As far as I understand, once GPU mining is active it will instantly kill CPU mining and the majority would leave. The result is that mining gets more centralized - again, those who own GPU farms would rule. I don't see any advantages for the coin itself in this scenario.

It's inevitable.  in a few years we may even have ASICs  The coin was designed to slow things down, not eliminate the possibilities (as I originally thought myself)  The Developer wants DarkCoin to follow a similar lifespan as bitcoin.

And now, how about collecting a good hefty bounty for a working effective GPU miner? I'd put down up to 1000 DRK - not much but if many people donate it'll build up.

If more people are interested I could work on GPU miner for a bounty. I already have something more or less working (pools are accepting shares, also solo-mined one block this night with it), but it's still very slow (nearly 2 MH/s on Radeon R9 290). Unfortunately I can't promise it will get much faster, still working on possible optimizations.

FYI

I'd been in to donating for that for sure.  Have been wondering why that hasn't happened yet.  I'll check back in a bit and see what you thinking for a bounty.

OMG That'd be all the coin I have!

One guy already posted early this morning that he has a working gpu miner doing only 2 mh/s but it works!

Now can anyone help me?  I want to do a backup pool in my bat file, but it's looking for the secondpool, and won't connect.  Could someone please tell me how this should go?

minerd -a X11 -o stratum+tcp://Pool:Port -u User.Miner1 -p Pass -o stratum+tcp://Pool2:Port2 -u User.Miner2 -p Pass -t 8

You can try this in your bat file as a failover script, just replace parameters with yours.

Thank you but how would you set the X-11 flag?  and would I put all of this for the url? stratum+tcp://drk.lotterymining.com:4444

Simply add the -a X11 flag after every instance of minerd in the script.

And yes, that's the url, including port. The only thing that changes in the template is the protocol, from http to stratum+tcp.

Excellent, It works, but now I need to know where to put the -t 8  Cheesy  Thank you so much!

Nevermind, I figured it out Wink

I have been following this since around Feb 1st or 2nd (not even sure how I came across it). I have read almost every post and have been mining since I picked up on this. Just wanted to say that I am liking this coin and I appreciate all the hard work everyone is putting in to this. Thanks for everything (once I get DarkRich I be sending out some tips).

I'll second this.  Thank you pool owners, our developers and ig0tik3d for everything

help...

I'm trying to sync my wallet and It's stoped at block 15199 (I have 7 conections) and I can't go ahead...

Thanks

The wallet was forked at 15200.  You need to update your wallet to the new exe..  Please backup your wallet first Files => Backup Wallet. Save it to a safe place like 2 jump drives!

Can someone please explain the differences between Darkcoin and Anoncoin?

Other alt coins use internet services to cloak their transactions, Darkcoin will cloak the transactions from the source, the wallet!

Totally different!

0.0005199 BTC NOW.

How come this so value ?  Huh

Word is getting around.  It's the only coin with obscured transactions!  It's the only alt coin now.

I like darktech but should spell it darktek

Earlier I meant I like Darkcoin Technology.  It's not slick, but it gives credit where it's due.

I would call it "Darkcoin" Technology.

Why?

1. We all know other alts are going to steal the technology. Well, if Darkcoin brands its technology with its own name and establishes itself, by calling the technology Darkcoin technology all the other coins will be forced to Acknowledge DarkCoin.!!! Heck by stealing from us, the other alts will be giving us free advertising and adding legitimacy to Darkcoin!! We will have them over a barrel.. Roll Eyes
Agreed. Keep it simple, and make sure that this coin is the key to the word, anyone copying it after that will just look bad. My vote goes to Darktech
I'll change my vote to this as well Smiley

So KGW is working great, the fork went off with out a hitch and now we're whale proof! So I want to move on to the next topic. A few days ago I asked if we should open source the technology or not and the vast majority of you all want it to be open source, so we're going to do that. So, that being the case earlier today in #darkcoin we were discussing the anonymous technology (An improved variant of coinjoin built into the client) and we were brain storming names for it.

Since it's going to be opensource we want to brand it, if other coins add it the users will know where it came from. So we have these ideas, we want to do a sort of poll and see what everyone likes.

Please limit your reply to your favorite name for the technology:

DarkSend
DarkTransfer
DarkTwister
DarkXport
DarkTransit
DarkStep
DarkTrigger
Darkify
Darkifier
DarkForce
Darkoflage
Darkize
DarkShroud
DarkEncode
DarkPool
DarkPooling
DarkCipher
DarkJoin (as in based on CoinJoin)

(or if you think you have a better name, put that in the reply)

Thanks!

You really don't want to implement it closed until it's "running smooth" or any excuse so that DarkCoin can get a head start?  Or do you think other coins will take a while to implement the features?  Is it hard to change it to another coin?

Please don't be to hasty here!

Remember, you can always open it, but can't put the cat back in the bag once it's out!!!

If it has to start with Dark, I'd go with DarkWarp otherwise Darkcoin with pitchdark© technology

pitchdark© technology +1+1+1+1+1 :-p
Pitchdark ftw

I like this too, PitchDark me Smiley  Also DarkPay is good

where download xcoin-minerd for 32 ? Huh Huh

I'm very sorry but 32 bit systems run cpu miners so slowly that nobody supports them.

Hi,

I try to register for Free trial azure account.
They ask me my card number?
I have to put one to obtain the free trial??? But didn't use it? Can you confirm about this?

Thanks,

Yes, you do, sorry.

I'm new to Darkcoin, are these good levels to buy at? What do you guys see this coin heading to within the next couple months? Thanks.

Kind Regards

You have to make that decision, but:

1. Darkcoin is only at 1 working exchange (the other two have to re-implement the new wallet) and it's been going up steady.  Soon, more exchanges will have us, and that means more people will know about us, so I suspect it will go much higher.

2. Darkcoin's developer has a working implementation of true anonymity that just has to have the bugs worked out.  It will be the first and only coin that can do this from the wallet.  Keeping all your transactions private.

3.  Darkcoin is a CPU only coin, and though we just had a scare that someone has implemented a GPU miner for darkcoin, it no longer seems likely.  Someone got ahold of a lot of cores and ran them over the weekend, probably at a university or something??

Darkcoin will eventually have someone implement a GPU miner, we don't know when.  In fact our developer is working on one for the community but hasn't completed it yet. It's hard to do with 11 algorithms.  His goal is to follow the same trajectory Bitcoin took.  First a CPU miner for a while, then a GPU and then, eventually, if popular enough, someone might make ASICs for Darkcoin.  But ASICs are undoubtedly years away.

So what do you think such a coin is worth?   If I had money or other coins, I'd purchase these for sure, but you have to make that decision.

Can anyone help me?  My 8 cores are not doing very well.  Only 280 kh/s  My duel core is doing at least 126 kh/s *unless the miner is unlocking hidden cores?*

How can I get them to hash better, should I have chosen Linux?

use 1.2c minerd
win64 (v1.2c)
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9cvOfoOekSdZFdtSjZzY0xFNHM/edit?pli=1

Don't get it, I have 2 cpu Xeon 2.33 (8 cores) doing 295ish kh/s.
So my 8 cores are doing about the same as these. SHOULD they be doing more??

well, maybe I'm hoping for too much then??

Yes I'm using the latest 1.2c, I guess I thought I'd be doing better, but if my computer is accessing 4 cores, it's  in line with what I'm getting.  It's one of those AMD phenoms that have disabled cores.  I think I'll set it to 4 cores when I go to bed tonight, LOL
