1641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: July 15, 2014, 11:17:28 PM
Actually I am very pleased with the direction of qora and also think that Qora is doing a great job programming all alone!

The haters would flame no matter what exactly happens, so ignoring is mostly the best thing.

In the end only the longterm counts, shortterm prices might be relevant for daytraders or people that need the money soon, but everyone else could invest in projects that have a longterm future and be happy!

At the release of exo in september 2015 the value of one bitcoin will be 12,500 USD making exo a 1 billion market cap coin right at the release. :O
1643  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: July 15, 2014, 09:06:56 PM
Hello, I'm new to using Bitfinex and saw that it trades DarkCoin, DRK.  Can i use Margin to trade DRK???  or is that just for BTC and LTC??

Thanks

Leverage for DRK is not yet available!
1644  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: July 15, 2014, 04:42:47 PM
Is it inevitable that on the 21st when everyone needs to decrease their leverage position BTC is going to drop when thousands of BTC hit the market or am I missing something?

I dont think it applies to open positions. Just new ones. Therefore no reason to sell anything to reduce your leverage.

That would be a totally unfair policy. All traders should be treated equally and not some having more leverage and allowed more risks than others.

Open positions... not older traders....

Every trade started after the deadline will have thoses restrictions...

how is this one not dead yet?

Maybe because this coin shows more innovation than 99% of the coins out there? They introduced a decentralized block-dice and will be releasing a multi-gateway (trust(-less) multisignature gateway) to deposit BTC ect INTO the blockchain.

It's all in here: https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/general-security-and-klee-theft-situation/

Holy Crap on a Cracker !!

I agree with the comments posted by "Uniqueorn" and "BitVenturerr" in the above referenced thread ..

I'm not familiar with KeepPass but Coinbase uses the "SMS one time pass" feature
prior to enabling a withdrawal from one's account .. Adds 20 seconds to a withdrawal ..

Security features designed to foil 'access' to one's wallet are clearly not enough ..
I vote for the "SMS one time pass" feature as an add on to the NXT client ASAP ..
"klee" may have had sloppy security practices, but you have to admit that the
addition of "SMS  one time pass" would have prevented the coin heist ..

You guys are the security experts here and maybe a more 'elegant' security solution
can be developed at a later date ..

Mass adoption of crypto ?? You've got to be kidding ..

Fail safe wallet security should be priority  # 1

Triff ..

Do you store your coinbase password or anyother password somewhere in plain text .txt file??

Not even my tech-unsavy girlfriend does that. That heist is 100% on klee and not the software, so please don't try to blame that one the provided software...

====

No, I don't store any passwords on my PC that I'm aware of ..
But, I'd assume ( correctly? ) that if I had a keylogger on my PC that I'd be in trouble ..
I'm not stating that the NXT client is at fault here ..
Just observing that once a wallet ( NXT's or any other coin's wallet ) has been accessed that the 'deed is done'
Would "SMS one time pass" have foiled this heist ?? YES or NO ??

Triff ..

Using proper software WOULD HAVE safed Klee. Keepass 2 has multiple ways of preventing keyloggers from spying Wink
1649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: July 10, 2014, 09:37:10 PM
How do you find out about assets on the exchange? Is there an official exchange list? Is there any oversight to what gets listed?

Brand new:

http://www.secureae.com/

Just click Login on the bottom left, it lists all the available assets.

But most of them are announced on nxtformum.org.

Don't do that Wink

In secureae ALL assets with trading volume are listed, so scam assets are in there too!

Going to pump this a little bit: http://www.secureae.com/

You can load your wallet using BTC and buy Assets on the AE Smiley

While you are trying it, buy some DORCS Assets, you know you want to!  Cheesy

Who made secureAE? The site is amazing. Funding with BTC seems so easy and the rate is really good!

Here is the forum thread: https://nxtforum.org/secure-asset-exchange/introduction-to-secure-asset-exchange/

Kushti and Wesley were involved, amongst others whom I don't know (yet)

Edit: I was amazed it hadn't been promoted as much as I find it should be, hence me advertising it now Smiley

how safe is it to go entering your passphrase on the site? what sort of precautions do they take and who stores the passphrase or where/how? if the website got hacked, would accounts be vulnerable?

JUst read a post by wesleyH:

It works like any other public node, the password is never submitted to the server, the transaction is prepared and signed locally.

So basically, it is 100% safe if your computer is not compromised.

Nice move of Gliss (CMC) to include this. That is a first step to including the NXT monetary system being listed on coinmarketcap!

He really had all passwords on one pc/ mac? Oh my gosh? I feel with him but this is really stupido

yeah, in a plain text file.... not encrypted.

on dropbox no less, where any dropbox employee could had done it (although it was likely related to heart bleed).

Even one of those simple encryption done online probably could had adverted this.

We don't even know what was on the text file.  Maybe the person who took it had no clue what NxT was until he read the text file.  Maybe the text file was like

"NxT coin password: Blah Blah Blah"

even a lot of people are still oblivious as to what BTC is.

 Cheesy

But seriously - i can´t believe it. With 40mil nxt you can hire an it expert (if needed) and buy some / make next accounts on a armada of several computers.

With some work you can make a complete offline cold wallet. Just need to figure out how to sign a message offline.

Would love to know how that translates in the minds of non English, after they have translated.  Undecided  Grin

Der Deal lutscht Bälle (Eier).

Market Makers required for Nxt fiat Gateways

USD and EUR available.

Can you or someone you know buy and sell EUR or USD for Nxt to provide liquidity for a new fiat exchange? If so, see below. There is money to be made  Grin

By the way, while our development team is solving technical issues, our commercial department would like to ask the NXT community to help us find new Market Makers.
It would be a great opportunity to start with several Market Maker contracts.
Market Makers get exclusive conditions. For more information, you can visit this page: https://hitbtc.com/mm

1659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][NXTvestment] invest in promising enterprises, new projects and assets! on: July 09, 2014, 04:47:53 PM
Clearly a scam. Someone already fell for it and bought 500 of this worthless crap.

He even calls himself "we". Ridiculous.

NxtBridge - a wrapper for Nxt to make it as easy to integrate into exchanges as any bitcoind fork - has gone into alpha/beta (I'm not sure  Grin)

Bridge is ready for crossing. Might be a bit creaky as it is now, needs some user input.

checkout at:

git clone https://github.com/l8orre/nxtBridge

However, since bitcoind API, and especially the 'accounts' feature of the 'wallet' is a big pile of cracked crockery,
individual exchanges may have to adapt some of the returned values to slightly different formats- s.t. that can be done easily, but not without knowing the specs of what is actually needed.

Note the we have designed these specs by pure conjecture as to what exactly might be convenient for the exchanges and thus have constructed these bitcoind- 'CONGRUENT' api returns.
So a complete and smooth 'as-is' integration should not be expected, but as said, adjustments can easily be made now.

The NXTbridge is about to be tested out in an exchange environment, it looks as if www.ccedk.com will be the first NXTbridge user, giving NXT access to another NXT<>fiat gateway. Much good news....

And now the important bit: we need to plan and execute a little PR campaign for CCEDK to spread the word about both them and NXT.
Anyone want to help out?

salaszc is your man!
