.

My S7 runs fine on p2pool...

I love that he is starting to feel threatened.  Let stage 3 begin.  The time is near.

BTW this forum software was "supposed" to be updated years ago. The forum operator which I think is sitting on a few hundred thousand worth of BTC never upgraded the forum software so you'll see back to back posts from users "like me" who respond to what they read and then have to go back to the thread to read on. There were threads out there on how much BTC the forum operator was hoarding. Users just keep donating I guess but don't pressure the operator to update to a modern browser. I mean seriously, SMF 1.1?

EDIT: A good read.  You'll read a lot of good stuff in there about updating this forum, which never took place. Why users lied outright puzzles me, but I think it was just to get more donations.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=50617.0

Here's another. Looks like the forum has over 2 million USD worth of BTC. Of course we don't know the real transparency and that post was from two years ago. Slap on another few hundred thousand for donations. Just very interesting stuff. What's real funny is the topic number.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=155000.0

Just want everyone to be aware. Throwing lots of money into BTC which in my opinion its value is tied to a dozen or so people. Unfortunately BTC got its good start in the drug market. Do some Googling and you'll have some good reading.

You realize you can check the progress they're making on the new forum right?  I'd also like to know when you think the last donation was received.  It appears you are very confused.  This forum makes BTC from advertising and very little from donations.

EDIT: There's an entire section dedicated to it in the Meta section.
16269  Economy / Services / Re: LEGENDARY MEMBER Offering TRUSTED ESCROW services on: November 22, 2015, 10:20:16 PM
The more parties you involve in a transation, the more points of failure there are.

every human can make a mistake.

Probably why you should rely on a trusted escrow agent with years of experience over a newbie who has probably never signed a multi-sig transaction or an unproven 3rd party service.
16270  Economy / Services / Re: LEGENDARY MEMBER Offering TRUSTED ESCROW services on: November 22, 2015, 08:33:22 PM
How is the seller protected from the buyer claiming they didn't recive it or sending back a different item than they recived etc

The only one protection from this type of scam is collateral in MultiSig escrow. It will encourage both sides to be honest, and if something happens with the parcel to conduct a thorough investigation and find consensus.
Who provides this type of escrow?

The more parties you involve in a transation, the more points of failure there are.  MultiSig escrow sounds nice, but for 99% of use cases it is not a better way of doing things.  There are plenty of threads discussing it though.  You don't need to crap on mine.  Thanks.  Also, multisig escrow provides absolutely no additional protection in the case mentioned above.  An arbitrator would be needed in either case.
16271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still use fiat to buy things on Amazon.com? on: November 22, 2015, 08:24:12 AM
I use gyft.com.

Although with http://www.minerscenter.com/ offer of giving you an extra 10% for your BTC, I imagine that would be the smart way to use your BTC at the moment.

I use fiat only. Bitcoin is for hoarding and speculation, fiat for economic activities.

That is the most ignorant thing I've ever read on these forums.
16272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can anyone help me figure out who sent this? on: November 22, 2015, 03:47:40 AM
He clearly asked who and not what address. Can you people read?

NastyPool started the NastyPoP payout method 1 year ago. In the year NastyPoP paid out 97.4% of mining expectations. A total of 79.57185729 BTC was paid out to NastyPoP miners. nastyfans thanks the NastyPoP miners (big and small) for your support on our pool.

97.4% isn't too shabby.  Especially considering the bad luck as of late.  Thank you for all the hard work you put into this, as well as nastyfans.org.  While I had hoped for more community participation on NastyPool, I am quite happy to see it continue to provide such an excellent mining option.

I bet it has been asked before, but how do you secure the private keys of minted seats? I mean they have to be sent to the goldsmith. And how do we know that you don't just save the private keys on your computer? Sorry if this has been asked before.

I engrave the coins myself so there is no goldsmith concern.  The only people with access to the machine generating private keys are myself and nonnakip.  I delete the private keys instantly after engraving and will make sure that the hard drive will never see the light of day.  This is all my word of course, so you would have to trust me.

So that hard drive is not connected to the internet?
Anyhow I got my 1oz minted seat today and I must say it looks pretty fabulous. Thanks nasty for making this shit possible.

I don't want to go too much into our security practices for obvious reasons, but I trust that it would take someone smarter than myself with physical access to the drive in order to attempt something malicious.  I would not recommend trying to get that physical access.

Anyone know what the best running temp for the chips would be to have lowest HW errors ?

I don't think it's temp related.  It is frequency related from my experience with units from 3 different batches.

All I will say if that if folks on the forum are looking for a real assessment of the filings they need to get someone qualified to review them to weigh in...

I have experience as a financial analyst for a Fortune 500 company...  While dogie's analysis is horrendous as far as the numbers go, his assessment of the situation appears quite accurate.

Is this basically like vulcun.com then?

He is describing a fanduel or draftkings type site I believe.
16278  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S8 ? on: November 20, 2015, 10:32:40 PM
I'm guessing (hoping) we don't see an S8 until July of 2016.  I would expect we'd see something like 8TH/s @ 1250 watts.
