我们想在中国宣传MINT,因为我想会很受欢迎,目前MINTCOIN在中国知道的人还非常少,了解它的人更少,所以我觉得可以做。

I agree, I think it would be a good idea to focus some marketing towards China.

It is unlocked but I open it occassionally. Even if I bought the mintcoins from the stock exchange and transferred them to my wallet, I would get an interest in an interval like every 20 days right?

I am not 100% sure what you mean. The "age" of the coins resets every time you move them. So like if you bought 10 days ago on an exchange, then transferred to your own wallet today, the age of the coins is now 0 not 10 days old.

Also, it isn't exactly every 20 days. It cannot happen until they are at least 20 days old but there is no guarantee that it will happen immediately at the 20-day mark. Most of mine happen at 23-25 days or so as I said earlier.

I moved it from the exchange to my own wallet something like 2 weeks ago, thanks for the explanation and have a nice day.

Hey welt it sounds like you may just need to leave your wallet open and unlocked for longer. Minting is a lot like mining where the number of coins you have and their coinage are analogous to your hashpower- the more coins you have to stake and the greater their coinage the more likely you are to find a block. I usually leave mine open and unlocked for a few hours when it is time to mint. Also, you may have already said this and I missed it, but what wallet are you using?

1647  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - MULTIPOOL PAYS --- 20%--- BONUS! for the next week!! on: April 15, 2014, 08:00:44 PM
The main problem Faircoin suffers from is that the initial coin distribution process at the beginning wasn't actually fair. We all trusted the Faircoin developer not to game his own account creation system and award himself 50% of all the coins spread out over a thousand accounts.

Compare this to Blackcoin which distributed out the coins via the celebrated proof of work mining process pioneered by Bitcoin, which cannot be gamed or cheated, and most importantly is visible on the public blockchain for all to verify mathematically. Blackcoins distribution process is simply cold hard unbreakable logic that cannot be denied.

To attract bigger money to invest into this coin is going to be a problem going forward as word about the truth is spreading.

Hahaha mr_random you have always been a shill for BC. ON JUST ABOUT EVERY THREAD THERE IS LOL. you always seem to bring the distribution of the coins you bash into question, yet you always fail to realize just how poorly your beloved BC was distributed (99% of coins distributed in ONE WEEK of "celebrated" PoW! Most the multipools at the release were "invite only". Many people reported being unable to solo mine because of the huge diff jump right at the beginning. Just go read through pages 1-20 on the BC thread.), and that is why you see the games being played on the Mintpal buy/sell books everyday all day back and forth between big holders. You compare a 1 week PoW phase to the "proof of work mining process pioneered by Bitcoin"- what a fucking joke. "which cannot be gamed or cheated"- it got "gamed and cheated" by being only 1 week of PoW!

1. I am not a shill for anything. As we can all see from the meteoric price rise of Blackcoin, anyone who did their research and took into consideration my advice will have made themselves a small fortune. We are talking 1200% gains even for the latecomers that people like you said had missed the boat. I must be a funny shill if I've given great advice that would have made people a LOT of money if they followed it.  Cheesy

2. Lets make this simple. I would rather have a 1 week PoW proof of work distribution process than a 1 YEAR "hand out money to anyone" process. When comparing the two the time length is irrelevant. You have NO WAY of knowing that the developer hasn't gamed his own system and given himself an absurd amount of coins... which he can dump onto unsuspecting investors. Go ahead and try and prove me wrong - you can't. You can't "game" mining -  if you could someone would "game" mining bitcoin and make themselves rich. If you want a lot of coins you have to have a lot of mining hashpower and that costs money. Compared to someone handing coins out and giving themselves coins for free? With no publicly verifiable ledger? Come on now.

3. Not only that, the price of Blackcoin remained low and super cheap for weeks. Faircoin immediately jumped straight up to a falsely pumped price. At least with Blackcoin, people could buy in cheaply if they missed out mining.

4. The crypto community never supports heavily pre-mined coins. 2 months from now this coin will be called a scam whenever it's mentioned. I've been here over a year and post here daily I know what I am talking about.

I honestly think a lot of people here read my post/s last night and dumped afterwards. It was 3 quick posts in succession in the space of an hour but I think a lot of the information filled people in with the risks of this coin.

Faircoin has been experiencing sustained dumping ever since it's first pump:

Why could that be?

lolololol didn't get dumped as hard as your beloved BC. Did you see that one coming? I did, sold most my holdings above 70k.
1648  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin V1.8, Energy Saving Coin *27 Exchanges *44 Merchants on: April 15, 2014, 06:14:23 PM
The bottom line is the price would be increasing if people weren't selling. HBN is a great example of this - the price keeps going up because sell pressure is so low. Nobody is really selling in any significant quantity.

Now, mint does have a larger cap but still, if everyone (or even MOST users) were just holding and minting, then the price should naturally be rising. It's not. Therefore, people are selling, and significant amounts.

I think it was noted a few pages back that the biggest holder of Mint was selling? Not dumping in a destructive way, but selling enough to keep the price relatively stable and keep Mint under the radar. So that might seem like the action of many people, but maybe not... Anyway I do expect some rises but even if Mint stays at this price while Bitcoin rises then that's fine.

Isn't the biggest holder the dev? (it's a serious question I'm not being facetious.) I thought there was a sizable pre-mine, so unless someone bought up a ton at the right times it would be hard to rival that.

Impossible to say which address is the dev's for certain: http://mint.blockx.info/richlist/
They have already used some of the premine for bounties and the Mintcoin Fund, so hard to guess exactly how much is left. I think the dev has big long-term plans for this coin, which is why they have been hesitant to use the premine as quickly as some might prefer.
1649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 15, 2014, 05:20:27 PM
I have invested on White Coin but I do think Black Coin has a still bright future. Hopefully you can pass the 100K soon. Just remember all those times when bitcoin decreased 50% in price or more from $100 to less, and now all that people that sold are crying.

Wait.. whitecoin is actually a thing? I thought (hoped) that it was a joke.

Soepkip, I am working on a project for unbreakable contracts and decentralized cross platform markets. I'm decentralizing everything. Its like the Bitcoin client 2.0 on crack. Its a great project. First version is for Bitcoin but I want to put out the second version for Blackcoin. Also, this will allow Blackcoin to be a great pair for a decentralized exchange (my contracts would be faster for 1st confirmations making the orderbook move faster) Its a massive project that will change crypto. I will need more devs eventually for now its just me. We will have to keep in touch eventually. Expect to see the first version of my client in a few weeks.

this already for ultracoin in development
how original of you to try to copy.

It sounds like ethereum to me?

Open Letter

Some people here are very naive and do not understand that without hyping and yes pumping BlackCoin we will still be at 1500 sat with 50BTC or less volume.

Please don't take this personally,
Here's my issue with/question about pumping and this applies to all coins:
What happens when a coin is very quickly hyped/pumped up to a multi-million dollar marketcap, to the point of producing a number of very "wealthy" people, but there is actually not enough fresh capital coming in support these huge bagholders leaving/taking profits? So what happens when one or more bagholders want to turn their "wealth" into wealth, before another one beats them to it? The higher the price goes, the more likely the big bagholders will be tempted to exit and the easier it will be to break the support. I mean, how many people are actually trading blackcoin or any other new altcoin? Are there enough people there to absorb the costs of bagholders leaving at a given price? If not, that is why a drop follows as some of the "whales" race each other to a low.

nermiss hit the nail on the head. It's kind of circular because I think a lot of people tried it out but then they crunched the numbers and realized the amount of mint they were making in a day wasn't all that great given the current low price per mint on exchanges. No one is thinking super long term here, I would say easily 90% or more of people on this forum are expecting to make some massive profit in a matter of months.

Some people are thinking longer term  Wink

Hi guys,

I'm having some major problem upgrading my wallet to the latest (v1.5 -> v18).  So I downloaded the latest wallet and launched it, and it gave me an error message: blkindex.dat cannot be loaded.

So then I went into '%appdata' and delete the file blkindex.dat. Now the wallet loads fine, but the old balance disappears!  I cannot see the old transaction details, and the balance is zero! (But the receiving addy is correct tho).

What happened to my wallet?  Cry Cry I'm getting really nervous now. Please help me, guys.  Thanks in advance!

Hey Wiz,

When you upgrade from any wallet before 1.7, you will need to go into your roaming MintCoin folder and delete everything except your wallet.dat file before you download the new wallet so that you can download the blockchain from the beginning. If you already did that or that doesn't work, try using the repairwallet or salvagewallet functions in the debug window. Don't worry, as long as you have your wallet.dat then your coins are safe on the blockchain just waiting for you to connect to them.

so eventually if everyone updates it will stop? any way to force this to happen sooner rather than later?

I believe so, or if a large enough majority of people do? Like I said, it's not a problem it's just a little annoying to look at. Somebody had mentioned preventing previous versions (1.6 and prior) of the wallet from connecting to the network on the next wallet upgrade, thereby requiring people to upgrade (which people should have by now anyways, it was a mandatory upgrade from 1.6 to 1.7/1.8 ).

I repaired my wallet and it didn't do anything, it said wallet integrity true or something along those lines. My config file is the official one that came with the upgrade. It still keeps periodically saying ~8000 blocks remaining to sync, then after a while it will go away, then come back...Huh

I think that is due to other people still using the old wallet. Beaverslayer said something about this a while back. It doesn't affect your ability to mint or send/receive transactions, I can attest to that as my wallet does the same thing but I still mint/send/receive coins.

What's the good word on the android wallet?

Paspi posted this two days ago, waiting on further updates from paspi or beaverslayer. We should see if we can get an additional bounty for the Bloom filters, either from the dev or raise it ourselves as a community.

Android wallet update:

Hello everybody; I'm working on a Java MintCoin library and an Android wallet.

For best security and long term development, I forked from latest bitcoinj last week. Converted it to Scrypt. Made it able to communicate with my local Mintcoin wallet over network. I just updated it to understand and accept PoS/PoW hybrid blocks, and I can announce you that it can sync with the blockchain from genesis block up to #239870, which is generated just minutes ago Smiley

There are some missing features yet:

- It can validate PoW block difficulties (calculation is a little different in PoW/PoS hybrids than pure PoW coins, PoS blocks affect calculations, and modifying bitcoinj library for this task really had some challenges) ; but it doesn't try to validate PoS block difficulties yet (this is a security issue and will be fixed before releasing)

- It doesn't verify POW block rewards (due to the fact that I couldn't find a specific pseudorandom generator implementation that decides on randomized POW block rewards). I don't think this would be an issue as the main use case would be a Simple Payment Verification wallet, checkpoints will cover our security up to removal of PoW from MintCoin (though it will be nice to have the checks in place)

- Minting: It's now almost clear that minting would be possible even in SPV wallet mode. I will annonuce details later. I have to figure out validating PoS blocks first.

- UI: I'm just trying to get the pure library working properly now. Once the library is working, it'll be very easy to fork/make an Android App that uses it

- Bloom filters: Here is a request for the community: Current Mintcoin wallet doesn't support Bloom filters. Bloom filters allow SPV clients download only the transactions they're interested in (instead of all transactions in blocks), reducing mobile users' data usage dramatically. Please put a bounty on it so that someone can merge it from bitcoin client. Android wallet will work without Bloom Filter support in the main client, but its data usage would be much more.

Hi guys I have a problem with mintcoin balance ....it's showing only 0.20246700 from 1.6 mil . Yesterday i created an backup wallet and then i downloaded the new version v1.8.0.0 .. after that I have this problem ...also i checked my address in block explorer and there it's showing real balance. What can be the problem ?

When you upgraded to v1.8, try deleting everything in your roaming MintCoin folder except the wallet.dat file, of course, such that you download the entire blockchain. Also, if that does not work, try using the repairwallet or salvagewallet features in the debug window.
