Or we could end all signature campaigns for 60 days just to see if it helps.

Think of all the spam that would go by by.

Why not try it for a bit just to see.

Whatever the reason, given their past communications history I really expected Canaan to let us know the reason for the delay   Huh

Yeah usually they are very good that way.
16403  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A1041 Review on: July 22, 2019, 03:00:07 PM
I suspect they are having an issue with the controllers/gui

the beta models have weird behavior at times.

My 2 units run perfectly in my home with optimum internet.

but I can not get them to work in Clifton NJ with Verizon fios internet.

I will be bring up a different router  this week to try to get them to run.

Even when the controllers run here at my house  they are flakey.

Hi guys,is investing in asic miners to mine bitcoin still worth it?I mean the most powerful bitcoin miners,if yes would it be better than investing in GPUs to mine ETH?

Neither one if your power is costly.  Just buy some coin and hold it.

I am struggling with the same. I am unable to decide whether I should invest in CPU mining for XMR for the winter

Yeah I am getting the new amd Ryzen 3900x

I will mine it in the garage at a loss but I was curious if I like it.

I may make a few super basic cpu miners with just the 3900x and one GPUs.
16405  Other / Meta / Re: Unionize the membership. on: July 22, 2019, 10:46:58 AM
If enough of us sign a petition using a non-reputable signature, we get unionization...
Really?  You sign a petition and magically things change to your advantage?  Are we living on the same planet here?

Honestly I don't know what your point is and what exactly you want to unionize.  Seems like you want a seniority system, which I'm pretty sure Theymos won't implement as far as rank determining how much of a voice you have in forum matters.  What matters most is your reputation and whether you can make logical arguments.

This forum is centralized whether you like it or not, and no amount of digital signatures on a shitty-ass petition is going to change that.

Maybe it was sarcasm.

Use gminer 1.51 or higher, bminer have problems when fork happened

yeah I got that but I never had a working  miner for nicehash or for f2pool

does some one have a bat to run it at either pool

how about this ?

--algo grin29 --server stratum+tcp://grincuckaroo29.usa.nicehash.com --port 3371 --user 146UJM5kgzLVUV23CXCf33KQKHckoX1gx3 --pass x --api 3333

I am getting old simply can't remember shit.

So I had an old bminer 14.0  and fork killed it off.

I loaded bminer 15.7.2  and I get rejected shares.

I am remote to these rigs.  So 15.7.2 does not work.

With grin 29 fork. What do I need to do to get my simple Mining back on track.?

I pointed my 1080ti to bci for last few days.

Would prefer to mine grin

Phil,

Gminer since v1.51 supports the fork - see GITHUB
SMOS has v1.52 updated.

1.51
@develsoftware develsoftware released this 6 days ago
added Cuckarood29 algorithm for Nvidia cards (use --algo grin29 for autoswitch after hardfork)

okay let me check
16411  Economy / Computer hardware / To all newbies posting here. A simple request. on: July 21, 2019, 11:18:28 PM
Don’t lock the thread and give a link to an outside place to do sale.

I will tag thread.

Reason is simple scamming is too easy to do if you do this way of sales.

If I tagged you for newbie locked thread and offsite link I will remove the negative tag if you unlock the thread.

16413  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: M3X Hashboard Problem on: July 21, 2019, 07:00:06 PM
Already swapped hashboards and had same issue. Its a connect loose for sure, M3X's are unstable and restarts randomly for some reasons when it restarts there is a low chance that hashboard will work. Have been 2 days without working and today it restarted and started working, giving same ths like other boards.

Connect cable is stuck and cannot be removed.

Yeah they have three separate cables.

It could be a bad cable.

But if it can not be removed you can’t put a new one in its place.
16414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining is one of the top 3 ways to earn passive income w/ cryptocurrency! on: July 21, 2019, 02:48:23 PM
Didn't you do a video like this about a year ago when mining wasn't profitable anymore? I remember you telling people to stake instead.

I haven't had time to watch this video so I don't know if it has more ideas this time but I am assuming its talking about staking.

The issue with staking and running masternodes is that you are paid in the alt-coin, and that alt-coin value can drop with respect to Bitcoin or Fiat, so its not really considered passive income since you can lose money.

Like I said about a year ago, the only way to make passive income on Cryptos aside from mining is lending out your cryptos. You can lend them on Bitfinex and you get a decent rate for your BTC, ETH, Tether, etc.

Trading is not considered passive since most will lose money that way.

By the way, cool E30 M3 shirt.

MAY I ask. Are these crypto lending platforms really for real? I mean they ain't scammy right?

I am asking this question because I actually intended venturing into a business like that. Who knows maybe I can actually make a few profits, cos I have lost so much already in 2018.

Bitfinex  was hacked  and kind of paid off  the debt.  So you are very vulnerable to hacking.

@ op    by USA tax law mining is not  passive income it is active.  I do not know any laws in other countries.
16415  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Innosilicon T2T 30T Fan Speed on: July 21, 2019, 12:03:37 AM
Yea, even dialing it back some will help on longevity of the fan but well though out firmware is nice. I'll see if I can get a draw read with the one I have set up. Nice units but so far runs under just under 30ths at 2300w in factory.

do balance +   I got  good results with my t3 t39  on that setting.

16418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [JULY 2019] Fees are low, use this opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs! on: July 20, 2019, 05:36:49 PM
yeah if you are not waiting desperately for coin.

consolidation would be good right now.

Depending on a few things and size of coin movements  you can do  20 sats  for a bigger value movement if you fear coins getting stuck.

viabtc.com still has free transaction accelerator service. but the tx fee had to be 20 sats a byte.

So when I move a larger amount  say 0.1btc I will do 20 sats a byte in case it gets stuck.

when I move small amounts I use 5 to 10 sats a byte.  So if they get stuck it is not a lot of coin.

Since the network is not filled up and backlogged the viabtc.com free service will work in under a day.

and if you are moving say 10 tx at 5 stats with a low coin total say 0.005 btc they will clear.

I have 2 trezors and use them to consolidate between each other.  or within their own selves.
16419  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Will you use a Facebook coin? on: July 20, 2019, 01:00:59 PM
My attitude is - no way!!

I don't use Facebook, and I don't like their lack of privacy and security. They seem to be talking about pegging the coin to a bunch of fiat currencies, and that is another big disincentive for me. I suspect we will start to see some government or banking based cryptos, and I'll probably end up using a couple of those alongside Bitcoin.

I am not a fan of Facebook.

So I won’t have a lot of them maybe one to mock it.
